Central Room
It had been far more than a 'long day'. Sunlight began to gleam through the windows of the Garden. The sky was slowly turning to that of a pale pink and the area began to calm at an alarming rate. It was nothing more than Leon wanted. All he needed was rest from the long night. Kairi was here to care for Seifer for the time being and Leon and Rinoa would prepare to leave Balamb as soon as he was forced saw Dr. Kadowski.
He turned to leave wordlessly with Rinoa in tow when a clattering on the bench sounded behind him. Slowly, Leon turned to see Seifer in yet another fit of convulsions and even self-mutilation.
"Seifer!" Leon yelled, rushing to the man's side. Quickly, the SeeD gathered Seifer in his arms and fled for the infirmary, only taking the time to call back to Rinoa and Kairi. "We need to get to the Infirmary now!"!

Central Room
Startled when Seifer fell onto the ground, with blood that seemed to be all over him, Rinoa automatically moved over to help him up when Squall was faster. He'd already picked up his friend and started towards the Infirmary, barking orders just like she had once remembered.
It used to annoy her on occasion, a long, long time ago, but now, it seemed like she kind of...missed it, somehow.
Nevertheless, she supposed that now wasn't the time to think about it. Seifer was in trouble, here.
Breaking into a run, Rinoa sprinted ahead, her footsteps light and swift even as she went ahead to inform Dr. Kadowaki of their arrival, hoping that whatever it was that plagued Seifer now would disappear quickly.

Physically, on the way to the Infirmary. Mentally, getting his a** kicked by Ultimecia
Seifer's body showed no response as he was picked up by his old friend and rushed to the Infirmary. His naturally tan coloring had faded to a pale, almost gray tone, the only real color coming from the blood flowing from his many new wounds. He seemed completely unaware of his surroundings, residing in a deep coma of mysterious orgins and even more mysterious length. Although his external appearance seemed relatively peaceful, his internal state was anything but...
Dammit, b***h, GET OUT OF ME!!!
And why would I do that? I OWN you, knight. You are MINE. And as mine, I can use you however I wish.
....Shut up. I'm not your puppet. ......And you're not using me to hurt my friends.....again. No amount of torture can stop me.......Oh Hyne, should NOT have said that!!!
The former knight's body shifted a little bit, and his mouth opened slightly. "Help me....." he whispered, only loud enough for Leon to hear it, before passing out again.

Central Room
Everything happened so fast.
The events weren't registering in Kairi's mind until after they had happened. Seifer on the ground, bleeding. Something was wrong...very wrong.
He's going to die.... a small voice in her head announced, causing her eyes to well up with tears. Why? Why was everything so diffcult now...? Aros...Sora and Riku...and now Seifer...why was this all happening to her...?
"We need to get to the Infirmary now!"
She stood helplessly as Leon rushed past her, carrying Seifer. Kairi caught a glimpse of her boyfriend's face as they rushed by. It was pale. Deathly pale. Covering her mouth with her hands, she forced back a sob and tightly closed her eyes.
Blood.
It was everywhere.
Why was this happening to her...?

Infirmary
It was all happening so fast... almost too fast. This was no different then how it used to be. Did they accomplish nothing by slaying Ultimecia in the Time Compression? Leon had relaxed for so many years when he simply assumed that Ultimecia was gone. How busy had she been? What was she up to? What was she planning?
The raspy whisper of Seifer's was barely audible but surely enough, it reached Leon's ears. Without looking down at his friend, the SeeD continued to run saying only, "I am Seifer. I am."
Why Seifer? Why now? Questions only buzzed through his head all the faster. What had caused Utlimecia to take over now? Perhaps it was how the magic affected Seifer, changing him into a teenager again or his arrival in Sinai. Whatever the reason, Leon was sure he'd discover it soon enough.
With Rinoa and Kairi in tow, Leon burst through the Infirmary door shouting for Dr. Kadowski. When no answer was heard, he found the first unoccupied room he could and gently lay Seifer on the bed. Immediately he began to rummage through the cabinets for any healing items he could find, finding only two potions and a remedy. Carefully, Leon took one potion and opened Seifer's mouth, allowing the liquid to drain down his throat. When the bottle was empty, he set it on a counter and sighed.
All they could do now was wait.

Infirmary, both physically and mentally
Where am I?
Groggy, tired emerald eyes opened slowly, taking in the small room as if they had never seen it before, or at least for quite a while. Weakly, Seifer scooted up the bed to try and sit up. In the back of his mind, he could hear the loud, abrasive screams of a certain visitor, yet he was unconcerned. b***h needs to shut up......I broke her control, there's no way she's controlling me anymore.....
Turning his head slightly, he could faintly read the digital clock near his bed. To his surprise, it stated it was three in the afternoon.......the day after him and Leon returned to Balamb Garden. And from what he could tell about his current condition, he would be spending at least a few more days in bed or resting in some way. Well, I can't complain......I came within a hair of dying multiple times after all.
After a few minutes of just lying there, slowly waking up after his long sleep, something hit him: s**t, where is everyone? "Kairi.......anyone? Where are you........?"

Infirmary
Relief washed over her at the sound of his voice, He's ok...! Kairi quickly jumped out of her seat, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. She had waited all night for any sign of him being better...and now a day later, he was finally awake.
Going over to the side of the hospital bed she smiled at him...before pouting quickly. "Hey! Lay back down! You're going to make yourself worse!" she put her hands on her hips and wagged a scolding finger at him. But she still smiled.
"I'm so happy you're ok, though....We really had us all worried."

Infirmary
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a red blur jump out of the chair next to the hospital bed. Turning his head slightly, he smiled when he saw it was Kairi. "Hey angel....were you there all night? Did I worry you?"
"Hey! Lay back down! You're going to make yourself worse!"
"Come on...." He smiled weakly, trying to placate her. "I've been lying down for a while...can't I catch a break?" Staying propped up his elbows for a little bit, he tried to show he was okay, but the growing pain from his mid-section made him realize that perhaps his girlfriend was right. "Ow....okay, okay, you win." Lying back down on the bed, he reached out and gently grasped her hand in his much larger one.
"I'm so happy you're ok, though....We really had us all worried."
"I'm sorry, angel......but I think everything will be okay now..." The loud screams in the back of his mind grew even more aggravating, but he chose to ignore it. I hope you like getting a taste of your own medicine, 'Mistress'....you'll be getting much more when I get you all the way out of my head... Had Kairi been a little closer or Seifer a little stronger, he would have brought her hand closer and softly kissed it, as a way of showing there was nothing to worry about. However, the situation being how it was, he was content to just gently rub it.
"I love you...." he whispered only so she could hear.

Balamb Garden; Infirmary
Relief washed over Leon's face as Seifer awoke and was happily greeted by Kairi. The apprehension in the room washed away with Seifer's voice. But... was Ultimecia truly gone? A dark, foreboding feeling squirmed around Leon's heart and mind. If she wasn't gone before, how could she be gone now? The SeeD would have to be prepared for her at all times, even while fighting the Heartless.
And Rinoa... She already hinted at what happened while Leon was gone in Balamb and obviously had no wish to stay, but what now? Where would they go?
Nevertheless, both Rinoa and Leon should leave Seifer and Kairi to themselves.
"Rinoa," Leon jerked his head to the door. "Why don't we decide what to do next?"
And with nothing else said, the man solemnly marched out the door in silence.

Infirmary
It was hard for her to hold back tears when he whispered to her, he had come so close to leaving her forever and just to have him back, smiling and happy was more then she could ever ask for.
"I love you too" she whispered back, a slight sob escaping from her throat. Kairi tried to hide her overwhelming joy earlier, but now it just overflowed. She couldn't help but smile a bit at how he was taking the situation, without a care in the world.
If she wasn't worried she would hurt him, Kairi would have hugged him very, very tightly.
"Don't ever scare us like that again...."

Balamb Garden, Central Room
With a whoosh, Selphie found herself in perhaps the largest room she had ever been in. She hadn't intended to leave Bevelle, but all the Heartless made her seriously worry for her safety. Plus....she had always wanted to come to Balamb, especially now that her friends Rinoa and Leon were there. I wonder if this is where I'm from too....it's awfully big...I could get lost soooooo easily. I should probably find them now...
Before she did, though, she twirled around, trying to get a good look at the entire room. When she thought she had a good enough mental picture, not to mention was signifcantly dizzy, she sat down on a bench and tried to focus on if the place was familiar or not. After five minutes of extreme concentration, she couldn't remember a single thing. Pouting, she got up the bench, and almost slipped on the floor. Geez, what did they do, super-clean this spot?
Skipping around the middle section, she smiled happily and waved at any students that passed her by. Still, nothing came to her. Just when she was about to get fustrated at her lack of memories, she ran straight into Leon, right in front of the infirmary.
"Oh, hi Leon!! Look, I'm all grown up now!! How's Rinoa doing?"
((Unlike the running gag with Yuffie, Selphie didn't tackle Leon. For those who haven't played FFVIII, adult Selphie isn't that big. lol))

Balamb Garden, Training Center
The first thing she saw when arriving at Balamb Garden was dirt. Dirt, tropical foilage, and gates used to keep the stronger enemies from the main path. It was a far cry from what she was used to, namely ornate castles, but luxury had to wait. Her main focus today was getting in undetected and grabbing the attention of her prey. The first part was done....now for the second.
Ultimecia stepped confidently through the training center, dispatching monsters left and right with a snap of her fingers. Her target was a pile of dry brush that was just begging to be set on fire. With another snap of her finger, a spark jumped and set the small pile on fire. With another snap, she set another, almost as dry, pile on fire, sending two flaming pilars to the top of the ceiling. When the alarm went off, sprinklers began to spray water, but were quickly shut off by her powers.
Smirking, the sorceress waited between the controlled pilars for reinforcements arrive. If the puny little cadets don't make it back, the commander will investigate.....and then my only opposition will be destroyed.

Intense relief at Seifer's recovery notwithstanding, Rinoa watched quietly as Seifer and Kairi had their moment, a soft, gentle smile tugging at her lips. They looked so happy together, and it seemed like Seifer looked so much happier with Kairi than he had been with anyone else, even her.
Looking over at Squall when he spoke, she simply nodded and followed after him, giving Kairi another smile before gently shutting the door behind her. Watching them together was a rather heartening experience, and in the back of her mind, she couldn't help but wonder if Squall would ever be like that. Not the whole getting wounded thing, because Rinoa would rather get hurt herself than to allow him to be wounded, but the whole...sentimental thing.
Then again, if Squall was ever sentimental, it would be a little odd, really. Smiling at the thought, and the fact that a girl could probably still dream, she turned to her own boyfriend.
Before she could take another step, however, she was greeted with a welcome sight, a grown up Selphie! Perking up considerably, Rinoa came up behind Squall.
"Selphie!" Rinoa greeted, her dark eyes twinkling. "I'm doing well, thank you. It's good to have you back."

"Selphie! I'm doing well, thank you. It's good to have you back."
"RINOA!!" Smiling from ear to ear, Selphie ran away from the SeeD commander and hugged her close friend. "I missed you!! I'm sorry I didn't come right back to Balamb with you and Leon. But I made new friends. Like Pooh, and Mr. Kitty, and these people in Bevelle....gosh, I hope they're okay..."
With a sad edge in her voice, she explained what had happened in Bevelle, including the circumstances that made her come to Balamb. "Rinoa...I met this guy named Irvine in Bevelle...he said he and I were friends a while ago, but I don't remember him. In fact.....I haven't recieved any more memories. The only thing that's changed is that I'm bigger..." Feeling tears coming on, Selphie bit her lip, trying to be a big girl and not cry.
Her thoughts were interrupted when the alarms came on, blaring and ringing. Scared out of her skin, Selphie hid behind Rinoa, shaking at the sound. "What's that? I'm scared......."

Returning the exuberant hug with one of her own, already rather buoyant from the talk she just had with Squall earlier, Rinoa smiled happily at the younger girl. She was listening to Selphie, and although she didn't know who they were, she had a feeling that Selphie simply needed someone to listen.
And so she did, taking in every little thing, although her eyes widened slightly at the mention of the redheaded sharpshooter. She hadn't seen him in awhile, and he was in Bevelle?
Her smile fading as Selphie bit her lip, taking in the fact that Irvine seemed to have lost his memory (or maybe he was just being a jerk), Rinoa was about to reach out and hug her dear friend again when she jumped at the sound of the alarm, startled.
What was going on? The shrill sound of the sirens almost scared her out of her skin, but instead of shrinking away, the young woman straightened. Selphie was hiding behind her now; Selphie needed protection, and for the first time, Rinoa found that she was very much willing to give it. She had gotten stronger, and now was the time to prove to everyone that she wasn't the spoilt, rash princess she had been an eternity ago.
Looking over at Squall, tensing, she murmured. "What do we do now?"
