Aislinn leaned against the window, peering out as the helicopter circled the island to get to it's proper position. The place was beautiful. A tropical haven. She wished she'd thought to bring some bugspray, but perhaps the hospital gift shop would have some.

Finally. She'd be free. They were going to do some new surgery on her and get her pelvic bone completely fixed. She'd been surprised by the phone call-- afterall, they had told her a few years ago that there was nothing they could do past the last surgery she'd had. The thing just did not want to heal properly.

Sighing, she waited for the thing to land, and quickly un-did her buckle when it did. She was used to flying, but she had to admit that the helicopter was a lot bumpier than the rides she was used to...and the jostling about hadn't done much good for her already rather painful limbs.

She took up her cane and used it as well as the 'oh shite' handles to get herself on her feet, clambering clumsily out of the 'copter.

Sabin Duvert, clad in his more somber clothes (consisting of a far outdated black suit and vest over a white dress shirt, complete with tophat), waited patiently for the helicopter to settle down. He had kept mostly to himself the past few days, imbedding himself back in his work after his rather awkward encounter with Sayuri. his work, his obsessions, if nothing else, were a wonderful distraction from the awkward affairs of the heart.

And so, as the young woman emerged in the opened door of the helicopter, Sabin quickly went to her side to aide her, eager to get her started on the process that he had already been detailing in his mind. She was a perfect canidate for a serum he had done some preliminary work with in the laboratories - and already started a few serums similar to it. Admittedly, neither of the "mer" serums had progressed past 50% at best, the process so far was looking optimistic. And the other tauric serum also seemed to be going well so far... all his calcuations and predictions through simulations seemed to bode well for the liklihood of a true centauric serum to work. Sure, it would have been "safer" .... or "more logical" to wait until Cody, Sayuri and Joshua had completed their transformations, but it would take months! He didn't have the patience for that.

So with a genuinely excited smile, Sabin offered his hand to Aislinn. "Mis Derry, what a pleasure to meet your aquaintance. My name is Dr. Duvert, and welcome to the facility!"

Aislinn smiled. Well, while the man seemed a little odd, she was used to odd characters in the raves she went to. Besideswhich, he seemed nice enough, and at least he'd come over to help her walk off the helicopter pad.

She took the offered hand,
"Thank you. No need for so much formality on your part, you can just call me Aislinn. Tell me, am I going to be able to enjoy the beauty of this island while I'm recuperating from the surgery?"

Sabin tried to assist her dismount from the steps of the helicopter as he spoke.

"Very well then, Aislinn, it's niec to meet you. And of course you can. It's part of the whole package you might say. This is a state of the art medical facility, and we couldn't think of a better place to host it than a spactacular tropical island. We've seen that the setting is almost as theraputic as the surgeries itself." He said with a soft chuckle.

"I can help you with your things, and then it's just a short jeep ride to the labs. All that we need to do today is a preliminary injection, and then I can get you to where you'll be staying and you can recouperate for a few days before we begin anything streneous."

The woman nodded, smiling,
"Ah, my thanks. I was wondering how I'd manage the luggage-- I had to get one of the flight attendants to help me get it out of the taxi and such for the plane."

Her eyes took in the rich colour palette of the island, and she was pleased. This would certainly be a lovely place to stay until she'd recovered from her surgeries and before that. She could spend all day on that beach, that was for sure. She wondered briefly if they had a karaoke bar, but she figured probably not, this wasn't a city, afterall.

"Is there a list of things to do while I'm here, before the surgery?"

The luggage didn't seem to phase Sabin as he loaded it up into the back of the open-top jeep.

"There's not an itenerary per se, but you've got free roam of the island and the various activities. We've got a cafeteria, beach bar, swimming in the lake or at the beach.... and then an entertainment room and an arcade, and a fitness room." He ticked off some of the things on his fingers.

He escorted her to the passenger's seat of the jeep, and then took his place in the driver's. Turning the key and starting the ignition, he gestured to the trees. "And of course, if you're feeling daring, there's the jungles. There are a few small paths, but there are still frequently roots along the way, so you might want to wait until a bit further into your physical therapy."

Aislinn nodded,
"Are there tour guides for the jungle? That would be fabulous. If not, I think I'll stick to the more populated areas. Wouldn't want to run into anything poisonous, and I'm sure there are at least a few nasty critters out there."

She followed the man, taking him in as well. He seemed interesting enough, and he'd been quite nice to her...besides, he was the one who was going to cure her of this horrid infirmity, and nothing could give him more brownie points than that!

"A beach bar, mm? I'll have to look into that for sure. Do they have a lot of variety? I have some pretty odd tastes in mixed drinks when I'm in the mood."

He gunned the motor and set off down one of the narrow jungle roads at an even pace. The island was dripping with humidity, and the roads were full of muddy patches - it looked as if it had just gotten over a rather heavy rain.

"There are only a couple species of venomous snakes out there.. and we've yet to have any incidents, but it can never hurt to play it safe. And as far as tour guides..." Sabin mused on the village residents "There's a woman living in duplex 8, Emelyn, that knows the jungles pretty well." He smiled.

Bird calls sounded from the thicks of the canopy, and the water-laden leaves rustled in the ocean breeze. "And it's an open bar - we've got a wide variety and visitors are encouraged to mix their own drinks to their heart's content. Though of course in moderation.."

The drive was pleasant enough - fortunately the wind through the seats of the open-topped jeep helping alleivate some of the heat, and eventually the large gates surrounding the labs broke the tree-line, swinging open as the jeep drove through.

Sabin parked in a small lot outside of a large laboratory facility with mirrored glass built into the side of a mountain.

Aislinn nodded, trying to remember the name Emelyn and the Duplex number. She'd have to be sure to look the girl up for a tour of the jungle, if she was that familiar with it.
"Are there a lot of other patients staying here, then?"

Well, at least she wouldn't be too bored. She climbed out of the Jeep with only a little of difficulty and looked about her. This didn't look too much like any hospital she'd ever seen, but then, the surgery was still fairly experimental so it might be that they hadn't taken it too far from the laboratory it was created in yet.

"We've actually got quite the population here." Sabin confirmed, offering her his arm as he led her towards a sliding, mirrored door.

"A lot of rare conditions as well. We're, as I'm sure you've been told, a cutting edge facility, testing out a lot of procedures that are brand new... some of them still in very much in the experimental stage. So... you might see some individuals here that are rather... strange looking. But they can be self-conscious about it - beneath their conditions they're people like you and me. But I'm sure you don't need to be told that."

He led her through a plush lobby without stopping, down a sterile hallway and to an elevator that dinged open as they approached.

"Floor 8" he spoke clearly as the machine surged to motion.

Aislinn nodded. Poor people. She supposed some of them were victims of, say, fires or chemical burns or cancer or something horrible and disfiguring, the way that Sabin was talking. She could be tactful, when it was called for, so she'd try not to stare or anything. Though sometimes it was hard,

"I see. Yes, that makes sense. I'll try not to upset any of your patients."

At least -she- still looked normal. Even the bones that had been crushed now looked perfectly normal to someone looking at her. It was only on the inside that things were a bit wonky.

"Any idea when the surgery will happen?"

"We'll want to look over your records more in-depth, and moniter your condition over the next couple of days." Sabin explained as the elevator dinged open into a large laboratory room.

He stepped out and gestured to a chair. "You can feel free to take a seat- this will just take a moment." He commented aside as he walked over to and opened a cabinet full of vials before continuing.

"And we'll want to give you time for the preparatory injection to take root. You might feel feverish for a few days, but it will help prep your system for the surgery."

He plucked one of the vials from the cabinet, looking it over and double-checking the label. An only partially-concealed fond smile found his face for a few moments as he ran a finger down its label before pulling out a syringe from a plastic coating, and drew the liquid into the tube.

Aislinn took a seat in the chair he'd motioned to, and nodded. She knew enough to realize that shots were generally giving you a small dose of a virus so that you could develop immunity to whatever.

Though, he'd said the shot was to prepare her system for the surgery. She wasn't sure how -that- worked, but supposed it must be part of the experimental procedures.

"That sounds like a plan. Hopefully I won't be too feverish to enjoy the beach," she laughed.

"I'm sure you won't" He chuckled as he swabbed her arm with the cotton, and expertly slid the needle into her tricep. There was a pinch, a spreading warmpth, and then he retracted the needle and swabbed her arm again before tossing both the syringe and the cotton away.

"There we go - that wasn't so bad, was it?" He smiled.

"Most only have a fever for the first night. And there is a small clinic in the town center that can give you tylenol or other over-the-counter medication if you have need."

He dusted off his hands. "And now, if you're ready, I can take you to your room."

The woman nodded, smiling,
"I'll head there then, get some just in case. You never know when you'll have a headache anyways, and I didn't think to bring any with me."

She stood up, grabbing the cane again and straightening herself out a bit,
"Thank you, doctor. This whole thing...it means a lot to me. I'm glad I've managed to get here....and yes, I'd love to get to my room, unpack and relax a bit. That helicopter ride was pretty crazy."
