Actually, in the anime, Lyserg does get turned in to a vampire! But that's what they think. It seems that Lyserg has been turned in to a vampire but he was just bit by someone who was pretending to be a vampire. It was a pretty good act!
The guy pretending to be a vampire is Boris who works for Hao. He bites people on the neck and transfers his guardian ghost in to the body of the person he bit. His spirit will posses the person who was bit and it will seem that he has become a vampire! Ren was able to figure that one out. Oh and Boris got killed by the X-LAWS. That made Yoh and the others really annoyed and mad.
This happened in episodes 35 and 36! Lyserg left Yoh and the others on episode 36. Then they met Chocolove on episode on episode 37! It was pretty cool! Plus there's reference to Dracula!! I love how Shaman King is so realted to real life! =3
Highlight the above for a huge spoiler about Lyserg and the vampire thing. C:

Well, it's a huge spoiler if you've never even seen the episode... XD I didn't really like that episode, though. Lyserg was being mean to Yoh and the others. I like episode 60 more when he joins up with them again. That was cool.

It makes sense in his own logic but I don't really like his sense of logic... It's a bit unnerving... XD He's so willing to kill Hao that he'll kill others. Even the innocent.

Their death leads to the downfall of Hao. So even in death, they each did a good thing. 3nodding That's the reasoning.

KirliaEmi Their death leads to the downfall of Hao. So even in death, they each did a good thing. 3nodding That's the reasoning. That's where Yoh's reasoning comes in! He says that since the X-LAWS kill innocent people, they're just as bad as Hao! That's why Yoh doesn't like 'em. And the X-LAWS kill people who they think are just bad... Like those Egyptian shamans... I didn't like that episode. But I also feel sad that all of the X-LAWS died except for Jeanne and Marco but Lyserg just left the group to join up with Yoh again!
