"Huh, that's right, the Halloween party... i should order something to go in." he got a devious look. "Something expensive. Might as well while they're footing the bill."
Liamh grabbed the glass as it came careening toward him. "Sure thing. What'll ya have?" he went over and started mixing up a couple of drinks for them.
"Memorial, eh? That's a great idea... i've only heard about the incident in passing - mostly with really long faces and vague, hushed conversation - but considering the circumstances, i don't blame anybody. Heh. Gaius is a good man, i'm not surprised he's involved with it."

Richard was finding himself enjoying the conversation. It was easy and friendly, and neither of them was trying to manipulate the other. A refreshing change of pace. He found himself being far more open with Laimh that he usually considered safe although he figured the Scotch had something to do with that.
"Scotch on the Rocks." He should probably switch to something less hard hitting, this would be his third which would probably be enough to push him from relaxed into slightly drunk. Normally he carefully paced himself but this weekend was anything but normal.
"Gaius is a good lad. Thats for sure. We'll probably start construction sometime next week. This weekend I'm adjusting to my... condition." The little arms waved a bit. "If you can swing a hammer feel free to help."

Liamh brought the drinks back over - scotch on the rocks for Richard, and another marguerita for himself, with more lime this time. Sitting down at the stool, back out of tentacle-range, he slid the drink over as carefully and as far as he could. "You'll forgive me for not gettin' too close, i hope.." he gave a lopsided smile, a bit sheepish.
"Eh, it might be nice to feel like i was accomplishing something for once... I haven't had much luck with tools, but considering most of my skills are now rendered kind of null on this rock, i guess this is the perfect time to learn.." he grumbled, taking a good sized sip of his drink. "Just keep the bandages and tourniquets on hand, in case i chop off a hand or something."

"No offence taken." He raised his glass to Laimh and drained it. He coughed at little as the burn went down. Might as well go for broke.
"Heh, a techy type I'm guessing?" Laimh did fit a couple of the stereotypes. "Its been good to meet you Laimh, but I just went over my limit." He grinned good naturely.
"Got to train these snakes on my back how to be a bit more friendly." The smile was a bit forced after that statement. The third drink had been a mistake, with the warmth of the scotch spreading though him, Richard could feel a depression coming with it. He didn't need to subject Laimh to stories about Erica. How she died an utterly meaningless death. Nor did he want to start whining about how he really didn't want to become a freakish monstrousity. It was better for everyone if Richard just walked away. Maybe he'd wander the beach for awhile or something.
Richard rose from his seat and grabbed the cane that had been leaning againist the bar.

"Guilty as charged, sir," the geek leaned on the counter, "If you ever happen to have any data security needs, give me a ring at number 66. Or if any pigs learn to fly..."
With so few computers accessible to the islanders made it a little hard to render services in the usual way - not that he wouldn't do the same were he a maniacal egoist genetics scientist holding over seventy people captive on an island. But it still left him feeling a bit unfulfilled somehow, to be rendered useless so abruptly.
"Pleasure to meet you too.. though the tentacles, not so much." Liamh raised his own glass in salute. "... take care, Letterman," he chuckled, tipping back his drink.
