Peace on Earth is one of my favorite songs. Can there really be peace on earth? The song makes me think about this idea that is virtually unachievable in our society. If it weren't for greed, power, revenge or human nature in general, would this idea be attainable?

1+4+9=14 Yes, I figured that out on my own.

Now, I heard this from my friend Al. Is it true that the band is named after a spy-plane that is called U2?

[Head Like a Hole] Now, I heard this from my friend Al. Is it true that the band is named after a spy-plane that is called U2? I think they are called that because of the audience or something. You know like "you too" are part of the show.

the name u2 was actually created at the last minute when their Boy (or their first single, which i believe was Twilight Three EP) Cd cover had to have their name on it.

U2 used to call themselves "Feedback" as the band often joked that they were so bad, the only thing you'd hear from the amps was feedback (that horrible beeeeeeeeeeeeeeep sound).
And although I'm not sure WHY they picked U2, it IS the name of a famous spyplane, I believe the first to be able to fly above radar? I'm not too sure about that last bit though. smile

The name U2 was suggested to the band by a DJ named Dave Fanning. He gave U2 much support in their early days when they were called "Feedback" and "The Hype". (I believe), they had a call in poll on Irish Radio suggesting names, and U2 won. It sounded kind of mysterious, kind of the military thing with the spyplane, and then the whole "You Too" thing. But Bono has gone on to say in later days, the name really stinks in their opinion, but they're labelled with it now!
I like the name myself.

Pride(in the name of love) is about Martin Luther King Jr. Sunday Bloody Sunday is about wild acts of terrorism in Northern Ireland back in the early 1980's.
