For years I have felt another prescence. It has always been there, lingering beside me, or barely trailing behind me. He watches over me. Now I never really saw him, so how I knew his gender would be a mystery in itself. But I just felt that he was a he.

While shopping, going out to my car, or merely walking along the street I would catch mere glances of him. All of which were mere shadow, dark blurs of what could be guessed to be a human form. At first I would give myself excuses that it was my imgaination and nothing more, no one was behind me. But then he became braver, or maybe more friendly once he realized that he didn't frighten me. I guess I would say that he became brave about 5 years ago.

His forms and blurs became more realistic over the past few years. His presence more obvious. He would play jokes on me. Whether it be a mere change of the tv channel, or a flickering of the light, he would make sure I "was aware of his presence before he stayed around for too long. I will admit that at first it frightened me. I have long believed in spirits and ghosts, but I had never truly had a personal experience with one. The fact that I had one following me around kind of creeped me out, especially the fact that it was male. But over time I became used to him and over time I also became fond of him. He was a welcomed presence, a welcomed friend. Whenever I came home I would get an overwhelming sense of warmth and welcome and whenever I was sad I would feel as if I were being comforted. It seemed I had grown on him aswell. I guess I would never really understand how much I had actually grown on him. At least not until that day.....

October the 13th, the superstitious Friday. Most people fear this day beyond all others, especially the fact that this year it is placed within the same month as Halloween. I never really took this day to heart, for I wasn't a very superstitious person before.

I woke up to the sound of my alarm screaming for me to wake up. I ignored it as I usualy do, curled up underneith my covers facing away from the screaming nuisance, still in a sleepy daze. A few more cycles of chirps and whistles and that when I heard his voice. It was soft and yet had a mocking tone to it....

" Y'know, thats really annoying," the voice murmured.
I groaned in response, turning over to gaze at the source of the voice. It was a young man, in his teens I would have guessed, sitting on the edge of my bed indian-style, gazing at me with a soft smile, curling up into a small smirk as I slowly looked at him. He was resting his chin in his hands, which were placed on each of his knees. Dressed in all black except for a white collared shirt accompanied by a black tie. He had dark hair, his bangs barely covering his eyes. His eyes would probably be the thing that stuck out the most from all that darkness. They were a bright emerald green and were so friendly and happy, if eyes could be described as that.

I blinked a few times, still in a sleepy daze as I continued to turn away from him, toward my alarm clock, reaching out with a shaky hand to finally silence it.
" Yes well, I'm taking care of that," I muttered as I pressed the snooze button. I was more awake by now, and started to realize that there was another person on my bed. I turned swiftly towards him, only to find a empty place upon the foot of my bed. Had I imagined it?

The rest of the day couldn't have been worse. My day at work was full of drama and my co-workers attacked me verbally with their stress. Once I finally left that hell hole of female hormones, I had nearly gotten into an accident while driving home, and was pulled over not two moments later. Thankfully the officer had let me off with a warning. It was a pretty emotionally draining day. I came home in a storm of rage, tossing my purse onto the ground, kicking my shoes off and slamming my keys onto the counter. I think I would have taken the day off had I know that the bad luck would finally catch up to me. Then I heard it, soft music playing from my stereo.

I wish you'd unclench your fists.....
Lately there's been too much of this....
But don't think it's too late....

I was frozen in place as the music flowed through me, but somehow I was able to turn my head towards the stereo and thats when I saw him, for the second time that day. He stood infront of the stereo, on ehand in his pocket while the other slowly turned up the volume. He turned towards me and smiled softly, placing his extended hand out toward me. He was fully there this time. Not just a shadow or a blur. But a complete image. Thats when I knew he'd always be there, to protect me, and guide me. My dark gaurdian angel.

Nothing's wrong, just as long as
You know that someday I will.....

A warm feeling drawn down my cheek. Was I crying?
I looked up as I felt someones hand touch my cheek to wipe away the tear. I gazed into saddened emerald eyes.

" Please don't cry," he said quietly. " I have something for you, and unfortuneatly it leads to my having to leave."

I blinked a few times, confused by his words.

" You have to leave? Why?"

" I have come to give you something. It took me quite a while, but finally I can give him to you." He waved his left hand above his curved right arm, slowly a shadow grew from that arm, and formed a bundle of cloth.

" Him? What are you talking about?" I gazed down at his arm as he held out the bundle to me. I took it, not really knowing what else to do and not wanting to refuse his gift. It was heavy, heavier than I had expected.

" Please take care of me," he whispered.

" Take care of you?" I looked up to ask him what he ment, but he was gone. I sighed as a chill ran down my spine at his absense, and gazed down at the bundle in my arms. A tiny, transparent arm sprung from the bundle of cloths and snatched hold of my hair that happened to be dangling infront of it.

I gasped from the pain as the hand tugged, pulling itself out from the shadows of cloth. His eyes and smile met mine. And thats when it all made sense. I would be takign care, of him.

" Hello there, Elazu." I smiled softly and kissed the child on his head, knowing that the name was what he would want to be called.

Elazu was quite the trickster when he was still a spirit, and it seems this behavior is very prominant in this form too. Boys will be boys! It seems Elazu has a special gift of being able to slip his hands through objects, or have objects slip through his hands. Start an activity with Elazu that is entirely dependant on using his hands, so perhaps he can better grasp his physical form.

Smerdle
Who knew that having a child would be such a colossal guessing game? Smerdle had known about the teething and the changing and the sleep refusal, and any number of other things the baby books had mentioned. Obviously, those baby book authors had never met Shye. He slept through the night with no problem, which was weird enough in and of itself, but he was an awful menace during the day, demanding things with screams and pointing instead of discussion and actual words.

Today, for example, the baby had crawled to the front door, as soon as he had stopped spilling Cheerios all over himself, and had sat there wailing for no apparent reason at all. It was only after Smerdle had tended to every baby need and decided to take Shye outside as a last resort that the crying had stopped.

Now they stood outside a huge toy store, peering through the glass at the colorful displays and dancing costumed characters within. Smerdle was very afraid to take Shye back indoors, so she offered a compromise.

"Shye?" she said, smiling at the baby when he looked at her, "If you don't cry when we're inside, I'll buy you a toy. Okay?"

Smerdle had no idea whether he understood her or not, but when he pointed at the door and stuck a slobbery fist in his mouth, she decided it was safe to enter.

Sika-chan
Sika stood in an aisle of the toy store, a fairly colourful cd in her left hand, and a fairly verbal child tugging on her hair on her left side while gumming a piece of stringed cheese. With her eyes narrowed towards the CD she sighed a little and turned her gaze towards the child, who greeted her with a sharp pull of her long, blonde hair.

By now she had already been getting used to his tugs of her hair, and his squeals of excitement whenever he happened to tug any strands from her head. She had kept her hair long, even after many warnings from experienced mothers that it would be her famous last words. It kept him happy, so why should she care? After so many tugs and bites, you finally just stop feeling anything.

Now as far as the CD goes....Well the small child, Elazu, had grown fond of yanking CDs off of displays and connecting them with Sika's temple until she grabbed it from him. Had it been merely for her reaction, or if he actually wanted the CD, she was never too sure. But he didn't always do it, and whenever he did they were always similar in genre, classical or rock. So after a while she finally started to look the CDs over, no matte rhow colourfuly sickening they were, and then put them in their shopping basket to take home. As it was their current basket was already starting to near the top, it seemed that Elazu had caught on.

" What am I going to do with you Elazu," she questioned the blubbering child on her hip. He answered with a smile and a garbbled answer from around his stringed cheese. She sighed and smiled softly.

Smerdle
Smerdle made her way down several aisles before coming to the pair. Shye was the first to react, pointing again at the boy in Sika's arms and smiling toothlessly. Smerdle noticed Elazu's hair-tugging and winced, glad that she kept hers short. She also noticed that the child's arms seemed to disappear at the ends, but that didn't stop him from grabbing all kinds of stuff, from string cheese to CDs. Weird.

"He looks like a handful," Smerdle said to Sika, smiling and wiggling her fingers at the boy. She wasn't trying to intrude, it just wasn't every day that she saw a kid with ghost arms.

Shye was trying to intrude, however, and he leaned over to get to the other boy, almost falling out of his mother's arms in the process. Smerdle struggled to sit him upright for a moment before muttering, "They're all handfuls," and resuming her happy grin.

Sika-chan
Sika looked up from her reading and turned toward Smerdle and smiled in response.

" You get used to it, " she said as she hefted Elazu higher on her hip and turned him closer toward the other pair.

Elazu giggled as he waved his free hand at Smerdle's wiggling fingers. Then he caught sight of the other boy who in a sense could be considered his inverse. Elazu tugged closer to Sika as Shye approached, not afraid but weary. He was fond of checking things out slowly, not getting them thrown at himself. He let out a quiet whimper as he tugged Sika's hair again to get her attention.

Sika sighed and placed the cd she held into their already overflowing basket then reached to comfort Elazu.

" Deffiantly handfuls," she muttered as she tried to calm him down. It didn't take much, a few coos and promises of blocks of cheese when they get home, and he was fine.

She hefted him higher on her hip again and smiled as he returned to sucking on his stringed cheese, keeping a careful watch of Shye.

" Don't mind him. He gets upset if things happen too fast." She smiled as she turned back toward Smerdle, extending her free hand to the other girl.

" My name's Sika, and this little devil, is Elazu." Elazu squealed at the mention of his name, somehow knowing he was being introduced.

Smerdle
"Smerdle," she said, shaking the offered hand. "This is Shye." The baby tried to wiggle out of her arms again, but when the handshake was over she used her freed hand to clasp him to her chest. "Elazu doesn't want to experience you up that close yet," she scolded. "Sorry," she said to Sika. "He just met another boy his age yesterday. I think it made him a little too curious about other small people."

Shye took a few minutes, but finally followed Smerdle's implied order and settled down, watching the cheese-eating child with unwavering interest.

"Elazu likes music?" Smerdle asked. So far the only things Shye had expressed an interest in were hearing his name followed by the word "no" as many times a day as he was able.

Sika-chan
She smiled and nodded, " He loves music mainly rock and classical from what I can tell. Oh and cheese. As to why, I have no idea," she leaned her head against Elazu's as she spoke, giving him some comfort and hoping for him to grow some courage to actually interact with Shye.

Elazu giggled as he continued to stare at Shye, then suddenly offered the other boy his half eaten stringed cheese. Sika laughed with a surprised look on her face and turned him closer toward Shye.

" Elazu hasn't really met anyone else his size," she mused out loud. " Well except for the twins at home, but they are shy compared to your boy." She smiled at Shye and leaned in toward him. " Who, I might add, is a very handsom little man."

Smerdle
"Say 'thank you,' Shye," Smerdle prodded.

Shye looked up at the sound of his name, but when all he saw was the same old Smerdle his attention turned, once again, to Elazu. He smiled gleefully and reached over, trying to grab the cheese without thinking of how his enthusiasm might upset his potential playmate.

"Shye's... interesting looking," Smerdle agreed with a smirk at the baby's antics. "Elazu's hands - does he have bones in there?" She didn't mean any offense, she just had never seen anything like them before.

Sika-chan
Elazu watched Shye with caution, but he did not cower away this time, but freely gave his new friend the gift of cheese. Elazu smiled softly and giggled as she snatched a lock of Sika's hair giving a great tug in order to get praise for being a good boy.

Sika smiled down at Elazu, barely even wincing when he pulled her hair, but absentmindedly started to pry his semi visible fingers from her hair.

"His hands are indeed interesting," she mused as she patted him on the head, finally getting her hair free. " It really depends, when I felt them for the first time, they felt like any other hands. But there are times where I wont be able to grab a hold of his hand at all, he'll even drop things without notice, but his hand will still be cupped as if he didnt even know it had happened." She shrugged and hefted him higher on her hip again, his constant squirming and jumping made him slide slowly down her hip. " I don'tknow what to think of it really," she frowned a little and looked up at Smerdle. "I mean I dont know whether its some ability or somethign thats just taking effect slowly? Its a real mystery, especially when he can't explain it to me."

As if sensing Sika's confusion, Elazu cooed and cuddled closer to her, petting her hair with his cheesy fingers. Sika smiled and kissed his forehead, then looked back up at Smerdle.

" What about Shye? i see his interesting outfit, can he actually fly with that?" Sika wasn't too keen about flying machines or flying abilities, so it was always somethign interesting to find out.

Smerdle
Smerdle looked at Elazu's hands with renewed interest. "That's so weird," she said. "Cool, but weird."

As if they knew they were being spoken of, Shye's wings beat strongly for a moment as he got a hold of the cheese and brought it up to his nose to sniff. They didn't do more than stir the air around, but the flat of one caught Smerdle in the face mid-breath.

"Um... yeah," she said, blinking at the white thing invading her line of sight. When Shye had calmed down, she continued. "I don't think he can fly, at least I hope not," she said, smiling. "I don't even want to think about it, actually."

Deeming the cheese all right for consumption, Shye shoved the rest of it in his mouth and gummed. Hey, it was pretty good! He smacked his own cheese-covered hands together in appreciation.

Sika-chan
" Yes it is very weird. He does get frustrated whenever he notices that he dropped soemthign though. Its cute and sad all at the same time," she snickered as she said this and kissed Elazu's head again.

Elazu cooed and stared at Shye as he ate the cheese. The other boy had eaten his food, the food he had offered him. A sudden giggle escaped Elazu's mouth and he tried to wiggle his way closer to Shye while still staying in the safety of Sika's arms.

" Well a flying child could deffiantly b a problem. I have one of those at home, with hooves, and he likes to land on just about anything, tear things up and bumping into things." She sighed, thinking of the mess she would more than likely be going home to.

Smerdle
"Hooves too? Man." Smerdle looked down at Shye as he clapped, once again thankful that he couldn't actually get off the ground by himself. She loosened her death grip on the baby, letting him once again get within touching range of Elazu.

Shye stopped clapping at the shadow baby's giggle. He had heard Elazu giggle other times since they had met minutes before, but something about this one was different. It was directly related to something he had done! Awesome! Shye raised his arms in the air as if he was heading down a hill on a roller coaster before smacking them down, hard, against Smerdle's forearm. "Aaa!" he said, a wide grin never leaving his face.

She winced before continuing. "Do you want to walk around with us? I told Shye he could have a toy, and even though I don't think he understood me, kids need toys, right? I should probably get him one anyway." She didn't really have any stuffed animals she was willing to part with, even if they would be gifts for her new child.

Sika-chan

" Yea, he's a hand full." She smiled at the thought of her other kids at home. The thought suddenly made her curse under her breath. She had told her eldest son that she would only be gone for a moment or two to get Elazu some CDs.

" I would love to! Unfortuneatly I cannot. I promised my eldest I woudl only be gone for a little bit so he wouldn't have to watch the kids for too long. Raincheck?"

Hefting Elazu higher on her hip, she quickly used her free hand to fish out a card from her inner jacket pocket. She held out the white business sized card toward Smerdle with a smile.

" Thats my home phone number and my cell. We should hang out again when I have the time to let little Elazu actually have some fun." She snickered to herself then bent down to pick up her basket of CDs.

Smerdle

"Oh yeah sure!" Smerdle said, taking the card. "I should get some of these made." She smiled. "I guess... I'll call you?" She didn't have cool cards nor any sort of writing implement, so she supposed she would be the one to contact Sika. "It was nice to meet you," she said with a wave.

Shye had less than no idea that his new cheesebuddy was about to leave, so he just continued to squirm, babbling softly to himself.

~A Game Of Patty Cake, Simple No?: Questing for control::1/2~

"Come on Elazu, you can do it." I smiled warmly at the child sitting before me, my hands extended infront of him. We had been at it for about ten minutes, playing Patty Cake that is.

....You see, my little Elazu had trouble with his hands. And by this I mean he has trouble keeping them solid. He often drops things and even falls into the ground when crawling around. Nothing breaks your heart more than seeing this emerald eyed cutie wail at the top of his lungs with a knot the size of a marble on his forehead.

So I figured instead of watching him continue to hurt himself, I would try to help him to control this power. How? I have no idea, I'm pretty much making it up as I go.

My first idea? Hand games.
My next idea? Patty Cake.

I told you I was making this up as I go. So anyways, back to the game....

Attempts had been made, and so far we were still on " Patty ca-" His hands would keep fazing out mid clap. Creepy? Yes very much so to see Elazu's hands poking out from the back of my own hands.

Our so called 'progress' was apparently not good enough for poor little Elazu. He could be so stubborn with his own abilities some times and be so hard on himself. Sure, seeing my creeped out expression had made him giggle once or twice at first, but after that he just got frustrated and would gurgle angrily. Which was exactly what he was doing at the moment, sitting on the floor with a frown and gurgling angrily to himself.

I sighed and reached out to hold him, but he screeched and crawled away from me, looking at me with such a glare that it caught me off gaurd. Apparently I had made a no-no by trying to help him give up. So up my hands went again, and I started to hum the patty cake tune, in hopes of making amends with the poor babe.

He watched me for a moment, those emerald eyes of his taking me in and watching my hands carefully as I did the motions of the game. A smirk curled upon his lips and he finally crawled closer to me, his hands darting out to join in the game.

...." Patty cake, patty cake, baker's man! Bake me a cake as fast as you can! Roooolllll it! Paaat it! And mark it with a B!
Put it in the oven for baby and me!".......

Halloween; Here thar be Octopus

This is going to be quick, because its getting late and I've got about three little boys screaming at me to leave the house already to go trick-or-treating. I think it would be a mistake to make all three of them angry.

So basically I got Elazu this cute outfit that made me DIE when I saw it. Well I first saw it at work since its halloween and plenty of parents are coming in with their kids in their outfits for pictures. Saw this outfit, asked th emom where she got it, and viola!

User Image

Cute huh? I was so glad to find it, and especially thrilled the get a picture of Elazu in it before he messed it up in anyway, which I am sure he will since I'm bringing his stringed cheese along for the ride.

Adorable! Well I better get going, the boys are starting to get restless and I don't want to be out too late with them. I only have two arms to carry them back home with. Haha.

~November 4th, 2006~

So I left the boys with the babysitter I hired for the day. Normally I wouldn't let some random stranger into my house, but I needed to get out and buy some gifts for the boys. Kisten has dropped his dragon statue on the ground, and had chewed several of Trent's logos in his depression. Elazu, I noticed, doesn't have many toys at all.

Either way, the girl seemed very nice and didn't seem too surprised by the way my boys looked. She did, however, seem curious as to how I could handle so many children on my own. It amussed me, for I think that very same question everyday.

So I walked down into the Woodstock Village, heading straight for the toy store and ignoring all of the side shops that would normally keep me there for hours. I had a plan this time, and I had already been to the story a few days before, so I knew exactly what and where to get my things.

I strode into the store, waving toward the grinning clerk as I headed to the back of the store. She was used to me, and actually had helped me the last time I was here, telling me exactly where everything was so I wouldn't have to wander aimlessly.

Aisle 2: Legos
Aisle 4: Mythology figures
Aisle 5: Stuffed toys

Odd arrangement but it had helped, how much was still a mystery, since now I was standing infront of the mountain of stuffed toys, wondering which one would be best for Elazu. After a fe minutes of staring, it was down to two, a plush white ghost, or a plush seas green octopus.

The octopus made me smile, for it reminded me of Elazu for halloween, and yet the ghost reminded me of his former self, before I had gotten his reborn self. Both held so much meaning.

" Both it is then," I whispered, smiling as I placed both into my basket.

After paying, saying thank you and good bye to the clerk, I finally headed home.

~1 Hour Later~

" No Elazu don't!" Too late, the stuffed ghost was already inside Elazu's mouth, covered in slober.
" Oh Elazu, what am I going to do with you..." He giggled in response, and I could barely help but smile back at him.

~Its Time to Boogie: Questing for Control::2/2 ~

" One, two, three. One, two, three. Good job Elazu."

The tall blonde was on her knees, moving around on them as if they were her feet. The small, dark haired child was standing, his hands clamped tightly around her hands, his feet stumbling around as he tried to keep up with the steps. Classical music played in the background as the two attempted their butchered version of the waltz.

The child's brow was furrowed in concentration with his eyes glued to their hands. He liked the dance, he liked the music, but did not like the idea of losing control of his hands and falling to the ground. He trusted that his mother would catch him, and his tail gave him excellent balance, but falling scared him nonetheless.

His mother would say words of encouragement whenever he seemed to be scared the most, and would smile brightly for further encouragment throughout the whole dance.

With time the child's steps became more confident and there was barely a stumble involved. He smiled triumphantly as he took notice of this and grinned up at his mother, who returned the look with a proud smile.

"You see Elazu? You got it!" His mother ment the dance, aswell as his contorl over his hands.

The child grinned in response and began to try and lead the way, his devilish tail flicking with pride behind him. A stumble here and there, but with all things considering, he was a natural, his hands still solid, and still clasped upon his mother's.

~Meeting The Family~

So not too much happened while I was away for a week with the family. Elazu was, of course, the center of attention, why wouldn't he be? I had him in his best Thankgiving suit that I found at Walmart. Oh and of course in return of this attention I was given a thousand questions. What do I feed him, where did he come from, is he a b*****d child? Yada Yada Yada. Yeah it got on my nerves real quick.

I finally had to just hide in the basement with poor little Elazu and do puzzles while he crawled around playing with my cousins. A squeal here and there would make me have to jump up form the card table to check up on him. It seems that while playing with them he learned a new trick.

Oh yes! He can now hide within shadows! If you look hard enough you can barely see him, mainly his glowing emerald eyes and sly grin while he waits for his "victims." In this game it was my poor, unsuspecting cousins being scared out of their skins. It made me laugh a couple times, but I had to scold him once for scaring the youngest of them.

Otherwise he was a perfect angel!

Plane Rides and Meeting Grandma

December 19th, 4:30am
So I woke up early to get some last minute laundry and last minute packign done for the kids. Getting my own packing done was a....fun experience. First I lost my own bag, having to go with a much smaller and less sturdy bag instead. I had two other suit cases, but at the moment they were all being used by Kisten and Trent. I swear, for kids they had plenty of things to bring with them on a week long trip.

Elazu was the easiest to pack. Being much smaller than the other boys, most of his clothes could fit into a regular handbag, plus he didn't understand the meanign of video games like Kisten did, so this left plenty of packing space. The only thing of his I would have to worry about would be his car seat aswell as the three seated stroller for everybody. The people at the baggage drop off were just going to LOVE me. Which is why I am getting to the airport 2 hours before my flight even starts boarding.

5:30 am

And we're off! Getting the kids into the car was simple enough, especially with Raziel's help. He was deffiantely a big help when Elazu started to throw a fit from being woken up. Kisten and Trent were still passed out, so a simple pick up and set down into their booster seats, and they were set to go. By the time everything was in the car and it was time to get going, Elazu still hadn't gotten over his fit. So for most of the ride to the airport I had to hold him. He has this thing now where he can only got back to sleep while being held if he can listen to my heart beat. Something hard to do since my heart hasn't needed to beat for about three hundred years. But my boys seem to do the strangest things to me, my heart workign again being one of the many things.

6:30am

As I had figured, the ticket lady was just thrilled with how many bags and the huge stroller I had to check. However, Raziel's glare and fanged sadistic grin made her keep her comments and snide remarks to herself as she entered codes into her computer and placed the tags onto my stuff. I waved a cherry goodbye then shuffled my way towards security, Elazu in my right arm, Trent holding my left hand, and Kisten holding Raziel's ( Trent refuses to get any where near Raziel and Kisten seems to be fairly fond of him), and then headed for Security.

The woman at the front of the security line was nice enough, she gave Kisten a long, confused stare especially when she had reminded us that we would need to take our shoes off then saw that Kisten had hooves for feet. Kisten didn't seem to mind the stares, he took them for stares of admiration and would grin right back at her, tugging on Raziel's hand to show him that he was getting attention.
A gave Raziel a quick kiss and hug goodbye, as did Kisten, then ushered the kids toward security. I placed my back pack onto the x-ray machine then turned towards the metal detector. Kisten had already skipped through and was waiting for us onn the other side with a huge grin on his face. I returned the grin then looked down at Trent, whom was staring at the device with large, scared eyes.
I knelt down by his side to see what was the matter, offering to walk him through it. He shook his head violently and ran toward Kisten, his eyes closed shut as he ran into his brother. I sighed and walked through with the still sleeping Elazu in my arms. The security officer nodded to me, his eyes still glued to Kisten and a sulking Trent as he muttered, " Got your hands full don't you?"

" That I do, sir. That I do."

Due to Elazu's age, I was able to get just three seats for the four of us. The flight attendants were angels, offering to help me get the kids into their seats. I got the first three seats of the plane so we were the first to board, thusly making us be waiting on the plane. The wait was a lot easier than I thought it would be due to the fact that I had woken the kids up so early, they were passed out before we even started to take off.
They stayed asleep for most of the flight, only waking up to ask to use to restroom, or to ask why the plane was shaking so much. All three of my boys have flown before, so the only thing that bothered them was turbulance and landing. Kisten would constantly ask if he could fly with the plane and when told no, why couldn't he? Trent slept for most of the flight, his first plane ride had scared the crap out of him so he knew better than to stay awake. Elazu of course was asleep for most of the ride too, only waking up when Kisten poked him to talk to him. Elazu really likes Kisten, he keeps him entertained the easiest, so no fits followed the sudden awakening.

Landing was smooth, and because were right infront of the plane, we were the first to get off. I was excited to see my mother so I was kind of rushing the half awake kids down the hall towards baggage claim. Down the escalder and there she was.

" Kids, thats your Grandma Mary," I said as I grinned at my already crying mother. Kisten squealed and ran down the rest of the escalder steps, pushign his way past a few people. Trent stood still, watching Kisten with a disgusted look as he ran into my Mother's open arms. I tugged Trent's hand to make him move as I walked off of the escalder, muttering a few apologies to those who were still around me that had been pushedmy Kisten.
I was instantly pulled into a tight hug, I barely had time to hold Elazu out the side on my hip so that he wouldnt get squished inbetween us. Elazu was also soon snatched from my arms into my mother's.
" So you have three now? When were you going to tell me about this cute one hm?" She waggled her fingers infront of Elazu's outstretched hands. He giggled in response, instantly brightening at the sight of my mother. " Oh, and look at this one's hands! I swear you get the weirdest, yet most adorable boys. And hello to you too Trent. I'll leave you next to your mother, she already warned me about your personal space."
Trent hid behind my legs as if on cue, and my mother and I exchanged a knowing look. One only mother's understood I guess you could say.
" Well lets get your bags," my mother said, still holding Elazu as she made her way towards the baggage claim. Kisten skipped at her side and Trent instantly grabbed hold of my hand as we started to walk.
" Of you're going to love how much stuff I packed mom," I said with a smirk.
" Oh Raziel already warned me my dear, about many things."
" You'll be needing a lot of coffee."

Duck Crossing!

" Mommy! Mommy! Look at the duckies! They look like doggies!" Kisten squealed, pointing at the three male ducks that were now surrounding him and his piece of bread. The ducks were about thigh high to him, so I of course kept a close watch on him while he fed them.

I had become fond of feeding these ducks myself. They were about knee high to me, they had white and black feathers which would turn green when hitting the light just right, and they had odd red growths around their beaks, very similar to a turkey. And what Kisten met by that they were just like doggies was that when they got excited or whenever you spoke to them they would wag their tails, just like a dog would.

While Kisten fed his three I sat close by with Elazu sitting in my lap and Trent standing behind me, his hands tight on my shoulder as he watchedme feed the duck infront of me. He was a little older than the other ducks, seemingly a loner, and much more patient when it came to letting the kids feed him. I had become especially fond of this duck mainly because of this patience. He even let Elazu feed him, a baby who was more interested in eatting the piece of bread himself rather than giving it to a duck to eat.

Trent, however, didnt trust the older duck. In fact he didn't trust any of the ducks, but this was to be expected, he didn't trust a lot of things.

Then I heard Kisten's squeal as he started to run back towards me, " No more duckies! No more!" The ducks didn't believe him, following closely behind him, waddleing as fast as their webbed feet would let them. I laughed and stood up, holding Elazu upon my hip as I made my way back inside of the house, holding Trent's hand.

" Ok Kisten lets go inside and leave the duckies alone." I tossed the last bits of bread that i had to the ducks, distracting them enough to let Kisten get away.

They were so impatient.

A Trip to the Mall

Christmas Morning Thrills

So I woke up to two pairs of eyes staring at me on Christmas morning. Kisten and Trent had woken up with the sun apparently, and said sun was now blaring down upon my eyes. I of course had that moment of " Oh my god I'm going to explode into flames now!" and shot out of bed into a shaded place of the room. But then I remembered that that didn't happen anymore, but since I was already up...

I got the already awake and waiting Elazu from his crib, while Trent and Kisten hung around my legs tryign to herd me into the living room where the tree and presents were. My mother was up aswell, setting the table for the already made breakfast. I of course demanded that Breakfast be first and then presents, but my demand was soon smushed by three, no wait four wails of frustration and disappointment. So I grabbed a plate and ate on the couch while Elazu sat in my lap playing with a bright red bow he had been given by my mother, and Trent and Kisten rip roared through their gifts.

Kisten got his usual mystic trinkets and toys that he had scribbled down on a list, but he seemed to just like to unwrap gifts. While Kisten would gleefully tear the wrapping paper off of the gifts, Trent would take care with the paper. Instead of ripping, he would gently pull the tape from the wrapping paper, then gently take the paper off of the package, folding it neatly in his lap before setting it aside to view his present. However, he too seemed more interested in unwrapping the gifts rather than the gifts themselves. I guess the thrill of unwrapping a surprise is better than playing with it?

So every gift was unwrapped, and out of all the gifts that they had unwrapped, they each seemed to have a favorite. Kisten had recieved a blood red scarf from my mother, which he had wrapped around his neck as well as around Trent's neck. Trent seemed extremely upset about his brother's invasion of his personal space, however, couldn't escape and finally gave up to look at his own favorite gift. My mother had gotten him one of those home garden kits you can buy at the book store. My mother was defiantly kicking some gift giving a**. Seeing a photo opp. I instantly grabbed my new digital camera, another awesome gift from my mother, and took a picture of the two wrapped together in Kisten's new scarf. The picture was defiantly being sent out in a card for the family, they bothered me enough for them as it was. Elazu gurgled from my lap then, gazing up at me as he gnawed on his new stuffed toy. His noises and looks screamed, Hey lady I need to be changed. So of course, that was my next agenda of the day...

Rebelli0N
Caden sat on the table in Ethan's dorm, his face two inches away from the computer screen. Images of algae lined up in an orderly fashion in Caden's light turquoise eyes as the skewed reflections of cyber-reality. Looking through the half-opaque little boy, Ethan bit his tongue in concentration. He was working on starting a biology project due the next day.

It was obvious that this little boy was getting a headache, and Caden looked back at Ethan, who -- for the moment -- saw right past him. By making himself more "concentrated", Caden solidified his tiny half-opaque body.
"Oh! Hey buddy, care to take a walk?"
Caden waved his hand(s, ahem) in the air. A bit franticly, I might add, but that was all it took for Ethan to understand him. A little poncho hung on the wall, for occasions such as this, and Caden took to this bright yellow thing quite well as Ethan stuffed him in and raised the hood.
"Alright, we're ready to go. Oh, and you don't need those rubber boots today."
Two bright turquoise eyes flickered about and a wink briefly covered a third golden eye; Ethan gently swung Caden over his shoulders (because Caden's as light as air and might sort of be flung all the way across the room if you're not careful -- it's happened before) and headed down the stairs to a soggy exit.

Sika-chan
Outside upon a bus stop bench they sat. A tall, long, blonde haired woman and her young, black spiked hair child. The boy was sitting on the bench with his feet hanging from the bench, swinging them while he hummed a happy tune.

They had just left the mall and were now awaiting the bus to come and take them home. Sure they could have walked, but Elazu had seen a bus drive by and wouldn't walk until they rode on a bus at least once.

As she looked down at her emerald eyed child, she couldn't help but snicker at his excitement for something so ordinary to her.

Rebelli0N
They took a long walk, the spirit-child and his guardian. They walked up and down multiple streets, arrived at a park, and spent time circling the grand old fountain with a bronze goldfish rising out of the water. Halfway through all this nonsense, the rain came a-tumbling down just as Ethan had predicted on his way out. Not to worry, though, for this young man came prepared with a slick zebra-colored umbrella with a handle adorned with, well, an ornate design made of stainless steel. When Ethan finally set Caden on the ground, the little boy decided he'd rather hover two inches above the cement than get his feet wet, and took his time looking over the contraption that set the fountain water ablaze. There seemed to be something that was of such drastic importance to little Caden that Ethan decided to follow the fog spirit's gaze. Much to his surprise, Ethan found himself snapping out of a trance some twenty minutes later, with only the poncho as a clue to where Caden had gone.

Meanwhile, the deviant Caden had floated off to seek something that would fulfill his short attention span. Due to his fog-like state (a lack of scent and visibility), he discovered that he was able to catch little birds and squirrels without hindrance, and Caden played his tricks with undue enthusiasm. Little by little, as babies do, Caden lost interest in his current activities and longed for something more exciting. He shook off the water droplets left by the sudden shower, and set off at a rapid pace for the silhouette of a distant bus stop bench revealed to him by divine lightning.

Sika-chan
The storm had been...less than expected. The pair still waited upon the bus bench, but were now much more closer together. Risika's jacket had become a makeshift umbrella as she drapped it over her head, pulling her legs up to sit indian style.

Elazu was sitting in between her legs, in a very similar indian style, leaning back against her chest in order to keep the rain off of him by staying under the safety of the jacket. Whenever he saw lightning, his hands automatically covered his ears and he kept his eyes wide open, grinning widely up at Risika. He liked the sound of thunder, but it was much louder outside than it was when he was inside and it hurt his ears a little bit.

Risika smiled down at him and held him closer, making sure he wasn't getting too cold or too wet. She was almost tempted to call a cab by now, the bus was unusually late, or at least compared to the stated time that it was supposed to be here. But Elazu wanted to ride on the bus, so she would hold out for now.

Rebelli0N
Through the afternoon drizzle Caden ran. Through the flashing lightning and blaring thunder he dashed. Under trees, over rocks, and above streams -- all without moving his feet. The shadows of that bus stop bench loomed ever closer, with a shivering black mountain resting on its surface. A normal little boy would have been afraid. A normal little boy would have been way more than drenched after standing for an hour under the pouring sky. However, Caden wasn't afraid. He'd seen this all somewhere before. He's stood in the rain some years ago, though he didn't know when that was, for he was only 16 months old. As he got closer, the mountain became a volcano, with steam steadily rising out of the top, and -- reaching with his left hand -- Caden clenched his puny fingers tightly around boulders and cliffs of 70% cotton, 25% polyester, and 5% nylon.

Sika-chan
Risika jumped, a surprised squeak escaping her lips as she turned around to see what was behind her. Her eyes widened as she caught sight of what seemed to be a cloudy boy.

" Uhmmm. Hi?" Whatelse could she say? What else could she do without freaking Elazu out.

Elazu peered out from his mother's coat, smiling up at the fog. " Hi foggy!" So innocent...

Rebelli0N
Believe it or not, Caden was equally surprised by the moving volcano. Because volcanoes usually didn't move, not like this one had. In a second or two he was face to face with two... things. Caden didn't quite know what to call them, since they didn't look very much like himself nor feel very much like himself (or Ethan, for that matter). This strange confrontation lasted only a few moments, and the following steps went something like this:
1 Caden's mouth drops wide open, and his eyes darken and light up over and over again in silent alarm as...
2 Risika attempts to say something, not really getting much out before...
3 Caden's body "configuration" sinks inwards, creating a swirling cloud of fog along with a *puhhg* sound and...
4 Ethan comes a-slipping by and stops himself by crashing head-over-heels into the bench

Sika-chan
" What the hell was that," she muttered, eyes now staring at a cloud of fog that was on the bench. She couldn't believe that there had been a child floating there and not a moment later it was just a cloud of fog. What was that?

" Mama, watch your language." Elazu snickered, leaning forward so he could run his hand through the fog. " Don't be scared Foggy."

Rebelli0N
Recovering from his fall, Ethan tapped Risika on the shoulder.
"That would be Caden. I'm sorry to bother you, but we'll be moving along now."
He turned to the mysterious cloud of fog, and discovered little Elazu swinging his arms in and out of what's supposed to be a little boy with blond hair and turquoise eyes.
"Come along and put on your poncho, now. I've gotten all tired running around looking for you, buddy. *pause* No, nothing's going to happen. We're walking back home, so you better put this one before you get any wetter."
The boy with an easily-recognizable turned once again to face Risika.
"I'm sorry, um, I hope he wasn't any trouble for you, um, well, good bye!"
Though he said goodbye for the both of them, Caden -- still a floating bunch of fog -- didn't move. Ethan straightened up, and smoothed down his brown hair which had gotten messy in his rush to search for Caden. He spoke to the haze laying on the bench like it was a completely normal thing to talk to fog, as if he's been doing this for about 16 months.
"I'm going then. And I'm calling a cab. You can stay here yourself."

Sika-chan
Risika tilted her head to the side in curiousity. Apparently this guy was caretaker of the fog creature. Was the fog similar to Elazu? She looked down, seeing Elazu still poking at the fog, giggling each time he did.

"Elazu, please behave," she muttered, wrapping an arm around his waist and pulling him close again. " You need to stay close so you don't get too wet."

Elazu frowned up at his mother the turned back toward the fog, smiling at it as if it were still the image of the boy. " Hi foggy! I'm Elazu, what's your name Foggy?"

Rebelli0N
A bit torn between getting over his fright, the shock of Ethan's proposal (of leaving him alone at the bus stop), and a curious... thing with black spiky hair, Caden rose out of his puddle of fog. Two hands stretched out to two recipients -- both whom tickled Caden's baby-mind. His right hand, not quite completely there, towards Ethan, and his left hand, whole, towards Elazu. Ethan recognized this signal, which was meant to grant unequal importance to the "opposing sides": Caden wished to stay, and another contagious wave of curiosity washed over his young guardian.

"I guess we'll stay..." was the half-hearted response, for Ethan was already intrigued by Elazu's previously hidden tail. He lifted his head up for a moment, making eye contact with Risika, sharing his golden gaze. "Is he... yours?"

Sika-chan
Elazu grinned at the reappearing child. He knew that he would show himself again, he just needed some time.
" Hello Foggy, my name's Elazu." He held his left hand out toward the foggy child before him, a grin plastered upon his face.

Risika glanced up at Ethan, smiling gently. " I'm his guardian, yes. And I'm guessing this one is yours as well?" She smiled, a knowing look crossing her face, for she knew that the wispy child before them was like Elazu, very much like him.

Rebelli0N
Ethan was in space. What an odd thing to do on a rainy day, to find another spirit-child. This discovery was the only thing needed to excuse his hollow tone and words that bubbled out of his mouth without second thoughts.
"Yeah. This is Caden."
Ethan was visibly frozen to the ground, staring at Elazu.
"Hey Elazu, um, how are you?"
His voice took on a cooing tone, nothing like the voice that he uses to talk to Caden, mostly because he had no idea how to handle someone else like his very own baby of the London Fog.

Sika-chan
Elazu's emerald orbs flicked from Caden to Ethan, a curious expression crossing his face. Was the adult talking to him, and what a silly voice he had.
" I'm good! I like your foggy, he's nice. His name is Caden?" He had figured by now that maybe the foggy couldn't speak. He wasn't the same age as Elazu, so maybe he was too young?

Rebelli0N
"Yes his name is Caden. Actually, Caden would tell you himself, but I'm not sure if he could..."
As if he already detected where Ethan was headed in the conversation, Caden gently twisted his right "hand", reassuring everyone that yes, it was his name. Rest assured, however, that Risika wasn't the only one surprised. In fact, everyone was, even Caden himself.
"I guess he just doesn't like to talk much, then."
This time, the price was right. Caden's entire being lighted up as if he were the flashing lights in the antique American game show. With this sudden burst of excitement, the whole cloudy rainy pouring day seemed to brighten.
"How about you boys go play on the swings for a second? Risika, tell me about Elazu."

Sika-chan
Elazu watched Caden draw out his name in midair with wide eyes. What this child could do amazed him, he wished he could do something similar rather than just make his hands see through. He smiled, clapping his hands together at Caden's ability. He blinked, however, when told to play on the swings. Wouldn't he get soaked? He had no objection, but his mother might.

Risika sighed, ruffling Elazu's hair before setting him down on the ground. " You're already soaked to the bone as it is. Go ahead and play hunny."

Elazu grinned, running off toward the swings with glee, his arms out to his sides like make shift wings.

She smiled then turned her attention toward Ethan. " Well I got him from another spirit actually. It was all very interesting. How about you and Caden?"

Rebelli0N
"Another spirit? You mean, these aren't just, you know, mutated x-men-like children, right? I WAS a little bit suspicious, but then again, who knows if what you cannot see is really there or not, right? I mean, sure, you can tell when the wind is there because there is a physical, visible, response from everything else -- but PHEW spirits!"
The normally sexily-knows-it-all Ethan, in circumstances like these, had once again turned into a panting little kid. He was eager to find out more, because at this point in his life, Caden mattered a lot. Maybe even more than the newest line of Po(Ket) clothing. At Risika's question, Ethan could only scratch his head.
"You could say that I literally found him right under my nose at one point."

Sika-chan
Risika watched the man speak with a small smile. She always found it funny when people would just speak their minds and talk continuously. She nodded once he finished speaking. " Well I'm not too sure if he's a spirit. But his former caretaker was one. I'm guessing Elazu got his powers from him." She mused upon the idea then glanced over at Ethan. " Was he floating there or something?"

Rebelli0N
"Oh no. There was nothing there until I tripped over him."
Now that was an oxymoron, and Ethan knew. However, there was no real way to explain it. He didn't get it from another spirit or anything.
"Caden wasn't there, and then I tripped on him, and he was, you know?"
She definitely didn't know.
"So, how is it like having Elazu? I mean, though he and Caden are both quite a bit more special than other babies, they are still different."

While the "adults" chatted over by the soaked bus-stop-bench, Caden waited for Elazu to extend his hand from on top of a swing. As in, he can't get up that high by himself, but the toddler could.

Sika-chan
Risika nodded, for she basically understood what Ethan meant. The spirit that had given Elazu to her, was basically the same way. For a second he was there, then not a moment later, he was gone. She smiled once the subject was changed to Elazu.

" Elazu is fairly easy going. However, he likes to pick on his 'brothers' and play tricks on them. Its fun to watch them play, but I do have to step in once and a while when things get a bit out of hand. How about Caden?"

Elazu smiled down at Caden, extending his hand toward the child. He wasn't sure if Caden could get up by himself, seeing that he was floating around so much earlier, but the way he was waiting made him figure he needed help now.

" Up you go!" Elazu smiled over at Caden, kicking his feet forward and backward gently to make his swing move slowly.

Rebelli0N
"Caden -- and myself -- are the only children. My parents are in America, and, well, they don't really know that I've got some kind of a fog-kid following me around. You know, Caden's pretty independent. I mean, he IS loving, and I can definately say I'd much rather have him than some normal child... but it seems awkwards sometimes because he knows so much more and understands more than a normal baby should."
Ethan appeared to be rambling on again, but this time, it was in a confession-like manner.
"See, I think this is the worst thing I do: there are parties Monday nights, and they're pretty much scheduled to happen every Monday night. So I go, right? But he NEVER complains, and he takes care of himself just fine... reminds me kinda of what I had to do when I was little."

With Elazu's help, Caden pulled himself onto the swing, and sat down beside the toddler. He looked over at where Risika and Ethan were still chatting, and felt just dandy. Then the swing started to swing. Caden, not knowing that swings swung, held on to the rope on his side and shut his eyes tight.

Sika-chan
" Counting myself, and all of the kidlets scurrying around the house, there are six of us." She smiled sheepishly, for she always got amazed stares whenever she said how many of them there were. " I don't have to worry about leaving Elazu alone, he's got about four brothers to take care of him whenever work demands me to be elsewhere."
She shrugged, for it was hard. " But I agree, Elazu is very smart, and very mature for his age. I can't tell you how long it took me to get that sort of maturity out of my teen."

Elazu blinked a few times then stopped kicking his legs, slowing down the swing so that Caden wouldn't be scared.

" It's ok! I'll swing nice for you." He smiled brightly, showing that he ment every word
.

Rebelli0N
"Yeah..."
Ethan's mind blanked out as the sun peeked out after the sudden shower. Luckily, Risika was happily distracted by the two children playing on the swings. It took a while for the youth to notice, but he slowly turned his attention (or what was left of the attention span that he had on a Friday afternoon -- Ethan usually naps around this time) towards the swing set.

At Elazu's reassurance, Caden opened up an eye. The older boy was encouraging, reassuring, and, well, way more experienced than little Caden. So like the good boy he is, Caden opened his other eye. When he released the rope slightly... JUST SLIGHTLY, dark pink lines could be seen on his pudgy left hand. Teal eyes the color of sunlight filtering through the ocean looked once more at the shadow-child. Caden was ready to swing.

Sika-chan
Risika shielded her eyes from the sudden sunlight. Nevertheless she smiled, for sunlight meant that Elazu wouldn't be entirely frozen to the bone from the rain. Thinking of this made her turn her attention toward the swings then to her watch. She was glad to have met Ethan and Caden, and yet she still wondered why the bus was taking so long. She really should have walked instead of breaking under Elazu's pleads.

Elazu smiled warmly at Caden before kicking his feet once more. He did so gently, knowing that the young boy wouldn't like going to the heights Elazu usually went to on his own. Soon they were swinging gently back and forth while Elazu hummed a soft tune that seemed to go along with his kicks.

Rebelli0N
"Are you waiting for someone? Or just the bus that never came?"
Ethan grinned as he finished his sentence, remembering one of the few times he's made a mistake like that. Taking his cell phone out of a pocket, Ethan pressed a button on the side, and the date and time flashed on the front display.
"Wow, it's later than I thought... but it looks like they're having a great time, doesn't it?"
He pointed over the spirit-children.

Elazu did it just swell this time. Caden could feel the soft wind puffing against his face, like a playmate. Naturally, he relaxed, and dangled his tiny feet off the side of the swing, and went higher and higher with the shadow-boy next to him. Then a tune came through the air. With his eyes closed, Caden followed the tune, and when he could, the little fog-baby joined in.

Sika-chan
" The bus that never came," she replied softly, smiling. " We were going to walk home, and it would have been a much shorter wait, but." She smiled as she looked over Elazu and Caden. " Elazu had seen a bus fly past us, and once I explained to him what it was, he wanted to ride home in one." She shrugged, for it couldn't be helped, she was a sucker for his puppy eyes sometimes, and he was having a lot of fun with Caden. She was glad that they had stopped.

Elazu smiled brightly as he heard Caden slowly join in his song. Not too many people could sing his made up tunes, so when finally he found someone who caught on so soon, it made him very happy. He continued to kick his legs back and forth, his tune becoming a bit louder and happier as he grew some confidence. He risked taking the swing a bit higher this time around, but their height was nothing compared to what kind of air he could get on his own.

Rebelli0N
From their conversation, Risika couldn't have known that he hadn't ever taken the public bus before, Ethan thought to himself smugly. Then he felt just a tad bit disgusted at himself, but that feeling passed, as it often does when his conscience likes to creep up on him.
"So, when're you planning to go? When the next bus comes?"
A little skeptical that any sort of a bus will stop by soon, Ethan just had to ask.

The ground grew further away, and bigger. To Caden's baby mind, he was floating a billion feet meters off the ground, not sitting on some "swing" thingamabob.

FLASHBACK: I rose and rose and rose. Away from the ground. Up from the ground. I didn't used to be there, but when it left, I was there. And it wasn't there anymore. I wasn't wet.
Confused, little Caden looked around for something familiar without realizing that his physical and mental track of time had been disturbed. Some sort of a memory had been triggered by the swing ride, and all of a sudden everything looked strange. The tune that both boys were humming along to was lost among the water -- left by the recent rain -- returning to the sky.

Sika-chan
A happy, yet annoying jingle broke the silence. Riiska cursed under her breath and quickly fished a cell phone out of her pocket, fumbling slightly as she tried to pry it open. No one usually called her cell phone unless..

" Hallo?" She paused listening to a frantic voice on the other end, a male voice and yet it sounded rather young, older than Elazu and Caden by far, but it still had a young tint to it. Risika's eyes went wide and she quickly answered the voice in frantic tones which could be recognized as German by the trained ear. She tried to calm the voice on the other end then soon hung up the phone, placing it into her pocket.

" I'm terribly sorry, but something very important has come up and we need to be going. Family emergency." She looked worried and flustered as she stood, calling out to Elazu. " It was nice to meet you," she fumbled with her wallet, pulling out a jet black business card with golden writing upon it. She held it out toward Ethan, smiling as best she could. " I would love to get the boys together again. My home phone number is on there." Gathering herself together, she stood from the bench, calling out to Elazu once more.

Elazu frowned from the swing, glancing back at Risika. He didn't want to leave, he was still playing! But as he caught sight of her worried expression he quickly jumped down from the swing, biting on his bottom lip. " Sowwy Caden, I gots to go." He held out his hand toward the fog child to help him down, he wasn't about to leave him up there.

Rebelli0N
"Hey, no problem, don't worry about it."
Though the young Ethan attempted to reassure Risika, he could not help but worry about the voice behind the urgent call.
"It WAS really nice to meet you, and I'll be sure to call. Will everything be okay? Want me to call for a cab?"
Of course, he had to make sure. The black card sliding into his back pocket wasn't assurance enough that he'll actually see Risika and Elazu again. Besides, there was that genuine concern that people usually have for a friend.

Recovering from his little episode, Caden judged from Elazu's uncommon frown that something was definitely wrong. He reluctantly accepted help down from the swing, and the two children headed towards the bench, where their respective guardians waited.

Sika-chan
Risika smiled, a thank you behind the smile. " One of my sons," she paused, trying to think of a way to explain it. " My eldest is babysitting his brothers while I went out with Elazu, and one of them is having an episode." She would explain the episode but it was way too long of a story. He had night terrors and visions apparently that would make him scream bloody murder. Why? No one knew, not even the doctors.

Once Elazu got back to the bench, Risika scooped him up, hefting him onto her hip. " It'll be fine as soon as I get home and take care of it," she sighed a bit, tired and worried. She thought about the cab offer. It would be nice to ride instead of walk, but by the time it would probably get here and get going, she could already be home, they weren't that far.

" No thats alright. We're close to our house, thanks though." She smiled and bowed her head before waving toward Caden. " Good bye, hope to see you both again."

Elazu clung to his mother's side, watching Caden and Ethan silently. He would like to keep playing, but Risika wanted to get home, so he would just have to leave with her. " Bye bye Foggy!" He waved frantically before Risika turned and headed down the street. He laid his head on Risika's shoulder. Hopefully he would see Caden again in the future.

Rebelli0N
Like many people, Risika had her reasons for both going home and rejecting the cab offer; and like the good celebrity's kid he is, Ethan didn't ask to find out more.

Caden, watching Elazu being carried away, waved back awkwardly (as if he's never had to wave goodbye to someone before). The dark-haired boy called him "Foggy", and Caden had a feeling that this wasn't going to be the last time someone called him by that name. Caden waved again as Ethan took him up on his shoulders, and walked slowly back towards the dorm.

THE END.

It was the kind of day when doing nothing basically constituted doing something, and Isaiah was happily Doing Nothing. Uziri was in her makeshift carrier at his side, happily nestled into a nest of blankets in her beat-up old cardboard box. The sun was beginning to set, but gave enough light to the world to point out the paradox of a vampire wandering freely in sunlight.

It was times like this Isaiah dwelled on the amusing notion that evidently he was supposed to burst into flames or something if sunlight touched him.

"And that's just silly, ain't it, Zee?" he asked the baby.

"Frrrt," Uziri sagely replied, her purplish, wriggly shadow-aura wiggling in grave amusement.

"Right. That's what I say."

Quote:

Risika and Elazu were walking down the street, hand in hand. The pair was usualy found around this, mainly due to the fact that Elazu hated being out in the sun, and because hiw gaurdian hated it aswell, for reasons he didnt understand.

Nevertheless, he skipped happily at her side, singing a tune that only he knew while all his gaurdian could do was smile and make sure she had a good hold of his hand.

Quote:

Uziri heard the singing and gave a toothless grin at the sound of it. Pretty! Sure, she didn't understand a word of it, but she liked it.

"Bnah," she burbled urgently at Isaiah. She wanted to see the singing thing, but it was getting Big Thing to understand her desires that was the hard part. "Bnah!"

"What is it, Zee?" Isaiah asked warily. He was never sure what the baby wanted, and this occasion was no exception.

"BNAH!"

Quote:

As the pair made their way past the burbling child and other vampire, Elazu stopped, his humming becoming slower as he caught sight of the box. With baby noises coming from, his young mind could only think of one thing.

" Mister mister! Are you giving away puppies?!" Elazu broke free or Risika's hand, making his way hurriedly towards the box, peering in. His large smile curled into a confused one as he saw that it was a child before him, not a litter of puppies.

Risika frowned, calling after Elazu as he ran towards the stranger. She sighed, chasing after him at a small jog. As she came closer to the man, however, she frowned slightly becoming very wary.
" Elazu don't bother strangers please, its very rude." She smiled apologetically. "I'm sorry, he's very curious."

Quote:
"Bwuh?"

Isaiah's response was hardly the most intelligent, and he was perfectly aware of this. He cleared his throat and hoped the kid's companion hadn't heard him, and shook his head.

"Puppies? Heh, no...that's Uziri."

He noted the woman's expression and grinned slightly, trying to look as non-threatening as possible. Given his demeanor, this wasn't too hard.

"It's not a big deal," he said. "No harm done."

Uziri's eyes widened and she stared at the new creature. It wasn't big, but it wasn't small. It didn't look pleased to see her, but she was greatly pleased to see it- it was new, and fluffy (that hair! Oh, she wanted to pull it!), and it had come to visit her.

"Bnaaaaah!"

Quote:
Elazu watched the baby for a moment then grinned widely, holding out a hand toward the baby, waggling his fingers.

" Hellooo there Uzzy!"

Risika smirked, a hand on her hip as she watched her social butterfly play with the baby.
" Uziri? Thats a really interesting name. His name is Elazu, while I'm Risika. Sorry to barge in on your quiet time."

Quote:
Uziri's shadow-aura wiggled in joy as she basked in the attention, grabbing up towards Elazu and smiling wide.

"Bnah!" she repeated, enthralled. Fluffy Thing liked her!

"It suits her, I think," Isaiah said, looking down at the baby. "I'm Isaiah. Nice to meet you."

At the words 'quiet time', Iz couldn't resist a laugh.

"No no, nothing of the sort. Zee doesn't know the meaning of the word 'quiet', I'm afraid."

He glanced down at Elazu and noticed the tail for the first time. Not wanting to seem like he was giving Risika a once-over, he nodded casually at the appendage and resisted the urge to check if the woman had one too.

"Nifty tail."

Quote:
Elazu stared at the child, his eyes growing slightly wider with excitement. He liked how babies always seemed to be thrilled by the littlest things. His own mother always told him that he was the same way, but it was different when he could entertain babies. He let the baby take hold of his hand, his eyes glancing at the shadowy form that wiggled around her.

" I agree. Not that I know the child much, but it's a lovely name." She laughed softly, remembering how fussy and talkative Elazu was when he was a baby. She knew exactly what Isaiah was talking about. A smirk crossed her lips as her own tail flicked out from behind her, the splitting image of Elazu's.

" It is indeed. Odd that of all things we would have a similar tail." She shrugged, choosing to sit down since Elazu seemed to be in no mood to leave any time soon. " So how did you happen to become caretaker of your little one?"

Quote:
With an utterly contented burble, Uziri yanked Elazu's arm down and commenced to gnawing on his fingers. Her expression was delighted - Fluffy Thing was nice, very nice indeed.

Isaiah eyed Risika's unexpected limb with interest, then took a seat on the opposite side. He looked down into the box, sighing and poking Uziri.

"Zee. Let go of the poor kid."

He sighed again and rolled his eyes, grinning ruefully.

"Honestly? I was followed home one night. By a...floating rock. I went home, fell asleep and woke to a giant hole in my door, and there she was sitting on my bed," he said. "Interesting to say the least...how 'bout you?"

Quote:
A surprised squeak escaped Elazu's lips as Uziri began gnawing on his fingers. He had forgotten that most babies don't have teeth, and had expected many of them to pierce his fingers.

He smiled in response, starting to make funny faces at the babe, utterly thrilled that she liked him so much.

" A floating....rock? Well that is interesting..." She thought back upon the day she had recieved Elazu, smiling fondly at the memory. " A spirit gave him to me. He said 'Take care of me', so I think ELazu is his reincarnation..." She shrugged not truly understanding what Elazu quite was yet. Reincarnation? Or a sort of shadow clone?

Quote:
Uziri giggled at the faces, relinquishing her hold on Elazu's arm to clumsily clap her hands.

"Bfft!" she said, giggling louder. Beneath her, the shadow-aura wiggled, its"tentacles" writhing and twisting.

"Wow...that's really something."

Isaiah glanced at Elazu curiously. For all anyone knew, maybe he was the reincarnation of some big, mysterious and all-powerful spirit creature. Or, maybe he was just a kid with a tail that had a knack for making babies laugh. Either or. Laughing a bit belatedly, Isaiah ran a hand over his hair and sighed again.

"It was stranger to see than you'd think," he said. "The floating rock, I mean. Almost kinda creepy...but yeah."

Quote:
Elazu grinned as he took his hand back, clapping his own hands together quickly. He instantly stopped, however, once he felt Uziri's drool dripping down his hands.

" Eewww," he muttered, wiping both of his hands on his pant legs. His emerald eyes flicked toward the aura thing that seemed to be attached to the baby. He arched a brow, reaching to touch it, if he would be allowed.

" Yea, really weird. But I trust him." She smiled again, looking over at Isaiah as he spoke about the floating rock experience. " I personally would have just freaked out." She laughed, then added, " Especially if it was following me."

Quote:
"Ewwuuuwa," Uziri attempted to parrot, looking up at Elazu adoringly. As he reached for the aura, the baby giggled and shifted slightly. A smoky, transparent tentacle reached out and wrapped loosely 'round Elazu's wrist, but it didn't maintain its hold for long. It was a bit of an effort, and to her it felt exactly like muscles straining from reaching too far.

"Gnrrf," Uziri said solemnly.

"I ran away from it," Isaiah said, laughing a little self-consciously. " 'Course, the guy that got her twin...sister, I'm guessing, he got knocked in the head with a rock instead, so I guess being chased wasn't so bad in the long run."

Quote:
Elazu watched the tenacle, moving his fingers slightly as he watched the tenacle slide over his skin.

" Oooh thats cool!" He grinned, moving his hand to pet the child's curly head. " You're cute!" He was deffiantely liking this baby, he hoped that after meeting her he would see her again.

" I don't blame you, I would have ran too." She winced at the thought of being hit in the head with a rock. " Is her 'twin' a bit more aggressive?" She laughed softly. " Because that would for sure be a good sign to it."

Quote:
Uziri puffed up in babyish pride, preening. Her visitor was impressed, this was good! Maybe he'd want to visit her again if he thought she was cool.

"Gnaah," she said, reaching up for Elazu and making grabby hands. "Uppie!"

Isaiah thought on it, then shook his head.

"I dunno, really," he said. "Irizu seemed calm enough...though I didn't get to look her over too close, so you never know. She could be the evil twin."

He glanced down at Uziri.

"Though with my kind of luck, Zee might be the one that grows up to be a nutcase," he said fondly.

Quote:
" Uppie? Maaamaaa! Zee wants uppie." He looked back towards his mother, not really knowing what to do.

Risika looked back at Elazu, " Thats up to her dad, hunny." She turned to Isaiah, shrugging slightly. " Things do have a way to turn out totaly different from what they seem don't they?"

Elazu huffed then got up, walking over to the man. " Uhm Zee's dad. She wants uppie?"

Quote:
"Uppie? Oh yeah, alright. C'mere, Zee."

Isaiah lifted Uziri out of the box, but almost simultaneously the baby started squirming and wiggling, trying to get out of his grasp.

"Dowwie! Dowwie!"

"Put you down? But I just...oooh, I get it," Iz said, and gently set the baby on the ground beside Elazu. "You don't wanna hang out with me anymore, huh?"

Uziri grinned and crawled unsteadily to Elazu, sitting down on top of his feet and craning her head back to look at him.

"Zu!" she said.

Quote:
Risika smiled softly, ruffling Elazu's hair.
" Be gentle with her."

Elazu giggled at the babe in his lap before turning to his mother, " You know I will Mama." He turned his eyes back onto Uziri, smiling widely at her before reaching out to pick her up. As he lifted her up, with a bit of an effort, he kept his legs on her belly, so that if he lost his grip she would be caught by his legs. Content that he hand a good hold of her, his hands holding her up by her armpits, he helped her stand, her feet dancing on his lap.

" Looky! You're walking!" He snickered, moving her a little, as if she were dancing.

Quote:
Uziri burbled in astonishment as Elazu lifted her up, kicking her legs experimentally. Was this walking, then?

"Walwa!" she chirped, laughing aloud. Huh! Walking wasn't so hard, then. She didn't think about what would happen should Elazu let go, however.

Quote:
Elazu snickered, bouncing Uziri a little before sitting her in his lap, his arms unable to take the strain for much longer. He beamed down at the babe, she was a lot more fun than he expected babies to be.

Quote:
Delighted she'd made such a lovely new friend, Uziri cuddled like a kitten against Elazu and burbled, pulling at his arms and hair when she could reach it. She poked and prodded experimentally, and noticed at last the strange transparency that seemed to afflict one of Elazu's hands. Her expression grew dramatically shocked and she poked at the hand, wondering if it was injured.

Quote:
Elazu smiled, his eyes narrowing as he took a moment to concentrate and make his hand not solid. He watched with amusement as Uziri's hand went through his hand. He seriously hoped that this wouldn't frighten the child, but he figured that if the fact that his hands were see-through didn't scare her, then maybe the fact that he could make them solid and then not solid upon cue, wouldn't faze her at all.

Quote:
Uziri gave a delighted shriek, clapping her hands awkwardly and positively bouncing. What a wonderful trick! How amazing! What wonderful uses it could have, what with cookie jar raiding or stealing small animals out of cages or dozens and dozens of other things....

"Ag'in! Ag'in! Mo'!" she commanded blithely, eyes wide.

Quote:
Elazu beamed. She liked it! This made him happy, and with her demands for him to do it again, he tapped his chin in thought. His finger passed in and out of his chin, leaving a ghostly trail, or an after image as it did, thats when he remembered something else he could do.

With a swift clap of his hands, he began to draw in the air in front of Uziri. His hand movements were very careful, and his brow was fixed in concentration as he drew. With every stroke a shadowy image floated in mid-air. His hands waved through the air swiftly and he pulled his hands back, looking at the image before him with a nod.

The image he had created was a stick figure drawing of what could be figured as Uziri. It wasn't anything amazing, but perhaps that he had created it out of thin air would be to her.

Quote:
Uziri gave an exaggerated gasp, jaw dropping and eyes widened painfully.

So. Neat.

"Zu eth....eth...Zu eth beth," she burbled. Elazu was the best! In reaction to a sudden onset of utter admiration, Uziri threw herself onto the boy and hugged him clumsily, accidentally drooling on him a bit but nonetheless highly affectionate. Almost like a puppy, really.

Quote:
Elazu gasped as Uziri threw herself at him, but he was soon returning her hug gently, a huge grin playing across his face. He liked Uziri and he liked how his powers didn't scare her.

He pulled back form Uziri and laid her back against his propped up knees.
" How about Uziri? What can you do?" He wasn't sure she could do anything, or that she could understand what he asked, but it never hurt to try. What especially caught his attention, was that aura that hung around her that seemed to have a life of its own.

Quote:
Gnawing toothlessly on the glowing skull-pendant 'round her neck, Uziri thought hard. What could she do? Other than emit horrid odors and sounds, as Isaiah liked to point out....

Oh.

"Uthiwi ca' do thih," she said, pushing away from Elazu and throwing herself forcefully backwards. It she had been a normal child, the impact no doubt would've caused a crack to her skull, but Uziri squeezed her eyes shut and her shadow-aura stiffened, tendrils going stick-straight, and caught her fall like a multitude of arms. With terrible effort that showed on her face, Uziri laboriously pushed herself back up and onto Elazu's lap again.

"Uthiwi go' shawoe-t'ings," she said proudly. "Uthiwi go' es-tra arms."

Quote:
Elazu gasped, trying to catch Uziri before she hit the ground. What was she doing?! But before he could even react he watched her aura come to life and catch her. A sigh of relief escaped his lips as Uziri returned to his lap. He placed his hands on his knees, making his arms like bars on a bed in case she fell again.

" Thats awesome Uziri!" He couldn't help it, curiosity got the best of him, so he poked the aura yet again, watching it in awe. " But don't do that again! You scared me. Gimme a warning next time."

Glass Crow
Pleased at the response, Uziri simple gave a gurgling giggle and looked up at Elazu innocently. A moment later she gave a yawn that nearly split her head, and awkwardly knuckled her eyes. All this excitement was beginning to wear her out...

Isaiah, who'd been watching and had had a heart attack of his own when Uziri had pulled her little trick, noted this.

"We should probably get going soon..."

Sika-chan
Elazu snickered and patted Uziri's head. He watched yawn with a small frown. " Uh oh. You'se tired now huh?"

Risika nodded, smiling friendly. " Alright then, we should probably get home before they send a search party for us anyway. Elazu, Uziri needs to go back to her daddy now."

Elazu frowned, he had figured she would just nap and they can play again, but apparently not. He looked back at Uziri and gave her a quick peck on the forehead. " Bye, bye Uziri. I sees you later." He hefted her up and wobbled over toward her father, holding her out with a smile. " He' go."
