"Well...one might try to make your coat appear to be a different color. Many spirits would see that you do not wish to immitate them then," Nuhusi murmured thoughtfully, swishing her tail casually to the side. A throbbing purr remained in her throat, not matter how serious the matter was she spoke of, "You could also do regular sacrafices and wards against them in hope of mercy. It would depend on what you wished to do, really. Though I expect it would take a great deal of effort to do so."

Alana sighed, maybe she was destined to have bad luck for the rest of her life?

"Maybe I oculd roll in mud every day, turn brown." She chuckled softly, "That would make me look great that would. I shall have to face their wrath, I have all my life so far." If that was what had been causing her problems.

Nuhusi shrugged good-naturedly, "Suit yourself." She could not make the other leopardess believe her. Nor could she make her do the things she suggested. It was her choice...and it wasn't like she hadn't warned her. None of the spirits' wrath could come off on her, so it didn't really matter so much.

Alana looked at the older leopardess for a second and smiled, "How do you avoid their wrath?" She had to didn't she? She can't be perfect. No one is. Alana knew that, even if that was all she knew.

"Me?" Nuhusi purred, sounding amused. This certainly was an interesting young leopardess. "Well, first I am of a black coat, which is a very humble shade. I was also raised by these beliefs, so I know all the ways to offer proper apollogies, sacrafices, ritutals, etc." Her tail curled slightly as she tailed, her gold eyes looking rather thoughtful.

"Your littermates, were they all black too? What about gray, its midway between black and white, is it favoured?" She had so many questions she wished to ask but yet it seemed odd that she did. The whole prospect of there being these spirits that floated around watching you and curings you seemed so unreal.

"Gray is not favored, but it isn't cursed either," Nuhusi said simply. It was a mix of the two hues, and therefore cancled out all specific meanings. Spirits didn't notice it in any particular way. She shook her head with a shrug and an odd smile, "Actually, most of my litter mates were white. They were all killed along with my mother, sadly. They're bad luck wasn't good for the family. The whole thing left my father to abandon me." She spoke with no regret and very little remorse. She had been so young it was hard to even remember clearly.

That was at least something. Alana was white but her back and alot of her body was more of a light gray so maybe she would think of herself gray.

"It seems what you say is true then." She couldn't see any other reason why all but one would die but then she was left, wasn't that bad luck? Alana was sure there was some reason why the bad luck came about but didn't ask about it.

Nuhusi smiled and shrugged, "My father didn't think so. He never believed me, nor my mother. He didn't follow our religion. So when they died he thought it was me, because he said black was bad luck." She rolled her eyes. What ignorance! Her father hadn't been the brightest man alive, that was certain. But there was little she could have done about it at the time, not that she really cared much anymore. It was in the past now.

Alana listened and nodded. "You have taught me much though I doubt I could live by what you say. Believing that colours are what givs you luck or not seems silly and maybe even stupid." She pondered a little.

"Then again.. I don't know." She stood up on her branch and stretched, yawning as she did so.

"Thank You for what you have taught me, though I must leave now to see if my fortune will become any better." She smiled at the black leopardess and jumped down from the tree looking up again to nod a farewell.

Nuhusi shook her head. No one understood. It wasn't simply color that mattered. It was what it represented. But it was pointless to argue with this younger one. Besides, she wasn't one to argue in the first place. So she settled down where she was, giving no move to follow to try to convince the other leopardess otherwise. "May the spirits guide your steps," she told her lightly. Even if she didn't believe, Nuhusi was going to offer what little protection she could with a few words. Alana would need it, after all.
