Okay, this is a really simple design (I don't have the time right no to make it flash). I had a few mins. to myself and came up with this format. (which is most likely to change) This is also done on Adobe photoshop, like I said, only had a few mins. My thought process was to get this done, not make is pretty. I was thinking that everyone could find a SMALL picture to represent them. Like for me a pentagram since I'm the Pentagram Alchemist. I also want to make the badge a banner, but I just wanted the badge itself up right now. I can add a border if ya'll think it's to plain, or change the font. I just wanted to post this one so I could get feed back so I could mess around with it. I've got a few other done, but I liked this one the best.  Okay I lied, I like these two more.

I like your idea for individual icons. Alas, last night I had to march at a football game and my pathetic excuse for a Photoshop ripoff is no longer cooperating with me. stressed Here's what I managed to get saved before it died:

BabyBits that a cool one! Where did you find that background? (though I think you should make them, mine don't look that good) I just fed a picture of the pocketwatch through the "Watercolor" effect option. By the by, can I borrow your idea for the individual icons for badge version 2.0?

I'm a girl... stare I was thinking of a seperate thread where people could post and say they want badges, and if they already have a logo picked out for themselves post it with their notice. I'd make the badge, and then PM it to them. It would minimize confusion on my side of the deal. As for gold...that's entirely up to the Fuhrer(s).
