"Yeah... I havn't been swimming in a while either." He shrugged, loosening up tense muscles. Falling forward, he stretched his forelegs out infront of him and stretched long, his spine arching as only a feline's can. Yeah a swim would be good right now.
An idea occured to him, and he nearly smiled at it. She'd for sure feel better now. "Hey... wanna race? Last one in the water is a dung beetle!" He paused only a moment to make sure she'd follow, then he turned and took off in a burst of released tension, dusty puffing up each time one of his paws landed, the trail heading towards the watering hole in the distance.

Verdad shook out hetr paws, still feeling tense from resting on them for so long. "Swimming!" Her voice was cheerful and sweet again but almost artificially so. She wanted to feel as comfortable as possible.
"Race?" She watched as he darted away. Her paws moved before her mind could tell them and soon she was running after him, laughing as she did. Her tail bounced behind her. She knew that she would never catch him but it was the fun of trying that counts. "Wait up." Her eyes began to return to normal. They sparkled again, glinting in the sun.

The laught did wonders so bolster Matsai's ego, smoothing over the hurts inflicted by their accidental encounter. The burn of muscles working in concert cleared his mind, the wind through the thickening ruff of fur around his neck making he feel more free than he ever felt. It wasn't like he was supressed by his family or this land... but that didn't mean he didn't feel stifled once in a while. Something in him cried out that he was ment for more, bigger things than being some relative of the current queen, lazy and indulged with the soft life of the Pridelands. There was something out there waiting for him, something that would sweep him up and take him where he'd never been... and only when he ran full out like this did he taste even a little of whatever it was that was out there.
Green eyes wide with the excitement that fluttered in him, he ran for the watering hole, hitching his steps only a little so the cub that tailed him wouldn't be left too far behind. He might be lost in the thrill of the race, but he hadn't forgotten why he's suggested it. After that... he wasn't willing to over do it. He didn't want to lose, but he didn't want to win by too much either. "Come on, Ver! You'll have to do better than that!"

She adored running. The blissful feeling of wind against her face, making her eyes nearly burn was comforting. Her paws hit the ground with enthusiasm. The dust of her home settled on her soft fur as she tried to go faster to catch her much more fit companion. Something about the pridelands madeher giddy. Just the feeling of knowing that she would be kept safe and sound, even while running desperately in open spaces, by those who cared about her. She didn't want to leave unless circumstances called for it but she was only a cub and those reasons were lost to her. All she knew was that she would follow the blue cub where ever he went while he was there whether he wanted her to or not.
Like a parasite...
"I'll catch you!." she knew it was hopeless even with his sudden change in speed but just maybe...
Her paws thurummed against the ground like a whirring machine as she gained on him. Maybe all that energy would finally amount to something. Even her tail stopped flicking as she focused every last bit of her energy into catching him.

The white chest heaved as the paws slapped the ground. It felt wonderful to stretch like this, running a few hairs short of full out. Casting a green-eyed glance back at his competition, Matsai smirked inwardly and slowed a bit more to let Ver catch up to him.
A shimmer on the horizon told the cub the waterhole wasn't far, and part of him was glad. Mostly his body, really. Unused to running for such distances, it was protesting the hard use. But in his mind, Matsai never wanted to stop. After all... this was really quite fun.

Red paws were thick with dust as they pounded against the ground, head raised. Bright green eyes starred straight ahead at her friend. She'd never run this fast before nor or this long. Her muscles begged her to stop even as she forced herself to go faster. She wanted to catch him so badly no matter how much her muscles complained. The waterhole would be their reward for carrying her to him.
He slowed down. For the first time a smirk crawled over her features. Her tail curled like a screw as she propelled herself, extending her body much like a rabbit would. Before she knew it. She was literally nipping at the golden tuft.
"Caught you!"

"Hey!" Matsai stumbled in suprise as he felt Verdad nipping at his tail, his head whipping around to glare at her. Not watching where he was going, his white paws tangled in some grass and the blue cub was sent tumbling end over end in a small could of dust and muffled oof. Bouncing back up to his feet and shaking to rid his fur of dirt, the prince scowled, obviously embarrassed by his little tumble.
Realizing Verdad would have passed him, Matsai bounced to his feet and dashed after her, bursting at last though the grass to the banks of the watering hole. Mud squished under his paws as he came to a halt, panting hard. "Ver that wasn't fair, I fell!" He grumbled, padding his way to the water to soak his paws. He smoothed the scowl away, seeking his calmness again. What was it about being with this girl cub that always cracked his control? It was so hard to stay cold around her.

Verdad lauged as he tumbled. Not really at him but just in general. Her small body bounded off as she herself nearly tumbled over the bank. The whole of her body shivered as she entered the watrer. Those sore muscles that had carried her half way across the plains were actually aching in protest. Orange tail dragged across the still water aas she dipped her muzzle for a drink.
She only stopped to giggle at her running partner. Green eyes watched him wash his large white paws in the water. "You tripped. That doesn't count." Her giggle rose once again in her throat as she splashed through the water towards him though very careful not to touch he in any way.
I've never been all the way out here before..."

Her agreement suprised the blue cub, and for a moment all he could do was stare at her with a blank expression. Normally, other cubs argued with him over stuff like that... Blinking, he turned and bent to lap at the water, letting it soothe his dry throat.
"i've been here before." He said softly as he lifted his head, water drops sparkling on his chin. "Its a common place for my parents to bring my siblings and I. There is a lot of prey around here, so its good for hunting." His words were matter of fact, little more. He leaned away as his ears fell back, trying to evade the spray of water she sent his way. "Hey! Watch out, Ver!"

Her chest heaved as she tried to catch her breath. Even with her thirst quenched, her body still ached as she moved closer to him. A loud purr rose in her throat. "Thanks for showing me..." She blushed deeply, wanting more that anything to brush her head against his shoulder in affection but she resisted the urge. Instead, she dragged her paw along the muddy bank, watching as her small claws uprooted mud.
"Mama always brings food to us but we always go to the other waterhole." A smirk rose on her maw when he paw skated across the surface, sending a jet of water in his direction.

Matsai yelped as Ver swatted water at him, jumping back out of the way. "Hey! Quit that!" He yelled. Scowling, he slapped water back at her, his little tufted tail lashing behind him. How dare she get him wet! He'd sho her...
His big juve paws swept up the water and sent it at her, a growl in his throat. At least the water was cooling him down. And really... this was kinda fun. He put a smirk on his face as he jumped forward, wildly swatting the water at Ver.

Verdad, already nearly submerged in the water, felt no need to dodge the spray if she couldn't. Her laughter rose in excitement as she lunged at him in the water before darting back, causing a small wave of water to crash towards him. Green eyes were bright as se once again dragged her clws a long the water. A great stream of water shot at him as she splashed around him. She was alreayd soaked with water since her back barely rose above the water's surface but Matsai was much talling and much...dryer
Orange paws stuck in the mud as she tried to alk along the bottom. She twitsed out of the slimy mud and lifted her paw from the water. It was already clean as she flicked another stream of water at him.
"Not until you do!"

Matsai hissed as he backpeddled from the water towards the shore, soon just as soaked as Ver was and showing his displeasure in every line of his small body. "Fine, Ver, just knock it off!" He growled, turning tail in defeat and retreating from the water.
Once on solid land again, the blue cub tiptoed out of the reach of the spray and shook vigorously. Azure fur sticking up in all directions, and looking thuroughly disgruntled, Matsai flopped on the grass and set to cleaning his paws and the water from his forelegs. Green eyes flicked to the orange form in the water, and his voice floated out to Ver. "Come out of there, Ver. I'm done playing in the water." He grumped, his tail flicking.

Verdad looked at her reflection in the pool. She was quite a mess. At least it was water and not that icky mud fromthe bottom. She sloshed up the bank, trying not to drip anywhere close to him. Red paws were barely distinguishable from the thick brown dirt that layered the murky depths. They stuck to the ground as she shook out head to tail, orange fur glossy and clumped together.
Green eyes stole a glance at the blue male before she set to ridding her equally muddy tail. She didn't mind the water but dirt made her pelt dry and itchy especially when it was there for much too long. With a trumphant squeal, she finished off the remaining paw. Sometimes it was good to be small. It made cleaning much less time consuming.
"You wanna play something else then?..."

A corner of the blue cub's mouth twitched in amusement as he watched her clean herself of the mud, his irritation fading at her antics. She was such a cub sometimes... not like him at all. Turning his head away, he thought for a moment, licking his maw absently.
"Mmm... I don't know. I'm kinda tired after all that running around..." He flicked his eyes to the orange cub then away again, sweeping the sky though his attention wasn't on it.
