"Doomed? How can Kala possibly be doomed?" She sighed and just stayed where she was for a while, she was more confused now then she had been when she came. At least now she did know that there was going to be a problem between Kala and Amkia.

"That is all the meij will say on the matter," Valelldia said, her voice soft and apologetic. "If you'd like to ask another question, I suggest waiting a day or so, and then trying to rephrase. ...But if you ask me, it could be either. Kala can be doomed just as surely as could be Amkia- either could fall victim to the Unfortunette."

Heather nodded and turned to leave. "Thank you." She then left, it still playing on her mind.

Carrying Kalpana under her arm, Irina approached Val's wagon. She hadn't had a chance to meet the head of the caravan yet, and with all the strange things going on, she thought she'd stop in and meet the woman...and perhaps have Kal's fortune read.
The badger sniffed the air as they walked, looking curiously around her. She certainly was enjoying her new life in the caravan, even though she didn't have much space to dig in Irina's wagon.
Irina knocked on the door and waited for a reply, hoping the gypsy would be in.

Valleldia came to the door of WhistleStick, a red cloth that she had been folding draped over her arm. She recognized the woman at her doorstep as soon as she was revealed: not from having met her personally... but still, the head of the caravan made sure that she knew her brothers and sisters. Beyond seeing her at the wagon ordering ceremony and about the caravan as they moored for meals and such, her half-sister had told her much about this strange Fortunette and its mother.
"Greetings, Irina. I'm so glad you came to see me. I was wondering when we'd have a chance to get acquainted. Oqaia has told me so much about you and little Kalpana."
As she escorted them in, Valelldia gave Kalpana a friendly brush under the chin. She had a way with Fortunettes, and very, very few would ever think to attack or be cross with this mystical woman.
"Please. Sit. ...Did you come to me with a question? Perhaps with the need for a reading?"

Irina was glad to see the woman in good spirits. She entered the wagon and sat down, smiling. "So good to meet you too! Though I've seen you around, I'm glad we'll get to know each other a little more while we're here."
Kal was appreciative of the slight chin-nuzzle, and she gave Val as much of a grin as a badger could. If she was a cat, she would definitely purr.
"Ah, so you've heard about us from Oqaia? She's a very nice woman--very welcoming! Though Kalpana's last growing was a bit intense, I'm hoping for better things for her in the future." She nodded at the woman, and continued.
"Well, I was just sitting around the fire, talking to the others, and it seems they've had some strange fortunes come from their banya birds as of late. Since I don't have one, I was curious if maybe you could tell me if something odd might happen to Kal. I want to be prepared for anything that may come our way." She looked down at the badger, and stroked her back, hoping that it would calm her even further.

Valelldia smiled. "Yes, Oqaia is such a sweet girl. These days, the more time I spend with her, the more I regret not having grown up nearer to her. ...Our mothers are different," she explained softly. Then, upon Irina's request for a reading, Valelldia stopped speaking to allow the air to clear for the meij. She moved to her boon table, and pulled a golden cloth from her fine-hued crystal ball. Keeping Irina's question in mind, she beseeched of the meij an answer. As the images that swirled within the crystal solidified, so did her honeyed words as she translated their meaning... as best she could.
"Upcoming- the woods. The choice is not hers, so worry not. However, the animals will be separated. You must bargain for her release, or face a much greater fear of a Child of Darkness. And soon... soon, new friends will alight... the meij would smile upon Kalpana, were she to make peace with them- to shine in a normal setting. It will diffuse the trouble she and Illusion have already created with A Light in the Dark."

Irina listened as Val explained her relationship with Oq. "Well, it's wonderful that the two of you are getting to know each other now, even if you weren't able to grow up together," she said. Then, she watched as Val cleared the air, and pulled the cloth off of the crystal ball that sat in the middle of the table.
"Bargain for her release? Does this mean she'll be kidnapped?" Her eyes grew wide as she considered the possibility. "I will have to be sure to free her--whatever it takes." She nodded with confidence. "Is it bad to be a Child of Darkness?" she asked, not really knowing what made the difference.
"And has the trouble in the carvan stemmed from the element of Delusion?" She had to ask. After all, it was quite a strange element...

Leshya'e walked up to Valelldia's wagon, Anezka at her side, and knocked on it's door. In Ani's hands were a few items that the two of them had recieved by way of trading or as gifts, and Leshya'e had questions about them and their abilities.
She also had a favor to ask of the meij...a deeply important one...

I'll do your answer, that'll be the end of that, and then, on to yours, Mae.)) "I honestly don't know what bargaining for her release means... but it sounds as if you have a less cryptic message, so try to take it at that, if you don't know what else to do. As for being a child of the darkness... well, they're more susceptible to darker magic, to danger- and the longer they are infused with darkness, the more likely they are to grow up... wrong. Dark, and cruel- gaining back more of their animalistic features and losing their humanity. You see, each Fortunette is exposed to dark magic in their growths- it's why every Fortunette infant is a Darkling."

These days, the meij was thick with fortunes- it was only natural that these experienced gypsymothers of magical children would seek answers. "Please. Come in. ...I see you have some questions for me?" Val took a soft seat at her boon table.

Oqaia Leshyae -*-

Anezka then placed the items on the table: the black & gold bandages, the silver bond ring, and the jeweled sandals. Leshya'e smiled at Val, "I was just wonder, firstly, If you could tell me anything more about these items...What I know about them is quite, well, vague."
[all of which are in my wagon, if you need to see them to be reminded of what they are]

((XD As if I don't have a plan for every single thing that crosses these gypsy palms.... *evil grin*))
"Well, these bandages," Valelldia picked them up, remembering her gift, "I received from an uncle- one of my mother's favorite brothers. I don't know where he obtained them, but they're a bit of grey magic. Using them frequently might make you ill. But they're still quite useful. ...And these," she said, pointing at the sandles, "those are from this last trading station, aren't they? They look beautiful. I can't tell you anything about them- but I can tell you this- we're headed into a very fae-oriented area. And fae- can be awfully vain. They prefer bedecked, beautiful people- they go easy with their pranks on those they favor."
Valelldia nodded at the last item. "That- it looks like a bond ring. They're very special... if you can find a second. They bond people together, give protection- they're even rumored to have other abilities, especially if you pair different bonds together- gold bonds, diamond, ruby bonds... there are even darkheart bond rings, but I've not seen one since I was in the Marshes... very, very many years ago."

Leshya'e nodded and slid the ring onto her finger, convinced now that it was safe. "So...the sandals...if Anezka wears them, she will be safe?...I'm...quite concerned with all the things the banya's have been saying lately." Anezka looked up at her mother and then at Valelldia. She had been wanting to wear the sandals since her mother had purchased them, but leshya'e wouldn't allow it until she had spoken to Val.
