The man watches as the gate slowly comes up..inch by inch. It's still going to take a bit, so he's waiting, patiently. He can't just leap over the gate; it's a bother. The objects they're using to open the gate are essentially wooden siege engines made to open castle portcullises. It's taking time. He stands, and he waits, watching as the pawns work. His face is impassive, holding a flat expression. He listens to his surroundings..the yells of his 'soldiers', the sounds of people running..the sound of buildings burning that his men have set fire to; yes, it's a glorious day. He can't help but smile. No matter what they send it won't be enough, and besides, his unit was meant to keep them busy..

Nagi stood infront of the gate as it slowly began to open, his arms crossed. Waiting for the others to arrive, he sent out a hell butterfly to the Bureau of Research and Development for a certain someone to return to Seireitei. The slight wind in the area blew his captain's haori slightly. It bore the Gotei 13 symbol three(δΈ‰). His division was incharge of scouting and hollow response. Seeing as this was now a wartime situation, hollows were no longer in the picture. His division stood behind him infront of the gate with their zampakuto drawn, many of them were pulled from earth duties when Seireitei was brought into lockdown. Nagi had not been at the drafting back at the academy, it was more important that he was here making sure that every move of the enemy was observed. "Aichou and the others should hurry their asses if they don't want to miss the action," Nagi was a bit intimidated by the numbers on the other side. He was not afraid of them (referring to the wave of peasants on the other side), hell he could destroy them all if he wanted to, but the casualties on his division would be horrendous. The number of peasants clearly outnumbered Nagi's small division that was stationed here. Not only that, but it seems that beyond the gate were powers that matched or were beyond even that of Nagi's.

Kaosu huffed, dragging behind his captain as they raced towards the gate. He looked up, noticing that the gate was being raised. Since when were we raising gates? It took a moment for him to get it.
They're forcing the gates open? He thought to himself, noticing a small scraggle of people in front of the gate. He smiled, noticing a familiar, short statured man.
"Nagi-san! Good to see you!" He yelled, slowing down as they approached the gigantic defense measure. He wanted to make pleasant talk, but it didn't seem the time. No, it was too tense. Let's get this started, huh?

Aichou arrives at some point, with Hikari on her back..and she stands..watching as the gate rises..watching as the figure comes into view. The determined look she had changes to anxious..and then almost sad. She lowers her head down.and can't help but smile a little. So this is what it's come to..after all this time. She'd hoped, you know? But it just wasn't to be..
"I had a feeling this day would come someday..but nothing prepares you for it..nothing.."
She kind of looks her age for a moment..at least in the eyes..tired..when she stares at the partially open gateway.
"Oi, Nagi. Just back me up, alright. I have to do this. I'm going to fight him alone. Don't let these kids die. Alright?"
She seems unusually serious for a change..and she sets Hikari down. She knows the other captain will be along soon..but to her it's not about numbers.

There was no time for jokes now, Nagi for the few times in his life was serious about something. He nodded. "None of these kids will die as long as I'm alive, and I won't die that easily either Aichou," he replied turning his head to Kaosu smiling. A hell butterfly landed on his shoulders whispering a message. He smiled and let the butterfly fly away. His division was small but they were experienced. The students were ambitious, all that lingered in there hearts was the thrill of the battle, none of them actually knew the pain of losing their comrades in a war. None of them did. Nagi closed his eyes and listened to the constant movement of the west gate, soon they would engage with their enemies and both sides would take casualties. Thousand of shinigami, and peasants were about to die and because of what? A group of ryoka. The conflict at Inuzuri was the first major event of this war, and the cost of lives there was enormous. Now, gathered on each side of the west gate of Seireitei was a massacre waiting to happen...again.

"Pfft! That demon didn't even answer a simple question. Neh, Little Princess?" "Would you shut up Sumizome." Hikari almost shakes her head at the predictable conversation between Sumizome and the nekonin. It almost felt strange, not knowing the name for her zanpakutou. She felt she should. When she hears another voice, it's the ryuunin. "Child. It might be a good idea to ask again before falling back." "Pfft. Like that demon can hear her. The Little Princess is better off relying on only herself!" She can almost feel the cold glare Sumizome receives from that. She'd give one herself, if she were drawn within her inner sanctum. She silently tugs on Aichou's hiori, knowing she needs the question answered. "Ai-chan... We're going to have to fight our strongest, right? My friends are curious... Can they fight, too?" Hikari lives in her own little world, and she's asking if it's okay to ask her zanpakutou their names and release shikai. If she thought about how others see the world, she might rephrase.

Kaosu's grin faded, as he looked at their adversaries. They weren't bloodthirsty fools who wore a uniform. They weren't battle-hardened warriors in rebellion of the Soul Society.
They were...the Rukongai. All of them. He could even see his family there, angered faces everywhere. "N...no." Kaosu stuttered, looking at Nagi. "We can't fight them!" He stood next to his teacher and looked down, a fierce look glowing behind his eyes.
"We're supposed to protect them! Not slaughter them!" But, Kaosu knew the answer before anyone gave it. It was all their choice to fight. It was their choice to rebel. But...he wanted to protect them. All of them. His Rukongai family most of all.
"We...we don't have a choice, do we?"

((one would have to wonder what kind of family Kaosu's coming from...hehe...here I have an image of his adopted mother carrying a giant knife with a thirst for shinigami blood...))
Shunketsu had arrived in time to hear Kaosu's comments and he shared the feeling...He didn't want to kill anyone besides the intruders...but he knew that those raising the door chose to be there...they wrote their own stories...only fate will decide which stories go on, and which end here today...all he could do was try his best to disable them rather than kill them...
"neh...Kaosu-kun..." Shunketsu probably only knew his name from when Aichou announced her picks earlier...his memory was fuzzy with all the hype... "you say we have no choice, but here's one for you...Option A, you choose not to fight...that doesn't change the fact that all of them out there have already chosen to fight you...Option B, you fight and protect all those dear to you now...I don't know if you have any relations out there or not, but if you do, are you willing to die by their hands?"
Shunketsu then took his two half-sais from their locations on his sash...
"I don't know about you, but to me, the choice is crystal clear..."

((XD))
Kaosu sighed. "You're right." He unsheathed his scimitar blade, letting it fall to his side. "For meeting you for the first time, Shunketsu-kun, you sure put an impression on people."
Kaosu turn ninety degrees, his head turned to face the shinigami student he was talking to. "Let's just hope this isn't the last time we get to talk to each other, neh?"
He turned again, facing the gate, and frowned. He could tell his adoptive family had noticed him, and they didn't seem a bit worried. "Whenever you're ready, Aichou-taichou." He growled, gripping his zanpakutou with both hands.
He was right...but were they wrong? It didn't matter anymore. Nothing mattered anymore. They were going against everything that the Soul Society was, everything that Kaosu had grown to be fond of. That meant that something had to be done...whether or not Kaosu liked the outcome.

Aichou just watches..listening. She kneels down and lowers her head further..and reaches into her guitar, drawing the blade in the handle..but she shifts, and opens up the guitar itself, and pulls what looks like another sword from it. She hasn't done that before. Apparently the reason her guitar shifts into her gauntlet is because there was always another sword in there. Either that or that second sword used to change with the first one, out of sight.
"Hikari..go ahead. They can introduce themselves to the enemy..but be careful their presence doesn't exhaust you from the excitement they cause. Kaosu..I know how you feel. I know how you feel, probably better than anyone else here. That man outside.."
Aichou sighs softly, and looks as the gate rises further..
"That's my twin brother."
And so saying, she walks forward..the white Haori with the 11th symbol on it fluttering behind her.

Hikari looks at Aichou as she mentions who that man outside is. "Did she say...twin brother?" "Heh. It looks that way, Little Princess. That demon sure has an interesting history." "Shut Up! Ai-chan is..." She becomes speechless, even in her mind, before she realizes something. She has to fall back. Aichou wants to battle her brother, and she wants...needs to do it alone. With a quick push, she jumps back to fall beside Shunketsu and Kaosu, not to mention Nagi. "You hear that? Luna-chan. Artemis-chan. I think it's time we prepare." She smirks as she draws...separates her zanpakutou, katana and sheath. "Hentai-san... Ninniku-san... We have to fight."
With those words, Hikari looks at her zanpakutou waiting for their words. She waits as the gates continue to rise and the approaching battle draws ever nearer. "Child..." "We are..." She hears the ryuunin then the nekonin, but they both proclaim the last part. "...Munashi!" A wide grin spreads across her face. "Well then. Let's follow Ai-chan's advice and introduce you..." She pauses, waiting for the right opportunity to call out her zanpakutou.

The woman with the cropped pink hair seems to step into view beside Aichou, her usual shinigami uniform replaced with one more suited for someone who fights hand to hand. Over her fingers, she's tightening a pair of black gloves, securing what appears to be a pair of silver bracelets around her wrists. It seems as though this may be her zanpakuto, despite how strange it may appear.
"Aichou," one hand came to rest lightly on her fellow captain's shoulder, despite the difference in their height. Fluttering behind her, the haori proclaiming the number six. Seireitei security. Shooting a glance back over her shoulder at the students, she shook her head slightly.
"I'll stay out of the fight until you're ready for me to help you. Don't try to overdo it. Alright?" a slight smile, before she cracked her knuckles inside her gloves, her eyes taking on a flickering light. This woman fought with hands that could shatter bone. Hopefully, she'd get to crack a few skulls, she just hoped that none of them belonged to the residents of Rukongai.

It would seem that Raven had fallen a little further behind then he had thought, he had watched Aichu moving a little deeper into the distance until finally she stopped and he was able to catch up and stand beside Kaosu and Hikari and Shunketsu. He took a deep breath as he looked at them all individually and he smiled brightly. "Well guys....your families may be out there...all of our families might, just like Kaosu's." He said with a nod, trying to motivate them. "But from now on...those are not our familes, but our enemies. Our families are right here, right beside us. Together...we will be family to each other." He growled out as he took the edge of one of his scythe blades and cut his palm so only a little blood trickled out. "Will you accept that offer Kaosu? Fight side by side with me...as my brother and my friend. That family will dissolve to make way for this one." He said with a smile as he held the slightly bloodied hand out towards Kaosu. He was trying to bring the spirits up, hopefully there would be a few of them together, a new family born to triumph over the old families. He continued to hold out the hand, lookign from Kaosu to Shunketsu, and then to Hikari.

Rei had came up with a skid past Kaosu, Hikari, Nagi, Shunketsu, and Raven, slowly wrapping his hands and fingers around the handle harder for a better grip. The wind was stagnant but fueled, thanks to the peasants awaiting anxiously on the other side of the slowly inching open gate of white, it was almost ironic, these walls of white purity were to be stained with blood for any number of reasons so impure. The talk about family both forming and breaking had reached the boy's ears, gritting his teeth a fierce look dominated all else in his eyes, belying anger, and rage. "They want to whine about family and fight for something so stupid....let them...if they want a pathetic reason for fighting." Scowling as he muttered those hurtful words, now braced at the ready between Aichou and the pink haired captain, and the group with Nagi behind, he was in the middle, but off to the side.
Rei tenses as the gate suddenly bogged down a moment in all its wieght and jerked before continuing upwards. He jerks with the gate, breaking the black chain hindering the unsheathing of his weapon, slowly he slid it out, blade shining and almost glistening as though he had cleaned it specifically for this occasion. "It doesn't matter how many maggots they got....I'll destroy them all...with my hate, my rage, and all of my anger!" He yelled, quickly unsheathing his Zanapaktou the rest of the way out and jerked downwards, flinging water and oil on the stone ground.
"Your welcome, boy.....Now that I scratched your back, scratch mine by feeding my thirst...."
"Gladly......" He said to himself stopping just before his sheath met his sash. "No....I won't be needing this for awhile." Bringing the sheath back out and straightening his arm, Rei flips his sheath around and puts it in the back of his sash with the Zanapaktou entrance facing the ground, he obviously didn't plan on sheathing his sword for a good time. "This isn't for family.....This is for me....I don't have a family, nor will I ever need one..." He grimaced and stanced, callous and cold, ready to go on an all out run to meet the large mob head on and jump in, planning out how many different ways he was going to start off. Going straight for them and hitting the flank were his first two choices, but then he got an idea, the gate, he could use that to bound off of and come down on his opponents. "None of them will ever know what hit them....."

Masaru jogged to the gathering of shinigami before bending over at his waist, placing his hands on his thighs to keep himself up. He breathed heavily, trying to regain his normal breathing pattern. He'd been running as fast as he could to just keep up with the others, but he just couldn't keep up. As he straightened up, he observed as the gate was slowly being pried open, and all of the shinigami watching. At first, he wondered to himself why no one was trying to keep the gate closed, but then thought that it would only be a matter of time before the siege engines pushed the gates open anyway. He continued to watch with his arms crossed, still breathing from his mouth, but less erratically than before. He wondered just how long they had before the army outside stormed Seireitei. He wondered if anyone he knew was out there, thirsty for his blood after he left to become a shinigami, who most of them hated. He also wondered how fighting them would be.
When he sparred with the student Ethan in his zanjutsu class, he was very fearful, and imagined that it affected his fighting skills as well as his opponent's confidence. Even though this fight was to the death, he had to gather up enough courage and confidence to not appear afraid of any fight, enev if he had to fake it. Hopefully, some people might even be scared of his over-confidence and abandon their fight with him. He drew his sword from his scabbard with his right hand. He held it out in front of him, now recalling his zanpakuto soul, and it saying that he was weak. This was the only way for him to become stronger, and with that mentality, Masaru was ready to fight whatever came through that gate.
