Tseng does slap Aeris in the game when Aeris calls for help from the helicopter. However... Aeris does mention being close to Tseng as she grew up. And in Reno and Rude's conversation Reno says, "Yeah but Tseng likes the Ancient..."
To me this is a very deep and complicated relationship which can have very many likely facits.

The artist that is drawing the doujinshi/comic for Sink To The Bottom With You draws many comics of Tseng and Aerith's complicated relationship. You should check them out sometimes!
I never really read them because I'm not fond of that relationship because if someone slapped me I wouldn't take it so lightly, especially if they were my friend.

But I like Sephiroth and Aerith and he STABBED her so I guess I'm just weird.

But don't get me wrong! I love Elena and Reno together as well! Oh the love never ends! He'd probably go all stupid and Elena'd grab him by the ponytail and drag him away from Rude or something. Or vice versa! Rude pulling Reno from Elena!

awwww! That's below the belt! Aww, *sigh* awesome. But, I always thought that Reno would be the leader, seeing his pervyness, and that Elena would show her somewhat shy and reluctant side. She would still retain her strong side, though, I dunno
Still, regardless of whether or not she would get with Tseng or Reno, the two would look grea together as brother and sister.

Ah, y'know what? I never inserted anything about Reno being drunk because I don't see him as a drunk person. Well, not anymore.
I think it was SIC that pointed it out, but fandom has mutated the character Reno. He's not pervy at all, right? He is only pictured as a drunkard because he was seen drinking ONCE in the game. With Rude too.
I mean, If I was legal, I'd be drinking with some friends every once in a while and stuff but I wouldn't be a drinker right? I might consume alcohol, but not everyday or anything like some people think.
Anyways, I'm getting off topic.
Tseng and Elena always rubbed me as a Big Brother thing too.

Tseng and Elena huh....
that always rubbed me as a student/teacher thing. She looks up to him and admires him like she would her favorite teacher and even gets a little crush on him.
Here's a interesting concept... you think the turks have a personal life beyond their job? Homes, families, etc? Think about it... we see Rufus, Tseng, Reno, Rude, and Elena and we see their job titles. Just their professional life... so is there a personal life?

If they joined the Turks, I think that their families destroyed all contact with them.
Being a Turk is a dirty job, I know I probably wouldn't want to know someone who had a job like that. Well, not publically at least.

If someone knew I knew a Turk, they'd probably beat me and torture me or something to let out the pain of a assasinated family member or something.

I've always seen the two having more of a brother/sister relationship more than anything else.
Maybe he doesn't completely trust her? >.> I know of no older brother who doesn't think his little sister WON'T go into his room with her best friend, and throw his underwear around his room when he's over at a friends house.
Oh. But she kisses him in the date scene! ... >.> Erm... yah. Though I do see them as more of a brother/sister type of pair, they aren't biologically related. Of course Yuffie would have to experiment with her feelings for him. She even says it's just because she felt like it. I kissed my brother like figure ( Yep. Have one.), and we decided that it wasn't the type of relationship we wanted. ^^
I just think it's really cute/ sweet.
