O.o where did you read that? Unless you're thinking of the Turks under the Ottomans when they sacked Constantinople, but they didn't do that until the Crusades devastated Arab culture and weakened their hold on the region.

As for the Christians and Christian holy places, I don't think the Arabs and Muhammedans bothered with them too much, since lots of those holy places are shared.

That's part of why I said some people in a religious group automatically hate others; an enormous part of the problem in hatred between Jews and Muslims is the utter intolerance they have been taught since an early age. Please don't get wrong- I know very well not everybody is like that- but no matter what we do, it's not easy to get rid of things imprinted in a mind since birth. That's like trying to convince somebody who has been taught to say "please/thank you" since they could talk that it's a horrible, vile thing to do. sweatdrop

I agree with you Dark, in saying that things can change eventually and over time, but there's no way the entire world can be changed- there's no way the entire world would listen. But that's why we need to do all we can to effect as many people as possible; there will always be extremists, but that can't stop people from at least trying to get along. And while we have changed radically since a long time ago, with more freedoms and such, there are and will always be those who disagree.


I really don't mean to be rude when I say this, so please forgive me if it comes across as such- the ideas in Barney of love, friendship, whatever will never happen, because this is reality, and nothing is ever that simple. I don't mean to sound so cynical or pessimistic, but only in a fairy tale would it matter if a few Jews and Muslims got along. Sure, there are almost assuredly some that do, and they could be great friends. But that's not about to convince anybody to change their views, even though they may be a lot of people willing to get along. sweatdrop

The Moors who invaded Spain and then continued into France but were defeated in the Battle of Tours, all which happened before the first crusade. Also, the Byzantine Empire had been receiving attacks from the Turks all before they even took down the Byzantines, including the battle of manzikert that cost the empire all but its coastlines in asia minor (which also happened before the crusades)

And in 1009 (before the crusades started as well) the Muslims destroyed the Church of the Holy Sepulchre

There are ONLY 9 Nobel Prize winners that are Arab as compared to 173 Jewish Nobel Prize winners.
There are a mere 12 Million Jews in the entire world yet they have received 173 Nobel Prizes. The Muslims number 1.4 Billion (with a very big "B")... or 117 times the number of Jews! Based upon this 117:1 Muslim-to-Jewish ratio, one might expect the Muslims to have 22,260 Nobel Laureates. They have NINE! Why?? Maybe it's because our ishmaelite brothers are still stuck in the 4th century?
