Gilles smiled up at Stala hesitantly. He didn't want to seem unfriendly, yet he didn't want to seem too friendly. He had been friendly enough. "Errm. Gilles, nice to meet you." Gilles said to Stala. Shauna knew him already, but nevertheless, he said, "How do you do?" In a very quiet, very humble voice. And then he blushed again. And then he blushed again when she started cuddling Mr. Hoppo. It was so awkward to see the rabbit in her arms, so close to her chest, that Gilles clicked his tongue twice to call the bunny over, rubbing his head with one hand. His horn hurt, a lot! It felt like someone had tried to pull it out of his head.
The rabbit reluctantly scrambled off of Shauna and towards his owner, his tail twitching and his nose wriggling. Mr. Hoppo stopped at Gilles' foot, looking up at the boy expectantly. Gilles picked up his bunny and placed him on his shoulder. The rabbit just gave a bunny-sigh and nuzzled the boy's ear.
Gilles got up and looked around, though he avoided Shauna's eyes. Instead, he kept his eyes firmly on his feet, or on Suzu's extra hands. Or on Stala's pigtails. "Chikara has orange pigtails, too." Gilles said without thinking, and then blushed again. "I mean, my Momma does. It's nice to meet you, Suzu." He added hastily, when he felt that the conversation was again heading into dangerous waters.

Ilistala, completely uneducated on the ghetto culture, stared blankly at Suzu when he greeted everyone. And the lingering fist thing was weird, too. Glancing to Shauna as if her cousin knew what was right and what was wrong (barely), Stala lightly punched Suzu's fist with one of her own. Having seen her mother do it a few times to other people could have meant one of two things: such a gesture was okay in this culture, or both Ioyla and Suzu were completely out of their minds.
Ilistala was praying for the former.
"Oh?" Stala said to Gilles, turning to him and smiling. Without even knowing it, she wrapped a finger around a lock of fly-away orange hair and tugged. "My momma has brown hair. It's short and weird." She shrugged and glanced again to Shauna. "I wanna get out of here. The smell is killing me. Let's all go get somethin to drink, like a milkshake!" Good suggestion! Stala could only hope that her new friends would approve.

Suzu was earning respect points by the minute! ...Until he tried to be ghetto. Shauna blinked and watched the kid for a moment, glancing at Stala in the corner of her eye to see how her cousin reacted; she lived in Aekea, after all, there must've been something to pick up in that city. When the girl punched Suzu's fist with her own Shauna smiled, glancing down at the bunny to coo to it some more--agh! The bunny was getting away! She resisted the urge to pout pitifully as she watched the rabbit go back to his owner, folding her hands neatly in front of her and smiling. "It's nice to meet you, Suzu!" Normally she'd introduce herself but Stala had already done that for her.
"Milkshakes?" Shauna's ears perked up immediately at that. Oh yes! Milkshakes took priority over healthy food any day of the week!

The ritual complete Suzu allowed its hand to fall once again to the side feeling a little foolish and awkward but he dared not vocalize it to the others. The four-armed individual smiled at the others and nodded to all that said they were glad to meet it before sincerely responding, "The pleasure is all mine," it nodded once while looking about at the mention of milkshakes. What the heck were those? It never had one, honestly.
It blushed lightly as Suzu murmured his question softly, "Excuse me, but what are milkshakes?" what if it was the only one that didn't know what those where? That would be mortifying indeed. It awaited the answer while trying to keep its composure and trying to, also, not worry about looking stupid or silly in front of the others. After all they had accepted it so far, right?

Gilles blushed for no apparent reason and looked at the ground. And then he looked at Mr. Hoppo and blushed some more. Shaking his head, Gilles turned back to the conversation. What was that? Milkshakes? "Err...Chikara told me to get some salmon and shrimp. I think if I didn't come home with them she might..." ...kill me.
...throw me out of the window.
...disembowl me and eat my liver.
"...be mad," Gilles said slowly, after considering his options. "And what Suzu said, what're milkshakes?" He was trying to suppress a mental image of a cow jumping up and down really fast.

A long, awkward silence followed once Gilles and and Suzu confessed their ignorance of the GREATEST DRINK IN ALL THE LAND. "What're milkshakes!" she echoed, flailing her arms in the air with exagerated astonishment. "Why...it's a...it...they..." Stala found herself tongue-tied, unable to describe in words just how awesome a milkshake was.
"Here," she said, taking one of Suzu's many hands in her own (she would leave Shauna to handle the responsibility of escorting Gilles out of the fishmarket, you see), "let's find a place that sells em and you'll see!" Far too impatient to wait for Shauna and Gilles to get ready, Stala zoomed out of the fishmarket, practically dragging Suzu along the way.
"Bet I'll beatcha, Shauna!" Them's fightin words!

Shauna's ears flicked a couple times when not just one but both boys asked what milkshakes were. They...they didn't know what milkshakes were? Shauna's eyes were wide as she stared down at the pair. Blasphemy! "...They're...milkshakes..." Normally she'd give a better answer but frankly she was just too shocked to answer properly.
She'd just have to explain to them later what a milkshake was. Gilles needed salmon and shrimp! The fox's smile slowly returned as she took Gilles' hand and began to lead him to where she'd seen the fish in question. She was expecting Stala and Suzu to follow her, so when she heard Stala's challenge she growled. Hmph! Beat her? She knew this place way better than her! "C'mon, Gilles. I'll give you some of the shrimp and salmon from my house after we have those milkshakes." She smiled again, turning around so her back was to Gilles and squatting enough for him to climb on her. "Get on my back. I know a shortcut!" Beat her, huh? Not happening!

Suzu tilted its head to one side and then another. The explanation was more confusing than the question was. Was it shaken milk? He could just go home and do that and likely get lectured. It pursed its lips a moment before shrugging as if to accept the explanation at face value. Apparently the only way it would find out is by actually 'seeing' it at the place where they were 'sold'. Those crazy people and their selling of shaken milk, people would sell anything these days! "Alright then," he replied easily.
Nothing in the world could possibly have prepared Suzu for what happened next. For suddenly he was being dragged out of the fish market with a soft hurk sound exiting its throat. Soon Suzu had to use its leg so he wouldn't slow Ilistala down for fear that she would respond unwell to the possibility of a 'loss' to her foxish friend. It was unpleasant to make new friends upset with you.
