well this is a hurtful coment but its something we live with more and more now we seem to become more hateful by the day and christianity used to bring us together in a hateless relationship with jesus crist our lord and savior but it now fumes some peoples hatred towards each other to understand alot of what jesus said truely you must scratch below the surface look super dooper hard but people just cant be ******** and or are incompetant at doing so those people make me angry posting opinons on things they barely understand. we must put this seemingly intolorable behavior aside to truely grow as a religion in the way jesus whanted when he died on the cross to save us. xxx Emily Wynn 13 smile *sorry if that made no sence i write and dont look back* heart by order love each other heart *or something like that* heart

Now I'm tempted to ask that and see what happens! Most likely people will come to my defense if someone did flame me though. A lot of people I've met on Gaia defend the person being flamed even if they disagree with the victim.

Unfortunately, chaoticpuppet has a point. Not about Jesus and God on Earth, though he has a point there. The unfortunate part is about ED.
Extended Discussion is no longer the haven of intelligence and truly witty satire it used to be. IMO, it's actually worse than the Chatterbox, because at least in the Chatterbox you expect some level of idiocy.
As yet another mod, I would like to shamelessly promote this guild you're already a part of and say, "Post it here! Post it here! We'll have fun with it! Post it here!"

Actually, that's why I like the General Discussion better. People there are a bit idiotic sometimes, but at least they're open minded and don't have an arrogance contest. >___<
But yeah, I've always wondered what Jesus was like as a kid. I can't imagine he was a little cherub. I mean, EVERYONE messes up some way or another, and Jesus was part human. Funny how people always ignore that last part. He was part human his whole life, which meant he most likely caused mischief with his powers (if he really had any) before getting serious about it.

someone told me that the reason some of the gnostic texts weren't cannonized was because they protraited Jeus more human-like.

ScarredImage I did explain. She automatically apologized and asked to be friends but it made me think about how so many people jump to conclusions about other people before getting to know them. How many of you are Wiccans and when you say that people think "Oh my gosh! A witch! May the power of Christ compel you for you are evil-thinking!"? One of my best friends converted from Buddhist, to Christianity, to Wiccan (no clue what she is now, I just call her a trend-religionist/drifter) and she's an awesome person. Her views on politics and such are always well-backed, she's a very good listener, tries to keep her life clean but everyone thought she was some Satan worshipper (note: these people were definitely not educated in what religions believe what) and that what she believed was automatically condemning her to be a "bad person" just because it was different than their beliefs. We need more religious tolerance in the world crying HERE HERE!

Hee hee hee...Jesus teenager...Has anyone here read "Lamb?" It's the gospel according to Biff, Jesus's childhoor friend, who the angel Raziel raises from death in the 20th century to rewrite the Bible....It is VERY FUNNY. And, if you are christian and can't handle a bit of humor, I would not read it... I personally highly respect the Christian faith and I personnaly believe in the teaching of Jesus. However, I very much enjoyed this book which explores the life of Jesus in his teen years...But seriously, think before reaking it. I'm sure it's on the banned book list...

That is sad. Very sad.
I've watched people flame other people for posting about Jesus. It's just horrible, how against Christianity people are today. I love that religion. I'm not part of it, but I love it. *sigh*
The world stinks.

That Christian went WAY across the line. I'm Christian and true it is weird you have such thoughts but in no way wrong. The Bible says Jesus was perfect but had the temtations of man and went through all of what man would go through in his life. Thus he'd have the temptation to tell his parents he wasn't going to clean his room or to jack-off but he turned away from it because he was perfect. ^.^; there thats more of the Christian response you may have wated.... sweatdrop

chessiejo it was an interesting question.. what was he like as a teen? all we know is that he ignored his parents in order to stay on vacation in Jerusalem (which i always admored' it seems spunky). otherwise we just have stuff from thoimas that seems so fake and make-believe, such as hoiw he built birds of clay and brought them to life. puh- leeezenot to be rude but I think that story in the Bible was to show you can get in trouble with your parents and still be a good Christian (a.k.a not sinning ) because there is a place in the Bible that says to obey your parents as long as they don't go against His word etc etc. now Jesus's parents didn't realy tell Him to come they simply forgot about Him and didn't know were He was and were worried He did get a little lecture from them because they were scared they'd lost Him but He simply replied "didn't you know I'd be in my Fathers house?" ^.^

I'm not christian but I still think that's ridiculous. She has no right to dictate what you may wonder about Jesus.

Kalorn someone told me that the reason some of the gnostic texts weren't cannonized was because they protraited Jeus more human-like. Some of them. You might want to read some Gnostic scripture if you get a chance; there's some really wierd stuff out there. Everything from the Gospel of Thomas, where we get a Jesus whose actions, were he not the Son of God, could only be called spiteful, to certain non-Christian Gnostic works. If you do check out Gnostic scripture, also try Stranger in a Strange Land by Heinlein(?). I read Stranger in a Strange Land first, and the concepts of "grokking" and "Thou art Christ" are lifted wholesale from Gnosticism. The point of Gnosticism was to transcend the material plane through knowledge, the sort of complete knowledge that in a way makes you a part of the thing you now know about. (Which is the point of "thou art Christ;" a non-heretical Christian would say "I am a Christian," whereas a Gnostic, attempting to reach that level of understanding about Jesus and his teachings, would say "I am Christ." Not trying to insult Jesus, just practicing their version.) Anyway. (kicks the soapbox away) I just realized I should probably wait, rather than charge in and start posting off-topic like this before my membership has even been approved....

honestly i find that the reason that there are so many followers of religions the world over that don't really realize the teachings of that religion is caused by the fact that they have had that religion shoved down their throat all their life. (also the reason people stop practicing or following) the religious teachings aren't delivered correctly or are filtered by simmilar attitudes of those instructing. it's unfortunate but it's how things go.
