Victor's Arrival

Rachel Collison
Rachel walked out onto the tarmac with her large rollerbag dragging behind her and her purse strung over her shoulder. She followed reluctantly after the airport employee who was taking her to the helicopter that would take her to her perceived imprisonment. It stood a ways out on the tarmac, and she only gave a brief glance at the surly pilot, before dragging herself and her luggage inside. Plopping down in a seat, Rachel crossed her arms and frowned at the injustice that was being done to her.

Her parents had sent her here after being told that she was once again exhibiting anorexic behavior. Their doctor had informed them of a medical study being conducted on an island outside the country, where Rachel would recieve medication and counciling that would hopefully reduce or eliminate her anorexic behaviors. Rachel had of course immediately objected, believing that she wasn't as bad off as they were making her out to be, but her parents ignored her pleas to remain where she was. They signed all the consent forms and waivers that had been thrown at them, and now a week later, here she was.

It had taken her a full day to fly across the country to Florida, and now there was another leg to complete, and Rachel was anxious to get to a point where she could at least settle down and sulk in peace, if she wasn't going to be going home. She glanced at the pilot a few minutes later, and spoke impatiently.

"Are we going anytime soon, or are we going to sit here forever?"

James Brodstrom
The rather large, intimidating helicopter pilot who up to this point had been silent turned and gave Rachel an annoyed look. She'd disturbed the silence between him and the passengers he was so fond of. "We are waiting for one other person Ma'am."

Victor Zimmerman
Victor shielded his eyes against the sun as he walked out onto the Tarmac and looked towards the helicopter that he had been directed to by an airport employee. He reshouldered his backpack of things, carrying his dufflebag in one hand as he headed towards the helicopter that he had been told would take him away to an island to finish out his internship, with higher pay, which was something Victor couldn't turn down due to certain financial circimstances caused by some identity thief out in cyberspace.

Victor smiled as he pushed his bags into the helicopter, and took his seat.
"Hello" Victor said to both Rachel and James. Victor was slightly surprised at how thin Rachel was, he had been told by someone at Feral Labs that he'd be traveling with a psychology patient, who was going to the island to be treated for anorexia.

The helicopter door shut and started to take off.

Rachel Collison
Rachel raised a surprised eyesbrow at the pilot when he told her that someone else was coming, but didn't comment. Another girl like herself, committed to a life of imprisonment and doctors because their parents thought they had a problem? She didn't have to wait long to find out, as a few minutes later Victor climbed into the helicopter.

The darkhaired girl simply nodded in response to his greeting, and ignored his surprised look, having been used to such looks for a while. Once he was seated, she moved to buckle herself in, having to tighten the straps considerably from the seat's previous occupant before they fit her correctly.

As the helicopter took off, she rubbed her hands together nervously, having never flown in one before. To take her mind off of the motion, she turned her head slightly to look at the other passenger out of the corner of her eye. Well he certainly didn't look like someone whos parents would send away. In fact, he looked several years older than herself and probably didn't deal with the whims of his parents anymore. Curiosity poked at her to ask him what "he was in for," but her anti-social side won out and she looked away again.

James Brodstrom
As the uncomfortable silence continued the helicopter headed towards the island. It took a few hours to make the trip, during which James was as silent as ever.

The island came into view, the tall mansion that was visible in the mountain peeks and the buildings poking out below it. The helicopter approached the jungle and landed in the helipad at a bit of distance.

As it set down, a red headed man was waiting out there. He had two other men next to him and they were all waiting near a jeep.

Victor Zimmerman
Victor unblucked his seatbelt once the helicopter had touched down and the door had been opened up. Personally he was glad the flight was over, deciding to silently look out the window rather engage in conversation.

He got out of the helicopter and grabbed his bags, admiring the view of the island and the tall mansion on the mountain, and couldn't imagine a better place to spend his internship

Rachel Collison

Rachel had ended up taking a nap for the majority of the flight, having decided that since the other passenger wasn't going to make conversation and she certainly wasn't going to, that she might as well rest. When she woke up, the island was just coming into view, and she watched intently as it got closer, wanting to know the nature of the place she would be staying. Well...at least it didn't look too bad, with beaches and all. She saw the mansion and her eyes opened wide. Was that where she was going to be staying?!?

As they landed she saw the three men on the platform, one standing out with his bright red hair. She watched them curiously, dropping her bag on the ground, before hopping out herself. Giving one last glance at the pilot, Rachel picked up her bag and slowly made her way over to the trio after the man who had traveled with her, not sure what to expect.

Doctor Moreau

Moreau looked around anxiously. He had been... more cautious since the incident with Dr. Frost. He nodded his head and attempted to put on a smile for the two. Still, his intimdating guards were supposed to be watching for any signs of Annie.

"Welcome to my Island. I am Dr. Moreau, CEO of Feral Labs, if you'll please get in my jeep, I'll take you to the laboratories to get things such as immunizations out of the way." Moreau nodded his head and beconned to the jeep.

Victor Zimmerman

Victor put his things in the jeep, and looked between the guards and then to Dr.Moreau, it seemed to him that they were looking out for something or someone, but Victor smiled anyway and offered Dr. Moreau his hand
"Pleasure to meet you Dr.Moreau" Victor wondered to himself what the immunizations were for but didn't ask, he imagined they were for a good reason

Rachel Collison

Rachel was rather surprised that the man greeting them was the CEO. She figured that he would have better things to do than to greet a patient and...well whoever the other guy was. It didn't seem like he was here for the same reasons....

Her attention going back to the CEO, she registered that he had introduced himself as Doctor Moreau, which made him the enemy. He was the person heading the operation that had dragged her here. Getting back into her silently rebellious mood, Rachel gave him an appropriately glowering look, before climbing into the jeep and crossing her arms again to show that she wasn't happy about this whole situation.

The talk of immunizations didn't bother her. She figured she needed some kind of booster shot anyways, as she hadn't had one in several years, that she could recall.

Doctor Moreau

Moreau pretended not to notice the hand, as he walked around to the driver's seat. He waited for the intern to get in the jeep with a bit of a smirk on his face. The jeep signicantly more crowded than normal with the two guards and two subjects.

Victor Zimmerman

Victor took his hand back and quietly got into the crowed jeep beside Rachel, wondering if Moreau hadn't seen his hand or ignored it, Either way, Victor wouldn't have been surprised, he was just an intern, and Dr.Moreau was the CEO of Feral labs, and some people liked to mess with interns.

Rachel Collison

Rachel scooted over as far as she could, to allow Victor a place to sit. She didn't like being crowded in cars, but there wasn't much choice and it would only be a little while. Finally feeling brave enough to address Moreau once they were all piled into the vehicle, she spoke to him from behind the driver's seat, where she was sitting.

"So what exactly are you guys going to do to me here, Doctor?" she asked irritibly

doctor Moreau

"We offer various benificial... projects." Moreau smiled in an attempt to be warm. "After all, if my company can't help people that need it, what good is it?"

Moreau turned on the jeep and began driving towards the labs. Even as the jeep darted down the windy roads that made the path between the helipad, and the laboratories.

Victor Zimmerman

Victor looked from the passing jungle up to the driver's seat and their red-haired host. "So where will be be staying? I saw some smaller buildings below your mansion there, looks like you practicly have a small village built"

Rachel Collison

"Hmph..." was all Rachel had to say in response to Moreau's comment as they drove off. Even if he was going to be friendly, she was not going to allow herself to warm up to him. She didn't want to be here and damnit, she was going to let them know that with every chance she got.

The breeze from the open-topped jeep blew a few loose strands of hair around her face, making her grateful that the rest of her hair was secured in a braid. Her eyes watched the scenery as it passed, thinking how different it was from the Pacific Northwest, where she had been raised. There were just as many trees, and from the look of it, just as much rain. The warm, heavy air was strange to her though, used to only a little bit of weather like that in the summers, being the exception rather than the rule. Rachel hoped she wouldn't have to stay here that long, knowing she would miss the cooler climate she had lived in her entire life, esprecially the snow.

Hearing Victor ask his own question, Rachel snapped out of the thoughts of home, turning her head slightly to look at him. Smaller buildings? She hadn't seen them when they flew in, probably because she was too busy staring at the mansion. So they wouldn't be staying there then? That was one of the few things she had thought might actually be nice about coming here.

Dr.Moreau

"As an intern, and as a patient, yes you'll be staying there. It's a lot less stuffy than the lab dormatories and I find the sea breeze air is very invigorating." Moreau said as the jeep pulled up to the door.

He lead the two young people to the door, which opened as he approached and into the sterile, almost hospitalish lobby. Towards the elevator to the upper floors.

Victor Zimmerman

Victor liked the idea of living in a house structure by the ocean buch better than being in a dormatory, he knew how stuffy dorm rooms in college were, and he was glad he wouldn't be spending his internship on such a nice island in one.
He quietly followed Moreau to the elevator, figuring the doctor or someone else would go over the details of his internship once this immunization was over with

Rachel Collison

Ah, so that was her traveling companion's purpose here. He was to be an intern to the doctor. Not even someone who could sympathize with her then. With a sigh, Rachel climbed out of the jeep after the others. She glanced at her bag, wondering if she should take it, but seeing Victor walk off without his, she figured she didn't need it for the time being.

She adjusted her shirt, which had slipped, exposing her bony shoulder, as she walked into the building. Rachel wrinkled her nose as the hospitalish feel and smell reached her. She hated hospitals. After having spent a while in one during the first attempt at treatment, she was quite sick of them. Following the other two to the elevator, she was now glad that she wouldn't be spending much time in this building, or at least she hoped.

doctor Moreau

Moreau lead the two into the elevator. Once they were both inside, he spoke loudly "Floor 8" and the elevator began to rise on it's own. Most people found it interesting that it had no buttons like a typical elevator. What they weren't aware of is that it only responded to staff voices. This kept things more secure as it were.

Moreau waited as the elevator rose, smiling once it opened up into the short hallway that lead into the main lab area where he took care of serums. These two would make excellent test subjects for the new serums that had been developed.

Victor Zimmerman

Victor did notice that there were no buttons on the elevator door, and found it rather odd, but was amazed at the level of technology that was being used at this facility, Feral labs had spared no expense with this place.

"So how many people live on the island full time?"

Rachel Collison

Rachel leaned up against one of the elevator walls as it traveled upward, about to ask about the buttons, when Victor spoke. Shrugging inwardly, she figured the doctor wouldn't have answered her question anyways. She knew just as well as anyone that people liked having secrets. Shortly after Victor finished speaking they reached their destination and she stepped out of the elevator into the hallway, waiting for the doctor's response and for him to lead them where he wanted

Doctor Moreau

"Exact personale details are confidential. But we have a decent amount of capacities as our facilities grow." Moreau patted Victor lightly on the shoulder.

"Even so, welcome aboard. I'm sure you'll both enjoy your time here." Moreau motioned them to a set of lab tables. "If you don't mind sitting over there and pulling up your sleeve, I'll take care ofthis."

Victor Zimmerman

"Thanks Dr.Moreau" Victor moved over and sat on the lab table, rolling up his sleeve as asked. "how often does the Helicopter come back around incase we want to go to the mainland?"

Rachel Collison

"Right.....I'm positively ecstatic to be here," Rachel muttered under her breath sarcasticly, in response to Moreau's comment. She took her own sweet time to wander over to the other table, before rolling up her sleeve. This once again revealed her bony shoulder and showed what a truly dangerous state she was in, despite the way she saw herself.

Doctor Moreau

"Mainland visits are... rare. There is a bit of a backlog as well, so it could be some time." Moreau's injection of Victor was done and over in no time. With Rachel he had to be more careful. But after only a moment they both had their immunizations.

"I'll have your stuff sent down to your duplexes, I hope you'll enjoy your stay here. If you just head down that elevator you'll be escorted out." Moreau gave a small sly smile.

Victor Zimmerman

Victor winced as the needle was injected into him, but was glad it was over and done with as he rubbed his arm and got off the table, looking to the elevator and then back to Moreau.
"Well was nice meeting you then Dr.Moreau, hope to meet you again sometime." He knew he had to get his things unpacked, and was eager to explore the rest of the island as he waited a moment before heading to the elevator

Rachel Collison

Rachel chewed on her upper lip as she felt the pinch of the needle and it's contents starting to flow through her body. She breathed a small sigh of relief when it was over, hoping that was to be the extent of her medical dealings for the day. She was about to head to the elevator, before a question came to her and she turned to Moreau.

"So when can I expect you guys to start my 'treatment'?" she asked, with her arms crossed and a raised eyebrow. She wasn't looking forward to it, but damnit, they weren't going to surprise her with things; not if she could help it.

Dr.Moreau

"We'll give you a bit of time to adjust, a couple of weeks. Then we should begin treatment." Moreau smiled as he began to throw the needles into the proper biohazard bags.

"I'm sure you'll find your time here very plesent, atleast I hope you will." Moreau nodded. Eager to be done with the two, but doing his best to conceal that.

Victor Zimmerman

Victor looked between Rachel and Dr.Moreau, and nodded to what the doctor said, guessing that he'd have a few days before his internship started but it seemed to him that the doctor had other things he had to do. Victor got into the elevator and rubbed his arm again as he felt the 'immunization' spread though him from the injection point, making him feel...warm.

Rachel Collison

A couple of weeks? Rachel's hopes for an early return home were dashed with this statement. Nodding in acknowledgement, she sighed and followed Victor into the elevator, eager for the day to just be over. At least now she could be alone for a little while. Once the elevator reached the bottom, she walked with Victor from the building, to the jeep that would take them to their new homes.

Duplex 75

Victor got out of the jeep and grabbed his things, walking into his duplex and placing them on the bed. Before he could go back out and ask the jeep's driver a question, Victor watched though the open door the jeep speed off, heading back up towards the laboratories.
'Guess he's got somewhere to be' Victor mumbled to himself as he went about unpacking his things and putting them away, and arranging others around the room. Overall he was pleased with how large the duplex was, having been in smaller dorm rooms and had to share the space with a roommate, for Victor it was a vast improvement.
On the bureau was the duplex room key and a note, which read
'Welcome to the Island and Duplex 75! If you've got any questions, dial '0' on the intercom in your room to reach one of the other staff up at the labs'
Victor put the key in his pocket and fell down onto his bed, folding his hands in back of his head, looking up at the ceiling.
'Things are looking good.'
Victor thought to himself as he closed his eyes and soon fell asleep

First Impressions are everything
Victor goes down to the beach to relax, meets Chubbs and learns about the Island's true purpose

PostPosted: Thu Nov 16, 2006 8:41 am

Victor walked back into his Duplex quickly, shutting and locking the door behind him as he went and sat on the bed, resting his head on the palms of his hands, proping his elbows on his knees. This can't be happening...I just met a guy that was a bear, and told me I'd change into an animal too, that just can't a dream or hallucination can it? Victor thought to himself, recounting what Chubbs had told him, remembering him mentioning a couple names. Victor got up and pulled out a stickynote pad and a pen and jotted down a couple things.

~Sabin -rank b*****d, ((don't trust/talk to?))
~Aubrey- call on intercom

Hallucination or dream, or whatever, Victor was going to try and get ahold of someone that could tell him exactly what was going on.
Victor laid back on his bed and closed his eyes, deciding he'd had enough excitement for today, and could wait on having lunch till later

Meal time
Victor heads to the Caferteria and runs into Lauren

Lauren Granger

*********************

Lauren sat happily in the cafeteria eating her meal. Her plate contained fryed grubbs over scrambled eggs and she ate this very fast and contently. She sat in her wheel chair happy to be back to the village, to gain her freedom away from the labs.

Victor Zimmerman
Victor had skipped lunch and dinner yesterday after his run in with Chubbs, instead eating from the package of beef jerky that he had bought with him to the island. the next day, after failing to get ahold of anyone at the labs over the the intercom, he had to go out and find the caferteria, needing to get himself a real meal to eat.
After a short walk he found and went into the caferteria, noticing that there was only one other person there, and in a wheelchair, but with her back to him, he hadn't noticed her animalistic feature yet.
"Hey there" Victor said as he grabbed a tray and a plate, looking over the choices and putting some meatloaf and potato on his plate before walking over towards the other diner,

Lauren Granger
Lauren's hoodie was covering most of her animalistic features, except for her obvious black nose and orange horizontally slitted eyes. While the fur on her face was starting to grow back it had been gone.

She didn't notice Victor comming so was a little startled to hear a voice in the room. She had been in her own little dream world so didn't notice the scent of human in the air.

Lauren turned around, a bit disapointed this person was human, "Oh..hey" She said back. She hoped not to have to give him the talk.

Victor Zimmerman
Victor stopped for a moment, a little surprised to see that the other person was mostly hidden under the hoodie, he was still a short distance away, and couldn't see the black nose or orange eyes.
Victor looked around the caferteria a moment before focusing on Lauren again
"mind if i join you?"

Lauren Granger
Lauren gave the human a mischevious smile, "Go right ahead." She answered. The girl was so unpredictable in the first impressions she gave, some people she was friendly to right off the bat, others she batted their brains around like a play toy. Cat and mouse was Lauren's favorite psychological game.

But at this point in time she wasn't feeling the mental strength required in playing with minds. Friendliness was the easiest thing for her to do, as that was the mongooses way. Make friends, have a society to take over the prey and fight off predators.

She looked Victor over, "So, you're new here?" She asked popping a greasy grub into her mouth.

Victor Zimmerman
Victor smiled a little, putting his tray down and taking a seat across from Lauren, watching as she popped a grub into her mouth.
What's that she's eating? was that a bug? It reminded Victor of Chubbs eating the fish when they first ran into each other.
"Yeah..got here a couple days ago...it's been an interesting experiance so far"
Victor said as he looked Lauren over a bit more, noticing the orange eyes hidden in that hoodie. "I'm Victor by the way"

Lauren Granger
Lauren's eyes widened, "Just a couple days ago! Well you've still got a lot of human time left. Enjoy it while it last." She said grimly.

She took another bite, "I'm Lauren." She replied. Lauren didn't really know how to carry on the conversation. She hoped Victor had something to add. Maybe it was easier to be cruel to people. Pleasantries didn't come easily and were very dull.

Victor Zimmerman
Victor nodded "Thats what I heard, I ran into a fellow named Chubbs at the beach yesterday." Victor still wasn't sure about it, it still seemed an impossible thing to get turned into an animal.
"How long before it starts?"

Lauren Granger
Lauren shrugged, "A couple of weeks, maybe longer for some. You seem to be taking it alright." She looked at him a bit puzzled. Usually people would be very angry or very sad about the whole thing. Maybe this guy didn't believe the whole thing. "It took over a month for my first change"

Victor Zimmerman
Victor nodded and sighed, taking his fork and poking at his food with it, he really wasn't sure what to think about this whole thing, not fully believing it could happen to him.
"Well, yesterday I almost thought I was going to be eaten by a Bear that actually was a guy...that took alot out of me" Victor took a bite from his food
"they told me I was going to work as an intern... I'm guessing they probably lied to you as well?"

Lauren Granger
Lauren smiled, "Not really. I knew I would be comming here to be experimented on. I just wanted off the streets at first. But they were pretty straight about everything after that"

She took another bite of grub and eggs, "Maybe you could still be an intern? I mean just because your changing into an animal doesn't mean you can't study under them. I'm being taught by Moreau." She smiled at Victor. Maybe he would be up for that idea, the labs could use another person that was pro Moreau.

Victor Zimmerman
Victor raised an eyebrow at that, but shook his head "I'm not sure about that, not being able to leave the island and being experimented on doesn't do well for me" Victor ate some more of his food, looking back at Lauren
"Why are you wearing the hood?"

Lauren Granger
Lauren darted a hard glance at Victor, "Why? I can't wear my hoodie inside? Didn't know that was abnormal or anything." She didn't want to give away her ailments away, especially not to some newbie she didn't know.

Victor Zimmerman
Victor blinked, he didn't mean to upset Lauren like that. "No, I didn't say it was abnormal or anything, just thought it was odd to be wearing one on a tropical island and all"

Lauren Granger
Lauren shrugged, "I geuss I'm just warm blooded." She lied. "Must be because I'm a ******** stick. Always been that way no matter how much I eat." She scarfed down the rest of her meal.

"Nice meeting you Victor but I'm really exhausted." And she did look it. Doing much of anything was exhausting to the mongoose girl. "See ya around." She turned to wheel away back to Nita's duplex. Right now she hated living alone for fear of falling back into a coma alone.

Victor Zimmerman
"See you around Lauren" Victor said and would have offered to help push her wheelchair but she had already turned around and started off. Victor watched her go, hoping he didn't touch a nerve with Lauren.

Victor looked towards the caferteria door once again before turning his attention back to his meal, taking his time, which on this island apparently he had plenty of.

Private Musings

Victor found himself back in his Duplex some time after meeting Alec, on his bed and staring at the ceiling, he couldn't find any peace, it was too early to sleep, his mind was too unsettled to read, and couldn't find the modivation to go to to the entertainment room and find a decent movie to watch.
Am I going to end up like Alec? stuck in a wheelchair while changing into some animal? how can that be possible, and how could this happen to me?
Victor placed his hands over his eyes, trying to clear his head, he could remember back at the hospital he was at people with legs maimed in car accidents, people with part of an arm missing, or people paralysed from the neck down, the general rule was not to stare, but sometimes it couldn't be helped. And what was happening now, on this island to everyone was worse than anything else he had seen or could imagine could happen to him.

Victor was afraid, he always had dreaded disfigurement and painful injures... and this was something that took much more away than just one's dignity.

they were taking people's Humanity.

And that was what frightened Victor the most.

Victor would be awake long into the night, dwelling on this
PostPosted: Wed Nov 29, 2006 6:19 pm

You're awoken in the middle of the night sick. Vomiting, sweating, light-headedness, and chills. It keeps you awake for hours, despite feeling abnormally tired. But everytime you nod off, you throw up again, and the whole process repeats itself.

You feel much better as the sun comes out or you take a hot shower. You may notice an itchy red mark on your arm, but otherwise during the day, especially when outside, you feel fairly okay.

But when you go indoors, especially that night, you start feeling sick again. Any food left in your stomach feels like a rock sitting in your abdomen until you finally expel it from your system. You get tired and cranky, but have little motivation to move. In the darkest part of the night, you can hardly motivate yourself to go to the bathroom, even when you know you're going to be sick.

The cycle starts over again the next day. Once the sun comes up and begins to heat the sand and pavement of the village, you're feeling mostly yourself. It isn't until later that afternoon you feel strange again.

At first, you just assume it’s the night sickness again, but it's not. You don't sweat, don't feel light-headed, and the pain in your stomach is not the nauseated -woozy pain, it’s the someone-just-sucker-punched-you pain.

Bending over in pain, you would notice your feet and hands always hurt, like someone slammed hammers down on them. Your skin puckers and begins a blister-like process as it hardens and settles into scales. The throbbing pain in your hands and feet hurts so bad that it makes it impossible to walk. Helpless on the ground, your feet like you explode. In a mere matter of minutes the front of your face cracks and shoots outwards, scales forming over what would be exposed bone, but the growth is faster than the scales, causing blood to leak out between the new scales, over your face and the front of your shirt.

A tail bursts out from your rear, the coccyx unfusing and expanding. Your jaw aches, expands, and over the course of the next week, a few teeth fall out everyday to make way for small, new pointed ones.

Your feet and fingers stretch, pop, and swell. Eventually the swelling goes down to reveal reptilian claws, but for several days they are so sore and swollen you fear they may be broken - it hurts to move them.

It Begins- Sickness in the Night

When Victor woke up the first thing he became aware of was that he, and the bed's sheets were soaked in sweat, he was cold...and he could feel a deep swelling nausea rising in his guts, the taste of bile already on his tongue.

Victor pushed himself out of bed, moving towards the bathroom, staggering along the way, too lightheaded to move straight as he hit his shoulder on the bathroom's doorframe, falling down on his knees in front of the open toliet, just as his stomach forcefully emptied its contents into the porcelain bowl. Once, then again, forcing Victor to take deep gulping breaths as he continued to dry heave over the toliet bowl, with nothing left to vomit.
He flushed the toliet, feeling abnormally exhausted, pulling a blanket out from the closet and wrapping it around him, feeling himself shake with cold chills. He sat down in the chair near the bed, not wanting to change the sheets this late at night, or was it early in the morning? It didn't matter to him, Victor couldn't remember the last time he had been this sick, it was like a horrible case of the flu.
Victor had started to nod off in the chair when he was woken back up as he felt his stomach heave again, catching the bile in his mouth as he rushed back to the bathroom, sending what little was in his stomach into the toliet again, his throat beginning to hurt from the effort.

Victor spent most of the night continuing the cycle, ending up having to sit on the bathroom floor his back to the bathtub/shower, as whenever he would start to fall asleep, he would be awoken to the violent need to vomit.
Victor wasn't sure how long this went on, the cold sweat, chills, and the lightheadedness all contributing to make him feel disorientated, eventually, Victor drifted off into a halfway point between being asleep, and being awake.

Later that morning, the sun had risen above the trees to shine though his window and illuminate the interior of the duplex, eventually becoming bright enough to cause Victor to stir and wake up from the light restless sleep he had fallen into. Victor groaned, the toilet stank of vomit and bile, he was quietly glad he managed to get most of it into the porcelain bowl, some drying on the rim, but thankfully none on himself or the floor. Victor sat up and flushed the toilet, he felt only marginally better now, but believed (and hoped) the worse was over for now and that it was a bad stomach flu he had gotten, not something worse.
But Victor didn’t want to dwell on that, what little clothes he had on now clung to his sweat soaked body; he needed a shower.

A few minutes later, he had thrown his clothes into a basket in the closet, and stepped into the shower. Victor felt almost instantly better with the shower’s hot water running over him, the lightheadedness had passed, and so had the nausea, but the pain in his throat, from his throat muscles clenching and working to vomit his stomach contents out.
Victor was in the shower a long time, just letting the warm water run over his head and back, allowing himself to relax…
Victor’s head snaps back up, he had dozed off in the shower, and for a moment Victor wasn’t sure how long he might have been asleep or how long he had been in the shower, but decided he had been in there long enough. He reluctantly turned off and got out of the shower, drying himself off and throwing on some clean clothes.

Victor never even noticed the red needle mark on his arm.

By then the sun had helped warm up the interior of the duplex, but not greatly, unbeknownst to Victor, the lower temperature in the duplex was causing the feeling of sickness to return; However all Victor thought he needed was to get out and get some fresh air, and something to eat. He also wanted to try and get some Advil, maybe something else to help beat this flu or whatever it was.

Victor headed to the cafeteria, the warmth from the sun helped to make feel better, but not completely at ease.

Victor eventually made it back to his duplex after meeting the cheetah- girl Colche, and not a moment too soon, Victor's light lunch now felt like a heavy rock deep in his stomach, and as it got cooler in his room, Victor was starting to feel unwell.

Victor groaned, he didn't want to feel sick, he wanted this to to be over with. He flicked on the bathroom light and sat down next to the toliet, feeling the familar feeling of his gag reflex kick in. He leaned over the bowl, and let his stomach's contents out. Almost immedately afterwards, Victor felt unusally tired, and he leaned against the shower-bathtub, looking up towards the ceiling and closing his eyes, what he really wanted right then was a blanket to wrap himself up in, to keep himself warm, but Victor couldn't find modivation to get up, hardly able to move.

but Victor managed to pull his legs up against his chest, and rested his head on his knees, it was going to be another long and terrible night

Recovery

Victor wakes back up in his duplex, mostly unaware of the time he had to spend in the labs, and has to deal with the changes he's undergone.

It was the light from the early afternoon sun that caused Victor to wake up.
He felt groggy, he had been sleeping on his back in the bed for a long time covered by the bedsheets and with the hot tropical sun Victor had just started to become more active.
Victor tried to cover his face with his hands to block out the sun, but quickly found out that was a mistake, instead of covering his eyes, his claw tipped fingers hit into his new snout, causing a fresh bout of pain. If it had been anything more than a casual motion, the claws would have cut into his scale-covered snout.

With a moan he sat up, carefully moving his hands out in front of him, examining the claws, and the black-white scales that had started to develop on his arms. While Victor was frightened by these alien features that had formed, but at the same time, he was morbidly fascinated, Victor stared at his hands until he realized they had started shaking.

Slowly, things started to come back to Victor, he remembered going out of his duplex that faithful morning, feeling like he’d been sucker-punched in the stomach, of seeing the dragon-man, and the pain…and changing, but not much after that.
Victor was confused, he knew something happened, did he pass out? He must have, but if he did, how he end up back here? Did the dragon-man bring him back? How could the dragon-guy know which duplex he was in?

Victor held his head in his hands, he didn’t know how he got back to his duplex, he only had faint and vague images in his mind, like a half-forgotten dream:
He had been in a white room, people in white coats were around him, he had bandages on his face, there was an IV in his arm, he was in a hospital bed, he couldn’t move, he tried to, someone in a white coat stuck a needle in the IV drip, and he fell back asleep
Was it just a dream? How long had he been asleep? What had happened to him?
Questions, questions, questions, questions, questions, Victor had so many and he didn’t know if they could be answered.

Victor slid out of bed and almost fell down when he went to walk, his balance was off and he could see why, his feet were longer, the toes stretched out and capped with large claws, just like his fingers. And he had a tail.
The tail was a bit more alarming for Victor to find, the shorts he had been wearing had been split during his change, and seemed surreal that it was a part of him. Victor reached in back of him to feel it, pulling his hand back when it twitched unexpectedly, and he felt it move, it was a new and strange sensation. Victor couldn’t move it on his own, it occasionally shifted from side to side while he looked at it. He didn’t watch for very long though, it only reminded him more of how far he had changed, how much less human he had become.

After a few practice steps Victor felt confident enough to walk without worrying about falling down, but still moving cautiously, he moved into the bathroom and looked in bathroom mirror.

It was looking at a stranger, but it still was his face. Victor carefully felt over his face with his hands, noticing for the first time that his teeth had changed as well, into small, sharp and pointed ones; He was unaware that his original teeth had fallen out while he was in the labs. After nearly a half hour of just studying his scaled, changed and altered face in the mirror, Victor had enough. He didn’t want to see anymore, he didn’t want his face, his body to be like this, even when he knew he couldn’t do anything to reverse these changes now.

The changed lizard-man walked back to his bed, laying down on his side, only wanting to sleep, but sleep wouldn’t come.

Outside the door

Victor goes outside, and finds a surprise

Cody Archer
In front of the door of your duplex lies a small gift wrapped in regular paper by a string. There are some words scribbled with ordinary pen, saying:

"Merry Xmas. From Cody"

The gift

((Cody doesn't remember the number of most of the duplexes his friends live in, so he painted gifts for everyone))

Victor had opened the door to his duplex one morning, to let some fresh air in, and was surprised to see a small object outside his duplex, a small paper-wrapped object held together by string.
The lizard-man was confused, and looked it over, he didn't know many people, and he knew he hadn't met anyone named Cody. but the thing that struck Victor the most was that it said 'merry X-mas' It was christmas already? Victor was surprised that time passed so quickly, and set the small
present on the desk and carefully sat down, He already has had an incident or two where he sat down too fast and on his tail the wrong way.

Victor used his claws to pull the string away, and unfold the paper wrapping, and smiled at seeing the painted shell. It was a simple and small gift, but it was enough to lift his spirits a little.

the lizardman set the shell next to his laptop, making a mental note to go and thank Cody sometime
