Thera nodded to Moir's admittance, knowing that she wouldn't be able to see in the combined darkness and weather. A resentful admission of defeat was better than none at all, and she took Moir's recognition of her words in positively. "Well met, then, Moir?" she said slyly, focusing on Moir's pompous display of her chin on the corner of her eye.
She took no notice of Moir's retort while moving ahead brightly, and instead contemplated on Moir's reply to her experience around the mountains. It seemed as if Moir lived around here, but not really; if so, then why would she not be voicing those facts of her home?
"Very good," Thera said slowly, still unsure of what to ask next. Or perhaps she should keep quiet until the two reached their destination... Yes, that would have been the best way to go about it.
And so it seemed the two travelled in silence until the ground beneath Thera's hooves transitioned into rockier, harder surface--there were barely any traces of grass left when she immediately stopped, unaware of where Moir had taken her to. "Moir -- do you recognize --"
A few assorted, wet rocks had come tumbling down a hidden slope towards the companions, causing the interruption within Thera's sentence, also making her sidestep into Moir again; though this time, the collision wasn't as rough, as it was merely a bump of contact. "Excuse that," she voiced through the rain that seemed to worsen over the course of their time. "What do you think, Moir?"

Moir's black eyes fell upon the other mare and the frown remain plastered across her face. "Well met?" What did Thera mean by that? The question made no sense to Moir and she treated it in just that way: by not asking or replying in any other way to that topic. Though it couldn't really be considered a topic for that matter... The mare rolled her eyes at her own thoughts and released a quiet sigh that she doubted anyone would be able to hear over the rain droplets continuously pelting the ground. For a second Moir wondered where Thera chose to often dwell... After all Moir had admitted to herself that she had choose to reside primarily near the mountains; even if she didn't know why. Perhaps Thera would have a reason for where she chose to stay and Moir could build off of that. However, the grim mare decided against saying anything since she was not one who enjoyed striking up conversation. The mare was slightly taken aback when the other spoke; also curious as to her reason for speaking. Moir hadn't said anything... Perhaps the mare was one of those who constantly needed to talk or have someone around them who was talking? The mare closed her eyes and gave a shake of her head in what might have been a sense of pity; if she were capable of such an emotion. The pair of alicorn's hooves beats could just barely be heard over the rain as the ground changed from that of the grassy clearing to the rocky terrain of the mountain. Moir listened to Thera but side stepped a few paces after being bumped into; she simply nodded though instead of being hostile to Thera like she had the first time she had collided into her. The fallen rocks lay on the ground in the place the brown mare had just been standing. The mare's black eyes scanned the area; squinting through the darkness and rain. She gestured to Thera with her muzzle. "I believe if we go this way we'll come upon a cave soon enough." The mare remembered one cave in particular right in this area that would be large enough for them both to escape the storm, which was quickly increasing in monstrosity. Moir set off in that direction; looking over her shoulder once to make sure Thera was with her.

It had already seemed like Thera had ignored most of Moir's questions, but she left them unanswered for a reason -- well, didn't they answer for themselves? Thera never really was the talkative type, but she would get into heated arguments if she was made to. However, it was quite a long time since she had seen any social activity in her days. That was the curse of the traveler's--staying in one place for a day, gone somewhere else for the next, sparsely meeting companions in between. However, Moir brought an end to that curse, and Thera would soon come to find that she would appreciate this bond greatly.
Thera patiently waited while Moir observed the terrain; she felt a bit helpless and at a loss at whether she should aid Moir's vision or not. It was not the least bit satisfactory feeling lost in the rain. But Moir proved helpful when she acknowledged their positions, and Thera followed gratefully right behind her.
Soon, she realized the entrance to a fitting cave as it emerged from darkness; it was getting harder to see as the night progressed its way in time. It would be a suitable home for tonight, with the company of her own kind. Quite a comforting thought indeed. "I am thankful I found you through this rough patch of night!" she said cheerfully, attempting to liven up both of their spirits. "Shall we?" she motioned for Moir to move in first, as she was ahead anyways.

Moir reached the cave and turned to see Thera behind her and she motioned to the entrance. The other mare seemed to inspect the outline of the cave's opening before speaking. When she responded, her voice was a tad lighter and friendlier in tone for the first time Moir could ever remember. "I suppose I should say the same to you." A grateful sort of expression appeared on the mare's face. "The weather has progressively gotten worse..." Moir didn't finish her sentence; assuming Thera would understand what she meant. The mare bowed her head and proceeded first into the cave followed of course by Thera as they escaped the rain of the storm. Moir walked in and turned around, watching the white droplets of rain, that stood out against the otherwise black canvas in front of them, as they fell. Unsure whether Thera would want to lie down or stand, Moir simply choose to remain standing for the moment. Quietly she asked Thera, "So what were you doing out during this weather anyway?" Even though Moir had not provided a sufficient answer when the other mare asked her the same question she didn't think it was unreasonable to ask the same question.

As Moir entered, Thera hesitated behind without notice. She sensed something lighter in Moir's voice, and it almost shocked her; was the other alicorn not entirely grumpy after all? A fervent smile appeared on Thera's face permanently as she finally followed into the cave. At the border between the wave of rain droplets and cave, however, she took a moment to shake her head thoroughly to feel drier, taking care to not bother Moir with any of the unnecessary moisture.
In the midst of her getting the water off of herself, Thera was alarmed when Moir inquired something of her. She was nearly done with drying off either way, so she turned around, taking a few strides towards the inner sanctum of the cave and Moir, and replied, "Well... It is a long story, I suppose. I hadn't chosen this weather, no, but I am a traveler from another land."
She stopped, gazing at Moir for a brief moment before continuing, "As I said, it would take a while for me to explain, but long story short for now, this is my first time to these lands, and I was out scouting while my hawk companion stayed in our last refuge. Her name is Aldora, and she is, to my benefit, more wise than me at times -- she had chosen to stay home, nice and warm, and me --" she motioned to the rain pouring dreadfully outside with her wing, "--well, you know what happened. Started raining as soon as I left our place, goodness knows why I didn't turn back. But I guess it is good because... well, I found you?" She gave a sheepish smile and proceeded further into the back of the cave so that the sounds of the rain would quell themselves, all the while motioning for Moir to follow, and attempting to explain herself further.
"I don't know about you, but you know, I haven't seen anyone around except for my hawk friend... What a coincidence to find someone that is, dare I say, just like me." She stopped and turned to Moir once more, hoping that the other would understand her. It was a very long time since she had contact with another alicorn, whose race seemed to be in short supply nowadays.
"If that didn't offend... Anyways, how about we situate ourselves down here for now?" she suggested as she plopped down gracefully upon the cold stone floor. She folded her wings beside her tightly, as if to blanket her body to retain warmth. "A bit cold, but I guess it will warm up once we've adapted. You should come closer so our body heat could intermingle?" She chuckled at her own advice, as it sounded a bit too silly for her even, but the occasion was too comforting to merit any sort of belligerence or restraint.

Moir listened intently as Thera answered her question. A traveler from another land? The mare repeated in her head. This mare was proving to more interesting as Moir seemed to get to know her better. She choose to be polite and not interrupt Thera at all as she told her story. The sound of the rain seemed to be incredibly distance as Moir concentrated on her voice; the tiny droplets hitting the ground seemed to be miles away in comparison to the sound of Thera's voice. It was somewhat serene in a sense. Moir followed along behind Thera toward the back of the cave and proceeded to lie beneath her; taking her suggestion about body warmth into consideration. Although Moir usually wasn't one to get close she allowed it this time since they after all seemed to be forming a mutual respect and friendship for one another. After she was certain Thera had finished Moir began to comment on what she had heard; though she wasn't quite sure how much about herself she should really reveal to this mare. They hadn't known each other very long after all and the way Thera made it sound was almost as if she would be leaving soon anyway and then she would be just a part of Moir past as everything else was. And if she didn't leave, then the two would have another chance to perhaps find out more about the other's past. "You are somewhat like I am then I suppose... Though I would not necessarily call myself a traveler, I also came from another land." Moir paused for a moment allowing herself to focus on the rain falling outside the cave briefly before looking back at the other mare. She choose not to say anything else about her past; it was after all very private and Moir didn't enjoy recalling the memories. "This hawk though... Aldora... Why does she accompany you?" Moir whom had little contact with others had never heard of such an absurd idea of familiars and their relations with their own kind. Thinking back upon the hawk Moir wondered how far their refugee was from where her and Thera were currently seeking shelter from the storm. "That is only of course if you consider finding me a good thing." Moir jested. The mare was almost tempted to laugh at her own silliness as Thera had done but it was much too soon for Moir to act of that nature. "I have never seen any others like us." She admitted to Thera. Of course Moir had seen other soquili; she just had always chosen to avoid interaction with them. She assumed Thera would understand she meant alicorns. Moir paused a few moments before adding, "How long do you think the storm will last?" Once more turning her attention to the raging weather outside the cave.

Throughout her monologue, it almost seemed like, Thera appreciated Moir's utmost attention and undisrupted silence. Good listeners were very hard to find, even in the days when Thera socialized herself amongst those of her kind; she took the favor and granted it back in return to Moir, as Thera herself stayed still, taking in her companion's words seriously. So the two had more in common than just looks! She kept a smile to herself as she shifted into a more comfortable positioning on the floor.
As a question came her way about Aldora, she hesitated and for a moment, was stumped for an explanation. The two had been, well, bonded for some time, so it was almost as if Moir was asking Thera why there were two wings on her sides instead of just one!
"Well, I suppose it just happens that way, Moir. You haven't got one?" She stared into the darkness and toyed with an idea, "Well, we've got to find you a suitable mate like that then, now won't we?" She let a breath of laughter escape her mouth before trying to continue further, "I guess we just found each other one day and we hit it off quite well. Like how you and I are doing right now!" A glint showed in her eyes as she allowed herself to go back to the times she had spent with Aldora. "She's there for me, and I for her, so it works out quite well... And of course I'm glad I ran into you--well, not literally, of course," she hid an embarrassed chuckle as she said that, "but I am honored, if that's a way to put it, to be in your company tonight. Yes, this stormy night... Well..."
Her attention turned towards the entrance of the cave, which now brought back the heavy wear and tear of the reality of the weather outside. It sent a chill up her spine, and Thera shivered once in reaction. "Well, I don't think it'll let up soon... So I suppose we will spend the night together then, Moir?" She blinked as the idea both surprised and pleased her. It was the first soquili she had seen in a long time, she was of her own race at that, and she would already be spending a night with her? What coincidental circumstances indeed.
"But to pass the time, Moir, have you permanently come to these lands for good, now? Anything that... made you decide to up and off your last home?" She had inquired very gently and in a soft tone, hoping to not strike any chords or touch any sensitive spots. She knew that she left her own home because of disasters in her life that she would have preferred to not go through once more. New lands to her meant new possibilities, but she had never really found the right one, which is why she was always traveling.

Moir tilted her head in question at the mare. It just happens that way? The way Thera answered made it seem as if every Soquili should have a hawk accompanying them or something like that. "No I don't have one..." She had a cautious tone to her voice; as if not having one could be considered a bad thing; however Thera seemed to be rather cheerful about the entire matter. "Find me... a suitable mate?" Moir eyes were wide due to a mix of confusion and horror. So many things about Thera's last sentence seemed drastically wrong. First off, Moir had no intention of finding a mate. Second off, the way the other mare had said that made it sound as if Aldora were her mate. Moir shook her head; there was no way that something of that caliber could be possible. It must have all just been a misunderstanding. "Right..." Came the slow drawl of Moir's voice after Thera continued about Aldora and her, and then her and Moir hitting it off. The lilac mare was greatly relieved when the subject of the conversation turned back onto the storm outside. "I agree. I had been out in the rain for a long time before we collided and it hasn't stopped raining once since then... In fact it has gotten progressively worse." It didn't bother Moir in the least that she was stating obvious facts; and she of course knew Thera was fully aware of all this as well. "Yes, it doesn't seem like we have any other choice." Although her words wouldn't imply anything friendly between them her tone told otherwise. Moir considered Thera's question for a few moments before answering. "I would have to say that. I'm not highly fond of traveling and something about these lands just seemed to... click, I guess you could say, after I spent some time here." Again she paused, thinking how to best answer Thera's questions. "I wouldn't consider any other place I've been to as a 'home' really. Until I reached these lands I had constantly been traveling since I was a small foal. That's ancient history though..." The mare turned her head away from Thera; and a look of indifference fell upon Moir's face. Her black eyes stared at the rain; hiding all emotion of her past. She snorted quietly and turned back to the brown mare. "Do you plan on staying in this area or will you and your hawk venture to some other lands?" It would be nice to have Thera as company in this area; yet if she choose to leave if gave Moir even less incentive to tell the brown mare much more than she already had.

Thera nodded kindly to Moir with a slight smile on her mouth, and though she was not quite sure Moir had taken to her words, she was glad nonetheless that she listened, and possibly even considered. And though it seemed the subject had ended for now, Thera knew one day her companion Aldora would get to know the purple alicorn beside her.
During Moir's explanation, she merely nodded once again, not wishing to add further obvious facts to Moir's own. Though... it wasn't as much of an explanation as much as a reaffirmation of what Thera thought. She shrugged it off and questioned no more.
Moir's answer, though the words denoted rudeness, told Thera that her tone implied a positive agreement. This made her joyful, for the moment, until there was a slight break from that when Moir had continued to answer. It seemed there was a touch of pain almost hidden in the slice of her story, and Thera could say nothing more than "I see." As Moir looked away, Thera's gaze remained locked on her; she had only wished to be able to comfort her, but she did not have the knowledge to, much less capabilities to do so at the moment. If only she knew more about where Moir had come from, she wouldn't be afraid to touch a soft spot.
And as Moir finally turned back, Thera replied to her, "Honestly... Right now, I haven't the faintest, Moir..." Her head turned up to the ceiling of the cave, as if the answer was etched into the dark stone. Her question also seemed to desire something--perhaps Moir had intended for Thera to stay? But that couldn't be possible, though Thera did find an obvious connection to the other alicorn. "Wherever the winds will us," she replied shortly after with a smile. Looking at Moir, she promised, "But if I do leave, I'll surely look for you again to have a last word."
As Thera said that, she made sure she had met eye contact with Moir, and it was understood that it was not a casual lie. "These lands do have a few incentives, though..." she added as an afterthought before continuing, "And are you tired yet?"
