Out of the pitch black a thin shimmering form slipped. It was just before midnight the day before Halloween. The veil between the land of the living and the dead was beginning to thin, but just barely. It was risky to try and cross now but the shimmering form did not have much time. They would expect her to cross when it was thinner and they would be watching. She would have to take her chances. She summoned all her powers and stepped through the portal. As she crossed through the veil into the world of the living and terrible agonizing pain started to shoot through her body. She cried fighting the instict to sink to her knees and struggled against the pain, tightly cradling the small bundle in her arms against her chest. Once on the other side the pain lessened but not much. She didn't have much time. Looking around quickly, her eyes searching. A safe place, she needed a safe place. Her eyes rested on a small garden of sorts. 'It will have to do' she thought to herself. Hurriedly, she rushed over to the garden and kneeling down she started to dig out a hole in the dirt. Sudden intense pain racked through her body and she gasped for air. Laying the bundle down the small hole, she began to cover it up with vines, when her hands began to pass through the objects she touched. "Oh no" she cried. Her time was up and she was being pulled back through the veil. She fought valiantly against the force, refusing to go back there, no matter what the cost. But the battle was too much for her. Drained of energy, she collasped, falling over the bundle that she had just hidden. Her body once again in its ephereal form sunk through the objects she fell on. With her dying breathe she whispered "May the Guardians keep you safe." With that, the shimmering form disappated. The silence of the night was restored, but only for a short time. Before long, a small eerie wail started to rise, and was carried away on the wind.

It was the morning of All Hallows Eve. The sun had just started to gently caress the earth with it's ray, the morning mist had yet to melt away, and the dew still blanketed the ground. Silence hung heavy over the little garden. Then suddenly the peaceful silence was broken. Leaves cracked, vines creaked, and the earth began to groan, as a single pumpkin in the garden started to grow rapidly. A strange occurrence, indeed, had anyone happened to be around to witness it. As the pumpkin grew, its vines twisted about it, pulling it in one direction, then in another, shaping its new form. Crude at first, as it worked, the shape began to take definition - the shape of a woman. The coloring of a pumpkin decorated her skin, what had been the stem now hung over her head in a ring, the leaves from the vine that shaped her formed into wings behind her back, and the vines themselves remained twisted around her body, holding together the magic of her form. With a shudder, she drawn in her first breathe as her body came to life and her eyes opened. Whispering to no one in particular "Your sacrifice will not be in vain. The Guardians have granted your wish. She will be cared for and kept safe" she said with a glow in her eyes. And then the glow receded, and the pumpkin woman blinked, shaking her head to clear the cobwebs in her brain. "What?" she asked herself, having a feeling she just said something but no idea what it was. "This is certainly different" she thought looking over her new body, "I've never had legs before" and tried to take a step. The vine that was twisted about her leg tripped her and she fell to the ground with a thud. She pulled herself up into a sitting position laughing "I guess I need to work on that a bit." As she sat there, she began to look around her, taking in the surroundings. It was then that she noticed the odd clump of leaves right in front of her. "That's weird" she wondered and reached forward to touch the cluster. The leaves moved away at her touch, and there in the shallow hole was a small baby, swaddled in orange clothing. The pumpkin woman smiled warmly and bent down to pick the child up in her arms. "Hello Sylvestanya" she greeted the babe, her eyes glowing again. "Well that's weird too, how do I know your name?" she asked the little girl, not expecting an answer. Cradling her in her arms, she rocked the bundle back and forth, softly humming. The little girl coo'd in her sleep and shifted closer to the warm body that was holding her. Smiling down at her, the pumpkin women gently whispered "Everything will be alright now. You are safe with me here."

Today Sylvestanya and I met someone new! A teen demon named Alaera. Quote: She had been rocking the little girl back and forth for some time now. She wasn't sure how long, but when you're used to being a pumpkin, well you didn't really pay much attention to time. She was amazed at this world, a world she never even knew existed. Things were so very different now.
She looked back down at Sylvestanya and smiled. The little child was so angelic. Almost as if on cue, the babe started to wake up eyes big as she absorbed her surroundings. She looked up at Sally for a brief moment, almost as if judging her motherly qualities, and evidently deciding she would pass for now, started wailing at the top of her lungs.
"Oh dear" the woman murmured looking around not entirely sure what to do. "What's wrong sweetie? Are you hungry?" she asked looking about for food. "I don't suppose you would like some dirt. Or water. They always worked for me before. " She scratched her head and stuck a finger in the child's mouth, hoping she would suck on and stop crying. Sylvestanya looked at it for a moment before plopping it in her mouth and starting sucking happily. Alaera had been out scavenging for berries. She had found some very tasty ones, but unfortunantly had eaten all of the ones near her tree. So, stomache grumbling, she cursed herself and set off deeper into the woods than she had ever been before.
She had just stopped at a small stream to get a quick drink of water when she heard the cry. Completely forgetting about being hungry, her curiousity got the better of her once again. "Who could be so far out here" she asked herself and was determined to find the answer. Perhaps someone was hurt? So she followed the sound silently, slipping in around and behind the trees as she went. She was curious but not stupid, you never knew what was at the end of something and it was better to be careful.
Just as she thought she was almost upon the source of the noise it ended rather abruptly. Alaera blinked, wondering how to continue her search without anything to guide her. Turning in a circle, she surveryed the area around her, finally deciding that one path seemed to be the best one to take. Her stomach rumbled again and she thought to herself 'even if I don't find whoever or whatever that was, I might still find some of those yummy berries.'
She walked for a ways before coming upon a clearing with a small garden nestled against the forest. She scurried over hopeful that there was something there she could eat and began to pull up some carrots and nibble on them. Sitting down on the ground she started to look around the clearning thinking that it was a very peaceful place when she suddenly realized that there was another Pae sitting in the garden. She peered closer not sure if her eyes were playing tricks on her - this Pae looked just like a pumpkin!
Finally deciding it was a Pae and not some sort of illusion she remembered her manners "Erm...hello." She had finally gotten the little girl quiet again. She would have to find some food for her later. But for now, since the child was occupied she let her mind drift. She had had many seedlings in the past, in fact all the pumpkins in the garden had come from her seeds. Children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren - they were all hers. She had lived a great many lives, reborn every spring from the decaying remains of her death in the cold winter months. But never had she been required to take care of her children before, the earth always providing for them. And she was quite sure that this baby was not like any of her babies. How then would she be able to care for her? Her heart sank at the thought. She had been given a responsibilty.
Suddenly alerted to another presence in the garden, She held the child protectively to her chest and watched as the other started pulling vegetables out of the ground and eating them. After a few moments, the other's eyes finally focused on her and stared. She was just starting to feel ackward when the other Pae spoke.
"Hello!" she replied happily. "How are you today?" Alaera scooted closer to the pumpkin colored Pae, tilting her head and looking at her sideways for a few moments before answering. She seemed so happy, warm, welcoming. "Erm..alright I suppose." Her stomache choose that moment to rumble in protest and Alaera blushed, embarrased. "I guess I am a bit hungry. I was looking for food when I found you."
The other women laughed warmly and smiled at her. "Well dear this is a garden. Find something to eat. " She paused and added rather hesitantly "just not the pumkpins please." She wasn't quit sure how she felt about that...they were her children once. The cycle of life and death, growth and decay would continue on without her, she was certain of that, but she still felt a rather strange bond with the pumpkins she had spent lifetimes seeding. She looked down to the slumbering infant in her lap and smiled, saying to herself "I have a new child now that leaves my love and care." Looking back at the garden, she thought "I can not leave them defenseless though."
Alaera resumed nibbling on her carrot as she searched the garden for something more to eat. Small tomatoes hung heavy on their vines, threatening to fall to the ground below, and Alaera pucked one off and plopped it into her mouth, savoring the taste of its juices. Hearing her companions voice, she turned to look at her, wonderly what had been said, but the angel seemed lost in her thoughts. Perhaps I should get some for her as well, she mused, and started to pick as many of the red orbs as her small hands could hold and brought them back to where the other was seated.
Sinking to the ground next to her new friend, she resumed her carrot nibbling, while offering some of the tomatoes to the woman. "I'm Alaera by the way." She smiled at the teen and took one of the offered tomatoes, lightly rubbing her finger over its smooth surface. Food was going to be a new experience for her and she had no hesitation as she gingerly placed it in her mouth and bit down. As she did, small bursts of flavor erupted in her mouth. 'Oh my' she thought 'if everything tastes so wonderful, I shall definantly enjoy this eating thing.
Alaera? What a pretty name she thought before replying "My name is ......" she paused "well I really don't have a name yet I suppose. I just transformed you see." The carrot stopped halfway to Alaera's mouth as she stared in disbelief. No name? How could someone not have a name? And what did she mean by transformed? The blank look on her face must have suggested that no, she did not see for the older woman continued.
She smiled at the girl's confused look. "I was once a pumpkin dear. I have spent an enternity here in this little garden and these" she said gesturing to the other pumkpins, "are all my children. But I was brought to life just recently, and transformed into this" looking down at herself, "so that I may care for a new child, a very special one. With that she pulled back the orange swadling around the babies face, revealing her to her guest. Alaera gasped and leaned forward to get a better look at the child. She seemed to be shimmering as she peacefully slept and slightly transparent. Alaera had never seen anyone so so...well she couldn't find a word to described the small creature. She reached out to touch the infant, not sure if she was real. As Alaera reached out to touch the small bundle, she found herself staring into two huge light blue eyes as the little girl opened her eyes. Mesmerized by their intensity, she hand stilled as it reached out to her. The small child looked at her for a moment before reaching out with a chubby hand, grasping hold of one of Alaera's fingers and giggling.
Alaera grinned back at her. She had never been around so small a person before. The little child was so enchanting...she suddenly felt odd...like she never wanted to let this child out of her sight again. She leaned forward and moved to scoop the infant up into her arms, but suddenly the other Pae pulled her back up close against her chest. Alaera glared at her, unsure of why she was feeling so possessive of the little creature and her sudden desire to be the only one that ever cared for her. She shook her head and the odd sensations cleared, at least somewhat. Her eyes drifted back down the girl for a moment before she looked back up at the pumpkin Pae, the suprise on her face evident. She smiled when the little girl in her arms reached out and grabbed Alaera's finger. 'Seems like she has found a friend' she thought happily to herself, before an inner warning started going off in her head. Unknown to her, her eyes had started glowing slightly and she did not understand why, but she pulled Sylvestanya back up close against her chest. Alaera looked up at her the anger was clear to see but there was something else there as well, something she could not identify, something that scared her.
She was not scared for long though. Alaera shook her head and her eyes seemed to clear of whatever had been in them. Sally heaved a sigh of relief to herself, not certain what might have happened. Actually, Alaera didn't seem to even realize what had happened herself, as she was currently staring at her in surprise and wonder, and the questions were on the tip of her tongue, she was certain of that.
But she didn't know how to answer the questions. She knew Syvestanya was a very special little girl but wasn't quite sure exactly why. She knew that she was here to protect and guide the child, but she had no idea why she had been chosen. It all seemed so mysterious to her.
She looked over to Alaera about to tell her this and had but opened her mouth when her eyes suddenly clouded over and see could no longer see what was in front of her. At first she feared she had been struck blind as the whole world was dark, but a slight shimmer of light slipped from the darkness. It looked like a ghost or spirit to her, the way she could see the trees behind (or was it through?) the it. Whatever it was moved closer to her and she was able to make out that it was a woman of some type, holding a bundle in her arms. She gasped 'was that Sylvestanya?' She looked closer at the woman then, examining her. If that bundle was Syvestanya, then this woman must be her mother. She watched as the woman dug a hole next to a pumpkin (Was that her? Was her butt really that big?) and lay the bundle down into it before collasping. Images continued to swim before her eyes, but they no longer made any sense to her.
Finally her eyesight cleared again and she found herself staring to the face of a very concerned looking Alaera, who was holding Syvestanya as she screamed her unhappiness to the world. Alaera had been just about to ask the other Pae what had just happened, when something even weirder happened. All of a sudden, Sally's eyes had started glowing, just a little at first, then becoming an intense bright white light.
"Hello???" Alaera asked tentatively. The adult seemed to be in some sort of trance or something. She was about to reach forward and shake the other when the child in her lap started screaming at the top of her lungs. She had no idea what to do now and started to reach for the child hoping to calm her. She pulled back though when she remembered how the other had reached when she had tried to pick up the child earlier. The screams paused for a moment much to Alaera's relief only to start back up again as the child took a breath and continued her wailing. The sound was horrible and the continued cries was all that it took for Alaera to throw her caution to the wind. She reached down and picked the child up into her arms and pulled her close trying to comfort and calm her. Something was obviously happening that the child could feel but she had no idea what it was. Frightened she looked up at her companion hoping to discover some clue as to what to do or what was going on, and was relieved to see that her eyes were returning to normal. The pumpkin woman blinked as the world returned to normal and smiled at the concerned Alaera, hoping it would reassure her that everything was alright. She caught the fading wails of Sylvestanya and looked down to her lap only to discover it was empty. She almost panicked but relaxed when she realized the child was in Alaera's arms. 'She would be safe with the child now' Sally thought, now realizing the meaning of some of what she had been shown. The rest would remain in the dark for now she supposed. She leaned forward and brushed the tiny curl of hair from out of Sylvestanya's eyes before addressing the teen.
"This is Sylvestanya. She is a very special little girl as I'm sure you have already figured out. I believe her mother was a rather important figure, though in some sort of trouble, and brought the little girl her to grow up safely. However I do not believe that her mother, or the little girl is from this world. Where exactly I do not know. But we must be very careful around her I think, I know not what sort of latent powers she might have, but I think you may have experienced one of them earlier."
She continued "As for myself, I was brought to life to protect the child, and I think in a way ground her somehow. I'm not really sure." She shook her head trying to clear the cobwebs and hoping that everything would make sense. As soon as the woman's eyes returned to normal, Sylvestanya stopped crying. Alaera didn't understand why she was just happy that the noise had ceased.
"Oh" Alaera replied thoughtlessly, her mind too caught up in what she had just heard to form a more intelligent response. Some of what she had said made sense. A least she thought it did.
The little girl cooed at her and Alaera looked down at her and started making funny faces, twisting her face into the oddest looks. She remembered loving it when her mother did this for her when she was a child. Her mother. A tinge of guilt and loss went through her heart as she thought of her mother for the first time in ages. Perhaps she had been wrong in leaving. Seeing this small being made her realize her mother had only been doing what she thought was necessary to protect her. 'Someday,' Alaera thought, 'I will go back and thank her.'
Her mind switched back to the matter at hand. "Well," she started, "if you plan on staying on the island you are going to need someplace to stay and some food for Sylvestanya. There's the HQ's, you could get a room there and they would have food there too. Really good food too" her stomach rumbled at the memory of the last batch of food she had snuck out of the HQ's. "Of course you could always stay in my tree with me, it's not too far away, and there's a small river nearby that sometimes has fish in it."
She paused for a moment before adding "And well...you'll need a name too." "A name???" She stammered out. She hadn't thought of that. Pumpkins usually didn't get names, none of her other children had names. She supposed she would need one eventually. No time like the present.
"Well I don't know. How about you give me one???" She asked, eagerly looking at Alaera, wondering what this inquisitive teenager would come up with. "Me???" Alaera blinked at the odd request. A name was a serious thing she had always believed, with lots of important meanings and significance and stuff like that. She was a bit hesitant but the idea excited her immensly.
"Well, alright but let me think. Names are special you know. "
Alaera thought long and hard until she suddenly remembered a movie she had seen long ago with her mother. 'Boy mom is sure on my mind a lot today. Stupid conscience' she muttered to herself.
Turning to the other Pae she said "There is a character in a movie that I watched once that reminds me a lot of you. She was very caring person, in fact she was created out of fabric to care for her maker, kinda like you were. They sometimes called her the Pumpkin Queen because she fell in love with a skeleton man who had the title of the Pumpkin King. Her name was Sally. What do you think of that name?" "Sally" the angel woman repeated, feeling with way the name rolled off her tongue. Her eyes glittered as liquid happiness pooled in them and she blinked rapidly to hold back the tears. "Yes I think Sally will do just fine," she nodded and smiled at the teenager. "Thank you so much dear."
Still in Alaera's lap, Sylvestanya, looked up at the two hovering faces above her and starting giggling and clapping her hands, the smile on her face making two adorable little dimples in her chubby cheeks. Sally smiled down at the child too. The child seemed to be able to feel emotions in her environment and react to them. 'I wonder if she even realizes what she's doing' she mused. She thought for a minute more before she looked back at Alaera.
"You know, every little girl needs a big sister. Would you be interested in being Sylvestanya's?" Alaera felt her heart warm when she saw the tears in Sally's eyes. Had she really made the woman so happy just by giving her a name?
Hearing Sylvestanya giggle, she looked down to the bundle in her lap and smiled brightly. 'Such a sweetheart.'
When she heard Sally's proposal her eyes went big. A little sister? And her the big sister? She had never thought about it before. When she left her mother she thought she would be alone, but it seemed like she wasn't anymore. She had family now - a little sister!! Alaera grinned brightly and hugged Sylvestanya to her chest.
She looked up to Sally to tell her of course she would love to be her big sister, when the sight of the pumpkin woman made her think of something else...
"Sally" she began hesitantly "What would you be then? I mean is she was my sister and you are her mother..." She trailed off. She already had a mother, one she was just discovering that she had greatly misunderstood and wronged. She couldn't just replace her with another one, no matter how long it had been since she had seen the woman. Sally watched the emotion run across Alaera's face. The girl certainly wasn't very good at hiding them, at least not from her anyway. Uncertainty, hesitation, excitement, happiness, and then as the teen looked at her something else crossed her face. Betrayal, guilt. Sally wasn't quite she what had caused these feeling, at least not until she spoke. Aah, the girl didn't want another mother. Now that she thought about it, where was her mother now?? Oh well the girl would tell her in time if she choose to.
"Well I would be whatever you wanted me to be of course. Certainly not a mother, no, you already have one of those, but someone else to help care for you. You still have some growing to do you know." She smiled at the teen. "I know, how about I be your Aunt Sally?" Alaera grinned. Somehow this other woman knew exactly what was bothering her. Of course, she didn't know it was written all over her face. She bounced up and down with excitement, her power leaking out of her thin control and light spilling off from her skin. She looked down in dismay for a moment before shrugging - who cared she had a family now!! A family always accepted you no matter what! She wasn't afraid to let her power out now and so she enouraged it, lighting up the area as bright as she could (which wasn't much).
She climbed to her feet still holding the baby Sylvestanya with a grin and grabbed Sally's hand, intent on pulling her up and dragging her back to the treehouse. "Come on come on we should get going now before it gets too dark. I may glow but my eyesight is horrible in the dark, I don't want to get lost!! Let's go!!" she exclaimed full of youthful energy. Sally watched in amazement as Alaera started to glow. Just a little at first, then brighter. 'How beautiful she looks like that' she thought, in awe of the teenager's power. She looked between the two of them...'they both have powers...I wonder if I have one as well' but she shrugged and forgot about it.
She pulled against Alaera's hand, resisting her. "Alaera, Alaera slow down child. Why don't you come stay here with us. I know it sounds silly, but this is my family too" she said gesturing to the pumpkins in the garden. "it just feels wrong to abandon them and leave them so helpless. I just can't" she finished, her spirit a little down. She just couldn't leave them to fend for themselves, but what if Alaera couldn't understand that? Sylvestanya really needed someone to look up to and Sally had been around long enough to know it wasn't going to be her. Alaera stopped and looked back and forth between the pumpkins and Sally. She could kinda understand she supposed. It still seemed a little weird but Sally was family now. Where would she live though...she had grown rather attached to her tree...it wasn't fancy or anything but it was home. But she wanted to be with her new family. Alaera was torn.
"Well, I guess I can understand that. " She looked around. "But there is no shelter here. What will you live in?" A that moment she had an idea.
"I know!!" I will keep living in my tree, which isn't far from here, but will come visit you every day and bring you food and stuff, and I can't help build you a place to stay here. How does that sound??" Things seemed like the might actually work out now and she smiled, happy once again. Sally nodded. "That seems reasonable." She actually had her own idea for a house but didn't want to mention it, just in case it didn't work out. She had no idea if she could even do it anyways. Just a feeling a she had.
Sally walked over and pulled the drowsy Sylvestanya out of Alaera's arms. 'Amazing how much sleep these little things need' she thought with a grin as she rocked the child gently.
"So you'll come back tomorrow and visit us right?" she asked looking into the teen's eyes, wanting to be sure the girl was truthful when she responded. Alaera beamed "Of course I'm coming back! I'm a big sister now I have responsibilities. Will get some milk for Sylvestanya and some food for us...wait do you know how to cook? Well it doesn't matter, I'll bring us back some good food. And maybe I can find a book in the library to read to you, would you like that Syl?" she spoke a mile a minute in her excitement.
"So yeah I'll be back tomorrow! If you need me, my tree is just right over there" she pointed in a direction. "Or maybe it was over there...erm well maybe I better go start looking" she said and kissed the top of Sylvestanya's head before racing off. Sally watched the teen run off before looking down at Sylvestanya. "Well I certainly hope that your new big sister manages to find her way back to this tree she keeps speaking about. Come on you let's go get some sleep" She yawned and moved over to a bed of fallen leaves and settled in for the night. I love the name she gave me and am thrilled that Sylvestanya will have a big sister now(and so is Sylvestanya!). Plus, it seems beneficial that she knows the island well. She seems like such a sweet dear girl. I so hope she comes back to us.

November 8, 2006
It started raining sometime today. Not just light, gentle rain that makes plants stretch out their roots and absorb the fresh moisture, but the type of rain that just pelts down painfully. At first it didn't bother me but before long I was soaked through and my skin was starting to ache from the hard forceful landings of the water drops. It was almost like hail but not quite. Sylvestanya evidently agreed because it woke her from her nap and the infant promptly started screaming her unhappiness. I wasn't sure if pae children can get sick, but didn't want to risk the chance and hurriedly took her into the shelter of the trees nearby and their overhanging limbs. The sky took some time to clear and the time we were forced to wait it out gave me an opportunity to think.
Alaera had been right we couldn't just stay here in the patch unprotected. But I was still rather reluctant to leave the only place I had ever known, this was home. And all my friends were here. I couldn't just leave! I despaired for some time. Finally an idea occurred to me, one prompted by the curling mists that signaled the end of the rain. As I perched under the protective trees a swirl of mist happened to come up from the ground around a pumpkin and drifted upwards behind its stem, almost like smoke escaping from a chimney stack. How I knew what such a thing was, I wasn't sure, but somehow I knew a lot of things that I didn't think I should. The illusion gave me an idea, though I was forced to wait until the following morning to carry it out as it was already quite late, and I was fearful of leaving the trees in case of more rain.
When morning finally did dawn, Sylve had a small case of the sniffles, which further convinced me that I had to do something about our situation. Once I had built a small fire to keep the infant warm, I left her there as I went to talk with the pumpkins in my patch. I wasn't sure if they help me or not but it was worth a shot. After I explained, I lost many of my good friends, friends who thought I had abandoned them, and now asking this new sacrifice of them was too great. But many of the older ones, ones who had known me for generation after generation agreed. After all they said, we do not live forever, and we are already so old, why would we not?
It was an incredible thing to watch one that will live in my memory and heart forever. These pumpkins, at my request, came together and fused all their remaining life force into a single pumpkin, one who was quite dear to my heart, as the man most of my vines had interlaced with over the years. The great increase of life force caused his size to increase immensely, he grew almost as large as the trees nearby. His life energy was full but his essence was spread too thin and he was fading away. It hurt my heart so, as with the last of his energy he cast a spell over himself to preserve his shell for as long as it was needed. Pumpkins do have magic you know. And just as he was finishing the spell the magic around the pumpkin was suddenly sucked inside before shooting out over the sky.
I wasn't sure what to do now, this wasn't exactly what I expected to happen. But a faint outline of a door appeared in the side of the giant pumpkin along with two round windows on either side. A soft breeze danced around me guiding me towards it and a whisper in my ear said "Welcome home. " The door opened and inside was all hallowed out with a small fireplace right below the stem that opened up to the world beyond. I sat down and started crying, so overcome with grief and joy, not sure which emotion I should be feeling the strongest. Another soft touch of wind brushed against my cheek and I looked up in surprise, my tear streaked face searching for my unknown visitor. But there was no one, only the silence and the emptiness. At least until another whisper put me at ease "Do not despair Sally. We are all still here, looking over you. You are not alone."
My heart warmed inside. "Home" I thought. More like home within a home. I went outside to fetch Sylvestanya and bring her inside. It was sparse for now, but it would still protect from the wind and the rain and the cold. Perhaps Alaera will come by again soon and help us to gather some things for the house.

November 22, 2006
Sylvestanya seemed fussier than normal these past few hours and it made sense why when she grew into a toddler tonight. I can't image what It would feel like suddenly growing so much bigger all at once. Pumpkins usually grow quite slowly really. She has such a weird sleeping schedule too. She seems to be more awake and aware at night time, and becomes quite cranky at dawn, almost the moment the first beams of light start to color the sky. It's really cute strange and rather annoying as I have to stay up with her all night and then be exhausted in the day when I am able to garden.
Anyway, I had drifted off in one of the chairs Alaera had found for us, she's been quite helpful in furnishing the house. Sylvestanya was taking a nap as well on the little bed of hay we had fashioned up for her. All of a sudden I heard this terrible scream and jumped out of the chair with a start, looking around wildly for the cause. Sylve was nearby, having grown sometime while we were both asleep, discovered she could now crawl and sent out to explore things for her own. Evidently the first thing she had chosen to explore was the fire burning lowly in the fireplace, and so having crawled over to it, stuck her hand in the fire for it to promptly get burned and let out a terrible shriek of pain. I rushed over and grabbed the child up and ran out of the house to a pail of cold water and thrust her hand inside.
Silly girl. She's doing fine now but it was a lucky thing the fire was so low. Otherwise she would have had a horrible burn that probably would have left scarring behind. I guess now that she's a toddler I shall have to watch her more carefully.

December 25, 2006Today was something called Christmas. Alaera told us all about it and if you have been good throughout the year, she said, a man called Santa Claus brings you presents! We'll we must have been really good, because boy did we get presents. Alaera got plushies, a purple one and a red one and Sylvestanya, boy did she rake in! She got a whole bunch of them. A green one, a blue one, and a sparkly white one:

I got a green one too, but I had to put it up high on a shelf so Sylvestanya didn't try to steal it too. I think she's getting very spoiled indeed. And even Asrai got a cute little fish looking one! I wonder if that's what he's going to look like when he hatches. I hope he does soon, I think Alaera is starting to get a bit worried! The day was a nice change though, we even had a great big lunch with lots of yummy foods Alaera had brought from the HQ's.

January 25, 2007Sylvestanya grew into a child today. We were out in the garden weeding when it happened. Sylvestanya had been crawling around the other side of the garden while I was over by the squash. Suddenly I heard a strange noise and a small gasp of surprise and ran over to her. I let out my own gasp of surprise when I discover that she had turned into a child.

Alaera came later in the afternoon. She was delighted to see Sylvestanya had grown and immediately started to teach her how to read as she read her one of the new story books she had brought. She said that now Sylvestanya is a child, she could go to Kalandandra's hut and get a power. I asked Alaera to take the girl but she said she was busy, with what though, she wouldn't say. She just gave me directions to the hut and then made a hurried departure. Sylvestanya wanted to go that day, but I insisted that we wait a few days before we set off.
Sylvestanya should be able to write her own entries from now on.

January 29, 2007 Tartara After visiting the power shop, Yuki had finally convinced his sister to go back to HQ's. Only....Tartara was asleep, and Mall wasn't one to wait. For anyone. So now he sat in the lounge calmly taking his sisters abuse to his poor tail. In playful spite the child pounced upon the demonic's tail, bitting it for all she was worth. It wasn't even like he was putting up a fight! [chainedfaye] Sally walked into the headquarters, completely lost. This didn't look exactly like she had expected. She lead them into a large room, hoping someone might be able to show them where to go. A building meant other people after all. Looking around, Sylvestanya tugged on one of Sally's wings. "Saaaallly" she whined "I don't think this is the power place Alaera was talking about." She was about to turn and storm out, when something caught her eye. Two black kitty shaped things. She yelled out "Kitties!!!!" and proceeded to skip over to them.
Tartara The male winced slightly as mall clamped down on his tail. He turned to frown at her when a soft sound came to his delicate ears. "Kitties? Where?" He looked around, trying to find the cats. Malloren however had a different reaction. She hissed at the approaching new forms, practically bristling. How dare they interrupt her fun! [chainedfaye] "Sylvestanya" Sally cried and hurried after the child. 'Guardians curse the day that little troublemaker learned to walk.' She could hardly control her anymore, she was so wild. Sylvestanya stopped for the briefest of moments when she heard the kitty hiss at her. She cocked her head to the side... was this a game? She wanted to play! She got down on all fours and started crawling, closing the distance between them, and hissing back. Tartara At the hissing he turned his head, seeing the hissing white thing. So THAT was the kitty! A deep growl immited from her throat, not all to happy at being 'mocked'. Just who did the kid think she was? [chainedfaye] Sally frowned. What in the world was Sylvestanya doing? Sylvestanya kept hissing, started to claw at the air and growled back at the kitty that had growled at her. She laughed, this was a fun game!! Her laughter was contagious and soon turned into giggles and she started to roll around on the floor. Once she got control of herself, she resumed her game, batting at the nice kitties tail as it swished. Tartara . . . She watched as the other rolled about, an eyebrow raised in surprise. Was this girl for real? eek His tail! With a light sigh he let it flick about slightly to help amuse the white thing. She growled again. The thing was touching her brother! "Who are you?" [chainedfaye] Sally smiled seeing the children playing together. Sylvestanya should be safe here with them. She left the room, and continued her search for someone to get directions from.
Sylvestanya stopped batting the tail and blinked when the other kitty talked. She didn't know kitties could talk. Sit back back up and looked at them closely. One had a halo and the other demon wings...they kinda looked like her and her sister. Maybe they were pae too?
"I'm Sylvestanya. Or Sylva for short. " She peered at them closely. "Who are you?" Tartara The girl swatted at yuki's tail. She had heard the question, just flat out ignored it! He sighed. "I'm...yuki." The male glanced at his sister before continuing in his soft voice. "She's Malloren." [chainedfaye] She frowned as the girl kitty started to swat at the boy's tail. Hey she wasn't done playing with that yet! She was about to growl at her when she remembered something Alaera kept lecturing her about. She had to share if she wanted to make friends. Well, she guessed she could let her have a turn. For a little bit anyways.
So instead she scooted closer to the boy who called himself Yuki. "Hi Yuki, it's nice to meet you." She scooted even closer to Yuki and brushed up against him. "Hey you're really soft! Can I pet you??" Tartara She lightly growled again, she was touching her brother! Malloren nipped at his tail. eek She wanted to...pet him? The male blinked at her slightly. "I...um...o...okay. Sure?" [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya heard the growl and looked over in time to see her bite his tail. "Hey, that's not nice!" She pulled Yuki's tail of her reach, hissing at the girl, and started to run her fingers along his tail. "Such a soft fluffy tail. I wish I had a tail like yours Yuki" she sighed longingly. Tartara "he's my brother." Mall spoke with a glare. His eyes went wide. "Dun worry, I'm used to it." Yuki smiled at Malloren. "Share mall-uh...thanks? It's fun to have mall chase..." Slowly the glare softened at her brothers words. She would be nice. For now. [chainedfaye] "Oooh" Sylvestanya replied. She could understand that. It was fun sometimes to pull on Amethyst's tail, even though she got her ear flicked afterwards. She reached up to rub the ear that had just received the punishment earlier in the morning. It still stung.
She scooted from Yuki's side to in between them both. "That was a fun game we played earlier, let's play again! I wanna be a kitty too!" Tartara She deeply growled. "what game?" His head tilted slightly, confused. Wasn't she the kitty? [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya frowned at the girl's words. She didn't understand. "The game we was playing before. Where we was pretending to be kitties. I don't got a costume though and you guys are already look like kitties. " She got an idea and put her hands up behind her head, with her fingers sticking up. "Look, I gots ears now so I can be a kitty too!" Tartara "...costumes?" She frowned. "Pretending?" He blinked. "we look like kitties?" Malloren shook her head. "We ARE kitties." [chainedfaye] She looked at Yuki and nodded before turning to Malloren. "Well that's what I thought. But you look like Pae too. And I've never seen kitty Pae before. That's so cool!!" Tartara stare "Two of a kind." @_@ "We're the kitties?" Yuki murmured in surprise. Well, that explained a lot! [chainedfaye] "Well Sally looks like a pumpkin but she was transformed into a Pae from a pumpkin. Did you transform from kitties?" she asked. She giggled at Yuki and started to swat his tail around again.. "You're silly" she grinned at him.
Tartara She shook her head. "...Thanks?" He twitched his tail around, making so she missed the first swat. The male watched the white pae carefully, unconsciously letting loose his Bad Luck. So if she wasn't a kitty, what WAS she? [chainedfaye] "Really? I bet you guys were simply adorable as babies then!!" Sylvestanya frowned as she missed his tail and tried again, leaning a bit closer to it. She must have leaned too far cause suddenly she fell flat on her face.
She sat back up and started rubbing her nose. "Oww that hurt." She looked up at Yuki and heard a snap as one of her hair ribbons broke and her pigtail came apart. Tartara He shrugged, not remembering. And as he moved his tail again, the girl fell forwards eek Malloren hissed in surprise, glaring at the white pae. "You okay?" [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya blinked. "Yeah I think so. That was sure weird though." She reached up and felt her hair loose, so she pulled the other side out too, waving it wildly from side to side, mussing it up. Tartara "You sure?" The male asked, sincerely concerned. "Klutz" [chainedfaye] "Yeah thanks. " She smiled at him sweetly before turning and glaring at Malloren. "I am not a klutz! It was just a bit of bad luck that's all. " She nodded earnestly. "If you want to see a klutz you should meet my sister, Alaera." Tartara "Why? I already see I klutz." Yuki sighed softly. "Malloren..." [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya snorted. "Well not all of us have your cat-like agility, Little Miss Kitty." She turned her back to Malloren and smiled at Yuki again. Tartara "...little miss kitty?" She spoke in distaste Yuki blinked at Sylvestanya. Why did she keep smiling at him? "So...you wanna play something?" [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya just ignored the girl. If Malloren didn't want to be nice, then she wasn't going to be nice back. But her brother seemed really nice, she liked him (well who wouldn't next to his sister). It was kinda strange how different they were.
"Yeah let's play! You pick!" Tartara He shrugged, looking at his sister. "What do you wanna play mall?" She sighed, looking at Yuki. "...otay...um...hide an go seek?" [chainedfaye] "Yeah!! I like that game. You're it!" Forgetting that she was supposed to be ignoring Malloren, she reached out to grab her hand (erm paw?) saying "Let's go hide Malloren!" Tartara Her lips pulled back as she readied to hiss. "Please mall?" He looked at his sister pleadingly. She of course, was immune to his power. "...fine." The female started to run in a direction, holding onto the angelic's hand. He closed his eyes and started to count [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya blinked in surprised when the girl let her hold her hand. Maybe they could be friends after all. She followed her and whispered "Malloren, where we gonna hide?" Tartara She lightly hissed at the dumb question. "You're white, stand out easily. Hide next to something white, away from black." Malloren pointed at herself as she said black. It had been the biggest chunk of words from the cat to date! "Five...sixty...eleven...twenty six...two..." so Yuki couldn't really count [chainedfaye] "Hey good idea. You're smart. " Sylvestanya scampered off to hide behind a white window curtain. She grinned, a white curtain in from of a white wall, Yuki would never find her! Tartara And Malloren climbed up onto the couch, curling up into a furry ball on a black fuzzy blanket. She tried to slow her breathing. Be a pillow. She must be one with a pillow. "Five thousand...sixty...hundred! Ready or not, here I come." His eyes opened and he began his search [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya tried not to breathe and stay perfectly still as she heard him finish counting and start looking. She certainly didn't want to get caught first! No that would only give Little Miss Kitty more ammo and she really didn't want that and so she tried her best to blend in with the wall behind her. Tartara She tightly closed her golden yes, not wanting to give her brother any leverage. "...mall?...I can see your halo." gonk Found so quickly [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya giggled slightly before slapping a hand over her mouth. Yay! she hadn't been caught first. But she didn't want to make it easy for them to find her either, so she stayed as quiet and still as possible. She just hoped that little giggle hadn't given her away. Tartara She sighed and sat up before turning her head and pointing at the white curtain. Malloren of course knew where the other was. Yuki giggled before walking over to where she pointed."Sylv?" [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya knew she was busted and came out from behind the curtain. "Hey, how'd you find me so fast. You must be pretty good at this game." Tartara Yuki pointed at his sister "she saw you hide." Malloren shrugged [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya glared at her. "That's cheating. Well it doesn't matter anyway cause you're it now." She grabbed Yuki's hand and dragged him away. "C'mon Yuki let's go." Tartara He jumped in the manner of all startled cats as he was dragged away. She lightly hissed before closing her eyes. "One...two...three..." she could actually count. [chainedfaye] "Yuki's where's a good place to hide that she'll never find us?? " she whispered to the boy. "I don't know my way around here, but you do" Tartara He thought about that..."Ah! You can hide in the mound of toys over there." He nodded to the far right corner. "And I on the t.v." He looked at the vcr. [chainedfaye] "OK" Sylvestanya whispered to him "but you can't tell Malloren where I'm hiding. I won't tell neither" She scampered off over the toys and quickly built up a little fort around herself. Tartara He nodded. "course." With that the little cat walked over to the t.v. and curled up onto the vcr. And unlike his sister, he didn't have an annoying halo. "Ninety nine...hundred! Comin!" Malloren opened her eyes. [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya shifted slightly. One of the toys she had build her fort around was poking her rather uncomfortably in the back, and so she was very quietly trying to move about. Unfortunately, as she moved she accidentally stepped on a squishy toy, which squeaked. Very loud. She froze, holding her breath. Tartara Yuki went very still as his sister yelled that she was coming, but his breath caught slightly at the squeak. Sylve! "Aha!" Malloren's eyes went to the bundle of toys. Toys just didn't squeak on their own! She started to crawl towards the pile Tristen walked around HQ, Tartara watching Adora. The little girl was a handful! The male shook his head with a light chuckled. She was adorable though. [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya waited, her heart seeming to beat right out of her chest in suspense. She hadn't been discovered yet...maybe no one heard the squeak, she thought hopefully and waited with baited breath. Sally was wandering around the HQ's looking for someone. She couldn't believe how big this place was, or that it was seemingly empty at the moment. She was just about to give up and go back to collect Sylvestanya when she finally found someone. A pink man, covered in...kiss marks? Sally raised an eyebrow. Maybe she should find someone else she thought before remembering that there was no one else around. She scurried forward. "Excuse me, could you help me please?"
Tartara Yuki watched his sister approach the pile of toys, willing his sister to move away. Slowly Malloren began tossing the toys over her shoulder, one at a time. He lightly smiled as he was stopped by the pumpkin pae. what interesting markings... "But of course. How could I decline the request of such a beautiful pae as yourself? How may I assist you?" [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya heard toys landing nearby and knew she had been discovered. Her heart sank. Rather than waiting to be unburied she jumped out of the pile of toys yelling "BOO!!" It was after all, in her nature to try to scare people. Sally blushed profusely and being called beautiful. She opened her mouth to respond but suddenly wasn't sure what to say that didn't sound rather stupid." I...umm...well...This-is-my-first-time-away-from-the-pumpkin-patch-and-well-we-were-looking-for-the-powers-hut- -and-got-lost-and-ended-up-here-and-I-have-no-idea-what-here-is-anyway" She rushed out all in one breath. Tartara ....She instantly hissed and clawed out viciously in reflex eek "Mall!" he chuckled, reaching out to gently touch her cheek in a sort of...comforting way. "Take a deep breath. It's alright." The males smile was as warm as always. "You are in Headquarters, the place where most pae'il gather." [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya fell back as claws ripped at her skin. Shaking her head to clear the cobwebs, she picked herself back up, and looked at her arm where she had been scratched, which was now bleeding slightly. Her eyes narrowed momentarily and she felt incredibly angry though she wasn't exactly sure why and she hissed back at the girl. The emotion passed just as quick as it came though, and she grinned at Malloren instead. "Well, I guess I won't do that again while you're around" she said as she ignored the slight stinging in her arm. She wasn't gonna let her know that it hurt at all. Sally felt incredibly confused when he touched her cheek. She had never encountered an adult male before and a strange new sensation had awoken. She pushed it away, there were more important things to think about right now. "Oh" she replied finally. "Well where is everyone then?"
Tartara Yuki scrambled off of the vcr, running towards them. "Are you okay Sylve?" "She's fine." The female sat down, examining her claws. "Her own fault." He was completely unfazed by his hand being pushed away. After all, it was the normal reaction from a strange woman. "Sleeping...walking around...occupying themselves in other rooms. Who can say for certain?" [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya smiled at Yuki, he was so nice. "Yeah, I'm fine thanks for asking. Its just a tiny little pathetic scratch. At least some people around here have manners. " She glared again at Mall. "And it wasn't my fault, you just over reacted and freaked out. "Oh. Wait people live here?" She shuddered looking at the high solid walls. Not the type of place she'd want to live. "Well maybe you could show me around some this being my first visit and all."
Tartara "no fight." Yuki spoke with a sigh, gently taking hold of her hurt arm and looking at it with a wince. After a bit of thought, the demonic reached out and grabbed a little doll. He shed the doll of it's little white dress and then slipped it onto Sylvestanya's arm as a sort of odd bandage. stare "I'm a cat. Instinct." "But of course. There is a new city where pae are going to start moving in, but still some live here." Tristen held out his arm for the other to take. [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya bit back her retort but continued glaring at Mall. She would be nice for Yuki even if she wouldn't be. She let Yuki examine her arm, eyes growing big in surprise when he bandaged her up. "Thank you. That was really sweet of you." Sally nodded, listening carefully. A city? That sounded even worse. She'd stay where she was now. Feeling awkward, she reached out to take his arm. "Lead away."
Tartara He smiled at her. "It okay. Can't have you hurt." The female deeply growled in her throat, not all too happy that the other was getting a bit to close to her brother. "as you wish." The male started down the hallway, soon leading her into a room. "This is the kitchen. Most of the time you'll find a pae'il making a snack or the like here." [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya heard the growl and just smirked evilly at Mall before turning her attention back to Yuki. She smiled sweetly at him again, let her arm "accidentally" brush up against his. "Well thank you again." Sally peered into the kitchen. Alaera had told her of the place when she brought back all that yummy food of course but she had never seen it before. It was a curious looking place. "Very nice."
Tartara He nodded. "anytime." The males smile brightened at her sweet one, pleased that he was able to help someone. burning_eyes She had seen that! Her brother might not have, but she had! Malloren glared for all she was worth at the other. Her dumb brother was too naive and sweet to see her evil plot, but she wouldn't be fooled! He nodded and started down the hall again. It wasn't long before they entered another room. "This is the library. You'll find all sorts of things here. My older brother Raken comes down here all the time and I'm starting to think he's the smartest pae around." [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya wanted to laugh as hard as she could when she saw the girl glare at her. It had worked! She still wanted to be friends with her, even after the scratching accident, but Sylvestanya just couldn't let Mall get away with it without doing something to get back at her. Besides, the likelihood of being friends seemed to be deteriorating by the minute.
She turned to Yuki "Well, it's my turn now. Both of you go hide."
Sally nodded. "Yes, Alaera sometimes brings books and reads them to us. I guess this is where she got them from." She wondered if they had any books on pumpkins. Or gardening. She would have to look later.
Tartara He nodded and took his sisters hand before she could do anything...mean. And pulled her away. Mall kept her eyes on the others as she was bodily taken away. stare He nodded, stepping out into the hall. "And way down there." Tristen gestured towards the dead end of the hallway. "Lines and lines of dorm rooms." He turned around 180 degrees. "Same that way too." [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya closed her eyes and started counting. "One...Two...Three....." Sally couldn't believe how many rooms there where. So many people. She had never imagined that there were so many people. She was starting to feel a little claustrophobic. "And you, you live in one of these rooms too?" Tartara Yuki walked off, looking about. After a bit of thought, he chose to hide under the rug. Sure he was a bit of a lump there, but if he flattened out jjjjuuuussssttttt so, it almost looked like a bunch of wrinkles! Malloren knew right off the bat where she was going to hide. Slowly the female started to climb up the white curtains the ghost pae had hid behind earlier, going to the top to quietly sit and watch from above. Tristen chuckled. "Yes. I do in fact live in one of these dorms. But a good amount of pae don't live here. Raken lives in a cave, my twin sister Amara lives in Dragnid forest...most of the rooms are actually empty" [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya opened her eyes back up at the count of 100. She quickly scanned the room, not finding anyone, and started to move around the room looking more carefully. She wasn't sure who she should find first...Yuki - and then pretend she couldn't find Mall and ignore her for awhile, or Mall - and make her be it again. Most of the rooms where empty? Sally felt her heart go back down into her chest where it belonged as she calmed down. Just the idea of being cooped up in such a small place...she shook her head to get rid of the thought. Still the walls seemed to be closing in on her. "Are there any interesting places outside. Like a garden?"
Tartara Yuki remained absolutely still as she said '100'. His breath slowed and he tried to repress his excitement. Hopefully she wouldn't step on him! The feline pae watched as Sylvestanya moved around, eyes full of contempt. Mall doubted if SHE was brilliant enough to climb up the curtains! He paused, thinking. "Yyyyes. I do believe we do. Though I haven't really gone to it that much." sweatdrop "Though I really should I suppose." [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya could feel the animosity boring into her back as she moved around. She turned, looking for the source, before rotating back around, hiding the smirk on her face, as she continued to look. 'He was sure a good hider' she thought as she approached the rug. Sally beamed eagerly hearing this news. "I would love to see it, if you don't mind." Tartara And step on him she did! With a sharp cry the poor pae leapt up, flinging the rug off of him in the movement. eek ... cry She was standing on his tail! The female almost snickered. Almost. Served her brother right! "Um...but of course." He flashed a smile at her and started walking back towards they came. After all, they had just gone in one direction. "Tell me, do you have any pae to call your own?" [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya jumped a bit, startled at his cry. She realized what had happened and rushed over to him, apologizing profusely. "I'm so sorry Yuki, I didn't know you were there!! Here let me make it better!!" She crouched down and tenderly lifted his tail up rubbing it gently. "When ever I get an owwie, Sally would always kiss it and make it better" she explain to him as she leaned down and place a soft kiss on his hurt tail. Sally wasn't exactly sure how to answer his question. "No and yes" she said finally deciding. "I don't have any children of my own, at least not Pae children, but there is a child that I have been charged with taking care of and think of her as my own. What about you Sir....you know I don't think I ever got your name, how rude of me. I'm Sally." Tartara He sniffled, blushing lightly. "It's okay....really." The male whispered, ever the one to care more about everyone else...and THEN himself. stare stare stare She...KISSED him! He was HER brother! "That is wonderful, and kind of you." The male stopped, blinking. "No...how rude of me." His hand slid down her arm to take her hand, lifting it up so he could gently brush his lips against it's back. "Tristen...a pleasure to meet you dearest Sally." [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya continued rubbing his tail gently as she apologized again. "I am sorry, it must have really hurt. It's such a nice tail too. I wish I had a tail. I bet you can do all sorts of neat things with it. And its so soft too." she said as she rubbed it across her cheek.
Sally face turned bright red as she blushed at his behavior. "Erm yes, nice to meet you as well" she said awkwardly as she slipped her hand out from his. "Now umm where was that garden again?" Tartara @_@ "Kinda...I can...chase it? And...helps keep me balanced...sorta..." Yuki half smiled at Sylve, still a bit red as he rubbed against his tail. He couldn't help but let out a light purr, after all. It was almost like petting "..." Did that ghost girl FORGET about her? He smoothly bowed his head in a nod, quite used to the blush on sally's face. That too was the usual reaction. His art at charming a girl was nearly so complex...he seldom even felt the urge to use his power. Then again, he never would. The flirting then would become serious and Sunny would undoubtedly HIT him... "Follow me dear sally." Tristen started walking again. [chainedfaye] Hearing him purr Sylvestanya let out an excited giggle and leaned closer to hear better. "That's really cool, it sounds so neat!!" she exclaimed! Sally continued to blush as she walked alongside him, eager to see the garden at last. Tartara The purr instantly cut off, his face turning and even brighter red. "s-sorry. I don't know why I do that." scream YES! That evil little thing DID forget about her! Soon Tristen opened up a sliding glass door, walking into the HQ's decent-sized garden. All sorts of different types of flowers from roses to thistles. He took a deep breath. The male really should come down here more often to get flowers to offer pretty females. [chainedfaye] "Aww don't stop! I liked it. It was comforting in a way." She nodded and picked his tail back up, rubbing it again hoping he'd start doing whatever it was again. Sally inhaled the wonderful smell of flowers as she walked inside. They had what seemed like everything here!! Forgetting about Tristen she started walking about, examining everything in awe. Tartara eek "um...uh...o-okay." Slowly his purr started up again, soft yet strong. scream And down came Malloren! Leaping off of her perch she fell towards the ghost pae. He smiled and leaned against a wall, quietly waiting. It was a very...peaceful place. [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya had leaned in again to listen, when suddenly her sixth sense went off. Wondering what was going on she looked up just in time to see a rather angry looking cat flying towards her. Sally continued to walk around the garden. Lavender, iris, daises, she counted off mentally. No pumpkins. How could there be no pumpkins!?! She would have to come back and plant some. Tartara His ears twitched slightly as Mall leapt off, head slowly raising. eek Oh no. BAM! Cat met ghost. The male closed his golden eyes. He should actually bring Adora here too as well. She loved flowers [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya suddenly found herself lying flat on her back with a black, rather pissed off looking cat on top, glaring down at her. "Oh uh hi Malloren. Where ya been?" she said as calmly as possible, though a bit frightened of the girl above her.
Sally finished her tour of garden and came back to Tristen. "It's so beautiful, thank you for bringing me here." She could only hope her own garden looked this way someday. Tartara She darkly growled "above you." "M-Mall? it's okay mall..." The black cat ignored her brother completely "Not at all, it was my pleasure to serve someone as lovely as you" He softly spoke, smiling [chainedfaye] "Ah, well, yes, I noticed that much." She made to sit up and push the girl off of her.
Sally blushed slightly, feeling a bit uncomfortable. "Erm, yes. How about we go get something to drink in that rather strange looking kitchen place?" Tartara She sharply hissed at the other, nails digging into Sylve's shoulders "Malloren!" Yuki gently reached up and pulled his sister off of the ghost pae. "As you wish." Tristen slipped out of the room with that same sweet smile. [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya smiled at Yuki before climbing back up to her feet and dusting herself off. "Thanks Yuki, but I can fight my own battles." Turning swiftly she reached around and grabbed Malloren's pigtails in a tight grip, holding them close to her as she whispered in her ear for just the two of them to hear. "Listen here you. I'll fight all you want, but it's not me you're hurting. Look at him" She tugged a pigtail to guide her gaze to Yuki. "For seeming to be so protective of him you don't pay much attention to his feelings, do you?" She pushed the girl away from her, chest heaving from the adrenalin rush.
Sally turned and followed him out. 'Something about this Pae puts me on edge' she thought, not understanding the emotions she was feeling as they coursed through her body. 'Like I should be wary of him.....'
Tartara "I just know how she is..." Yuki whispered sadly, looking down. She darkly hissed again as the other assaulted her pigtail, harshly pulling her head to the side. Her eyes seemed to glow faintly and suddenly, Sylvestanya probably felt very warm. Very very warm, almost hot. Another Malloren stood behind the ghost pae in all her flaming glory. "Uuuhhh...hmmm..." Tristen paused, looked about himself, and then continued on. "This way!" [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya felt the warmth and turned around to discover its cause. The fiery kitty frightened her considerably and she took a step back to get away from the heat, but refused to step down. "You didn't even listen did you? You're a horrible, mean person." She shook her head and turned her back to both of the, Malloren's and walked over to Yuki, intending to find some way to comfort him. She felt bad for the poor little guy being stuck with such a sister. 'He seems a bit lost. But how can that be, I thought he lived here??' Sally just mentally shook her head and continued to follow him. Tartara His eyes widened slightly at the flaming cat, but he quickly walked over to his sister and enveloped her in a hug. Yuki looked at the ghost pae sadly. "Don't call her that...please don't..." His voice was as soft as ever, ever the shockingly kind demonic. "Cuz...since she's my sister...that hurts me too..." At her brothers soft and gentle words, the flame kitty disapeared and she slowly hugged him back. That was why she adored her brother so much, even as nice as he was, he was always looking out for her. Lost? Nah, just a little discombobulated. Soon they were back in the kitchen, Tristen grinning as they entered. "Here we are!" [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya watched in wonder, her anger disappearing as quickly as it had started. She didn't quite understand. Maybe this was how it was between real brothers and sisters. It wasn't at all like how her own family acted but then they weren't really family were they. Just a bunch of people thrown together.
As she thought about it, she didn't understand why she had gotten so so very mad in the first place. She had just wanted to annoy Malloren a little bit to get back at her for scratching her arm. She stood to the side, struggling with her thoughts, watching the sweet scene in front of her. Sally was quite relieved when they finally reached the kitchen. The more time she spent with this man the more uncomfortable she got. She wandered over to a big box thing, thinking it must be the refrigerator thing Alaera had described and opened it peering inside.
Tartara When the other said nothing, Yuki slowly smiled at his new friend. Somehow he had done it. He really smoothed down the quarrel between the two. "...Sorry." The female feline murmured, looking at the ground after seeing her brothers smile. Her face twisted slightly in disgust. "Friends?" "What have you set your mind on?" Tristen lightly asked, pulling himself out a glass and filling it with tap water. It was healthy. [chainedfaye] When Sylvestanya saw Yuki smile at her she didn't feel quite as guilty. "I'm sorry too." But when the female cat suggested they be friends, her jar almost dropped to the floor. She was not expecting that! "Friends? Yeah ok, why not" she replied as nonchalantly as she could. She didn't want the other girl to think she was super excited about the idea. The refrigerator over followed with all sorts of edible goodies. She didn't know what half of this stuff was. She hesitated, and blushed before admitting this little fact to Tristen, hoping he would help her pick something out. She felt rather helpless. Tartara Oh....Yuki's chest fairly swelled with pride. Go Malloren! She softly grunted... "Well...anyhow..." She reached out and lightly touched Sylvestanya before standing up. "Tag, you're it." And the cat was off!He lightly chuckled and moved beside her in the refrigerators light. "Alright...Just tell me Dear Sally...Sweet or Mild?" [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya giggled softly and looked at Yuki, giving him a chance to run before she started to chase anyone.
Sally managed to stammer out "Mild" before breaking out in a blush again. She really did not like the way this guy was making her feel. Tartara He flashed a grin and then was off as well in the opposite direction as his sister, giggling for all he was worth. "As you wish..." He reached in and pulled out a jug of milk with a grin. He closed the refrigerator and pulled out a glass to slowly pour it. [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya giggled harder as Yuki took off. These kitties were fast she thought, and started after Mall quietly. The only way she was going to catch them was to sneak up on them. Sally raised an eyebrow at his "as you wish" comment. What was with this guy? Not liking that helpless feeling she reached into the fridge and grabbed out something too. "Cheese" she read the label on it package out loud. Tartara Going down onto all fours, the child ran smoothly to hide behind a chair, peeking cautiously out. After she had run to the other side of the room, Malloren had sat down to watch the ghost pae, not wanting to be tagged while off guard. An eyebrow rose curiously as she went into a creep. Sylvestanya was WEIRD! "Mmmm...milk and cheese. You're sure getting your daily amount of dairy today." Still grinning he offered the glass to Sally [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya creeped off in the general direction she had seen Mall take, but couldn't lay her eyes on the kitty. She frowned. She thought they were playing tag not hide and seek. Shrugging she turned around and creeped after Yuki, she had seen where he had gone at least. Sally smiled a little at this. "Yeah I guess I am." She took the glass from him with a thank and moved to the counter and started rummaging around the drawers looking for something to cut her cheese with. Tartara As Sylve approached his spot behind the chair, he smiled and cutely waved as she approached. He calculated though when he should run again. "...my dearest sally..." Tristen opened up a drawer and pulled out a knife, smiling charmingly. "Do not be afraid to ask for anything." [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya stopped short seeing his cute little wave. What did that mean? What was Yuki planning. She surveyed his position from behind the chair quickly - would he go right or left? Hmm....maybe she could surprise him... She waved back at him sweetly and stopped creeping along, instead she twirled and swirled around as she got closer, careful to keep an eye out for any sudden movement. Sally reached out and grabbed the knife from the pink pae, unknowingly brandishing it at him as she lectured him. "Now you listen here, I am not afraid to ask for anything, I just like doing things on my own. Next time I might not have such an obliging tour guide as yourself to help me around. " She turned around and start cutting the cheese into slices. When she was done, she turned back around and offered him one." Tartara The little feline pae of course wasn't planning anything. It was just the nice thing to do. He blinked as she swirled and twirled...unconsciously feeding his bad luck powers. Malloren shivered from the other side of the room. Yuki was doing something...weird. But...she didn't know what exactly. Golden eyes widening slightly, he lifted his hands in a non-aggressive manner. "Alright, alright. There is no need for anger. If you wish for independence then you should have told me. And since staying here would just offend you more, I shall leave you to your meal." All of this was spoken very courtesy in a soft...almost gentle voice. Tristen never had a bad thought in his life, being a sweet and kind fae, so wasn't in the least bit angry. Instead, he was upset at his own self. He turned and started towards the exit.

[chainedfaye] Sylvestanya had just sprung into action when she felt tingly again for some strange reason and a sense of doom spread through her. This was not going to end well. The plan had been to jump over the chair and surprise the little kittie boy, she was certain Yuki wouldn't have been ready for that. But as she jumped, her foot got caught on the back of the chair and she went flying over it. The feeling was quite exhilarating at first, until she relaxed the ground was approaching horribly fast and tried to flutter her wings to stay afloat. It helped, but she still hit the ground with a very loud, and very hard thump!
Sally suddenly felt bad - he had completely misunderstood her! For once her mothering nature and lecturing ways had backfired on her. She blinked in surprise, watching him walk off before rushing after him. "Wait, please. My dear Tristen, you have misunderstood me. I am not angry with you at all. " She hesitated before she spoke again. "It's just..there's something in your manner that seems to make me feel uncomfortable, and well I've never been around a older guy pae before and well, I'm not certain if its just you, or perhaps all guys but well, you but make me rather uneasy like I always have to be on alert for some reason" She rushed out hardly taking a breath, her cheeks reddening in embarrassment. What was wrong with her today? Tartara Instantly the flow cut off as the other soared. Yuki instantly ran over to her, eyes wide in distress. "Sylve! Sylvestanya! You okay?!" Her ears flattened slightly and she slowly crept over to them, thinking it a trick. When told to wait, he of course stopped, looking at her. Immediately the realization dawned on him. "I am the Fae pae of love. I am not one to make others fall in love with each other...as I do with me. I thought that all would be well since I wasn't using my powers but...I think since you've never met an older male, you were picking up my natural charm more then others." He took a slow breath. "Lets try this again...My name is Tristen, and I have two beautiful daughters with a woman I care very deeply for." [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya slowly sat up, rubbing her head in a daze. It took awhile for the fog to lift. She didn't seem to be hurt anywhere, just a rather rough landing. Something strange had happened though. She just didn't know what. She looked at Yuki curiously before nodding. "Yeah I'm ok." Sally nodded in understand. Well that would certainly explain those weird feelings - no wonder she hadn't been herself. She hoped that now that she knew what was going on, she was able to ignore his charm somewhat. "Daughters? Really? How old are they? I seem to find myself with my own herd of adoptees now, but none of them are my own children." Sally suddenly drained of color. "Oh dear, in the wake of the lovely tour and snack, I forgot I left Sylvestanya in the great big room with rather two strange looking kitties. I should go check on them. Why don't we bring them a snack too? I'm sure Sylvestanya would love to meet your daughters as well." Tartara He let out a small sigh of relief, extending his hand towards her. He didn't care about the game anymore. She was more important then being 'it'. "Good..." He murmered. stressed Malloren fought down her anger at her brothers kindness. She had to be good. sweatdrop "Are you...sure you're okay?" 4laugh Tristen absolutely adored talking about his twins. "Oh yes. Adora and Merion. They're four months old and are now rambunctious children! And two...strange...kitties? Oh no. She's with Malloren." He sighed and shook her head. That female was testier then a shaken up snake. "What does Sylvestanya like? I can make the two...'kitties' some peanut and butter sandwiches as a sign of peace." Tristen lightly joked, now actually trying NOT to be charming and more...normal. It was hard! [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya found herself reaching for Yuki's hand despite the newfound wariness she had for him. He was too nice and sweet to do anything that would hurt her. Sylva looked over at Mall, surprised at hearing her concern. She tilted her head as she contemplated the girl...it seemed sincere enough. She had somewhat doubted her offer to be friends... but maybe they could all be really good friends after all!! Sally grew more worried at his response. He seemed to know who these kitties were, and worse yet, he thought they needed peace offerings? She shook her head. Knowing Sylvestanya, things were probably a little out of control about now. She walked quickly to the door and stuck her head out, listening intently. Well, no bloodcurdling screams...that had to be a good sign. She walked back over to Tristen, attempting to help him. "I'm sure she'd like the same thing"...she had no idea what a peanut and butter sandwiches, but it didn't sound too bad. Maybe she'd try one later too. She threw a nervous glance to the door again. "Let's hurry though ok." Tartara Yuki smiled and gently helped her up. "you scared me there." Her tail gently swished, turning her head stubbornly to the side. She would be friends for Yuki's sake...but she didn't have to like it. "Three PP and J sandwiches, comin' right up." He moved around the kitchen with familiar ease, getting out peanut butter, grape jelly and of course, bread. "Oh wait. Chunky or smooth? ...eh, nevermind. One can't go wrong with smooth." He took a knife and started to spread some smooth peanut butter onto a piece of bread. [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya giggled some. "Yeah it was kinda scary flying through the air like that. Maybe I should work on my flying some. Or maybe just my landing" she giggled harder.
Sally watched as he put together the sandwiches, no longer feeling helpless as she just stood by. Tristen was certainly handy in the kitchen. These sandwich things looked rather good, she hoped Sylvestanya would eat it. She could be picky at times. Noticing he was almost done she moved to a cabinet she had seen plates in earlier and got three out handing them to him. Tartara sweatdrop "Landing first...then flying" Yuki lightly chuckled in response Mall fluttered her own angelic wings...but of course she knew they weren't big enough to lift her yet. "Why were you jumping over a couch?" Tristen smoothly set the sandwiches on the three plates, holding two in his hands and one on his forearm like an actual waiter. "There we go...lead the way dear sally!" He chuckled. [chainedfaye] "Oh well I was trying to catch Yuki 'causeeee" she moved into a crouch, and lightly tapped Yuki on the arm before taking off running calling back over her shoulder "he's it!" Sally smiled and led them out the kitchen and down the hall at a rather brisk pace. She had just entered the room in front of Tristen when she saw Sylvestanya running straight toward. She smiled, happy to see her young charge was alright, belatedly realizing that the girl was not looking where she was going. "Sylvestanya" she cried out hurriedly hoping to get her attention, but only managed a few syllables out before SMACK! she ran straight into Sally, tumbling them both down to the ground. Tartara eek He'd been tricked! The feline grinned though good heartedly and turned towards his sister stare "Don't you try....." Malloren darted off, but came to a skidding halt when she saw Tristen. "..." Quickly Yuki padded over to sally and Sylve, blinking worriedly "You okay?" As they entered the room and saw a child running towards them, Tristen smoothly stepped to the side as to not get caught up in the mess. He smiled at Yuki and looked down at the two girls. "Yes, are you two alright?" [chainedfaye] Rawr! This was getting ridiculous. Sylvestanya snapped her head up to look at the new pink person. She sighed "Yes I'm fine. Just seem to be having a rough day. Think I picked up some bad luck somewhere." She heard a muffled grunt and realized she was laying on top of Sally. "Oops! Sorry Sally" she said as she climbed off and helped her up. Sally grunted under the weight of Sylvestanya. She sure had gotten bigger. And heavier. At least that's what it felt like when she was sitting on your chest. She let the little girl help her up and smiled down at her, discreetly checking over her to make sure she hadn't gotten hurt. "Well, I hope you've been behaving yourself Sylvestanya. I see you've made some friends. This nice gentlemen here and I made some snacks for you all." She smiled warmly at the two kitten kids.
Tartara The instant sally looked at him, he darted shyly behind his sister. Malloren rolled her eyes. Same old Yuki. She held her hands out expectantly. Same old Malloren sweatdrop Tristen crouched down smoothly to hand a plate to her, then to Yuki to at last offer Sylve a dish "Its good, promise" wink [chainedfaye] Sylvestanya took the plate from the big pink fae and looked at it, wondering what it was. She shot a quick glance over at her new friends to see if they were eating it before taking a tiny nibble out of the corner. Hey! That was pretty good! She gobbled it down. Sally smiled even wider as she saw the little boy dart behind what she assumed was his sister. She squatted down to his height and reached out her hand. "Hi there! My name is Sally, what's yours?" Tartara Slowly he looked out from behind Malloren, taking a small bite of sandwich and swallowing it. "...Yuki." The feline bit viciously into her meal unlike her brother. "Malloren." "See? No one can turn down Tristen's sandwiches!" He grinned. [chainedfaye] "Mmmm, good." Sylvestanya managed to mumble out in between bites of the yummy sandwich. She didn't know what was in there but it was one of the best things she had ever eaten. Much better than the vegetables Sally was always giving her. She hoped that Sally had been paying attention when this Tristen person had made them. Sylva started to say something, but her mouth was full and crumbs sprayed everywhere.
She covered her mouth and swallowed with a giggle. "Sorry. Sally did you find out where the powers place was??" "Well it's awfully nice to meet you Yuki and Malloren." Sally thought they were both incredibly adorable but was rather concerned with the way the girl Malloren was savaging ripping into her food. Her attention was diverted at Sylvestanya's question. She felt rather guilty, she had completely forgotten about why they had even come here in the first place. She shook her head no, before turning to Tristen. "Do you know where this power place is that she is talking about. We were on our way there when we got lost and ended up here?" Tartara He lightly blushed and nodded. "Nice to meet you too." He took another bite, looking up at her. The female finished off her sandwich, shrugging. "Of course." He turned to face the hallway which they came from. "You just go down this hall and take a right on out of HQ's. Then follow the building left and turn right at the end of it to go straight. Keep going straight until you see a little cottage. Thats where the potions master is." [chainedfaye] Sally nodded as she listened closely to Tristen, hoping she could remember it all long enough to find their way there. She reached for Sylvestanya's somewhat now sticky hand and held it in her own. "Well we'd better get going then. We don't want to get caught in the dark. It was nice meeting you all," she smiled. Sylvestanya frowned. She didn't want to go yet, she and Mall where finally just starting to get along somewhat decently. But the idea of getting her power was awfully tempting too. After all, she could just come back to play with Yuki and Mall again once she had gone to get her power. She waved to them both, and promised "I'll come back and play again with you guys later ok? Today was lots of fun!" Tartara His bright green eyes widened in surprise, a sound of disappointment rising in the back of his throat but being to mild mannered to utter it. "Bye bye Sylvestanya..." He murmured, speaking the long name without stutter or pause. An improvement for someone shy of talking. "Good riddance" She gnawed on the last bit of bread. "Malloren! Be nice." He gently scolded. The fae hated to, but he full well knew what would happen if they weren't taught manners early on. His golden eyes then went to sally and he gave her a truly charming smile that had nothing to do with the power he had inside. "Have a safe trip Sally. I hope to see you again soon." [chainedfaye] Hearing the good riddance comment, Sylvestanya turned back around and stuck her tongue out of Malloren playfully. At least she hoped Malloren was kidding.
"Thank you Tristen" Sally called out over her shoulder and tugged on Sylvestanya arm for her to keep up as they left the building.

February 1, 2007 Sally and I finally managed to find the powers hut. It wasn't as exciting as I expected, nothing really happened. Just put some stuff together into a bottle and drank it. I don't feel any different though.
[chainedfaye] Sally walked into the hut with Sylvestanya in hand. 'We finally found the place' she heaved a sigh of relief. She looked around and see no one was a bit dismayed. 'All this way for nothing.' She turned and started to leave. "Wait Sally, there's a letter here" Sylvestanya cried out. She picked it up and started to slowly read it - Alaera had been teaching her how to read but she was still learning and not very good at it yet. "I think you have to mix stuff together in this jar." she announced and moved to the shelves to make her choices. She wasn't sure what the stuff on the first shelf was and so she just grabbed one and tossed it in. She thought she should be a bit more cautious about the next two shelves though and had trouble picking between the items labeled Silver, Steel, and Mithril. The little girl finally just closed her eyes, stuck a finger out, waved it around and pointed to something. She opened her eyes. Mithril it was! She added that into the beaker too. The last ingredient wasn't quiet so hard. She reached up and grabbed the teal colored bottled, thinking it was the prettiest color out of all of them, and mixed it in with all the rest.
She looked up at Sally hesitantly before shrugging and drinking the whole thing down. 'That didn't taste like much at all' she thought.
"Ok Sally, your turn now." I made Sally make a potion too. She didn't really seem like she wanted too though. Why wouldn't you want a special power?

February 1, 2007Alaera's direction to the power hut were horrible. I'm gonna kill her next time I see her. We got lost so many times it's a miracle we even found the place. And then Sylvestanya insisted I make a potion and get a power too. I have a strange suspicion that was why Alaera made me take her instead of going herself like I wanted her too. [chainedfaye] Sally blinked. "Me? Why do I need a power?" She thought for a moment before sighing, what did it hurt? Besides she was here already and she could just imagine Alaera making her traipse all the way back here. "Oh all right" she told the child as she picked up a beaker and moved over to the shelves. She just started dropping stuff in without much care. A little of this (she wasn't exactly sure what 'this' was), a drop of gold, and a pinch of brown powder.
"Cheers" she said raising her glass before swallowing the potion. She immediately starting coughing, her eyes welling. "Come on Sylvestanya, Aunt Sally needs to find some water, that was a bit salty." She grabbed the child's hand and lead her out of the hut thankful that ordeal was over. The potion tasted horrible too, I felt like I had just drunk an entire lake full of salt. I hope those two conniving girls are happy.

A small note fluttered in through the open window, and danced in the air as it traveled across the room, before settling nearby to a quietly slumbering little girl. Guardian_Iris Ooo! It looks like Sylvestanya has drank the bland Potion of The Quickening Darkness. I wonder how it will effect her? Congratulations, Sylvestanya!
The Guardians are pleased that you have chosen to grow and expand your role on the island.
However, drinking a strange potion doesn't come without consequence. You feel urges and instincts that you never have. Your hands tingle a little bit, alerting you to a change that is beginning in your body.
Maybe its obvious to you what is going on, or maybe you need time to figure it out; it doesn't matter right now because the reality is, you now have the ability Possession! (Chaos) ((Obviously, this ability will start out weak, with many limitations, but it is up to you, [chainedfaye], how you choose to develop it. Possession means that Sylvestanya will be able to possess another pae by physically inhabiting them. It's up to you, Faye, how much she can see of their thoughts and memories and whether or not she can be blocked out. Keep in mind though that this power should not be godmodded. This ability will be unique to Sylvestanya only, however you may allow her to have other abilities as Pae'il are magical creatures. Just be aware that the Guardian Blessed ability is the only official one however. If you have questions, feel free to ask. Please remember, all powers come with weaknesses too. The more well-rounded the ability is developed (ie, strength AND weakness) the better the chance of being chosen for Elder when they are older. )) It laid there, waiting, anxious to be read, only to be brushed aside as the little pale colored girl tossed and turned, disappearing under the edges of the mattress.

Sometime later that very same day, another small piece of parchment floated down, this time landing on the top of a pumpkin that happened to be situated nearby to where a brightly colored orange angel pae was working in the garden. It lay there for some time, basking in the sun, waiting patiently for the woman to work her way to it. When she did, Sally picked the parchment up eyes scanning over the note.
Guardian_Iris Ooo! It looks like Sally has drank the salty Potion of Stable Portals. I wonder how it will effect her? Congratulations, Sally!

Pumpkinport means that Sally will be able to warp from pumpkin patch to pumpkin patch. However, since pumpkins are not natural to the landscape of Telrunya, she must first plant the patches in whatever places she thinks she will need to teleport to later. I shall have to start planting pumpkins everywhere!' she though before toddling off to find some seeds she had been saving.

http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=8151551 March 9, 2007I accidentally used my power for the first time today and ended up in the garden of Ivy, the Elder of Flora. We had a lovely talk. And she can talk to pumpkins too! She even helped me to plant some pumpkin matches around the isle so I can teleport to them! spookyx7 Ivy sat out in her garden, where she could be found most the the time. She touched different plants and even talked to them, only she could hear what they said. The plants were friends and even family to Ivy.
Ivy was near the pumpkins, they were getting mighty big. The plants in Ivy's garden grew all year long with her help. "You are looking healthy and big today." She said with a loving smile. [chainedfaye] Sally was out working in her garden as well, standing next to her favorite pumpkins. They had been good friends of her back when she was still one too, and she made sure they were well taken care of, even more so than the rest of the patch.
She couldn't help but think of the little note she had received some time ago after drinking that horrible tasting potion - her power was Pumpkinport. She was quite excited and eager to try it out, but she wasn't sure there were any other pumpkins around the island. She had planted a few a ways from her garden, but they hadn't grown yet.
She sat down next to her best friend, absently rubbing her fingers against it, thinking fondly of all the pumpkins she had known in her time. As she thought of other pumpkins something strange happened...a sort of humming, then a loud pop, and she fell back, her weight no longer support by the pumpkin behind her - in fact the pumpkin behind her had completely vanished. She stood up amazed to see that these weren't her pumpkins and that she wasn't in her garden.
She looked up to see a figure sitting close by. "Oh. Umm. Hello!" spookyx7 Ivy was whispering to a rather large pumpkin when she saw something very strange. A pumpkin started to grow, not around mind you, but up! "What?"
Ivy stood back as it grew and then she saw that it was a pae! Did a pumpkin just grow into a pae? She hadn't seen that before. "Hello...who are you?" Maybe this pumpkin pae could answer her questions. [chainedfaye] "Oh dear, I'm so sorry to have intruded into your garden. Which is lovely by the way" she praised as her eyes glanced over the well kept garden. Sally couldn't help but wonder if this was the person that took such wonderful care of it as her examining eyes now moved over to her...she was rather strange looking...nothing like she had ever seen before. But that wasn't surprising, seeing as how she hadn't met very many people yet.
"Oh forgive me," she exclaimed, her mind breaking out of its inner thoughts to address the person in front of her. "My name is Sally. " spookyx7 Ivy watched as this pumpkin pae looked around her garden. She seemed to enjoy it, which made Ivy's smile grow. "Well, no need to apologize, everyone is welcome in my garden. I'm Ivy, Elder of Flora." She threw out her title to maybe help explain her appearance. "How'd you get here?" [chainedfaye] "Oh hi Ivy, nice to meet you." Elder of flora? Well, that made sense, Alaera had said she met a strange looking Pae Elder too. "How'd I get here?" Sally repeated looking around at the garden again, slightly confused herself. "Well, I was sitting in my garden, having a talk with my best pumpkin friend and well..next thing I knew I was here." She suddenly realized what must have happened and grew rather excited. "Oh my goodness, I must have accidentally used my new power. It's called Pumpkinport you see, and allows me to teleport between pumpkin patches, but I've never been able to before. I didn't think there were any other pumpkin patches on the island!" spookyx7 Ivy smiled and nodded and let the girl talk. She talked to pumpkins...Ivy thought she was the only one who could have conversations with plants.
"That's interesting. Of course there are other patches. Well, at least I have one. I have every kind of plant in my garden. They like it here." She said with a smile. "Would you like something to drink?" [chainedfaye] 'Other pumpkin patches too, how exciting' Sally thought - she would have to try to use her power again to visit them all. "Yes, I can understand why they would like it here, it's very well kept. I actually feel quite at home as well" she laughed lightly.
"A drink? Yes, please, if it's not too much trouble." spookyx7 Ivy smiled, "Thank you." She said to the compliment. "I'll be right back."
Ivy went into the treehouse and then appeared later with two glasses of water. She handed one to Sally. "Maybe I could grow a few more patches for you. You know at your favorite places and then you can practice more?" Ivy was alway looking for a reason to use her power in a way that helped other paes. [chainedfaye] Sally took the glass from her and took a sip. "Oh that would be nice!" Sally exclaimed happily. "I have planted a few seeds around in various places" she admitted, "but they haven't seemed to take root yet. Or at least they won't talk to me yet." spookyx7 "Really? I can make them grow into full patches from here. Just let me know where the seeds are." Her elder status made it so she could grow plants from anywhere on the isle.
"You can talk to them? My pumpkins never said there was another pae who could communicate with them." She said with a small frown. She could talk to any and all plants, but her favorites were the trees. [chainedfaye] "Oh well, I don't leave my patch that often, so I'm sure they didn't know about me. Although I'm having a bit a trouble understanding them, which is really rather odd, I've never had that trouble before with my pumpkins" she said as she circled around one of the rather large one tilting her slightly in her effort to understand the plants. She couldn't explain why, but it disturbed her to no end that their words made no sense to her...some of them sounded familiar but at the same time so foreign to her.
"'Course they were my friends and family for years before I turned into a Pae" she added. She frowned - maybe she had been a Pae for too long now and was starting to forget. spookyx7 Ivy sat down as a vine-chair formed beside her. "So, are you telling me you were a pumpkin at one time?" This was very strange and unique. "Do you remember what it was like before you were a pae?" She was interested to know what it was like to be a plant, since Ivy was friend to all plat as it was. [chainedfaye] Sally sat down in the dirt next to one of the pumpkins. There was still something about the dirt that made her feel like home. "Yes, I used to be a pumpkin once" she answered with a distant look on her face. "I watched the pumpkins around me flourish with each season, and then grow old and die. But for some reason I did not, merely weakened and fell into a sleep-like stage for the many months of winter. Many in my patch were my own children. I watched over them, looked after them, generation after generation, and cared for them as like any grandmother would. That is until the Guardians decided to change me into a Pae to care for a protect a helpless newborn that had been left alone, abandoned, in my little garden. " Sally broke out of her memories with a laugh. "And that little newborn has grown like a weed, she's a child already!" spookyx7 Ivy nodded as she listened to the interesting story, "You cannot have come from my garden then. I do not let my plants die." The plants in her garden grew big and strong until they gave themselves to be harvested. No plant was taken until they were ready. "They stay until they are ready to go." Ivy said as she looked at her garden. [chainedfaye] Sally shook her head. "No my patch was not cared after. Wild, I guess you would call it. They pumpkins are well cared for now of course, but sometimes I worry about the other plants. I can't talk to them and see what they need. " She followed Ivy's gaze...her garden seemed never ending.
"Do you think we might take a walk around your garden? I'd love to see what else you care for. " spookyx7 "I care for and talk to all I can." Ivy said with a smile. The plants that she couldn't talk to were in Dragnid, they were too evil to talk to her.
"Sure, that sounds wonderful." Ivy showed her a path that came to be just by Ivy stepping foot into the garden. "Anything is particular you want so see?" [chainedfaye] Sally shook her head. "No, not really, just curious as to what else you have planted. My garden's not nearly as big, I only have some carrots, and some strawberries for Alaera, squash and tomatoes. I don't really have seeds for anything else." She stepped on the path and waited for Ivy to lead the way. spookyx7 Ivy nodded, "I have no need for seeds. I can grow anything, including new species." Ivy led her to a plant that was bush-like with reddish-yellow fruits. They were long with seeds on the outside. "This is my strawberry-banana plant. Do you like it." Ivy didn't show her new creations to everyone, but felt this pae worthy. [chainedfaye] Sally's eyes widened as she kneeled down to examine the plant closer. They were very strange looking but strawberry-something? She leaned forward and took a a sniff at the fruit...it did smell like strawberries! Sally had never heard of the other thing Ivy said it was named, but if it was paired with strawberries it had to be good. Her mouth was practically watering wanting to try it.
"That's amazing! Does it really taste like strawberries?" spookyx7 Ivy smiled and giggled, "Yup, it tastes like the two blended together." She knelt to the plant and asked if it was ready to let someone use the fruit to nourish their body and it did, "Go ahead and pick one and try it. The plant doesn't mind." [chainedfaye] Sally reached out and gently picked one of the fruits from that plant, silently thanking it for its offering. She knew it wouldn't understand her since she couldn't talk to any other plants, but it was a force of habit.
She bit into the fruit and savored the juices filling her mouth as she chewed. "Mmmm, it does taste like a strawberry...and something else too that tastes good. Have you been able to get it to grow elsewhere on the island?" spookyx7 Ivy smiled as the girl said thanks to the plants, "They say you're welcome."
She then nodded, "Yup, I can grow anything from anywhere on the isle." When she became an elder he power was enhanced to let her grow plants from anywhere she stood. [chainedfaye] "That's amazing. I wish I was able to do that. I bet Alaera would love a plant like that of her own, she already raids my strawberry plants whenever she gets the chance" Sally said with a laugh. "What did you call that other fruit though, I've never heard of it before?"
Without waiting for an answer she started to walk through the garden again, looking for more interesting plants. "What else do you have?" Sally felt like she had fallen straight into the Garden of Eden. spookyx7 Ivy smiled, "Well, thank you! That's very kind of you to say. You can take extra for her to try, if you wish. The other plant is a banana, they don't grow on Telrunya normally, but I was able to get a small plant from Spooky and now they only grow in my garden."
She followed Sally and then pointed, "See." Ivy was pointing at a banana tree that was standing at the edge of her garden. It had a few bundles a yellow bananas hanging off of it. [chainedfaye] Sally took a few steps closer to the plant to examine it. It was similar to the other plant they had just seen except it was smooth on the outside and a bright yellow color. She shook her head in wonder. "I never knew so many strange plants existed." spookyx7 Ivy smiled, "There are so many plants on Earth, I can't name them all." She wished she could go, but knew her place was here as an elder. "If we keep going, I can show you more." [chainedfaye] Sally nodded and gestured to Ivy to led her on. "How does one get to this earth place? I wonder if I can teleport there too?" The idea excited her visibly. How wonderful it would be to see such amazing plants! spookyx7 Ivy walked on to show her more of the garden. "Well, I don't know for sure, never been there myself. Spooky just brings me pictures and plant samples." She stopped in front of another plant. This one with bright fire blossoms. "I made this one for a friend a long time ago." [chainedfaye] Sally's heart sunk. Maybe she wouldn't ever be able to visit this earth place after all. now that she thought about it, it didn't seem likely that the Guardians would give her a power that would allow her to teleport to a pumpkin patch on earth. Not when she had her responsibilities here.
Sally "Oooohed" over the new plant. She had never seen anything even remotely similar before but that seemed to be the growing trend in this fascinating garden. spookyx7 "This was for a friend to impress another friend. I shouldn't say who." Ivy laughed and then started to walk some more. "So, anything in particular you would like to see?" [chainedfaye] Sally shrugged. "I really don't know what to say. You have so many unique and strange things in your garden, I don't think I could quite imagine anything else that might be hiding around here too" she said with a smile. spookyx7 Ivy smiled, "Well, thanks. I do pride myself on this garden." She was the Elder of Flora after all. What else could she work hard on. "Would you like me to help you grow pumpkin patches in different spot on the isle?" [chainedfaye] Sally clapped her hands together. "Oh that would be lovely! I haven't really been anywhere else on the island before though, I wouldn't know where it would be useful to plant them so I could teleport to....HQ I'm sure but I've only been there once before...."
She trailed off and looked up at the elder with concern. "I don't even know if I will be able to teleport back to my pumpkin patch. " spookyx7 "Well, I know a few good spots." Ivy said thinking of all the places she had been on the isle. Ivy saw the concern on her face. "Why don't you try going home and then try coming back here. I can wait for you to see if it works." [chainedfaye] "But then what if I get home and am not able to get back? I don't eve know where we are, what if I couldn't find my way back here?" Sally had no idea how she had activated her power in the first place. She would have to be careful or else she could end up in a very dangerous situation.
She shook her head. "No, lets plant pumpkins first, while you are able to show me good places too. " spookyx7 "We are in the Fae Clearing, my home of choice." She nodded and understood why she would be nervous. Having a power and learning how to use it was always hard.
"Ok, sure. Maybe we could put one by the beach? Mountains? Houses of Healing? Where else would be good?" Ivy could do it form here, but thought it would benefit Sally to see these places. [chainedfaye] Sally just nodded blankly. She had no idea where any of those places where. This was only the second time she had ever left her patch and the first time wasn't all that great a memory...a strange male love pae and getting lost and drinking a horrible salty potion thing. It didn't exactly inspire one to be adventurous.
"Umm, yeah, those places sound fine." spookyx7 "Ok, let's do the HQ first." That was the best place to start. Seeing how lots of paes went through that area. I'll lead the way, unless you know how to get there." She didn't want to come off as bossy. [chainedfaye] Sally waved her forward. "Oh no please lead! The last and only time I've ever been there, we were looking for the power hut and somehow ended up at HQ." She laughed. "I guess I'm not very good with directions." spookyx7 Ivy laughed, "Well, when you become as old as I, you'll be an expert at this place." She still could believe she was so old.
Ivy lead her in a short path to the HQ's main door. "So, where would be a good place to put the patch?" [chainedfaye] Sally thought for a moment. "Um well, they would need someplace out of the way so others wouldn't trample on them. And something with plenty of sunlight, but not where they would get too much and die of heat. And somewhere they can get plenty of water when it rains or where it would be easy to water them."
She cast around for such a place. She finally found it toward the rear of the structure, right in the corner. It was out of the way with the sun's rays lazily gazing down on it. "How about there?" she pointed. spookyx7 Ivy smiled and watched as the girl looked around. "That is a perfect place. You have a great nack for this." She liked talking to someone who knew as much as she did about plants.
Ivy walked over and placed her hands near the ground. After just a few seconds the corner was covered in vines and big, orange, pumpkins. "These will stay here and not need to be picked...unless someone wants to pick them." [chainedfaye] Sally watched in awe as the pumpkins sprang up out of the ground and grew to normal size in just a matter of moments. "Wow" she breathed. "That was amazing!" She walked forward and rubbed her hands over the rind of her new pumpkins lovingly. Sally could her the murmurings of their new voices and leaned closer to listen, curious as to what they might be saying at their birth. But again, for some strange reason she could not quite understand them. Frowning, she listened closer. Then suddenly she realized what the difference was...she could understand them perfectly, they just had a different dialect and a bit of an accent! She giggled somewhat - it made perfect sense after all for a patch to develop their language differently...they were isolated from other groups. And this group was very similar to the one in Ivy's garden. spookyx7 Ivy smiled and watched as Sally rubbed the pumpkins. "You and I are kindred spirits I think." She showed the love and affection for the pumpkins as Ivy should for all plant-life. "Ready to move on?" [chainedfaye] Sally blushed slightly as she realized what she was doing. She smiled at the compliment though, it was an honor to be a kindred spirit with the elder.
The pumpkin angel nodded. "Where to next?" spookyx7 "Well, the Healing Houses is always a good place." She smiled knowing that lots of pae's liked to go there and relax, she had even done that so long ago. "This way." Ivy started to walk again to show Sally where to go. [chainedfaye] Sally nodded and followed her lead once again, trying her best to remember the path they took, though she got distracted at times by the scenery. The plant life on the rest of the isle was just as fascinating to her, perhaps she really should leave her patch more often and get acquainted with them.
As they passed by a darkened forest, and shiver ran up her spine. The trees seemed strange almost well as if they were waiting for their next victim. She pointed to the forest and asked "What's that? Do you ever go in there?" spookyx7 Ivy looked back as Sally had stopped right next to Dragnid forest. "That's Dragnid Forest....the evilest place on Telruyna." She shivered herself and looked away. "I have and really I hate that place. I can't talk to the plants there as the refuse...they say I take advantage..." Ivy looked at Sally and forced herself to smile, "It's not true though." [chainedfaye] Sally nodded and giggled a bit, before covering her mouth apologetically. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to laugh, it's just well, I know first hand you can't make a plant do something it doesn't want to." She smiled remembering just how stubborn she had been as a pumpkin. spookyx7 Ivy just looked as the girl laughed in her face. "Well, it's not that simple." She then turned to go to the next place, she was done talking about her most hated place on the Isle other than the Lake of course. [chainedfaye] Sally's smile faded. She felt like she had insulted the Elder somehow, though she hadn't meant to. Silently, she continued to follow her to their next destination. spookyx7 Ivy turned around as they neared the Houses of Healing. "Next spot! This place is good to have, since the faes here help with healing and with relaxation." She almost felt she was now giving a tour of the isle, but she was happy to do it. [chainedfaye] Sally nodded politely, until she caught sight of the building itself. "Oh wow" she exclaimed. It was impressive, not quite as big as HQ but more more elegant. She noticed a stray fae scattered about. "We will have to find an out of the way place to plant the patch, I'm sure this place gets a lot of traffic." She didn't want her patch to get in the way or get trampled. spookyx7 "That's very true. Maybe off of here a bit. I mean, you don't have to be right next to it." She giggled a little and then waited to see what Sally said. She wondered if other paes would wonder where all the patches came from. [chainedfaye] Sally nodded in agreement. "Yeah that seems like a good spot." This time she kept a careful eye on Ivy, watching to see exactly how she created the plants. spookyx7 "Ok, good." Ivy looked at the ground and then put her hand out. She felt the seeds already in the ground root and then sprout, after a while the whole patch was there. Ivy wiped sweat away, "Where to next?" [chainedfaye] Sally shrugged as she walked forward to welcome this group of pumpkins. "I dunno" she said. Just as she reached the first pumpkin a late growing root sprouted up from the ground and she tripped over it and th pumpkin angel went sprawling. Oh no she thought with horror, I'm going to land right on them. She closed her eyes and to her surprise landed with a thud on the empty ground. Opening an eye cautiously, she suddenly realized she was no longer at the patch by the Healing House. She was back home! In her panic she must have teleported! But how would she get back to tell the Elder what had happened?
She placed her hand on the pumpkin and concentrated, hoping she would teleport back to where she had been. But nothing happened. She rose and tried another pumpkin. Still nothing. She started to worry as she tried yet another pumpkin and yet again nothing happened. She hoped Ivy wouldn't think too horribly of her for suddenly abandoning her - she really like the elder and was grateful for the help she had given her. Sally sighed. She didn't know the way to the faerie clearing from her. Perhaps when Alaera came back she would ask her then. She really was helpless when it came to directions and getting lost. Until then there really wasn't anything more she could do. She tried another pumpkin again, without much hope. Still nothing. Maybe she could only teleport once per day? She would try again tomorrow, perhaps she would get lucky and end up back in Ivy's garden. spookyx7 Ivy watched as the pumpkin girl fell forward and then disappeared. "Neat power." She said with a smile. She then waited and crossed her fingers that Sally made back, but after 15 minutes gave up. She hoped to see the girl again and started to wander home. She knew Sally would figure it out, powers took time.

Alaera stopped by today with an adorable little plushie for me and a rather strange story about a little man. I love my new plushie, he's the most perfect shade of green, my favorite color. Of course, Sylvestanya wanted to play with it almost the instance she set eyes on him, so I had to set him up high on the shelf next to my other plushie I got at Christmas time. Isn't he cute!
