I've had a wart only once so far, and it was on my pinky finger. Ugh.
I've always known that was a nose-stud on Jiraiya's nose, being used to radical jewelry like that existing in Japan and in manga stories. Oh, and if you think that's bad, check out the studs on Gamabunta's tongue! That is one weirdo toad to go and do that. Maybe he thinks it's sexy or something.

They're not whiskers?!?!?!?!?!?!?! eek No. Whiskers do not get inflamed. When Naruto "goes Kyuubi" the "whiskers" change size, shape, and color. This does not make sense if they were whiskers. They also return to normal after the incident.
