I'm at the library at least three days a week, and I still manage to accumulate library fines, and always when I'm out of cash. o_O;
Luckily, as an employee I get my library fines waived--when I remember to ask, anyway.

Heh, I once misplaced a book, and by the time we found it (it was at my friend's house in a closet or something o_O), I owed over $15 in late fees. sweatdrop

I usually return my books on time or renew them. Last time I remember having a fine was when I was working on a research paper and forgot about leaving one of the books in my bag until it was like a week overdue and I received a letter about it in the mail. Searching the whole house I finally remembered the last place I had it.

Sir Ichigo I'm at the library at least three days a week, and I still manage to accumulate library fines, and always when I'm out of cash. o_O; Luckily, as an employee I get my library fines waived--when I remember to ask, anyway. I need to work at the library... as soon as it becomes legal for me to get a job, that is. (I'm under 16... barely) I occasionally mislay something, and it usually stays missing. When I went to the library to pick up the three books I need to read/do work on for my Junior year (schoolwork already, curse it all... at least it has to do with books. 3nodding I ended up getting like four other books that I didn't need to read; Benjamin Franklin's biography and Thomas Jefferson's essays on humanity as well as the book I was supposed to get for history AP, a couple of Hemmingway's stories besides The Old Man and the Sea, etc. whee ) I had trouble finding them. When I finally got everything together, I went up to the Expressline, gave the lady my books, and proudly brandished my key-chain... except that my library card was gone. O.o My mother had stolen it a couple of days before. Luckily, when I turned around, she and my dad were there to let me know they were going out to dinner. They both gave me their cards, and I waited in line again... and both were unable to check out books because of late items. Both items were mine. stressed

I usually don't have to worry about fines at my school library. I don't have to pay them. Since I work for free there, the librarian does not care if a book is late. I treat my books well.

Kalile Alako I went up to the Expressline, gave the lady my books, and proudly brandished my key-chain... except that my library card was gone. If your library card number is printed on the card, I suggest you memorize it. x_x It will save you a world of trouble.

The only time that I need to pay a library fine is when we need to have a book for english. They always take longer to discuss the book than the library gives you time for! gonk

Oh, I just got a new card.
It wasn't my fault! My cousin borrowed books, then never returned them!
In my name!

Good idea. *memorizes furiously* I would love to own all the books I check out from the library, or have checked out more than once or something... but my house is already stuffed to the brim with books, and with as much as we check out from the library... eek There'd be no room for me or my family!

rofl rofl rofl
I work at my university's library at the circulation desk.
Meaning, I take in all of the fines.
I've seen upwards $250 for a single person.
I think our record high was something around $400
Your library probably has a renewal option on their website and you could always call in to renew them if you don't want to go in and do it yourself.
Sorry you lost money.

Sorry you lost money. O_O Jesus..... ~_~ I don't get to handle money..... I chase children out of the back room all day and relocate the occasional insect because the branch manager has a fit if you kill them.
