Logan blinked as Echo rushed over to him, she snuggled against him and he returned it, nuzzling her muzzle, licking her ears softly and gently, trying to calm her. Why did she seem so nervous? What had he done wrong? The snuggle gave him the idea that he didn't do something wrong, something else was wrong.
What was going on?
His ears twitched sideways and listened to the sentence Echo had created from his own words. He tilted his head at first, trying to piece them together, him and the pups? Croanyl and the pups? He would never let Croanyl get within feet of the pups, let alone Echo.
He...he...he hurt her?
No.
His eyes grew wide for a moment, ears flattening against his skull. Croanyl, he hurt her before, she was... the pups weren't...he felt his heart breaking into tiny pieces. They weren't his? He closed his eyes and pulled away from Echo, turned around so she wouldn't see him cry. Tears flowed from his eyes he felt like he was being suffocated on the inside, like he was dying somehow.
He flopped onto the ground, put his paws over his eyes, he felt so guilty, he hadn't protected her, everything he had tried to do, everything he tried to prevent was in vein. He just didn't want her to see him cry.
"I-I'm sorry Echo...I'm so sorry..." he loved her so much, he felt as if he had failed the only one that even gave a damn he was alive. He had failed her.

Echo lowered her head incredibly low as her mate turned away from her. She hadn't seen him begin to cry, and so she thought that he was turning away from her and not the fact that Croanyl was the father. It was her fault. She had let this all happen. If she had just stayed at the den that one morning and hadn't wandered off... maybe this all wouldn't have happened.
Standing still, her fur being brushed by the ocean's breeze, she felt her heart being torn into a million pieces. Life had been so wonderful before all of this, before that horrid wolf had come and kidnapped her.
As he said that he was sorry, she lifted her head slightly and looked at him. Frowning, she padded quietly over to his side, hesitating slightly. She wanted to snuggle with him, to just feel him curled protectively around her. But she didn't know if it would help any. This was such a delicate situation.
Shaking her head, she whined. "Echo... Echo sorry," she said quietly. This was all her fault. And how to break the news to her sister? Oh no... Ophelia would have hated it if Logan was the father... how would she respond to a completely random wolf being the father? Hit with this sudden realization, the female looked horrified. Her eyes widened and she backed up slightly.
"Echo sorry," she repeated, though this time it looked like she wasn't really talking to him.
Her life had taken a turn for the worst.

Logan peered up at his mate, his love and his eyes softened a little bit. He stood up and padded over to ehr slowly, and curled around her trying to comfrot her. Feeling her close had his mind calm down a few bars, he was still torn up into pieces on the inside, blaming himself for everything. But he loved her, he would never leave her, ever. Even if this was to happen.
"It's alright Echo, it'll be alright," he said gently in his rough voice, nuzzling her cheek gently, affectionately, trying to have her be at peace with him now.
"No matter what happens, I'll be here, I love you Echo, I'll never leave you, ever....I'll take care of you, I promise," her curled his tail with hers and growled low in his throat, an affectionate growl to show he was not upset like he was before. He'd never leave her, ever.
But now he would have to get things ready, Echo was with pups, he'd have to make the den suitable.

As her mate curled around her, Echo found all of her worries vanishing within a matter of seconds. Everything seemed to get better when he was there, curled around her and keeping her warm, safe, protected. She loved him so much, and she couldn't believe that she had found such a wolf to spend her life with. It was a shame he couldn't have been the father...
Making herself forget about her pregnancy for the moment, the wolfess nuzzled herself into Logan, her tail intertwining with his.
"I love you," she whispered, using his previous words to express what she was feeling. It would have been better if she hadn't had this curse though. She frowned for a moment, but then licked his cheek and made herself forget all of her worries.
"I love you.." Everything would be okay.
