No sighed, feeling it come from the top of her small shoulders and down into her abdomen. This wouldn’t be easy, would it? She just had a feeling- maybe it was the slight tension behind her left ear. “Alright, alright. He didn’t run away. But he can’t have just fallen asleep, he would have heard you. Or, well- maybe...” She rambled, before perking her ears forward. “We’ll just look then. When you started to play, which direction did you see him run off to?”
No’s faded green eyes flicked a circle around them. Pride rock loomed somewhere in the distance, and to the left, a large tree and surrounding rocks and high grasses. There certainly wasn’t a lacking in places for a small pup to catch some snooze in.

 The small cub huffed quietly. He hadn't sought out or asked for her help, and thus far it seemed she was only making it more difficult that it needed to be. There was also a part of him that couldn't help thinking that it would be cheating for her to join in the hunt.
"I didn't see which direction he went, that would have been cheating."
He sighed and settled on his haunches, why did he have to keep explaining? But, what if Totoro had gotten hurt or run into a bigger predator? What if he -couldn't- answer? With a newfound determination, Shin jumped to his paws and took several steps forward, for now forgetting whatever irritation he may have felt toward his 'cousin'.
"Totoro!! Where are you?!"

“Aw, come on.” No remarked. “Everyone peeks. It’s practically part of the game.” But it would figure that he wouldn’t have. Now she had absolutely no idea where to look. She pursed her lips and scowled, twisting the end of her tail in agitation. If she was a fat lazy puppy- where would she go? He. Okay.
The sudden pitch in Shin’s voice caused her to lower her eyes. He really did care about this thing, didn’t he? Well...this wasn’t her great undertaking, but she would help find him. It wouldn’t do to have her nephew without his friend, even if he was being a hooligan and denying her auntage.
“Totoro!” She called, and stood up on her hind paws.

He blinked, ears flicking as he looked at No for a moment, perhaps a bit startled at her statement.
"I don't peek, not on my best friend."
And he wouldn't have, with his friend he would always play fair. Now his sister, that was a different matter entirely. He would have peeked on her in a heartbeat, not that he would have ever been 'it' for her in the first place. But that was different, or maybe it wasn't, but it seemed more fair to peek on a sibling than a friend, with siblings it's expected, you can't let your little sister beat you in a game after all.
Pausing with his nose to the air, searching for a scent, Shin tried to think, where would Totoro hide? Maybe by the waterhole? No, last time he was there he got a bath and he didn't like that. Would he head back for home and hide near there? Maybe he was just curled up in some tall grass behind a rock.
"Totoro! You already won, come out!"
Trying as hard as he could to find some scent of his friend, the small cub picked a direction and walked in the hopes of stumbling across the young pup.

No shook her head with a faint chuckle. She couldn’t understand him- but, she couldn’t help but admire the fact that he was so devoted to his puppy friend. “Alright, alright. Not with friends then.” She admitted, and began to follow after him, her tail curved forwards.
“Hey- puppy! Come out wherever you are. The game is over, and you’re the grand champion.” She called, her jaded green eyes fluttering about.
She decided to let Shin lead the way. He'd know better then her the likely spots for the pup.

A surprisingly short distance away, hidden in a cleft of rocks concealed by the tall grass, a pair of canine ears flicked, small form stretching as his jaws parted in a broad yawn. Such a magnificent game of hide and seek he had been playing with his friend. Only it seemed he had hidden too well, and under the warmth of the sun, the young pup had fallen asleep (it was a beautiful day for a nap).
He must have been a very sound sleeper to doze through the calls of his friend and the lioness who accompanied him, calls that grew more frantic with each passing moment. But he had remained blissfully oblivious, lost in his peaceful dreams, unaware of his friends panic, certainly he would have answered had he realized.
Scratching behind one ear, the young pup lifted his head to peek from his hiding spot, brown eyes scanning for any sign of his seeker. How long had he been asleep? Surely Shin should have found him by now? Maw parted, he let out a small yipe, a timid call for his friend, uncertain he wanted to reveal himself lest he lose the game.------------------------------- "Totoro!"
Shin's voice pierced the air as he called for his friend again, an increasing panic rising with each successive call. Where was that pup? Surely he couldn't just be hiding if he hadn't answered. Something must have happened to him.
There was a mix of fear and sorrow in his gait, his paws falling heaving with each step. It seemed they had been searching so long, and his fears were beginning to take over, what if he never saw his best friend again?
Sighing heavily, the young cub paused, settling back on his haunches, pawing at the grass as if he didn't know what else to do or where else to look, his ears back against his head. He might have whined had he been alone, but he wouldn't with No around.
Wait, what was that? Dark ears perked, twitching as a familiar sound reached his senses, instantly springing to his paws, his posture suddenly changed.
"Totoro?" His head titled as if listening for confirmation. "Totoro! I hear him!"
Cubbish excitement and relief radiating from his small body, Shin bounded toward that sound and the friend that waited for him.
