Gaius blinked, the reference flying right over his head. "Nah, not Superman, though that wouldn't be a bad idea... er, well, if tights weren't a bit, uh, problematic," he coughed lightly and looked away briefly in embarassment. "I'm going as a knight! Armor, sword, all that good stuff. Plastic, of course, but still! If the labs are providing it, why not go for something good, huh?" he grinned.

"A knight, huh? Yeah, that sounds like you alright." Marshall smirked, pushing the door to the Arcade open, greeted with the loud noises and bright lights of the machines. Still empty, of course. It usually was, any way.
"So...You have ANY idea how to play any of these or am I just picking on you?"

"Uhhhh..." Gaius looked around at the room of beeping and flashing box-like machines, all flashing different images on their TV-screens. He looked utterly lost. "...Is there Pac-man?"

Marshall couldn't help but laugh at Gaius' bafflement. He patted his freind on the shoulder, "Well my freind, I'll just have to teach ya. Now lets see...Whats good for a Noob such as yourself..." he murmered, inspecting the arcade, before seeing a familiar dragon-symbol.
"Perfect!" He said, leading Gaius to the Mortal Kombat, "Its quick, its easy, its gory!"

Gaius was pushed forward reluctantly, looking uneasy about the whole thing. "Noob? What?"
The bright text over the top of the box loomed over him as a pair of pixelated figures duked it out on screen, jumping this way and that and performing feats that were well beyond physically possible. His eyes traveled down to the controls - a hopeless looking mess of buttons and joysticks. He began to reach forward, but hesitated, brows furrowed. "Er, how do you play...?"

"Don't worry, its really easy! You hit the green button to punch, the red one the kick, and blue one to block. You move your character around with this thingy," he said, moving the joystick, "and when the screen says 'Finish Him'? You push on all three buttons at once. 'Kay?" Marshall demonstrated, using the palm of his hand to press all three at the same time.

"Uh, right..." He nodded slowly, taking the controls beside Marshall. "Sounds easy enough. Green punch, blue kick... Er, wait..."
He tentatively pushed at one of the buttons, resulting in nothing as the game wasn't playing yet. He smiled sheepishly and shrugged. "Ah well, nothing like a trial by fire to learn, huh?"

...Why do I feel like I'm a bully or some thing?!
"Red kick, blue block, green punch. All three to Finish. Are you following?" Marshall said, much slower. He was now starting to wonder if perhaps Liamh would've been a better choice.
"We can try some thing easier if you want." Marshall said, feeling slightly bad now for some reason.

"No! It's okay!" Gaius gripped the joystick determinedly and forced a confident smile. He didn't want Marshall to think him a whimp. "It's just a game, after all. Kids can play it fine, right? So it shouldn't be too hard to get the hang of!"

"Y'know I'm gonna get a complex if every one keeps seein' me as a kid." Marshall sighed, pressing the Two Player start button on the consol.
"Okay, so...Just highlight who you want and press the blue button." Marshall further explained, as he picked out some generic Chinese guy with a large-brimmed hat.

"Okay..." It took a bit of trying, but Gaius finally navigated his selection to what looked to be a masked ninja of some sort. Ninjas were good, right? Gaius selected him.
Adrenaline started to course through his system. It was almost scary in a way. He'd seen friends play games like these, but had never participated before. His grip tightened. He'd show Marshall what he had!

Marshall, however, was much calmer about the situation. Perhaps it was because he didn't really want to be competitive with Gaius. Or maybe because deep-down, he just considered this a 'kids game', as morbid as that was.
"ROUND 1, FIGHT!" screamed the announcer voice, as the Ninja and Chinese Man appeared in some old Tibetian Temple or some thing.
"Want me to go easy on ya?" Marshall asked Gaius before they started.

"Easy? What do you think I am, a girl?" he snorted. "Take THAT!" A bit of fancy joystick jiggling and button mashing sent the ninja-man leaping forward and performing an impressive high kick... in the opposite direction of Marshall's fighter. "What?! Dangit!" He pounded the buttons harder, because obviously that would get it to respond faster, right?

Marshall smirked, "Heh heh...Okay, you asked for it..." Marshall said, jamming on the buttons like he was playing the Piano. Soon, his characted had grappled Gaius' Ninja, thrown him across the screen, jumped on him, and proceeded to pile-drive him. Then, with a few more buttons, a large Arcade Machine (a little known joke that was surprisingly easy to pull off) came crashing down on Gaius' poor Ninja. And just like that, Marshall had completed the first round with a "Perfect".
"...You SURE you don't want me to go easy on you?"

Gaius was in full-on war mode now, poised over the controls and throttling the joystick. "Never! Again! I can get this!"
He picked the ninja again and the two appeared once more on a detailed battle stage.
Three rounds of Marshall achieving 'Perfect!' later...
Gaius was still going strong, despite his obvious lack of skill in the area of fighter games and Marshall's superiority as a combatant. At least his movements had gotten a bit more controlled, though he relied heavily on the art of button-mashing.
The ninja hopped over beside the Chinese fighter and somehow, by shear luck, landed him with a kick. Gaius's eyes shot wide. "WHOO! I hit him!"
And then the ninja died. Again. "Aww..." Gaius frowned, but instantly cheered up again. "But I got a shot in! Ha!"
