He couldn't help but smile at her words, golden hues glazing over slightly as his mind drifted to a distant memory, although his consciousness was still very much aware of where he was and who he was with. The sense of unease that always overcame him when he was forced to speak about his past with others was nonexistant- was this her doing? Did she have some sort of power that brought this on, or had she already unknowingly claimed a special place in his heart? He wasn't sure he cared, in either case, although a distant part of his memory insisted that he should. He ignored it.

"Well, I'm not sure how much there is to tell that you'll understand. I come from a different time and place- I have no idea how it relates to this place at all... it's so different here. Where I grew up, the lands were divided in corruption, war and pollution... I myself was the last of my kind, as my mother and father died defending the human village that I was born into. I grew up with the ideals that I was meant to protect my home village in their stead, and did so for many years, honing my skills as a warrior. I tried to ignore what was happening in the outside world, but the planet was gradually being destroyed, and eventually I couldn't hide from it any longer." Golden eyes turned to meet cerulean as he sought her gaze to inquire if she understood what he'd said thus far.

It wasn't that much of a surprise to her that he did open his past wounds in confidement in the beautiful mare. It seemed from birth that words of iced sweetness and compassion always came before anything negative or darkened with hate. She just had that way about her that rippled like the tide in the ocean-freeflowing and always in motion.

His words though sadened her for no images how pleasent you could project could ever wipe out the harshness of reality. War. Pollution. Hate. Things unknown to the wild races of pegasai that filled her homeland dubbed "Butterfly Island" for its unique shape and atmosphere. W hat he spoke of was harsh which caused her eyes to loose that glimmer of light. She perfectly comprehended what he spoke. Not even a hint of a lie could of made her believe otherwise.

Her words in reply though seemed gentle and soft with a touch of sympathy, "Sometimes all that we muster never seems enough. I am terribly at a loss of tender words to even console the burden you let lie in your memories. Perhaps I was wrong to inquire of what you held dear. I did not w ish such heartache as you may be feeling now" she said with a tiny apathetic frown feeling helpless nothing could be righted to ease the pain. Looking upward at the sky she spoke once more in her dreamy state, harmonious but soft as a kitten's purr "My childhood was indeed a reversal of yours. But perhaps learning of good and bad experiences will help us to learn there is always more waiting at the end of a lightened tunnel or pure darkness. We each lead very seperate lives yet somehow meet in the middle" she blinked pausing realizing her thoughts were talking on their own again.

Despite the melancholy that had settled upon him with the reminiscince of his past, her gentle words brought a smile to his face, breaking through the dark cloud of depression that threatened to overshadow him in the reopening of old wounds. It was amazing, really- he'd always thought that only kindred spirits- people who'd experienced the same things and understood each other- could do what she had for him, but she'd just confirmed what he'd suspected about her lifestyle- it had been nothing like his. She probably had a purpose, people who loved her, and never had to kill, to have other peoples' blood on her hands like he had. Strangely, he found himself glad for that- an unspoken vow was made then and there that she would never suffer the pain and injustice that he had- not if he could help it.

The guilt and grief that always overtook his heart at this point were held at bay by this strange winged mare that spoke in poems... he found himself regarding her with a respect and grattitude that he'd never fully experienced before, combined with something that he identified as affection. He was lucky to have her friendship, that much was certain, and he refused to consider the possibility of ruining it by voicing these strange thoughts. "I'm glad you never had to go through anything like that, miss Star. It changes a person... much of the time in ways that they never recover from." He stopped to consider this, shifting lightly from one foot to another as golden eyes shifted towards the ground. "I find myself wanting to promise you that I'll never let you go through what I did. Is that strange?"

Truly, he had no idea if it was strange or not. He didn't want to seem like an overly eager charmer that wanted to win her over... no, he wasn't even completely sure of his reasons, he just found himself with a strange desire to protect her.

Sadness. She felt it as open as the cold winds sneaking upon them from the wintery mountains. Two months atleast and a full snowfall will have spread a huge blanket of crystal white across the sleeping lands. She desired to meet this change in the seasons as fall bowed her way out, letting the grace of winter envelop them in a winter wonderland. But yet as his outer shell burned brightly as did his heart which fought to never let her feel pain nor suffering if he could muster.

This one thing made her feel quite honored humbling at his words in deep respect.

"Why would I consider such an act as strange?" she quiered with a soft reponse, her eyes shimmering with hidden pride. "I think it valiant for one to want no harm in my path of life. Protection and adoration in the pursuit of my well-being. I humble at your words Red. They fill me with happiness that one such as yourself would create a thought as deep and fullfilled as this." Her gaze fell back upon him as the sun rose higher meeting his way to the center of the open blue canvas known as the sky. Strange as it seemed his words, his heart, and simply his being were growing upon her as a flower reaches for its first gathering of light.

"No other being has even remotely showed me the kindness you've demonstrated today, save for the one's so thoughtful to let me roam in their herd. Without kindness a soul can wither and die, leaving a black aura that drifts aimlessly forever trying to find its purpose".

"Well, I've never had a close relationship before, so I suppose I don't really know what is normal and what isn't. You flatter me though, miss Star, I wish only to ensure the happiness that you so deserve. You are the one that has offered me kindness beyond any which I have encountered." He offered her an uncharacteristically shy smile, golden hues glittering as he let them slide closed a moment in thought, then turned his face to the sky and opened them to gaze upon the starry night sky.

"Miss Star... I find myself drawn to you in ways that are wholly unfamiliar to me... forgive me if I seem strange by telling you this, but it's more than just the desire to protect you." He let his eyes slide closed again with a soft sigh, shifting uncomfortable as he did so. He was not a stranger to relationships, but he'd never experienced emotions like these himself. Belatedly, he realized that he was beginning to understand Shadow's ramblings about love, and with a small bout of panic, realized he'd been spilling his feelings out loud for the last five minutes when he had no idea what she even thought of him.

Coughing a few times in a feigned attempt to brush aside his embarassment, he offered the ivorn mare a sheepish grin. "I'm sorry, please forgive my forwardness... with the length of time we've known each other, I'm sure this must seem untrue to you. I apologize..."

Her assumptions in his dedication were correct and just. He had grown on her like ivy resting upon a pilliar protecting the very thing it designated to grow. So was this very moment which in her steps she knew an encounter could make itself known. But with a thousand creatures roaming the lands in shades, hues of every color, breed, and personality this did take her by surprise. The warmth he showed was not only outward in appearence but internal and burning delicately in her eyes. How long had it been since a single stallion didn't make eyes at her for her appendages draped in blues upon her side, but simply acknowledge her for the soul she really was.

For an instant the white gentle mare ornamented in lightened pinks and some blues blushed that her cheeks had changed to a slightened raspberry. Though her eyes looked pensive and starry eyed at him she still smiled quietly contemplating what was right to return in his presence. She was rather fond of him, that she'd admit to anyone.

Thinking about the herd that roamed in Celendria's generosity, she thought of those bonded such as Saissis, Glory, and indeed Celendria. As old as the pensive mare was, not once had she felt a trickle of giddiness in her withers such as now. Her ponderings prompted her to respond yet her face still held that shocked profile though it wasn't anything of a worry.

"There's no need to harbor one's feelings if they are just in what they say Red. Do not apoligize for something your heart speaks if only to pull yourself deeper into that wavering shell. I feel so humble at listening to you... my cheeks have reddedned haven't they?" she laughed with a soft chime in her voice like silver bells in a spring breeze. She turned to look away willing her emotions to lie low and let her think on her next words that lie hidden in her own heart.

A deep breath that the firey stallion wasn't even aware that he had been holding escaped his lungs, relief and happiness filling his heart with an intensity he'd never experienced before as his sheepish smile slowly morphed into a genuine one of euphoria. He couldn't have torn his gaze from her azure one in that moment even if he had wanted to, and his golden hues softened into an expression of gentleness and adoration as he leaned down to nuzzle her forehead in a small gesture of gratitude. He drew back after a moment at her last comment to eye her with a soft chuckle, nodding at her rhetorical question.

"Indeed, you have, and it matches your pretty mane," he smiled and nosed a soft strand of her similarly-colored strawberry forelocks away from her eyes. He couldn't remember a time when he'd been so happy... so at ease with himself, and he knew he'd never been this elated at someone else's words in his life. Was this what it was like to be in love? He was certainly beginning to understand Shadows' misery in being rejected... he hoped he would never be forced into that position himself. "It's a good look for you," he teased lightly, smiling as he let his muzzle touch her forehead again briefly before backing up a step to give her space.

The urge to thank her was at the forefront of his mind, but he knew she would dismiss it... he wasn't even entirely sure what he should thank her for. Being completely new at being in any close relationship- much less one that involved falling in love- was a huge disadvantage on his part... he'd never really even known anyone to have a successful relationship on these pretenses. Cloud and Vincent were human ice cubes, of course, but they were the closest companions he'd had for a while... he wondered absently who he would seek out for advice when he needed it. He realized now that he had no idea where to go from where they were, but he supposed that was a step that they would take together.

Conceeding to his own logic, he offered a wholly warmhearted smile towards the pastel mare, letting a soft uttered "thank you," fall from his lips.

As a story unfolds with the turning of a simple page so does on's life when they find what they long for.

His words could of been noted of ambrosia the way they showed a delicate caring soul wrapped in adoration and euphoria. Her own cheeks still bloomed in a raspberry hue yet she wasn't concerned that her real feelings escaped reveiling what her thoughts truly spoke.

"Hmm you're words to make me feel so full of admiration. If anyone though thought you to be boring.. well lets just say they haven't met the true soul which sits right beneath your dazzling eyes Red." she mused with a playful nudge, letting her velvet muzzle puposely slide along his own suede covered cheek.

She humored herself with a genuine smile knowing his own heart and soul would take on anything if it meant her harm. Deeply in respect she inched closer toward him using the excuse of the late heavy fall winds changing toward the winter. His own pelt seemed very warm and inviting which she did indeed accept the invitation with a toss of her head and a hearty delicate smile that painted her face like a soft dream.

The firey stallion couldn't remember a time when he'd felt so happy- so giddy- had he ever? It was most certainly debateable... he'd never really had any friends besides his comrades-in-arms, and he'd never in his life felt an attraction like the one that drew him to her. A contented sigh befell his lips as he accepted the silent invitation and moved closer to her, his larger, muscular form curling around hers to shield her body from the chill of the cold wind with his own.

Flames flickering brightly from his tail, he held it close to keep her warm as his frame cradled her petite one, golden hues focused on naught but her own azure gaze. This whole situation was wholly unfamiliar, but not at all unwelcome. He wondered absently if this was really what it was like to be in love- if so, he could most certainly understand Shadow's aversion to his rejection. He didn't like to think of what would happen to his own heart if miss Star were to... well, he preferred not to consider that at all. Unconsciously, he pressed slightly closer to her, nosing a strawberry forelock away from her eyes as he let his own slide closed.

Star Catcher beingh here a few short months was never more content in her life. A gallant stallion had laid his life down for her in which she accepted. But was there betrayl and sadness looming before them she pondered. Nothing of good fortune came without a price for things unseen. She pondered her thoughts running way once more as her own wings flapped rapidly to chase them down. But here was a moment, a simple dedication and oath that caused her own delicate frame to sigh with much happiness. If anything loomed in the future it could stay there for all she cared nuzzling his warm muzzle.

She looked out over the land once more wondering what things waited away from the infedelity ponderings of stallions chasing after mares. As the sky smiled back in the most beautiful cerulean blue so did the emerald grasses and tall trees around her. Water as crystal as the faintest blues sparkling like diamonds... what more wasn't there to love about this land she's chosen as her home.

Eyes soft and nurturing turned toward him smiling, "So I wonder now what happens" she murmered with her soft silver bell voice..

Golden hues blinked slowly in curiosity as he pondered her question, head tilting slightly to one side in an uncharacteristic display of innocence. "Your guess is as good as mine, miss Star... but if I had to hazard a theory, I would say only that whatever may come, we will face it together." He paused a moment as he considered his own words, and a chuckle resounded throughout his frame as he shook his head. "I sound terribly cliche, don't I?"

There was a terrible sense of foreboding that crept over him as he thought of the future, as if some sort of shadow clouded it... and his brow furrowed as the smile slipped from his face. Something wasn't right. Still, he wasn't about to let anything ruin the ecstatic mood he was in, so he pushed aside his premonitions in favor of focusing on the mare before him. He offered her his brightest smile, taking a moment to dip his head and nuzzle his forehead against hers. "If you're cold, miss Star, I do believe I smelled a hotspring somewhere around here... would you like me to find it for you?"

Beautiful scenery lying outward like a perfect puzzle made her heart flutter simply being there. Trials unmentioned always faced positive things headstrong detering them into sadness and oblivion with one misguided step.

Her eyes appeared dreamy as she listened to his deep yet gentle voice.
Falling. So what was the objective now that they passed simialar feelings. Ah yes it was mentioning of a hot springs. There was something unknown to the beautiful winged allinged in pink decour as it glided and wrapped about her form.

"Id like that very much should you choose to go there with me of course." she nodded with a soft expression that resembled light fluffy clouds and far off visions. She returned the nuzzle affectionately eager to follow in tow to this legendary place.

A haven the water naturally stayed hot rummored to cure aging ailing fetlocks and sore hooves. Neither aliment troubled her but how nice it would be to simply soak yourself in such a facinating luxurious place.

"Well, I wouldn't be much of a gentleman if I left you alone here, now would I?" he smiled as he took note of her far-off expression... it seemed she was as enamored as he was. With a gentle guiding nudge to her side, he gestured towards the said hot springs with a toss of his head, spiky auburn forelocks falling over golden hues as they gazed upon tis ivory mare with adoration. Who would have thought... Nanaki the rogue, fallen in love?

The strong smell of sulfur made him wrinkle his nose, although after a moment of deliberation, he came up with a better idea, and promptly buried his muzzle in her strawberry mane. She smelled much better than the sulfur, after all. After a few moments of simply admiring the natural beauty of the scene they'd stumbled onto, however, his aversion to the smell was forgotten in his awe.

It was somewhat of an enclosed space, a dense copse of trees surrounding the small pool of water, steam rising from the surface as a tiny waterfall spilled clear blue water into the spring.
PostPosted: Sun Nov 26, 2006 8:08 pm

Her eyes shimmered as blue as the sky high above. It was like a dream as her mouth gasped in awe. The pooled water, the cascading falls, the simple beauty of a place hidden deep from prying eyes. She knew now what is was like to be in a dream yet be breathing and alive.

And she didn't hide her happiness either letting her chest heave the most contented sigh feeling this wonderful to be here. Yes be here in this place that Red had brought her too, for the both of them.

"Is so beautiful" she murmered with a purr in her crystal voice, " Red you are the most wonderful Soquili I've ever met. And I thankyou for that." she whickerd leaning in to nuzzle him. The sulpher wasn't bad at all though it did make a habit of tickling her velvet nose. It didn't matter really as she focused more on him than the faults of this mysterious dream realm.

Stepping forward she placed her fron't hooves within the heated water letting the steam rise about her. Turning her head she looked at her companion which was... could she actually say that word or was this something that took time in a relationship. Now her mind was wondering where things were lying and how far they'd traveled.

It did occur to Nanaki that she probably wasn't entirely serious about the comment, but despite that, it touched him deeply. For someone to say that he was wonderful... overlooking the innocents he had slain, and the blood that had stained his hands... it meant more to him than she would ever know. He returned the affectionate nuzzle with an uncharacteristically bright smile, watching as she waded into the warm water and wondering what he had ever done to deserve this kind of blessing.

"The feeling is mutual, miss Star... thank you for being the light of my life."

He followed her into the water, making sure to keep his flaming tail above the surface, sighing in blissful contentment as he made himself comfortable next to her. It was a few moments before he spoke again, and his voice was dead serious this time... almost sad. "Miss Star, I need to ask you this before I lose my nerve... I care about you so much more than you know, but... I need to know that you're aware of the dangers of being with me," he said softly. "I have enemies. I'm going to be on the front lines of a war soon. You know I would die to protect you, but... there's a chance I might not return from this. Are you sure you still want to be with me?"
