Munching on his apple, Aion drifted off in his memories to allow the sisters their own private time to converse. His one eye going distant, he remembered his own brother...sadly, they were never close like Tara and Elu was. The pair kinda made Aion jealous, to know someone so closely, to share those kind of laughs with. The black malu could not remember the last time he laughed truly, although he did remember him and his brother were happy once, as they would rough house to see who the stronger Malu. His brother always won, yet Aion didn't mind, he had more fun manipulating his brother into doing things...like try see if there was a rat in the hole or not.

However, that all changed when their parents decided to pit them against one another....Aion to be the strong one, and his brother to be the smart one. That was the last times he and his brother had ever been on good terms. It was amusing to remember how the two brothers used to sing together, although horribly offkey due to their lack of actually trying to sound good. The two would often make hunting songs...yet that was in the past. He had made sure that his brother wouldn't be singing at all anymore. Glancing over to Tara and Elu, Aion wasn't sure about a lot of things anymore. It seemed since he met her, that his life was thrown upside down and now questioned everything he knew. Yet one thing kept bugging him...as his gaze shifted to his paws. Did she really need someone like him? Or was her sister right in being worried about her sister around him?

Elu listened to her sister argue about not needing a mate with half an ear, paying enough attention to give a witty retort but her mind was mostly else where. She had begun to worry about how Aion felt about her and Tara. He used to have a siblings as well but his relationship with his brother was nothing like hers. She knew that he had not really killed his brother, it had been the sham that had formed from his childhood and his mind had been so twisted that could only guess what reasoning he had used, if any at all.

She looked at him sideways, throgh her peripheral vision, a faint question lingering in her mind, Would he hurt her...? She mentally shook her head, He wouldn't she assured herself, Aion isn't like that anymore, he's different She grinned inwardly, Besides, it wasn't like she could change things now. They were stuck together, through thick and thin. Something bound them together and though she didn't know what it was, she wasn't about to fight it. She knew in her heart that her goddess approved of this, for if she hadn't she would have shown a sign that it was not meant to be. She returned her attention to her sister, a lazy smile on her lips as she resumed their discussion.

"...And I told you before, the guy you're talking about doesn't exist." Replied Tara exasperatedly. They had this arguement often and they each knew the others retort to the fact. It was like a small play, both of them acting perfectly in sync. Wich was perfectly fine for Tara, she could split her attention between both now. kkAnd she directed her attention to how Aion and Elu were acting. SHe still wasn't sure about him. After all, who agrees to become life-mates in just a few days? It just wasn't logical. Even Tara knew that good relationships took time to build on, how was it possible for them to already be together? Surely their Gods had disagreed...? Tara sighed, Then again, Elu's goddess is the one of "Standing Tall no matter the Hardship" it would be just like her to put Elu in such a situation. She sighed, she had even warned Elu against choosing such a god, surely such a deity would put numerous hardships on her as tests.

Tara had never seen anything to show such a thing though and that was strange. Her own goddess enabled her to tell someone's personality and heart when they sang, it was why she was constantly doing so. She couldn't stop herself when the desire to sing took her. She stopped her thoughts, she was too busy digressing and not watching what she needed to do. She watched both of them carefully, looking for signs of weakness in a relationship.

She was an expert, she'd had plenty of relationships before; relationships that went all over the spectrum and as she looked at them she could see the nervousness of those newly mated, only doubled over the fact that they didn't really know each other deeply enough to feel otherwise. There was something there though, something that inexorably bound them together and simply wouldn't let them be apart. Tara couldn't tell what it was, it wasn't any emotion she had ever seen of felt before but it was very strong and in time Tara knew that whatever emotion the bound them now would keep them together, whether they wanted it too or not. It definitely wasn't Lust and she wouldn't call it "love" just yet, it looked much more like a "need" and it was quite clear that they weren't ever going to be apart again.

Tara sighed audibly, there was no helping it and she'd just have to deal with both of them. Even if Aion acted like a pompous jerk and was incredibly arrogant. He really did care for Elu and she respected that.

Shifting his head lightly to gaze at the two, everyone seemed to share a silent moment as if each were deep in their own thoughts. Closing his eyes slightly, he was curious to wether or not he should ask such a question. Yet his thoughts wouldn't leave him alone with not knowing the answer. Moving up onto his paws, he padded over and lay beside Elu with his good side facing the girls. Taking a moment of peace to simply embelish the warmth he felt from Elu at their close proximity, before making a small noise in his throat to draw attention to himself.

"Elu told me the just of it...yet what all happened with..." He paused, remembering the response Elu got for mentioning the name...so Aion decided to go a more safer route. Looking at Tara square in the eyes, he said quite calmly "...him." For once, Aion wasn't even trying to be rude...it tweaked his curiosity that a single malu could have fallen for one of the sisters, then the other, then managed to kill their brother. It almost sounded like it could have been himself...yet since Nikalee he hadn't loved another so deeply before.

At first Elu had been happy over the fact that Aion had lay beside her and she smiled warmly at him until he asked the question she had been dreading. She had hoped it wouldn't have come up for a while, if ever, but she understood that it was imkportant to tell him everything because to do otherwise wasn't the best course of action. She glanced at her sister, half-expected her to have gone into a rage, it wasn't unheard of, but the only look on Tara's face was one of pain and shock. She turned her head to the side, golden eyes clouding with unwanted memories. Elu leaned forward and nudged her sister, silently asking her for permission.
Tara turned and looked at her sister, desperation clear in her eyes, "I don't..."
Elu shook her head, "He has a right to know." she said simply before turning to look at her mate, "There is one thing that must be made clear, Perault didn't care for me, never did. He wanted Tara from the start and he may have seemed kind and thoughtful towards others but it was only to get his way." She looked over at Tara, "We didn't see it, neither of us but Tai did and we didn't believe him until it was far too late." She hung her head slightly, shamed.

Tara snorted, "In our defense, he wasn't the most reliable of siblings." She shook her head, lips twitching into the barest of smiles, "Always the joker, he was." But then she sighed, "Perault was a horrible creature. And I always wondered why he wouldn't sing when I was around." Her eyes glittered as the memories flowed, "Apparently he would around the other females." a grimace, "But never around me. I guess he knew all about me." She shook herself, "Urgh, thinking about that wretch makes me feel filthy."

Elu nodded agreement, "But we did show him the consequences of going against one of our Clan." She smirked, her own eyes glittering with undisguised pleasure. He deserved what they had done to him, he would never be accepted by a female again. She shook herself out of her reverie and nodded at Tara to continue.

Tara sighed, "Very well. He began by inserting himself into our daily lives, always there when we needed a hand, mostly helping Elu with things but he always seemed to be loking at me. He knew my own habits and also knew I wouldn't go after someone like him." She gave a lazy smiled, "I like to be courted, good sir, just as much as courting others myself, and he wasn't very appealing at that time. Too much brawn and not enough brain for the likes of me." She shrugged, "And yet he still pursued me, silently because he acted as if he was pursuing Elu."

Elu grimaced, "It's how he found out so much about you, he fascinated me for some reason-I have yet to figure out-and I told him whatever he wanted to know." She looked over at Aion, "And no, I'm not a gossip. But I couldn't refuse him for some reason." She shrugged, "It doesn't matter much now." grinning she asked, "Bored yet? Or fascinated by our tale?"

Cautiously eyeing the two siblings, it appeared it was a harsh subject to talk about. As Elu began, making it clear he wasn't after her from the start Aion made a huff as if indicating a 'good' before he adjusted his body to get comfortable. Making a mental note that Tai must have been their brother, before listening on. Like a manical mastermind, every timbit of information was stored somewhere in his memory, a two sided attribute which brought both fortune and misfortune from its use. Tilting his head up lightly, a frown crossed his brow as it always did, yet vanished when he was addressed afterwards.

"Bored...no. You should not feel shamed for Tai," Aion spoke, gazing to Elu, "its a hard thing to say, yet he could have dealt with Perault. Even the most weak of Malu can do so if in protection of someone they care about. He made his choice to keep him around for your sakes, so you shouldn't feel responsible. Sorrow at the loss and learning from mistakes is what he would want from you two." He began, shifting his paws so they lapped over top of the other before continuing. This time, his gaze shifted to Tara. "He didn't sing, I believe, because he wasn't himself. I know that every Malu can sing, it may not be trained, yet anyone can sing from their hearts...which cannot be used unless you're being yourself. I know from experience he was playing a masquerade, a twisted game indeed. Anyone can put on a mask, yet only a few can sing from their soul." Aion spoke as he looked down to his paws, it felt strange to say such words...yet they were not his own as he was told the same thing back in his own past.

Closing his eyes, Aion took a sigh as his winga folded against his back. "I wouldn't know, I don't enjoy those sorts of foolish past times." He retorted in response to Tara's courting comment. In all technicalities, Aion had never courted anyone, as Nikalee had come after him, as did Elu. In all frankness, he wouldn't even know how to attract anyone even if his life depended on it.

Elu smothered a grin at his silent comment after she told him that Perault had never been interested in her in the first place but sobered when he spoke about their brother, "He did fight Perault." She said slowly, eyes clouded,k "Oh, he did, but as I said before, Peraullt had more brawn then brains and he was strong enough to hurt Tai so badly." She shook her head, "He broke Tai's wings. His beautiful wings. Tai wasn't into many competitions like most males. But he loved flying and Perault broke his wings!" She bared her teeth at the memories, "The one thing Tai loved to do most, the one thing that made him especially beloved by our pack and he made it so Tai could never fly again." She hung her head, "He borke them because of me, if Tai hadn't shielded me with his wings he would have still be able to fly!" She choked and refused to let tears to fall. Aion was right and nothing could be changed in the past. But she could pretend...

Tara rased an eyebrow as Aion spoke about singing, kkshe had never even thought the male capable of singing. Let alone speaking of such things with the clear tone of one who knew what he was talking about, "Indeed." she replied genially, "But I solved that quite well." a knowing smirk graced her lips, "I did indeed." She looked at Aion, "For someone who seems awfully stand-offish about such subjects, you seem awfully knowledgable." She cocked her head, eyes sparkling with mischievious intent, "You should sing for us sometime, Aion. I'm sure Elu would enjoy it."

Elu looked sharply at her sister, it was a clever way to asses her mate, if he took the bait. She shrugged though, it didn't really matter to her. Taras comment about courting made her smother a laugh. Tara almost never courted someoone else. It was always another male going after her, not the other way around. THere had only been a few times when Tara had done the courting but those times had been rare and.....short-lived, no one had really given Tara a chase before, and she'd much rather be the predator in the relationship then the prey. It seemed to Elu that Tara needed someone to do both. Someone who would be both predator and prey to her. If she ever found someone like that it would be very amusing to watch the chase itself.

Aion fell silent, listening to Elu as he simply couldn't say a word at how pained her voice sounded. Keeping a straight face, his wing removed itself from about his own back and once more curled around hers....not really one to know how to deal with these kinds of emotions. Staring on at his paws, he decided not to bring the subject up again for Elu's sake.

"No one has inquired otherwise for me to show my knowledge." He retorted dully, not really looking to pick a fight with this one. However, his eyes widened slightly at her request for a song. Relaying his memory back, it hurt to think about singing with his brother, even after what he did to Aion...kin was still kin. Instead of giving the females a responce, he closed his eyes and concentrated on making his deep, smooth vocals produce something musical. Hopefully after all these years he could still do it.

"What ravages of spirit, conjured this temptuous rage.
Created you a monster, broken by these rules of love,
and fate has led you through it...you do what you have to do.
A glowing ember, burning hot, burning slow.
Deep within I'm shaken by this violence,
of existing only for you...
"

Elu closed her eyes as she heard Aion begin to sing. The song was eeriely close to how she thought Aion felt but she couldn't be sure. Either way, his voice wsn't bad the deepness making it sound quite good, but he was certainly not trained and that was completely understandable. Most males never got training in anything considered "feminine". She sighed softly and lay her head down. She liked his voice, it was quite soothing, though she doubted Aion would appreciate her telling him that.

Tara watched him silently as he sang, already seeing his aura and personality. He was terribly scarred by his past and his mind was twisted so much it was a miracle that he had a semblance of sanity about him and she was suddenly terribly nervous about him. But she could sense nothing about him feeling any ill intent toward Elu and with great reluctance, she remained where she was and didn't march right over to drag Elu away from this twisted soul. When Aion finished Tara managed a smile, "Your voice is quite pleasant." she complemented softly.

"Hmph. Now just don't ask me to sing again." Aion responded, huffling as he turned his head to look around. Already, the sky was getting dark as it set into night. Were they really here all day? Glancing back to Tara, he was well aware of how she felt about him, easily able to distinguish facial epressions no matter how much they tried to hide it from him. It was simple, Tara knew something was wrong with him, and she was spot on.

Glancing to the two sisters, he was curious if Elu could sing as well. Surely from being with her sister she had learned more than he could possibly fathom to do. Nudging her head lightly with his muzzle, he asked quietly, "What about you? Are you going to sing?"

Elu jerked her head the to the side, "I can't sing." she replied softly, eyes downcast, "I'm not good at all." She hoped that would be the end of it, she didn't want to show that she was no match for her sister in that area, especially in that area. But apparently Tara wasn't going to let it go either.

"Yes, Elu!" she cried, eyes sparkling merrily, "Let's hear you sing! You always used to harmonize with me!" She grinned at her sister, Elu could sing quite well within the lower range it was only when she had to go higher that she had trouble. But Elu didn't even think about that, she had always thought-had always been told-that she couldn't sing well, mostly to give those who were more musically inclined chance. Their pack had been mostly animal-based so whatever you were colored as was what defined your grouping and job. When they were younger, the two sisters had snuck away sometimes to sing and dance alone with each other. Tara had thought Elu had gotten over the those notions after they had left, but apparently those ideas had stuck in Elu and she wasn't about to sing, not even in front of people she knew and loved.

Elu stood up abruptly, she didn't want to talk anymore about this, it was too painful. Without a word she stalked off, wrapping the memories about her like an invisible cloak and disappearing into the Temple. Not in the irection of Aion's shrine but still going deep into the darkness of the temple.
