i dont know about anyone else but u give me a choice and ill defiantly choose a whee rpg whee cuz they are so freaken better, sure i like 3nodding first person shooters 3nodding , but whee rpgs whee beat everything mrgreen ...

I don't know about that, I think lots of boys do like rpgs 3nodding But in rpgs girls tend to like the story plots of the game and all the features like chatting and customizing their characters. wink
|

Im a oddity out, i love fps games, i love rpgs, i love survival horror, the only type of games im really not into are strategy, i play alot of MMO's which is sad that most of the MMo community are guys.

I avoid RPG games because they require too much commitment. I just want to pick up a game and play and than forget all about it. I don't want to bother leveling up my character, comparison shopping for better weapons, and managing my inventory. I don't have that much free time anymore.

a.d.d and rpgs usually don't mesh really well...>_>

maybe cause of the sappy storing line.. female luv romance then guys do. Guys like to play sports, racing, and shooting games while we tend to drool over the hot babes in rpgs; however, in mmorpg there more guys then females..odd isnt it. Half of the female chrarcters u see are male so its hard to state if theres more female then male razz

I guess I'm supporting this whole thing with the fact that I am absolutely obsessed with rpgs and I don't really like fps all that much.
It does seem like when I'm around guys talking about games, they would usually talk more about fps than rpgs. But if the topic is raised, they'll talk about some rpgs too, like Tales of Symphonia or Final Fantasy.
I guess most guys, or at least quite a few, like action in a game rather than substance, like a good plot or good characters.

It's more deep than say, first person shooters.
It has a plot and requires strategy and quick decision making, and focuses a lot on the characters.
Whereas, in other games, it's just "oh look, a person! let's shoot it!"
Us girls prefer rpgs becuase it's a lot deeper.

Not RPG, not FPS...good, old-school adventure games are my favorite. cool

From my personal experiences, most of the guys who exclusively play FPS, sports, sandbox, and racing games are the kind of guys who play sports, love cars, and wouldn't ask me for the time of day. A lot of the guys I know who play RPGs like anime and aren't into athletics or many extracurriculars...maybe they just think they don't have the time for an RPG? I think the action plays a factor, my cousin says that he thinks "the chicks in racing and sandbox games are hot, and anime girls suck." That's pretty much a direct quote there, but the guy's an idiot with a letter jacket. sweatdrop

I like them both. As long as the FPS isn't CoD. Our lan party has played that game over and over again for almost 2 years now. gonk I'm so sick of it! That and Halo. I used to think it was cool but now I'd rather burn a xbox... My first game was an RPG, FFIV, so thats what I've grown to like. I do get burnt out everyonce in awhile. All that leveling up takes alot out of you. Mostly cause its mind numbing if you are playing the old school rpgs. Its just a smash fest and knowing the right spells to take the guys out the fastest.

In my expirience, boys tend to like fps more because they're more violent and a better testosterone outlet than rpgs are.
But, that could just be the guys I know.

whee I like both types of games! I like rpg's because I can really get involved in the story, and I like FP's cause I like violence. I think guys like both too!
