But even after the bible was written it was centuries before it was known around the world. What of those who were around after it was written, but before it was translated to their language? Also, should the bible be taken literally or metaphorically? Many people seem to disagree on how certain parts should be taken. Besides, how do I know that the bible is the word of God? What of the other religions? Can I really be blamed if I believe in a different religion? After all, they all seem to have about the same amount of credibility.

If it wasn't God's word, God has quite enough power to change that. That fact it may be translated and interpreted differently is because of this fact: Every verse of the Bible contains more knowledge and wisdom than we can comprehend. God simply reveals to us what we need in our life during that time.
personally, god aint had a hand in it since he spoke to moses. most of it was written by people, so you can't even rely on the dead sea scrolls(assuming you can lay hands on them).

Oh ye of little faith. I'm sorry to say, but if you truely believe there is no God, not even a higher power, it slighlty foolish and i have more than the Bible to prove that. By the way, if God turned his back away from even a second, we would all die. You should be grateful he does that for you since all you do is beat him down.

The only thing I've seen you post are unconstructive things that are snide and have no backing. Sorry if I sound rude but I feel you are being rude to me.

Foolish? Atheism is just as logical as theism. Personally, I don't see any substantial proof in either direction.

True and I'm not bashing athiests. God didn't write the Bible, but the people who wrote it were being directly instructed by God. King James didn't write the Bible he just had it written in a special way for him or whatever. I don't even know who King James is.

'knig james is a reference to the type of bible. words of jesus in red and words like 'spake.' and in the gospel none of it was instructed by god, it's all the authors personal opnions. some of the earlier books(i.e. genesis) were instructed by god. however, later ones such as Job, are simple chronicles that might have never happened and simply try to teach that anything is possible through god(like the televangelists tell you.) personally i dont agree, but thats irrelevant at the moment.

oh, and revelation also appears to be dictated, but also with what that one man saw it as, not nessicerially what it actually was.

If you were a Christian, a good one, you'd know the things that God does for you and would do if you let him. God spoke to the authors of the Bible and he gives people visions. Psychis see visons don't they? Why can't someone else? I belive psychics see visions through spirits. If I am connected to the most powerful and only holy spirit, who's to say I can't have visions. If you opened your eyes and looked with them and your heart you would see things that God is doing every day.

Who says that Job didn't happen?

I could prove it if people would take off their armor protecting them from the phrase 'life happens'...

that wouldn't help here. its just a complete lack of proof for either side that makes it a bad argument. i know where youre coming from, but theres just no proof it happened, and none that it didnt because of the timetable involved, that being some thousands of years ago.

There is no lack of proof if people gave me time and would listen to me first with an open mind. People are really close minded on this guild. So much for tolerance.

Christians don't know things because most of them trust what there teachers tell them instead of looking the Bible themselves and then listening to their teachers. People misinterpret the Bible, even teachers.

Do you know anything about languages? If you did you would know that there is no way that the bible is in any way correct.

There are so many words in the hebrew language that we can't translate into english because they don't exist anymore. So when you are reading your NIV bible or even your king james(who was one of the first kings of england, just fyi) There are made up words to compensate for what words they couldn't figure out. Not to mention the fact that in the times of genesis... and maybe some of the other books(if you go COMPLETLY by bibical standards and the christian creation theory) There was no written language. Everything was heresay. So if God did tell moses what to write, how do we know that moses wasn't just some looney guy like most people think Joseph Smith was. How do you know that the bible wasn't invented just to keep a control over the masses?

Can you honestly answer these? Can you go get the dead sea scrolls and translate them for me, and then carbon date them to make sure they are really from 2005 plus years?

I'm not denying the fact that your God is real, or christianity, I'm just stating the obvious facts that there is no way that the bible itself is real.
