Nathaniel's bright wonder-stricken face was an odd one indeed. This time it was fake, and the smile was wavering. He could not deny that he was tired and he could no longer deny that the birds didn't bother him. However, what he could deny was that these professors were entertaining, for surely they were not. The British boy quickly felt that if the teacher couldn't even restrain themselves from hitting each other, playfully or not, then they should be learning during class and not teaching it.
Not that his opinions ever mattered, hence why the quiet and sensitive boy always kept them to himself. With a laugh to his voice he said rather smartly, "Oh I honestly don't mind, though if I could I'd love to examine your birds Professor Araquenosse. Most amazing creatures if they can do that, and they talk too?" He seemed to be honestly interested, and perhaps he really was! It was already well-known his thirst for knowledge was vast and he was dehydrated from the lack of it.

Tycho managed to get fairly close to where the supposed elf was, close enough to confirm that he did in fact have pointed ears, and that was a crow sitting on his arm.
His observations were cut short by a shrill voice, nearly in his ear. He clapped his hands over his ears, and turned to look for the source, but instead found himself being pulled by his collar up against a very energetic woman. He immediately tried to free himself, by wrestling with her hand, but she seemed impervious to his attempts.
"Oooooooo what is this?? A sneaky sneaky boy~ You know this is what I love the most. What's your name here, sneaky? I think I'll call you sneaky from now on, it sounds so cute!!"
Tycho couldn't help it, he gaped, violet eyes flashing in disbelief.
"Sneaky?!" he repeated. He finally managed to free himself from her grip, and took a few steps back, only to have someone else grab his sleeve, say a few words to Javelin, and drag him back through the crowd, away from the temporarily forgotten elf.
"I see you've met Professor Lovinghal, what's your nickname?" the man asked.
Tycho was actually grateful for the rescue, but threw off the man's grip on his sleeve, and brushed himself off. He looked around, checking to make sure no one else made any attempts to drag him around via his clothing.
"My nickname? How is Sneaky a nickname? My name's Tycho, and, uh, thanks for getting me away from her." Tycho replied, looking the man up and down. "Who are you? Are you a teacher? Was that... lady a teacher?"

((I'm pretty sure Tycho wanted to be part of Magical Research right?)) "I see you've met Professor Lovinghal, what's your nickname?" Ardanay asked.
Ardanay, surprised that a student would rudely shake him off, was speechless for a second. 'Who does this kid think he is', he thought to himself. Ardanay pulled up his jacket, fixed his collar, and glared at the boy.
"I am Professor Ardanay Veilwood, not Professor V, not Ardy, not Proffy Ar. You will refer to me as Professor Ardanay or Professor Veilwood, you got that?"
"Anyway, what's your interest? Field of Science and Technology or Magic User or Magical Research?"

Tycho glared right back, undaunted by the sudden shift in attitude. This guy apparently expected people to worship every good deed he did.
"Yeah, I get it. I take it you don't like nicknames, either, Professor Ardanay?" he replied. "You also probably don't like being dragged around by your clothing."
The last bit was said with a wry twist, a not-so-subtle dig at the Professor's attitude. He then thought about the Professor's question. Magic or Science? User or Research? Well, Tycho's immediately knew the answer but refrained from blurting it out. It was a reflex, really, and his outer body reflected the sudden guard. Shoulders hunched, arms crossed, and a sudden interest in a spot somewhere off to the left of the Professor. Well, should he tell him? The guy was a Professor, but Tycho's love of magic had been a closely guarded secret of his for a long time.
Figuring the guy would probably be more perturbed by his silence, Tycho met his eyes. "I want to meet other races." he said. "So I guess that would be magic research." He said it with an odd defiance, as if daring the Professor to laugh at him.

"Yes, in fact nicknames annoy the crap out of me, as do disrespectful students..."
Ardanay wasn't afraid to use this kind of language infront of this particular student. He was a feisty one to say the least, yet this student, Tycho was his name, intrigued him. His total disregard for authority combined with his natural thought process to keep his guard up made him an interesting one. Magic research would be a perfect fit.
"Well, that's good that you have some sort of reason to be doing Magical Research because you're not going to like what I have to say..."
He paused at that moment, knowing that the suspense of the moment would kill the young boy.
'Let him suffer' Ardanay thought.

Tycho grinned inwardly at the Professor's own not-so-subtle dig. On the outside, he gave no sign whatsoever of having heard the remark.
Well, that's good that you have some sort of reason to be doing Magical Research because you're not going to like what I have to say..." Professor Ardanay began.
After a few moments, Tycho realized that the Professor was intentionally withholding information, and smirked.
"Then don't tell me." he said airily, and turned to leave. Two could play at that game!

'Wow, the boy actually had the nerve to leave! That's something you have to admire...'
"Fine then, leave. Enjoy Professor Javelin as your teacher!"
'That should throw him off for a bit' Ardanay chuckled and left the opposite of Tycho's direction.

Professor Javelin? Who... Damn. Tycho, while he continued walking, winced nevertheless when he put two and two together. He was going to have to learn from that lady!? The one who nick-named him Sneaky!?
Tycho shuddered, violet eyes scrunching shut for a moment. It was long enough for him to bump into someone.
An inelegant "ack!" escaped his mouth, and then he found himself sitting on the ground. He looked around, curious but unapologetic, to see who he'd run into.

Dante nodded. "You should be hearing a few CHOICE phrases courtesy of a certain Professor," Dante said, face perfectly neutral but eyes glinting dangerously.
The image was destroyed as Tycho ran face-forward into him, though he managed to keep his balance and shift his leg to the side as he almost fell over.
"Are you all right?"

This produced a light laugh from the young boy and his eyes glimmered in a manner of pure amusement. He was loathe to end the conversation and even more disinclined to give up sight on the bird. If they were such amazing creatures he would certainly want to know why. There was just something about knowing how things worked that made him happy. It was a habit if not anything else. Silence echoed in his ears as his laugh fell off, it was if there was to be a big explosion shortly.
And there it was! Lo and behold the rude boy from the ship had banged right into the Professor. A frown crossed his lips and instinctively he held out a hand as if to help or steady the elf, however he was still a bit too far away. Another little quirk up his sleeve: never ever get too close to someone, literally or mentally. Betrayal was at the heart of every relationship, somehow. He had found that most of his life he'd been given out. He had trusted Charlie to be with him forever. Charlie had died. He had trusted his parent's and Nana to keep their promise. They didn't. He had believed he could live a happy life with his Aunt and Uncle... they shipped him away. It was a wonder he could even smile, and smile true too.
What had been the boy's name? Ty...Tyler? Tico? Teyche? Tyc.. Tycho! That's it. Folding his arms back delicately he eyed the boy. A scavenger, a thief. Everything about him set his well-groomed sense aflare. There was nothing to be said, but he had to be courteous despite the more obvious rudeness in the other boy. "He looks alright Professor, but what about you?" His eyes glanced back to the elf, whom he was more concerned over. Teachers care about their students, if only that they'd get in trouble otherwise. The boy who'd fallen... he looked like he didn't care a wit about anyone else except how much they interupted his life. It wasn't that he was being snotty or stuck-up, it was simply that he dislieked people who couldn't even apologize.

Dante blinked.
"I am fine, Nathaniel. I would, however, from our conversation, think that you would also be concered over the welfare of your fellow student." And he turned back to Tycho.
"You are the other new recruit, correct?"

"Ah, don't worry, Nathaniel. It would take a lot more then just a teen running into him to hurt professor Araquenosse." Gregs smile had been toned down a little, but he still seemed happy to be talking to everyone. He looked over at the other boy after he gave that comment and then glanced at the other professor.
"Ah, so another one falls into our trap. Good." He said rolling his eyes. "Anyway, do you need some help?" He asked, extending his hand to Tycho.

If nothing else, Nathaniel was feverently ashamed of himself and his rash behavior. Citizenship and responsibility was to be shown in front of teachers. He thought of himself as presentable and kind and now to be blatently told otherwise in so subtle a manner, he was at a loss for words and the blush of embaressment that crept across his face was highly noticible.
However, he wouldn't continue in a huff about it. Instead, silently he mouthed apologizes for his ungainly crime and went on with his life and thoughts. Eyes watched Tycho unhappily, for because of that ruffian his conversation was distorted and lost just like his points with the teachers. It was a tragedy he would soon remedy and he went forward to Tycho, smiling politely, "I didn't mean to not seem concerned, it's just I know him and I'm sure he's alright. He seemed pretty independent on the ship." It wasn't an exscuse, it was a topic of conversation. "Hello again."

Elf... He'd crashed into an elf. Tycho could honestly only stare up at the culmination of all his scarce childhood dreams, eyes flickering from the pointed ears, to the slender, graceful figure, the complete lack of facial hair.
He wasn't even really aware of the other teacher stepping forward to help him up, he simply took the hand that was offered and rose ungainly, feeling decidedly clumsy.
"Uh, T-thank you. I - uh..." he managed to stammer out, eyes flicking momentarily to Gregs, memorizing his features, and then lasering straight back to the elf's, Araquenoss. He was staring. Something about staring... what had Atticus said about it? Oh. It was rude. That's what he said. With a sudden wrench, Tycho forced himself to look elsewhere, and found himself quite close to Nathaniel, the clockwork boy.
"Hello again." Nathaniel said, wearing an expression that seemed to say that he was concerned about Tycho's fall. Oh yeah, he had fallen hadn't he? After he'd run into the elf. Wait! He hadn't hurt Araquenoss, had he!?
It was one of the very few occasions where Tycho actually felt remorse over something he'd done. To harm a human, well, it happened. But to harm a representative from another species, one he'd wanted to meet since he'd first read about them... Tycho felt something twist in his gut. Had he been more familiar with the feeling, he'd have been able to name it as guilt.
"Hello." he replied, finally. "Um, would you please excuse me for a second?" Not waiting for a reply, he turned back to the Araquenoss, summoned everything he could remember about Atticus's lessons in manners, and bowed to the elf.
"I'm very sorry about running into you, sir. I hope I haven't hurt you." he said, trying very hard to pour sincerity into his voice.

Dante nodded, first to Nathaniel with the indication he understood and then to Tycho, allowing the smallest of smiles to pass his lips for but a second. "I am fine. And you appear to be so as well. You are...Tycho, correct? We spent a long time debating about you. Professor Lovinghal was quite eager to get another applicant in the field," he said with a sort of quiet dignity and humor in his voice.
He chose to ignore the staring. Greg had done it when they had first met, Javelin had done it...heck, all the human teachers with the exception of Norman and Herei had treated Kyuu, Irame, and him with an air as though they were some kind of god--easily angered, delicate, awe-inspiring. Dante thought of himself as none of these.
"It is nice to meet you. I'm Professor Araquenosse, but you may call me Professor Dante if you so wish. Or heru. That is the Elven name for master."
