No sooner than Suzu had raised her voice, Epitaph popped up next to the group and held out a fresh cone of ice cream to Covet. "To replace the one you lost..." He said quietly, giving a bit of a smile and nod to Suzu. Nikan had completely backed off from grabbing Covet, and didn't seem to be angry or upset at all. Those who had thought this might turn into a fight in the middle of the market, went back to looking at things and passing by.

Mecca looked at both new shu and raised an eyebrow. What was there to explain. The man was clearly an idiot. With a smirk He let go of the man with a glare and folded his arms watching as the male gave Covet a new icecream. "Please do." He said to Suzu.

Covet jumped at the voice behind her, then blinked as she was immediately released. Turning and rubbing her hand over her arm, she took in the new female shu's appearance. Her normal bright smile and cheerful demeanor when meeting new faces was temporarily put off by her simple words. If she could explain, then she had something to do with this. When yet another shu joined them, with a peace offering of another ice cream for her, she eyed him for a moment before slowly reaching out to take the treat, if only to not be rude.
"Thank you," she said a bit stiffly, taking a small step towards Mecca.

Nodding to Nikan, the man turned and started to leave, but not before bowing to Mecca and Covet. "Have a good day," he said in a soft voice. It was like switch had been turned off, now he was soft and polite when before he'd be hurtful and mean.
"I apologize for the measures that had to be taken but aside from attacking you myself, I would never have been able to see how you would react to an injustice commited against you. I am Suzu, the body guard of Epitaph," here she waved her hand to Epitaph, "I was instructed to find new recruits, thus meaning anyone strong enough, wise enough and willing to not let something wrong be done to them. I apologize again for how hard he grabbed you."
Looking to Covet, Suzu nodded her head, this had perhaps been the most she'd spoken in a while, even though her voice was kept almost monotone throughout the converstation. She hoped she'd explained it well enough, she wasn't good with the politics or the explaining, she was good at the testing and training.

"Suzu is top notch. She has her own method about things..." Epitaph grinned at her. "You make it sound like they wouldn't have any freedom, though. Those in my.. " Epitaph looked thoughtful for a moment for the correct choice of words.. "..faction are free to come and go as they please. Being in this city and a few others, though -- provides you with some extra protection, money, and beautiful things, plenty of weapons... shelter when needed, food always. The only requirements are that you have a backbone, defend this city if it ever comes upon attack, and I might have one or two requests of you to do."
"You're free to refuse, of course. If you don't want to, or don't think you are fit for the job."
Epitaph turned to Suzu, "Oh. Here you go." He dropped the bag onto her wrist. He wasn't even going to wrap it. Typical guy.

Mecca blinked and looked from Epitaph to Suzu. He was a bit confused and unsure as to why they would want him and Covet for such an important job. "The catch?" Mecca asked with a slight hint of suspicion. "Why us, out of all the Shu in the market. Surely there are better suited lackeys." He smirked a little and looked to Covet to see what she made of the situation.

Covet listened to Suzu's explanation and arched a brow in mild surprise as the other male was introduced as Epitaph. Having grown up in Crescent City, she had heard the name often, but never met or seen the shu personally before. Listening with more attentiveness to Suzu's rather pleasant voice a small smile slipped across her lips at the apology. She returned Suzu's nod, then turned her bright eyes back to Epitaph as he began to supplement Suzu's explanation.
Their request confused her. They were being recruited to fight for and in league with Epitaph? She could understand Mecca being asked, but she didn't understand how she fit into this, unless her role had simply been to be a pawn in the provocation of Mecca. So possibly the offer was meant only for him.
Taking a deep breath, she watched for Mecca's reaction then looked back at the two shu that had joined them, smirking a little at his choice in words. "I have to agree with Mecca. Besides we don't even live here in Crescent City anymore. And I am -not- moving again," she said, her final words accompanied with a loaded look directed towards Mecca. "Don't you think you ought to have found that bit of information out first before having your bullies rudely grabbing random people to make a scene?" she asked, arching a brow at Suzu and Epitaph.

"If lackeys were what was needed any shu would have been acceptable. I was not instructed to look for such a shu," Suzu answered Mecca before turning to Covet, her face lacking most of the emotion that should have shown there. "I do not need to research anyone to see if they are worthy of this job. You two along showed potentional. He, in the magic that flows under his skin, and you for the deadly grace with which you walk." As she explained she waved a hand to each of the two when she mentioned them, finally she bowed her head. She was terrible at explaining these type of things.
"It matters not that you live in this city. I can teach the both of you to move between the cities like wind rushing through the trees, even the farest eastern border isn't too far for me. As long as you are willing to help when needed, and perform a few favors when Epitaph is needing you, you are perfect for these postions." Looking from the both of them to Epitaph, the assassin hoped she was explaining this well.

Epitaph was pretty good at reading a person, and he was idly watching the two of them as Suzu spoke before he decided to talk again. "You get to torture, kill, and blow s**t up --- with good reasons." He simply answered, staring at the slits of Mecca's eyes for a moment. "And Suzu can teach you to do almost anything... she could use a feminine touch, though." Epitaph looked at Covet and smiled.

Mecca smirked a little and looked down at the floor for a moment. Him, work for someone. It wasn't something that ranked too high on his list. However, it wasn't like Epitaph was one of the stupid do gooders that tended to roam the city. Working for him would have its perks and training, that would be a great advantage.
Mecca looked up and to Covet. "What do you think?" He asked her with as much meaning as his cold eyes could portray. Hopefully she would get what he was thinking. "I think this could work in our favour." He said turning back to look at Suzu and Epitaph. "I'm in if Covet here agrees." He said with another small smirk.

Covet listened to Suzu's answer and smiled a little more. As long as she didn't have to move, she was fine with anything they offered Mecca. Though her inclusion of her in the offer drew an arched brow. Returning Epitaph's smile, she allowed her green eyes to drift back to Suzu. The poor girl did look like she needed a bit of loosening up. Turning back to Mecca, she fluffed her wings a bit and settled them against her back as she folded her arms in front of her and watched his expressions closely. She wasn't entirely sure she wanted to have their peace disrupted after so much had happened already. But she could tell that Mecca wanted it, and she wasn't exactly one to turn down the promise of adventure. Taking a deep breath a cool smirk slipped over her lips and she looked back at Epitaph and Suzu.
"Then I suppose we're in," she smirked, then glanced down at her hand when she suddenly realized the forgotten ice cream was beginning to melt.

Looking at Epitaph with an almost annoyed face at the mention of needing femine help, she actually rolled her eyes. Nodding back to Mecca and Covet, she relaxed just a bit.
Finally, Suzu looked down at the bag that Epitaph had given her, looking in she spotted a bit of blue fabric and a hint of a smile crossed her face. She'd enjoyed wearing a kimono at the festival, though she hoped this one wouldn't make it hard for her to work.

Epitaph flicked out a card and handed it to Covet. "Pleased to meet you both. Suzu can show you to some dedicated places where you can get plenty of items. If you need anything else, there's how to find me. " He said, nodding to Suzu as he turned, nudging her a bit. "Hope it isn't too short." He snickered a bit and headed off.
