I saw a show about Rods once.
Some believe they're creatures too fast for the naked eye to see. Some think they're alien or from other dimensions, because they seem to appear and then vanish quickly in video (something about worm holes and black holes had to do with that-the way they were transporting). Others think they're just bugs, and that the camera isn't pulling in the image fast enough to capture it right.
There are documented cave drawings of Rod-like creatures. The reason ancient people could see so well is because they didn't have to use their eyes like we do today (reading, looking at computers, etc.)
They put two cameras side by side (one faster than the other), put out big lights to attract bugs, and let it sit out for a night. On one camera they seemed to have caught a Rod on film, but on the other it turned out to be a moth.
I'm not really decided on this topic. I'd really love for them to be real, though.
