Ligeia did his best to focus on both what he was doing and what his teacher was saying without picturing all of the things that he had mentioned, there would be time for dreaming up that stuff later. He focused more on the two elements that would create 'his' element, a little smile appearing on his lips as he felt the sparkings of power and saw the results, nothing huge but he could feel in his hands the dampness of the element water that he was work on as it flickered in and out of exsistance before holding. Ligeia's eyes went wide feeling something between delight at seeming the water there and shock, as if he weren't expecting it maybe?
'Focus. Only half what I need.' He told himself, holding the water in one hand and worked on trying to do the same thing, to gather the wind element as well without losing the water. Then the trick would be to combine them.

Thomas watched quietly, his hawk like eyes never leaving the boy's face as he focused on the spell, listening to his thoughts. Whenever Legia found himself getting distracted he'd hear a mental snapping sound, like when Thom snapped his fingers to get the class's attention back to the lecture. Focus was everything- it became easier with time but for beginners it was essential and required undivided attention.

The divided between two basic elements thing was a little hard to do, this would be something that he would need to practice. The moment there was this thought he heard the snapping sound and he turned all attention back to his focus. The wind came to him slowly, taking a bit longer to call up then the water but it was there, shifting in his hand. Ligeia gave a little smile as he looked down at the two elements. Both of them flickered as if they were going to go out so he focused harder into them to try to stabalize them.
Ok, now to combine them. Thomas had brought the two of them together and there was that little flash of power as the two became one. He took a steadying sort of breath before he brought his hands together, letting the two touch. There was that flash, a puff outwards of the combined power, and Ligeia gave a little jump as the white air and snow seemed to cover his fingers.
Was... Cold. He wasn't used to feeling the cold as he was pretty immune to it, this was different. He looked down at the shimmering ball in his hand, the Ice Element. He lifted it up to look it over, it wasn't as strong as Thomas' sphere but... but he had done it! He gave a bright smile, excited as he held it out to the teacher to see.

Thomas made a quiet sound of approval in the back of his throat at the small orb of ice, "Very well done. Whenever you have spare time and energy to do this I want you to practice over and over. Eventually you will not need to create wind and water, rather you can summon the ice element to you directally. It takes a bit more energy and will take you being very familar with this element. The feeling of it, the aura that surrounds it."
He stepped forward with his own orb. "Now. I will demonsrate your first attacking spell using this element and I want you to do your best in doing as I have done." He held his hands out in front of him, the orb moved around inbetween them, spinning faster an faster. Soon a spike of ice formed in front of it. Thomastook a deep breath then exhailed, sending the spike of ice forward accross the room. It pinned itself to one of the wooden walls in the back.
"In time, you will be able to freeze the water in the air to form these, and more than one. In order to form the spike you must command your element to do so. Command the ice element in your hand to create an icicle. Focus on the form of the icacle, the element is a part of you so in thinking it- you are in fact commanding it. Once the spike is formed you'll need to call on the wind element and have it shoot it as aprojectile. This is why it's important to know your base elements, Legia. In this one simple spell you are working with both water and wind in order to make this attack work. Without water there is nothing to freeze and without wind there is nothing to carry the spike out towards your target. I do not believe you will do it the first time around but it is something that will be on your final. Try."

He nodded as he transferred the holding of the orb from one hand to the other, back and forth and he smiled at it. He'd gotten it to work so he was put into a better mood then was normal, good to great. He then looked up with complete attention upon Thomas, wanting to see the attack spell that he was talking about, eyes going wide and a little eep escaping him when the spine of ice suddenly went shotting forward to bury itself in the wall, "Woah..." He breathed, clearly impressed by the workings of that spell.
He looked down at his own orb then back up to where the ice spine had landed, he would have to do that for his final he thought to himself. The final was important so he was going to have to do as Thomas had told him and practice when he had the time and energy for it, so that he would be able to do it right.
For now though he did as told and made an attempt at calling up the spine, he really wanted to do it. Even if it weren't something that would be probably he would try. He concentrated upon the sphere in his hand to try to get it to become a spine... and for the effort it did TRY. There were a few times when a bit of the tip of a spine would press out of the orb for a moment before sinking back in, only to come out in another place and vanish back again. It rather looked to Ligeia like some small bird trying to poke out of an egg.

Thomas snapped and the element dispursed back into his aura, sheding a few idle snowflakes down onto the ground. Seemed the boy was catching on faster than most. It would be tricky for him to shoot the iceacle. It would involve him manipulating three elements rather than just one by itself, he certainly had his work cut out for him.
To say the least, Thomas was quietly impressed to already see a bit of the small spike poking around inside the raw ice element. He was catching on quite quickly- or perhaps the children of this land had more of a talent for things that normally came with more practice to his kind.
"Very good, Legia." He noted quietly, masking his emotions once again in his voice, "Keep working at it and your final should be nothing for you."

Ligeia looked up at the teacher then gave a smile and a nod, "I will practice hard." He said, then glanced down at the shimmering ice element in his hands. Thomas had let his vanish and it made him wonder, "Should I release the element for now as well?" He asked.
Was class done with for now?

Thomas nodded slowly, "The longer you call the element to you the more it will drain your spirit and the more weary you will become. Practice as much as your soul can stand until you're able to carry it for an extended period of time. Be sure to practice the spell I taught you and learn to stretch your energy farther and farther. There's no use in a spell that cannot barely move from the element."
He flicked his wrist towards the door, unlatching the lock and allowing it to open. "And remember to use your head... I've lost two students this semester to fool-hearted games... you are no longer a child. This company was founded to create soldiers not happy little animals that can shoot fire and play with dragons. Keep that in mind."
He took a seat at his desk, "You're excused."

Ligeia let the element in his hand to fade and released it, he gave a little smile, "I will make sure to practice at it." He said, he was going to figure the spell out, it was strong spell.
This was the second time that Thomas had mention them being made to be soldiers, it really did make him curious. Soldiers for... what? Soldiers were made to fight things, what was it that they were made to fight?
"I will make sure to be very careful." He said, he didn't mean to let himself or Vorel get hurt if he could help it. The owl child rose to his feet, holding a hand out to Vorel, "Come on." He said then headed out. He had his work set out for him with the spell he was supposed to learn for his final.
He stopped at the door looking over to the teacher, "Thank you for the class." He said, smiling brightly before he headed off.
