Maxem laughed into her glass, causing herself to half choke on rum.
“If there is a way to get it out… I certainly don’t know what it is!” One hand set the glass down on the table as she brushed her bangs out of her eyes. Upon inspecting it once more… the entire front panels were an awkward shade of green-pink that really couldn’t be played off as intentionally set there.
“Hey…. How long have you been here? You think you know your way around?”
Now, it wasn’t in Maxem’s normal set of tricks to go and blackmail folks, but the situation of being lost and confused was becoming a problem. That, and the rum, as little as she might have had, had finally decided to kick her better judgment to the curb and do whatever it could to get Maxem comfortable.

"Letssee. I've been here for a few months," Grete nodded, as she tried to think of the time when she joined. It had been a while ago, but not too terribly long.
Grete eased back into her seat and closed her eyes. Her head was a bit on the pounding side. Maybe the rum wasn't such a good idea. She set her glass down on the table, and sat back up. She had to come up with a solution to the corset problem.

“Show me around.” It was not a question, but a demand. “You can show me around and teach me how things work around here in return for my corset.”
She intently kept her eyes on Grete’s face, waiting for some sort of reaction.
“If you take me under your wing, we’ll both benefit. I’ll become able to work my way around, and you can erase that dept you have to me.”
Her voice rang out with an almost obnoxious confidence; her plan seemed flawless when it ran in her head.

"Well, alright. That sounds fair. I mean, it won't be too difficult. What all do you need to know?"
Grete held her head in her hands. Such a terrible ache. Oh, well. As long as she didn't have to worry about returning the corset. But something didn't quite make sense.
"How will that get you your corset all fixed up and pretty? I can still give you money. I mean, a tour won't get you a new top."

“I’ll earn a new one once I work my way to stardom. You’ll just need to teach me who to suck up to in order to achieve that goal.” She scooted forward on the bed, getting excited.
“And I’ll need to know where everything is and where we’re going next… What the crowds generally like, and who I should talk to about supplementing their acts… People to avoid, people to befriend…Where to get good food, who to con money out of when I’m broke…? Who is the biggest pervert to take advantage of…? Simple things like that.”
It was only after this speech that she noticed that Grete didn’t look so good.
“Uhm, that can wait… You’re not looking so well… Maybe you should get some rest… If you point me to where the new recruits are staying, I’m sure I could take care of myself from there.”

"I can't help you with that whole 'conning' business. It's just not my style, and I tend to avoid it," Grete said, the thought that she had basically just been conned hadn't crossed her mind.
"You'll want to get to know Aiden. He's an a**, but he'll help you, if he likes you. You also will want to meet Dahli and Scarlett. Crowds like excitement. Be sure to surprise them with something, and try to make it different each time. That way, they never quite know what to expect."
Grete's eyebrow raised slightly, as she peered at Maxem, who was still on her bed.
"New recruits stay with each other. You've got to bunk with someone, but I'm not quite sure who. You'll have to figure that out yourself."

Nodding, Maxem took mental notes. Aiden, Scarlett, and Dahli. Good names, she’d have to somehow remember them and try to come across their owners later.
“Alright… Well… I guess that’s all I’ll need for the time being… You should… really try to get some sleep. You don’t look too well. “ She tried to sound more concerned than happy, but at this point, the prospect of getting a personal tour around her new workplace sounded like a rather good idea.
It was then that Maxem finally left the bed, leaving her glass and looking at it carefully before giving a tiny wave.
“Thank you for the rum, by the way. I hope to be seeing more of you, just in case I have any more questions. So do try to relax a bit. Well, uhm… Good night, I guess.”
And with this the girl stepped out of the trailer, her boots scraping against the dust as she went once again into the maze of trailers. Eventually she would know her way around, but for now she had to just plow through and see if she couldn’t find a place to sleep.
