A black nose twitched. An orange lion had just been passing by on his way to the watering hole when he'd smelled it. Blood. He'd last smelled it when the elder six of his fourteen adopted brothers and sisters had been born. At least, the particular sort of blood. It came with new cubs. Curiosity tugged at him and he bid into it, heading closer. Mewls filled his ears. Mingled scents invaded his nose, not just those of the cubs, but others. One of the huntresses he'd seen from a distance, another he'd also seen before... And the slowly dissipating scent of Kianga, a lioness he also barely knew. So few he knew, but the cubs... He approached slowly, spying the other two already there.
Ears perked up as he listened. He made sure to make noise so they'd hear him. Sneaking up on others was not something he particularly enjoyed, especially since his last attempt to hide his presence had been thwarted by a mob of beetles. "Hey... What's going on..?" Curiosity tugged at every lion, and Danzi was no exception.

((Hope it's still okay, :3 *nudges Tai out there*))
She had been in the Pridelands for a few weeks now, long enough that her acceptance had been by the previous, deceased King Mufasa. Mostly keeping to herself until recently, Tai now found herself drawing towards a small gathering of lions, curious as to what the commotion was about. The area smelled of birth, blood, new life...
"Hello....? Is everything alright here? Does someone need help?" She called ahead non-obtrusively, padding closer on swift and silent paws. Her white stood out against the wheat colors of the grasses, her icy blue eyes curiously surveying the scene as Tai drew to a stop near the lions, curiously glancing to each present. Finally, her eyes rested on the female that she had assumed to be the mother at first, until spotting the pelts of the little ones, and the fact that the nursing female was actually pregnant herself still. "Oh my..."

Understanding what the green lioness was getting at, Mtima did her best to help the small ones get to the warm nourishment. It was most certainly something they needed, and would need for a good deal of time following this. She offered a small, appreciative smile to Na'ilah but was startled out of watching by the sounds of two other lions approaching.
She looked at the two, two knew lions she'd never met before but both looking either curious or concerned. She frowned and glanced back at the cubs.
"We've found some newborns," she explained, "They.. may have been abandoned, by the looks of things."

Abandoned? She didn't think something like that would happen in the pridelands, everyone here seemed to have adoring families (save a certain alter-ego'ed lion not much unlike her former self), why on Earth would someone abandon their children? There was plenty of food, space, a friendly environment...?
"I see... That's so sad..." Tai murmered in response, looking to the females and male now to finally introduce herself. "I'm Tai, one of the pride's nannies. Does anyone recognize the scent at all?"
~I'll inform the queen. She's more likely to know who the mother could have been. I'd seen a few lions and lionesses with coloring like theirs but I'm afraid I don't know any by name, and I can't recall any of them being pregnant.~ She thought to herself.

Mtima nodded to show her agreement with Tai about the sadness of the situation. Then she was surprised by the introduction, for she had compeltely forgotten about the polite gesture.
"I'm Mtima'safi," she introduced herself, and then her gold and blue eyes turned to the cubs as she struggled to recall why the scent and the color was so familiar. Or, moreso, she tried to recall spefically who it was that she'd met.
"Kianga?" she said suddenly, "I think that's who it reminds me of.." It had not been too long ago, especially by an immortals standard, that she'd been one of the first to welcome the delightful red lioness back to Pridelands. Could she be their mother? But she'd said she loved cubs, and that made the situation more mysterious.

"I can't say that I know her, myself. I've only seen a few lionesses in passing with coats even close to this shade of red, and there are so many with black. If they were really abandoned we might never track down their original mother or father."
And, why had they been left? Did something happen to the mother, like with her own? Taken away by a posessive mate?
"I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound pessimistic. Maybe one of us can look after them until their mother or father are found?"

"They'll need to stay where there is food for them," Mtima said, looking at Tai, who seemed to be the most conversational and the quickest to think about what needed to be done for them. At the remark, though, she looked over to Na'ilah, who was nursing them and presenting herself as quite the possibility. The goddess saw more there than just Na'ilah, the cubs and a pregnant belly- she could see exactly how many little lives there were in there. Surely she was in for quite the handful, would she care for more? Then there was herself, not quite back to normal from nursing her own cubs. And no doubt there were countless others in such a large pride capable of feeding and caring for newborns.
"I can't imagine why Kianga would do this," she said, looking back at Tai, "Her family lives here at the rock, I think, this is where I met her. Perhaps they'd know somewhere she might have gone."

Softening a bit as the cubs nursed, Na'ilah gazed at the two newcomers and gave them a small smile. In such a sad situation, a little uplifting could be welcomed. "Hello." As they spoke about the cubs, ears drooped slightly before she lowered her head to lick each of them like a mother would. Perhaps it would help them feel at home since it would appear their mother had abandoned them. Raising her head slowly as a name appeared, it was familiar. Introducing herself, "I'm Na'ilah. It's a pleasure to meet you on such unfortunate circumstances." Eyes widen, "Kianga? I know of her! She was supposed to be traveling with my youngest daughter...but if she's given birth and ran off...what's to say happened to Shimah?" Worry filled the green lioness as she hoped that nothing happend to her daughter. She wouldn't have made the connection between the cubs and Kianga for she had never officially met her daughter's friend, just heard her name.

Nabila Siti trooted towards the main den, but was nearly run over by an orange lioness. Siti sniffed the air, the female smelled funny. It was a familiar smell but Siti couldnt put her nose on it. She was a bit weery she had never been around here before, but she heard food was plentiful so she came. As she came closer the scent form the female she encounter before returned, and curiosity made Siti head in the direction of the scent. She came to the entrance of a den with a wide mixture of smells coming from it, but the scent from the orange female was strongest. "Hello," calls Siti timidly, she didn't see many other lions and was a bit shy.Nabila Siti

Mtima blinked and looked back over to Na'ilah at the declaration that her daughter should be travelling with her. She frowned a bit, "Has your daughter not been home lately? I know Kianga was here, but perhaps I am mistaken in this situation..?" The goddess glanced down to the cubs and deicded she likely wasn't.. then a stranger appeared in the corner of her eye.
"Hello," she called back to the stranger, turning her head in her direction.

Siti looked over to the lioness. She had walked into a birthing or had she. She looked at the green female, she was still pregnant. "I hope I am not intruding, but the scent drew me in. Im am Siti and I am new to these parts. The scent in here is very similar to the scent coming from female who nearly ran me over a while back. She looked very much like the little male cub you have there." Siti smiled she was young but loved cubs and wanted some of her own as soon as possible. "May I ask why are there so many lions in here, those cubs look fairly new?"

Siti looked over the lioness' in the den. All of them looked so magnificent in her opinion. She smiled as she looked at the little cubs, oh how she longed for a cub. She edged slowly but eagerly, she just wanted to take a peek. A small peek and she would be on her way. She looked around as she egded ever so slowly forward, she knew none of these lions and she was making a bold move approaching new born cubs, but curiosity got the better of her. She looked over both cubs and gently sniffed each one at a time. Her questions still loomed over her head, but she was in awe by the cubs. She backed away and took a seat with the others. She smiled and watched the cubs. Oh how she longed for cub, but mating would be required for that and she didnt know very many animals

"Siti," Mtima repeated after the new lioness introduced herself, and then looked surprised, "You saw Kianga? Which way was she running?" The disguised goddess looked back and around, as if she would suddenly spot the lioness in the distance but no such luck.
"Perhaps someone could go look for her, if we know which way?" she murmured, looking back to all the other lions around. Her gold and blue eyes glanced to Siti as she examined the cubs curiously, and then back to the others.

Siti looked to the lioness who just spoke. "Kianga, is that the lioness' name. Last I saw she running eat. I hope she hasnt gone to far. But why are you looking for her. Are these her cubs?" Siti looked around rather confused. She asks quietly, "she didnt abandon them did she."
Siti looked sad. She hadnt been abandoned, but her parents died when she was still a cub. "Poor cubs," she whispers shaking her head. Then she looks up at lioness again. "I'm sorry, I told you my name but I didnt ask yours."

((Eeep, so so sorry surprised Things got away from me this week))
As welcome as he was for food and warmth, this large green blob's milk tasted different to the brief nourishment he'd experienced from his mother. He nursed only intermittenly, wriggling against his sister occasionally, who was quite the little pig when it came to feeding.
The vast amount of voices and colours that had now materialised the male cub's tiny world was confusing and quite distressing. He began to mewl for no apparent reason, finding it hard even to relax with his sister's comfort.
