Connection to the stars: A voice is but a 1000 words: Part 3

The day gave way to night, and a lone filly with a mischevious nature decided to do something out of the ordinary. Slowly, she inspected the small quanities of bags, and sniffed for that wonderful food. Where was it she wondered. With a soft toss of her head, she trotted over to Mana and the other steed. They then set off out into the night, in search of Andromeda's idea....

~*~*~*~*~

Rein: Blinked her eyes, as the sun was slowly making way up over the tall horizon, blanketed by the mountains to the North. She stretched as her figure responded to the warming light upon her delicate face. She looked around, noticing her companion, still dredged with sleep it seemed.

A faint sound could be heard, as she lifted her head to gaze upon one she knew well. "Unicorn." she exclaimed as she gazed upon the sparkling equine. "Why did you travel so far and few, are you well?" she breathed with a reassuring outstretched hand.

The creature stood and nodded her milky white muzzle as the elfling kitsune outstretched her soft skinned fingertips. "Indeed, you have traved quite a distance, and all for one whom you care for. You honor me empress, with such compassion as this." she said with a small smile as it grazed over her beautiful muzzle.

Rein: Stood there and smiled at her, quite contented, that one such as this was blessing the long journey before them.

"Thank you once again. You always bring a sense of direction to me, as your visits are one in a summer's rain." she said with a giggle.

As the sun rose higher, Rein looked over her shoulder, hearing three sets of distinct hoofbeats amongst the ground. As she inspected closer, there she spotted Andromeda, Mana, and the other unnamed steed of Yami's.
In each of their mouths, one carried the remaining packs and supplies, including the tent, rations, and other well needed things.

Rein: Blinked as her little herd neared toward her, each dropping a bag or item on the ground. As she turned back to talk to the spiraled horn equine, she realized that the creature simply vanished. Shaking her head, she walked softly over to Yami. Kneeling on her knees she sat and watched him with a smile.

"Yami... Good morn to you."

As the dawn gave way to morning, he started to feel the warmth of the sun upon his face. Not having had his coat on, he remembered how cold the night was. His eyes openned slowly to the mornign sun, to find Rein kneeling above him. A little groggy, he rubbed his eyes a bit, opened them and jumped back startled as she sat in front of him. He pulled his scarf up to his face and began to stand.

"I see morning has come already. It never seems long enough sometimes."

He walked himself over to retrieve his coat that he let her use as a blanket, and started to slip it back on, " I hope you had slept well, through the night though."

Rein: Watched him, as she studied his features. She blinked suddenly as he covered himself with his scarf. Was he hiding something...

~"Fea..Fea warwa..... Run Rein... run safely from here...."~

Shaking her head she raised her palm to her brow, as if relieving herself of some unknown distraction.

~"No mommy..I want to stay with you....I want to be here."~

"Mmm what is going on....I'm feeling dizzy."

Andromeda: Looked up from her grazing and looked at Rein with a puzzled look. She snorted and walked over with a tilt of her starry head. Affectionately, she nosed her muzzle into Rein's shoulder.

"I'll talk soon...and it will be okay. Oh hey look what I found... " she whinied as she brought over a wierd fruit.

Rein: Looked up, her face as frightened as a five year old fledgeling. "Andromeda...what is that?"

Andromeda: Placed the wierd fruit in Rein's hands, trying her best to make her understand. She snorted then trotted over to the bags they had salvaged. Trotting in a return, she placed the first book in Rein's hands as well.

Rein: Blinked and looked at the two items. "You are a smart baby. Hmm Yami I think things just got easier for us now." she said as she opened the book.

"Follow the seashore till you reach the tree with the fruit. Then seek the elders in the cave to the north, for then you will learn the knowledge you need."

The elf rubbed his head and turned back towards Reiin and the foal.
"So, where did she run off to all that time?"

He looked at the bags as they lay there all lined up, "I see someone was kind enough to retrieve our missing inventory," he gently rubbed Andromeda's muzzle.

"How very kind of you," he said in a soft voice then turned back towards Rein," I don't kow how much easier this quest can get since the clues we do have are cryptic at best. We should at least see what we can decipherbefore we rush out on to anything else."

Rein: Stood and ran a delicate hand through her soft sliky flowing hair.

"Hmm well.. the book says look for a designated cave. But frankly, I don't see one. I know we were on the right track. I'm sure this wierd fruit is what we're searching for..."

She looked at the large foal whom looked curiously back to her.

"I know we're on the right path...but.." she sighed and looked back to the book once more.

~*~

Andromeda: Snorted as she nuzzled Yami with a short whinny, though soft and sweet. Somehow they had to understand....
Tossing her head about, she turned her head to face North of the encampment. A glow, perhaps a tick of the light caught her keen eye.
Raising her head higher, she noticed the aura again.
Quickly, she pawed at the ground, then grapped Rein's robe in her teeth.

~*~

Rein: Shook her head as the foal seemingly was either playing, or desperate at getting attention on some level. Biting her lip she looked at Andromeda.

"We're lost...aren't we?" she murmered sadly.

~*~

Andromeda: Shook her head and stamped her feet, as she tossed her head wildly.

"Miss Rein..there...look there." she snorted in a high pitched whinny.

~*~

Rein: Noticed the urgency in her foal, then turned her head to the desired location. Suddenly, the light came and went. Was it a horse she saw? Or was it her imagination. She stood there mesmerized then spoke.

"Yami... do you see what I see?"

The young elf was mildly oblivious as to what was goin on at the moment. His mind was busy contemplatign what it wa the mysterious fruit was that Rein's foal had found. He rotated it in his hand, trying to piece togetehr what it might be. The fruit wasn't quite one he had been familiar with despite his years of wandering, if looke dlike a blackberry, but wasn't black in color, there were various types of the such, and all of them various shapes and colors, looking liek many other fruits but not quite beign the particular fruit that it was thought to have been.

"This quest just keeps gather more curious twists and turns, what could this fruit be," he though to himself as his eyes looked deep in thought, and a look of seriousness was on his face," It is however unknow what it would do to either one of us if we took a bite of this fruit. If one of us is to take a bite, perhaps I should be the first, int he case soemthign should go wrong."

He stood and stared at the strange tree, glancing at the many fruits on it, then back down to the one in his hand. His attention got stirred when a bright flicker of light was caught out of the corner of his eye. He turned to see what it was, but could nto quite make out what it was.

Rein: Blinked again, and kneeled down to rummage through her bags. She smiled happily, as her hand brushed against the letter Ceres had given them before the trip.

"Ah yes. Andromeda. Come here sweetie." she cooed to the large starry foal.

Andromeda: Lifted her head up to look at Rein. She whinied with a start and trotted over.

"Yes? What's that? Hmm is that something we need to do? I'm bored."

Rein: Held up the paper and smiled.

"Yami. We need to head to the cave. We need the approval of the elders before we can continue. Atre you coming as well?"

She smiled and patted Andromeda. Also, retrieving the strange jelled friut as well.

"To the cave then. And be quick about it. Time is wearing down for us."

She gently placed the rope around the foal's neck, then walked beside her. Hopefully Yami would follow, if it was supposedly true, he'd learn the secret speech of their special charge.

The young elf turned his head back to the lady Rein. Placing the curious fruit in his pocket, he started walking over towards her.

" Yes, I will be going, as havign been charged with your protection, I can not simply allow you to go alone."

He picked up what remained of the camp site and strapped it to the saddlebags of the equines. He then began following behind Rein as her and Andromeda where in the lead, he took up the rear of the group watchign both sides at all time. He then began to think about the fruit that he saw on the tree again, and wondered what of it's signifigance. What part would that tree play in this quest. Every so often he re-arranged his scarf, and pulled his coat closed, it was cold, witht he onset of winter. Though they were on the beach, it got colder as the day would turn into night.

Connection to the stars: Voices that Speak The Future: Part 4

The elfling and the changking walked slowly towards the deep mouth of the cave. Both were a bit wary, yet they held each other's confidence securely in one another.

Rein: Held the paper close, in the grip of her hands, her fingers white with tenseness. She was the first to enter, knowing this quest was almost to the end.

Andromeda: Snorted and bowed her head as if they had been approached by someone. She nodded and took the paper from Rein's hand.
Slowly she pawed the ground and nodded once more.

Rein: Perked her ears listening as the wind seemed to speak softly, blowing about in the mouth of the cave. She gasped as a form appeared, sparkling around her in the darkness of the cave. Another form approached resembling a changling before "changes" take place from the influence of a caretaker.

Thinking to herself, "This must be the elders of the changlings."

The two spirits then began to walk towards the darkness of the cave. In which Andromeda followed with her head held high. The changling nodded her head looking about, yet never letting go of the paper.

The elfling in turn followed them, hoping her companion was not lingering behind. She wondered if this was the "real step" into the unknown of her future with her playful foal. Was she truly on the way to becoming a full fledged adult?

The elf did not say much as he wondered behind the rest. He was still pondering the fruit from the tree, wand what it's meaning is. As they approached the cave, he could feel the prescences of a few souls that were lingering about. The whole cave made him feel sor tof uneasy at first, bt it was something they had to do. Unsure of everything he just stopped thinking and placed the piece of fruit back in his pocket for the time being. He grasped at his sword for a moment when he heard Rein gasp, only to look up to see the spirits in front of them.

"More questions to be left unanswered, " he thought to himself.

His eyes roamed a bit as the groups tarted to follow the spirits, "Hopefulyl there's no need for me to worry that we may be acting a bit naive. Soemthign seems a little too uneasy abotu all this and the feelign won't leave my stomach."

Those thoughts rode with him as they traveled into the cave.

The two sprits stood not far, from the mouth of the cave, and seemed to shimmer like stardust, only found in illusion and ancient tales.
The first, a dazzliling array of light looked to the second. A more stern looking apparition, which gaze seemed cold yet stern.

Andromeda: Seemed imnpatient and eager to finish her quest. She pawed the ground, then looked to Yami and Rein for any sign they were almost done. She still hung onto her paper, that Ceres had given them.

The spirits looked from one to another, yet not a sound was made.
The deeper one, resembling a changling approached Andromeda gazing at the paper closer. He then raised his head and started to walk toward Rein, glancing at Yami as well. He snorted and seemed to paw the ground.

Andromeda: Watched intently, waiting. She looked for any sign to advance further.

The spirit turned to look at the brighter one, and nodded.

Andromeda: Nodded her head as well, followed by little whickers and snorts. Swinging her body, she headed toward Rein, and nosed into her pocket, removing the fruit. She then plced it in Rein's hands, and nibbled a bite out of it.

Rein: Looked to Yami, as she stared at the odd colored fruit.

"I think we're supposed to eat it Yami. Okay. Looks innocent enough..." she said with a waver, as she took a bite out of the strange fruit. Her face turned sour, and she coughed.

"Blech.. sour. Yami its your turn. Go on you can trust them."
PostPosted: Wed Jan 19, 2005 2:40 pm

His eyes widened as she coughed at the sour fruit, that she had just bit into.

"And with a reaction like that I'm simply suppose to trust you on this. Gotta admit though, your face was priceless."

He laughed a bit and pulled up his scarf a bit, staring at the fruit in hand.

"Judging by your reaction it don't taste very good, so biting into it isn't exactly encouraging."

He brought the fruit up to his mouth, and hesitated a bit, then bit down into it. Indeed it was sour and his face scrunched a bit behind his scarf, and his eyes went shut with a twinge.

"If I only need to take one bite, I guarentee you I won't be biting anymore."

Rein: Felt a bit lighthead, as she went to her knees in a deepened head rush. The fruit was sour indeed, that's what ran through her mind.
She placed her head on her forehead, feeling a bit feverish.

Andromeda: Immediately, grabbed the fruit and munched it down like it was nothing. The filly then turned to look at the elders, which nodded back to her. "A picture.. hmm... okies lets try this..."
She walked over to Rein and looked at her closely, "Think think..umm here goes."

Rein: Felt her head absorb everything around her. She blinked, hand pushing her hair back. "Wha?? I'm seeing colors Yami?"
The elven girl saw a light blue image the faded to green, bright and full of vibrance. She then saw an image of a raspberry.
"Yami... can you see this? I think I'll try..."

She closed her eyes and thought of a color...mingling with water.

Andromeda: Saw the purple image, then the water. Thinking with not as much as a whinny, she projected back a picture of Rein.

The elf held his head and sat down leanign against the cave wall. His head started to spin and he felt like he was going to pass out. The colors flashed before his eyes and at point his eyes began to hurt.

"This isn't much of a time to be tripping out, but yeah, I see them."

He leaned back trying to regain his senses, but felt dizzzied. He leaned on his right arm in order to prop himself up. Slowly he tried to stand, only to fall back to his knees.

"Man this is such a headache."

Andromeda: Tossed her head about and cheered with a celebrating whinny. While it was not consistent speech, there was an air of victory that swirled about the small party.

Rein: Placed her hands together, clasping them in a happy overture.
Finally the first set of the quest had been fullfilled. Now it was time to head toward the final goal. But what lied there in waiting? Would they be up to par watching the quest unfold to something more than they ever dreamed of? All these and more swirled about Rein's mentality, thoughts of things here and there.

The elder waited for elflings and the changling to colaborate with their thoughts and ideas on things. The female oriented one shimmered brightly, though she spoke nothing that was audiuble to interpert.
Her companion, a much sturdier type of changeling, simply flickered in and out, almost in a cranky yet stern sort of way.

Rein: Looked up at the two and nodded. Her eyes shimmered with as much granduer that she could muster. And then she spoke, soft and light upon the wind thay flowed briskly throughout the cave.
"Thank you elders" consistently Rein tried to recall the names of the two that were the watchers of the changlings, "Athen and Athlena."
She smiled and looked at Andromeda then back to the spirits once more.

Andromeda: Whinied and flicked her powderpuff tail back and forth vigorously. Taking a step forward, she leaned in closer to the elders. Her muzzle managing whickers and snorts to the elfling's ears.
"Thank you.. thank you. Now I can go on my final trial to the tower again. And then I will be big when I emerge victorious once more. Now that Rein and I can talk.. I think we'll be better this time".

The female nodded and shinied as lustorious as a fallen fresh star. The large male-like spector spoke its its own premise to her. The female also chimed in to acknowledge Andromeda's excitement.

"You seek the wizard do you not? Then you must seek Anomally as well."

"Yes. Anomally will help you Andromeda. In the tower he waits. But do be careful child, for other things lurk in the darkness as well.

"Yes. You must go now. But keep in mind that you and the one you are protected by... you are a pact and must keep it that way."

Andromeda: Nodded and snorted toward them, then turned to Rein then Yami. Thinking hard, she projected a pictoral image of the tower.
"I'm ready... Are you guys?"
