I might get into it a bit more, but not for those reasons: I do feel that we should stop sin where we can while still respecting other religions, but there are major sins that we have to watch for that I would hate to see people fall into.

Yes, but I respect others religions no matter what, and it's not our job as Christians to force our religions on other, but rather to educate and let them make the decision to live a Christian life, not the police or government. I think we should let people make the decision. Also, we are a country of religious freedom and having a "Christian" government would be unconcstitutional, and making laws because of a politicians beleifs would be unconstitutioal so things like banning homosexual marriage can't apply without being unconstitutional because there is no good reason for banning homosexual marriage besides religion which like I stated would be unconstitutional.

this is what I hate, Christianity branching off into 'religions'. I hate religon, and I hate religous things. But being a Christian DOES NOT by ANY means make religious. I am in a relationship with Jesus Christ, nothing religious in that.

Last comment I'll make and then I'll make a new thread or we can talk about this through PM if you prefer: Christ said to listen to your government UNTIL IT DOES SOMETHING THAT IS AGAINST HIS WORD, but to give to 'Ceaser as is Ceaser's and His what is His'. So, we can't hijack the nation, but we can't let the nation fall to immorality either.

As in, rituals, practices, and overly complicated theologies when there is a simple answer? I agree. Are there reasons that we have theologans studying and writing books to the Church and clearifications and Creeds? Yes.

Tis not that I would challenge the veracity or value of your statements, but might you be able to supply a verse for these virtuous words that we can research? I don't doubt it exists, I'd just like to know where you found it.

Right... Let's see. Mark 12: 13-16

Later they [the Law-makers] sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians to Jesus to catch him in his words. They came to him and said, "Teacher, we know you are a man of integrity. You aren't swayed by men, because you pay no attention to who they are; but you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not? Should we pay or shouldn't we?"
But Jesus knew they're hypocrisy. "Why are you trying to trap me?" he asked. "Bring me a denarius and let me look at it." They brought the coin, and he asked them, "Whose portrait is this? And whose inscription?"
"Caesar's," they replied.
Then Jesus said to them, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's."

I don't like the fact that christianity has broken into so many different denominations since we are clearly to be one united church, but since we have broken off, I'm protestant and belong to a Baptist church, but that's only because my parents do.

Sorry. I didn't have a chance to say what this meant so I didn't clarify.
Give unto Caesar what is Caesar's, and God what is God's. This means that A) We have to take part in our government and we have to take initiative in things and B) we must still do what is God's will in all things we do. One of the things Christ disowned the Pharisees for is that they spoke they told people to do things and didn't do them, or preached things they didn't believe, or didn't go through with what they felt they had to do. They didn't follow God. And, most of the time, they were corrupt by the government, but didn't do what was in God's commandments durring that time. (This is a theme found throughout the Old and New testement).
Basically, you must do God's will in everything you do, including in your government, but you must do what the government orders you.

Actually it was talking only about taxes but does not implement any other meaning after that, and that's the only time the bible does talk about the government, but it never tells us to go into a free government (America) and take over it and force other religions to follow our laws which is what we've been doing ever sinse the words "Under God" were put in the pledge.

The Pharisees talk about Taxes. But Christ rebuked them many times like this. What has Caesar's name to it, you give to Caesar, but what is God's, what he commands and does and tells us to do, you give up to him. Voting, for instance: That is the Countries, for the President ('Caesar' in this case), but we are to live according to Christ (he didn't just tell us to do things for nothing, did he?) and follow what he said and his apostols said.
The Under God is the fact that the nation's founders did what God wanted in everything they did, including government, thus a note on how this country was founded.
We are not forcing others into our faith: we are keeping our brothers from falling. We don't overstep the boundries, and we come with love and respect, but we don't break what Christ told us to do.

Um...actualyy I'm not sure.I thought Christian was Christian.
It is, but there are types. Oops, I forgot to put Mormon on the list. Well let me explain. Christian used to be Catholic. Then England had a King who wanted to get a divorce and the Pope said no. So England created their own church, which is Anglican. So The Church of England and the Episcopalian church are Anglican. Then Martin Luther got mad at the Catholics and brok off making the Protestants. Now if I have that wrong then tell me, but I'm pretty sure that's what happened. So now we have different types of Christianity all believing in Jesus, but with differences in almost everything else. Confession, Babtism, the Pope, all that stuff.

well it's good you didn't put mormon on the list b/c they are not concidered christian they are concidered a cult....b/c they are....if you want to talk about why feel free to pm me
