"Such weird looking creatures...I wonder if they built it or if the beings who did just took interest in them..." Coughing slightly from some dust Thayne walked well around the Malu to look down a perpendicular hall and choked. A blast of fetid rotten air swamped him as his eyes teared up. He backed up into the wall and sat down. The as soon as it had come it was gone and he caught his breath. He looked down the hall and saw little cells with half rusted gates to differentiate each bit. He wasn't sure but as he got up to walk back to the better lit hall he swore he saw fresh blood...

Chael continued to gaze down at the weird object...the creature was one he had never seen...yet by its eyes, he could tell this was something to fear. Biting his lip lightly, he gazed up only to see Thayne look quite disturbed, having to back into the wall before heading back towards him.
Not even wanting to know what he saw, Chael turned his head to look down another lighted hallway. "I think it might be best to stick to the hallways we can see down." He smiled sheepishly, gulping as he began to walk down the lit hallway...yet had a sinking feeling...they wern't alone.

Still coughing "Agreed...I feel there was a reason why Loki came out of here looking like he had." Thayne started looking around, hmm we need something to mark our passing here or something anything so we don't get lost down here He saw nothing usable..well we won't be that long Chael will have to get back to Kiua soon..nothing to worry about
"Well this passage looks well lite and there doesn't seem to be anything strange, lets try it." Thayne began to walk down the second corridor. The panels were different showing scenes of the two legged creatures on weird contraptions being pulled by two horses with a stick with a sharp end out in the desert against each other. Faded red paint was still up on where the beings were stabbed with the sticks. It put Thayne on edge, for whatever lived here was violent if not fascinating at the same time.

Thinking back on Loki's appearence back on that day, Chael gave a shake of his head. He had wondered what had happened to the Malu, and how he had found that baby down here. It really was an odd pairing to say the least. "Lets just be careful, and alert. We really don't know what's down here."
Following alongside Thayne, his eyes wandered over to the pictures on the wall which seemed to fascinate him. They were odd to say the least...really violent actually. Casting a glance over his shoulder, something caught his eye as he stopped, at the end of the hall, a shadowed head peered from around the corner...staring at them. Taking a few steps back with his eyes wide, Chael's legs shook slightly....this had to be worse then the bodies which seemed to linger in the darkened hallways.
"Thayne....we need to run...now." Chael spoke quietly, before lightly checking Thayne with his body before tearing off down the hall. Once reaching the end, his eyes turned left, and right. Both hallways were dark, smelling of a foul and rotting stench....yet the had no choice. Taking a Glance back, he noted another firgure making its way down the hall. It seemed as these cretures made their way down the hall, the glowing cracks between the walls would dim, casting darkness as they walked. Not desiring to make contact with these sublevel dwellers, Chael turned to Thayne and smiled sheepishly. "Looks like we gotta take the chance, lets go." He spoke, before making his way down one of the darkened hallways.

Thayne had stopped to look at the faded mural when chael lightly knocked Thayne with is shoulder and said to run. Without looking around he chased after Chael. When Chael stopped to look back Thayne almost ran into him but managed to not. He also looked down both corridors to see which one was better but wrinkled his nose when he saw they were equal in their dingy and foulness.
"Seems that way" and started to follow Chael down the left passageway. This passage had very scarce amounts of the moss that was dispersed fairly evenly on the seemingly rust stained walls. No discernible mural was visible on the red walls and drops of unknown liquids dripped from the edges of the ceilings to the muddy floors. Thayne visibly shook. He had been nervous before seeing the dead malu but now he feared for his and Chael's lives and now they were lost in the sublevels with unknown scary dwellers of the sublevels.
A large drop of liquid hit a puddle near Thayne and he jumped and yelped at the noise. Sheepishly he looked behind him to see at the end of the hallway a dark blob was creeping down the hallway after them. Thayne gently nudged Chael and quietly "They are following us...We need to find a way out, but if it comes down to that only one of us can escape I will stay and you go you have Kiua and the baby to worry about!"
He fell silent as they were nearing the end of this corridoor, the creature or now creatures were still advancing but at the same pace, not alarming but at a worrying speed. Again the passages looked eerily the same as this one the right hall didn't have the liquid dripping from the ceiling, and Thayne started down that path.

Giving his own shudder, Chael took a deep breath as he had stepped in something warm and rather sticky; deciding not to look down. Breathing in the scent of rot and decay, he almost felt like he could be sick yet knew if they had to escape these malevolent sub dwellers...there was no time for it. Turning his head back to see them approaching, with a rapid heartbeat he pressed on, making sure to follow closely to Thayne and keep the distance between them and the shadow creatures.
"Nice try, Thayne." Chael mused faintly, glancing about in the darkness. "I'm not leaving without you. Either we both go, or neither will. What kind of friend, father and mate would I be if I abandoned someone I care about? Come, lets hurry" He nudged Thayne's side with his wing, pressing on down the passageway with careful steps. However, something began to feel weird to Chael as his nose felt unusually cold in these incredibly moist and heated passageways. Frowning for a second, it soon turned into a look of excitement and releief as he turned to Thayne. "Take a deep breath, I think I smell Fresh air!" He eagerly stated, trotting in a faster pace down the hall as he followed the crisp air ahead.

Thayne grinned "Well thats true but Kiua would have killed me if only I got out safe!" Thayne tried to breath through his maw, due to the unrelenting stench of the tunnel, and was suprised when Chael told him to take a deep breath. Doing so he smiled since the foul smell had abated considerably "I think you are right Chael!" He followed suite and almost broke into a trot, but feared the creatures behind them would quicken their own pace.
As they got closer to the end of the tunnel it was not a wall which greeted them but much like the way they had come in it was a slope of dirt most likely from an ancient stairwell that was covered. It did not seem from this distance to be an opening though. Perhaps the creatures just covered it so well that it looks to be solid dirt Thayne hoped.
As they came to it and stopped, Thayne looked back to see that the shadowy figures had halted as well. Looking back up Thayne started walking up the slope and using his nose he gently prodded for a weak spot. Looking back at Chael with urgency in his voice "I think we are both going to have to look for some sort of weak spot in the layer, and push our way out and hope that it isn't too much weight and crush us as it comes down." He went back to looking with an irrational fear of being crushed by the earth above him.

"Heh, perhaps. She is at times fiesty like that.." Chael chuckled, fondly thinking back to his mate who was back at their nest like spot since they learned of her pregnancy. Probably sleeping, if he could take a guess. However, snapping back to the situation at hand, he looked up to see Thayne on the dirt pile which seemed to be covering their only way out.
Sighing slightly, Chael had experience in this area...yet instead of dirt, he had faced snow. Not as dangerous as being crushed with a mass ammount of soil....yet the concept was roughly the same, right? Making his way up onto the mound gingerly, he too began the same process as Thayne to locate a weak point in the structure. Already this idea was giving him the creeps at the mere thought of it collapsing.
Occasionally taking a glance back, he noticed the creatures were on the move once again before ugently whispering to Thayne. "Not to panic you...but we're running out of time." He spoke bleakly, taking a step forewards before sinking slightly with a gasp. Lifting his paw out, he noticed the small airpocket as it smelt fresh like the scent of outside. "Thayne, quick....you understand this more than I do. Get your way through, I'll go after. Then if it does collapse, I can pull you back out."

Thayne also looked behind and felt the blood leave his face. He nodded grimmly and found the spot Chael had sank into. He didn't have enough time to correctly open the space so he didn't even bother to think about it...his fear of the unknown creatures over ruled his fear of being crushed to death. He put his paw into the hole. Laying down to get better leverage he used his arm in gentle circles to remove the dirt around the hole to enlarge it. After a minute he put his other paw through akwardly but instead of working around the hole he started dig at the dirt below since the top was not stable to continue. They just needed it wide and tall enough to get through.
Sweat started to run into Thayne's gray eyes "Chael? I just need one more minute and we can get through safely...do we have that time?" He continued to dig as he started to shake not knowing what was behind him.

His breathing now deep as his heartbeat escaladed to a rapid beat, Chael's eyes continually shifted from Thayne whom began to dissapear more and more into the hole back to the advancing creatures. It was torture, watching their illuminated eyes bore onto the pair as their agonizingly slow and eerie pace brought them close and closer. He was already beginning to smell death on these creatures.
Thinking for a moment, it was true they probably had just under a minute untill they would reach the mound of dirt. Their options were running out...yet Chael knew one which could work. "I'll get you a minute! Just keep digging fast, Thayne!" He yelled, bounding down to the bottom of the pile as he snarled, his fur on his neck sticking up as he took on an opposing stance. This worked for a moment, causing the creatures to pause and debate continuing. Yet as they turned to advance once again, chael took a step foreward and let out a bark type noise....yet this had little effect as with a few second stop...they began to move again. Backing up the slope towards the hole, Chael only hoped Thayne would be finished by the time he got there...or else they were going to run out of time.

Grunting in response, Thayne was rueing the lack of natural physical strength that most other male Malu seemed to posess. Thats it I am going for a run every day from now on
So engrossed in his task, Thayne didn't even notice Chael bound down to give him more time, until he heard the bark. Working furiously to move more dirt, his left fore limb gave out as the muscle pulled. Yelping he glanced down but hadn't the time to do anything. Using his good arm he pushed the final bit of dirt and started to go through. Calling out to Chael "Its done but its a tight squeeze!" He wriggled through much as a little Malu pup might have through the small hole he had created.
He stood up on the forest floor forgetting his injured limb and he yelped again as he put full weight no it. Ignoring the pain he waited anxiously for his blue friend to surface.

Backing further up the mound of hill as the dark creatures approached, Chael squinted against the darkness as he thought he saw something else begin to make its way quickly down the hall towards them. The other creatures seemed to be frightened at this larger approaching beast, scurring off. With wide eyes, Chael heard Thayne's voice give him the heads up on the tunnel...just in time!! Taking no chances to find out what was heading their way, as he dove into the narrow tunnel and began to squirm out.
Pushing his back legs to try and get through, he could see Thayne at the end of the tunnel, as he felt the unstable earth above him shift slightly. Poking head head out, he took a breath of fresh air, smiling at his long time friend. "Well...looks like we won that rou-AH" He yelped, feeling the sharp pain of teeth on his back paw before he was pulled back into the hole. Dragged right out, and a meter away from the hole, he was met with a pair of blue orbs...different from the ones of the other creatures. Squinting lightly....his eyes widened....face to face with a dark pastel blue and white speckled malu....an old one at that.

Holding his breath, he let it out in a gush when Chael's light blue head popped through the hole. "Oh thank the gods and godde-" Thayne broke off in a gasp as Chael disappeared back into the hole. "CHAEL!!"
Prancing around the hole in, Thayne laid down and started to squeeze through the tunnel to come out on the other side unable to see anything, since his gray eyes had grown accustomed to the sunlight. Scrambling in blindness and calling out blindly he bumped into something large and furry he backed up in a hurry and sat down panting and afraid.
After a moment of just breathing his eye sight pierced through the dark and he scanned the tunnel. In the murkiness Thayne saw Chael and another figure...an older Malu. Thayne, out of habit, started analyzing the other Malu. The older Malu was blue and white not unlike Chael or even himself in many features though he was more like Thayne in his tones of blue. Realizing he had bumped into the Malu Thayne quickly went over and "Sir ah IamsosorrywewerebeingchasedandwhenChaelwaspulledbackin *gasping* IrushedintohelpbutIcouldn'tseeandIamsorryIranintoyou." Gasping for breath Thayne sat down and awaited a scolding from both Chael and the other Malu.

Unable to take his eyes away from the male, even after hearing Thayne's frightened yell....he just couldn't believe his eyes. Things were starting to peice together seeing this male. His mother's pelt was light blue and cream, one colour explaining his own fur - yet the other was missing. Now, shrouded in the dark he was still able to see the white link....as well as the striking resemblance to Thayne's own colouring.
Like Chael, the mascu had his own set of demonic wings as well as a goatee....which struck memories of why Chael had wondered where he acquired his wings...his mother only having rather beautiful locks of hair. About to speak up, he was interrupted when something bumped into him rather roughly, turning to see Thayne was still adjusting to the darkness once again. "Heh...careful now." He mused with a grin, untill the older Malu spoke.
"Do not worry, Thayne. Accidents happen. Likewise...I am sorry Chael for pulling you back down.....I....could not let such an inlightening opportunity pass me by due to my lateness." His head dipped for a moment, before looking to both boys with a light grin.

Thayne looked up rather sharply when the older Malu used his name. He nodded slowly at the excuse the older Malu made for him. Standing up Thayne made his way over to stand in front of the older Malu and dipped his head in respect.
"Sir may I inquire on what you are late for? I would introduce myself but seeing as you already know my name we must somehow know each other."
Thayne backed up and sat down. He looked at Chael for some sort of reassurance for what he didn't know. Chael looked in deep thought as his head was slightly tilted as he regarded the new Malu.
