I believe that you cant really use Magick for dark purposes and call yourself a wiccan. However you can use your magick for dark purposes and call yourself a Witch. Withes dont have to believe in the Reed and they dont have to believe in Karma. Therefore why not?

Excuse me? Witches do have a Rede and they believe in Karma. How can you say that? I know plenty of witches, just as I know plenty of wiccan witches. Would you like the Witches Rede.

Ginvera... Read my post darling! Witches dont have to believe! I didnt say that all witches didnt a rede or Karma... I said some dont So dont excuse me Hun!

We witches (I am of course speaking as a Hellenic witch) have no rules for our practice. You can practice Hexs, curses, and smites if you want. You just need to be careful. When cursing, smitting, or hexing you need to make sure there is no room for error in the spell and that it wont come back to you.

Witchcraft is a practice that can be applied to any religion. There are Athesists witches and there are Agnostic witches as well as Christain Witches and Buddhist witches. You do not need to invoke a spirit when doing witchcraft. The belif is the power.

It sounds like your friend is more into and wnat to know more about witchcraft then Wicca. The two have become interchangeable in sociatey. I want to put some what of a stop to that.

Like every one else has said there is no dark magic. It's all about the user's intentions. Magic is magic. We label it for our minds and to make things easier in description. Green magic is still magic magic. It just refers to magic specifically in herbs and the earth.

If she wants to learn hexs and curses let her. Just dont let her call it Wicca. It's witchcraft not wicca. Witchcraft=/=Wicca.
*hugs you* Thank you for wording exacly what I was thinking!!! heart ^_^ heart

Quote:
Hear now the word of the Witch,
the secrets once hid in the night,
When darkness was for protection,
We now bring forth in the light.

Mysteries of the Water and Fire,
The Earth and the wide-ranging Air,
By hidden Quintessence we know them,
and we bring honor in silence and fair.

The birth and rebirth of all Nature,
the passing of Winter and Spring,
We share with the life Universal,
rejoicing in the never-ending Ring

Four times in the year we give homage,
come forth the Witches are seen,
At Lammas and Candelas we're dancing,
so too on May Eve and old Halloween

When daytime and nighttime are equal,
when sun is at it's greatest and least,
The four lesser Sabbats are summoned,
again the Witches gather in feast.

Thirteen silver moons in a year,
thirteen to be the magikal array,
Thirteen times at Esbat we make merry,
for the work of the night and the day.

The knowledge has passed down the ages,
each time between woman and man
Each century unto the other,
old times since the ages began.

When drawn in the Magikal circle,
by sword or athame of light,
It's compass between two worlds opens,
in honor and love for this night.

Our world has no right to know it,
and the world beyond will tell naught,
The oldest of Gods are invoked there,
the great work of light's Magik is wrought.

For two are the mystical pillars,
that stand at the gate of the shrine,
And two are the powers of Nature,
the forms and the forces divine.

Do what thou wilt be the challenge,
so be it in love that harms none,
For this is the only commandment,
By wisdom of faith so let it be done.

The witch rede you have quoted above cant be very old considering none of the names mentioned for the 4 greater sabbats are their original names, eg candelas/candelmas is the christianized/romanized name for Imbolc. Its just my opinion but though content wise the poem seems to communicate moral values it seems more focused on rhyming than giving the proper names. I have also heard of spelling magic as magick but find most books dont bother.

Again lammas is a more modern name, the old name was lughnasadh for the festival was in the name of the god Lugh, son of Bel (whom beltaine was named after)

just an observation. Out of curiosity where did you get this from?

Is she even reading this? meow..

Yeah I read sometimes, not all the time, when you got a 7000 word project do on Midsummer/Litha you kinda don't read much and skim through. And I got that from a friend of mine in Florida, but I moved away. Her name is Leanna.

I think poems like that are relatively new.

There are spells out there that can harm people if done corectly. Although, from what I know, you must be highly experienced before you can do one corectly.

"And ye harm none, do what ye will."
Nearly all Wiccans hold this in high regard, and live it to their best ability.

You interpert "And ye harm none, do what ye will." the way you believe it means, because if you believe what it is saying, you can't hit no one because you are harming them. You can't play fight because you are harming them. Can't harm a bug, can't smoke, can't drive a car because you are hurting nature.

Many witches interpret this differently. It just depends on who you are. Some people go really far with that. Some just limit it to spells.

Yes it exists whether we like to believe it or not! And my advise to you would be to stay away from it at all costs.

Witches exist for one reason to keep the balance in all living things nature included..
also to add
I'm a solitary witch and a male witch and i find nothing wrong with working with dark magick you can still use it for positive works and not evil

the only evil that you would do is annoy ppl like saying:"I'm a dark witch fear me mortals"( i now that pushed it alittle bit)

There is no such thing as dark wicca.
Wicca is a life-affirming religion. This is a very important part of Wicca. There IS dark witchcraft, or "Black Magic" this is probably what your friend is talking about, they just dont know the difference between Wicca and Witchcraft.
Evil is in the eye of the beholder, too, man, you can't forget that.

PLaS, part of being a life-affirming religion is also affirming the vital role of death in life. Without death, there is no life. There is much that is dark within Wicca and modern witchcraft. Dark =/= evil or bad.

I know that.
Magic is a gift of the goddess and god, and I count murder as abusing this sacred gift.
I worded it wrong, my bad.
I know there is a dark side to Wicca, it is supposed to be a balance, I know.

A Practitioner DOES NOT have to believe in anything they them selves Do not see as truth. Magic and Energy are coloured By the user and there use of it. Magic is also a birth right of any human willing to open there eyes and truly wield there will as they should. The skills and gifts each one has naturally on the other hand are gifts and blessings the gods have given us for what ever reason. The power of these gifts range into all things Not only spells and charms Most "witches" focus Upon. I’ve seen those Who follow some of the “darkest” paths Do Amazing things with that Power, and I’ve seem people On the “purest of Pure” Paths commit Acts with said power that would make the most hardened souls quiver.
What ever acts You use your birth right for are neither Good Nor Evil, But said Acts Must be balanced. The energies of this plane are Finite and as such will Fall back into the natural Balance, the first chance it gets.
I’ve studied Wicca, Paganism, alchemy, satanic piracies, necromancy, astral projection, dream walking, Energy vampirism (my current project) and every other form of “witchcraft” and the “occult”, I can get my hands into over the entirety of my very short life. hell I’ve even Taken the bloodily time to learn the correct offerings for about 80% of the fae in existence Just so I might see what wisdom they have to share, since My cousins and familiars among there number shared all they know. And in everything I’ve seen everything I was allowed to attempt by those I studied with, NONE of it is as easy as good or evil, Wrong or right. You may colour something Black, Or white. That doesn’t Not make it so.
“All things in the eye of the beholder, are things of truth” as it was so beautifully Put to me.
And personality I Believe what Colours Magic "Black" (as most would see it) is the amount of energy that must be displaced to achieve said goal

Ps the whole “” this is because I cant stand the terms for them and am still looking for new one to replace them

and now i'll shut up before the reed beaters start with the attemps to punch holes in my veiws
