Well... eek

That is a big problem, and I don't think that it can be solved by a quick fix of any. I beleiv the only way to get it back on is to weld it... But that is both dangerous and expensive. I'd suggest taking it to your local instrument repair shop and let them look at it...

Poor sax...

Uhh.
How am I supposed to clean it.
I have "cleaning cloths" that are on a string and I pull them through the instrument, but the string always gets snapped off. I don't have a giant fuzzy thing, so what do I do?

well the easiest way would be to go to a music store and buy a good cleaning kit(which should come with a cloth that has a spongey thing on one side) and that is what you should use to clean the actual sax. put the string through the BELL first, and pull it out through the the neck joint(neck should be detached at this point). you should also have a little cloth that DOESN'T have the sponge on it(a clarinet cleaning cloth should work fine) drop the string through the neck and do it a few times, making sure that you get it really good razz . you can use this same cloth to clean your mouthpiece(using a brush TOO much will scratch the mouthpiece and change how it sounds).

the sponge cloth you shouldn't have to worry about the string coming off, but the other cloth it's best if it isn't simply tied on. cut a little slit near one of the corners(make sure it's a hole in the cloth, and that it doesn't extend all the way out of the cloth) and then tie a LOOP in the string(don't tie it through the cloth yet) after you have your loop made, put the not looped side of the string through the hole in the cloth and then put the string through the loop, pull that tight and you should be good to go.

Two of my keys are always sticky, and they've been cleaned plenty of times (you know pulling the paper underneath, and all that jazz), but they always seem to go back to being sticky again, only a few minutes after they've been cleaned. It's upsetting.
