Good, he was fine. She settled into the chair, curling her tail into her lap again, casually fussing at the end like she might have done with the edge of her skirt. Mostly just setting her hands on it, and giving it a brush off here and there. It was distracting, no matter how long she'd had the appendage now she still wasn't used to it being there.

But, she could stare at her tail like a druggy did with their hand at home, right now her and Gaius were speaking of food... Which, without him knowing, had probably been the second worst subject he could have picked. And he'd already covered the first. Gaius was really striking out on this one, wasn't he? She nodded to his right, yep... She could force down other things, and she before, but after the last change things like that made her sick. Like a mild food poisoning. She slumped at the vegetarian part, suddenlly giving a smile all too wide to be real. "Aa, yea, Salads are nice... I used to eat them alot, i mean... It is nice not to have to change that?" She fumbled, almost cringing when her own voice met her ears. Goodness she was horrible at lieing. But she couldn't let him know she ate bugs! That was horrible. "So not too hard, for salads, There are lots of worse things than that... Like bugs. Those would be hard to eat... I would think..." She decided to shut up while there was still a chance for him to beleive her. Her eyes had long ago dropped to her own tail, switching between that and the wall to her side... Way to go Natsumi.

Gaius' eyes trailed with her attention down to her tail, the part that had led to his assumption of her serum... He had no idea the grief it'd already caused her. Nor, apparantly, did he have any clue she was lying through her teeth. With the lack of talent in that area came an equal disability to detect it, so Gaius just grinned and nodded, eating up everything she said that agreed with his view. "Yeah, you know what I'm talking about! I, actually..."He glanced around, but since they were the only ones in the wash room, it wasn't like they'd be overheard... by any islander. Still, his voice dropped as he spoke.

"...I think that Newt fellow eats those bugs he collects! Being a frog and all, I wouldn't put it past him, but, gah!" He shuddered, making a face. "Can you imagine that?"

She pulled her eyes back as he spoke... He beleived her? Hah! Score one for the Japanese girl. Wait no, lieing was bad... Her conciance gave her a sudden dose of guilt, but... If he knew... Geh. What would he think? If he thought having to eat salads were bad, bugs would certiantly be horrible. She thought it was horrible, and she was the one doing it for every meal of the day.

She gave a soft nervious giggle, watching as he glanced around the room, automatically leaning forward as his voice dropped a pitch or two. Leave it to the girl fresh out of highschool to know how to react to a gossiping tone. She practically choked on her breath as he spoke, though. Newt, ofcourse, poor guy... hard to lie about something like that when your tongue snaps out to grab any bug you think about eating. She'd seen it happen, afterall. But Newt was the one who tried to hard to make her comfortable with eating those bugs. Oh look, mr.conciance was back with another heaping supply of guilt. Maybe she should go see Newt? She gave another nervious giggle at Gaius' face, giving a shake of her head. "No... I could not. It must be awful wanting to eat something of that sort, ne?" whoops, Japanese was slipping out.

"Just feel bad for him... it's not his fault, I guess, since it's the labs that did all this after all..." He shook his head, ever so confident in his little bubble. Sure, he had it bad, but not as bad as some, his mind said.

"Maybe I can find some foreign recipe using crickets for him... gotta be better than raw..." He rubbed his chin, but his thoughts were interrupted by the dinging of the washer. Automatically he stepped forward, hauling the warm clothing out and stuffing them into his bag.

"Sorry, I've probably been grossing you out with all this talk of eating bugs," he said as he glanced up at Natsumi, smiling warmly. "I'll have to make it up to you sometime... Which duplex are you in?"

Natsumi nodded, fussing with her tail again. "Yes..." she agreed, even if she had to eat bugs too she felt worse for Newt... Just because he was Newt. He seemed the type not to deserve such things, he had enough problems... Like the stutter, and apparently now he was looking hidious. Who wouldn't feel bad for Newt?

"Maybe." she nodded to Gaius' thinking outloud, eyes darting to the dryer that now went off. Hm, time sure flew... And hey look, she hadn't had to glance to the door or around a dark corner the whole time she was there. Going back out of the laundry room was going to be a different story... But she'd take the small victory when she could.

"No, not at all." She gave a reassuring smile, probably telling the truth on that subject for the first time. She'd become used to the bugs for the most part... Still got creeped out here and there, but hte worst part was worrying about how many other people thought it was gross. Hm? Make it up to her? "I am in 46." She answered automatically, about to ask what he meant by making it up but before she could her own dryers went off, to which she quickly hopped up to fetch, dropping them in the basket, then taking them to a table to fold, couldn't just throw them in and walk off, they'd get wrinkly, afterall. She looked back up to Gaius from the table, giving a smile in return.

"Fourty-six! Right-o! If I don't forget, I'll drop something by in the next couple weeks." The grin that accompanied his words held a boyish mischief, the kind that said 'I know something you don't know!' In any case, she would just have to wait and see.

Taking the quiet girl's short responses to mean she was busy and not in the mood for more light talk, Gaius hefted his bag again, this time careful of the winglets, and managed to get back to his chair to fetch the walking stick. He almost looked like a hobo or something, clad in dirty shorts, beaten-up bag over his shoulder, and a branch-made-stick in his other hand, besides the way his neck gave him a hunched appearance. Oh yes, quite the noble figure there. At least he could smile, which he did, giving the gecko-girl a little wave as he propped the door open.

"It was nice meeting you, Natsumi! Be sure to keep an eye out!"

Hm? Something? "You do not have to do anything." She tried, but that grin and look made her feel like whatever it was was coming anyways. Bu tif he came to her house he'd see the bug catcher.. and then he'd know she was lieing and.. Oh dear. And at the same time, she felt a bit excited about it... The Island was kinda boring, most the time... A suprise gift was intriguing, and it didn't involve her risking getting eaten by Annie.

He did look rather silly, but she hardly noticed, she hadn't encountered too many hobos in her existance. And she was more focused on fretting about his suprise. But he was so smiley, she couldn't help but smile more.

She shifted, tempted to go help him with the door, but the fear of being next to the open door and letting somethign know she was in there, and the fact he seemed to have it held her back. "It was nice to meet you as well." She returned cherrily, giving a nod. "Be safe." The statement had become almost automatic since the Annie incident... if anyone actually died... Eck. She pushed the throught away returned to folding the clothes.

His eyebrow raised slightly at the 'be safe,' but was accompanied with a brightening of his smile. For all her reservedness, Natsumi was friendly... in her own way. The horse-man nodded to the young girl, calling back, "You too!" before he went out the door.

A merry, half-humming half-singing drifted into the laundry room, fading as Gaius returned to his duplex.
