famusamu I didn't mean for it to sound self-centered, I meant being Jewish on a 'ethnic' level, not a 'religious' one. And on a religious level Jews are called G-d's Chosen, He chose us of all the people's of the Earth to give His Name too and has called for us to be a light unto the Gentiles. Not in the context of "better-than", but to be an example of good morals and strong values. See that could be part of it, I always think of Judaism on the religious level. And religiously... I dunno. The whole chosen-people thing has always bugged me a little. I don't think about it too much, but if I do it bothers me. And besides, many of the Christians I know are better about moral behavior than the Jews I know. Compare a USY convention to the Lutheran thing my friend Heather went to and it's crazy. They were (apparently) much more moral in their behavior than the USYers I know.

oh em jyu On a guild-organization note, I think I'll get all the curious Christians in the guild to compile some sort of permanent Christians-wondering-about-Judaism thread. Every so often we get people in here wondering a lot of the same things, and I think it'd be easier to consolidate these threads. That would be great! Not to try to plug my own guild or anything, but I've created a guild that I hope will create an open dialog between Jews and Christians on gaia, that will discuss what each faith believes, discuss what we have in common, discuss what Messianic Judaism believes, and to explore the Jewishness of Christianity. http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/index.php?page_mode=4&guild_id=5728

Were you supposed to find out about that? I probably shouldn't be telling people about that... My parents might get nervous about sending me to Fall Convention in November. eek

Why exactly are you Jewish? Have you converted over to Judiasm? Were you born into a Jewish family? Have you sought anything else? Keep the responses as brief or as long as you choose, anything will help. Thanks for reading --Timo

Something that I forgot to mention before was that as I got older, I just started really understanding what the religion meant more and more to myself and in general, so I started taking a deeper interest in it, such as joining my temple youth group, joining this guild, etc. It just seemed to "fit" as to be any other religion just seemed strange. A rather intense but true statement: I would rather die then give up my religion. Wow that sounds all serious-like. xd
