"Alright, alright, no more jokes." Safiya backed off, even though personally, she thought it had been pretty funny. "Just plain Prince it is, then."
"I know this sounds odd, but I can't remember how long I've been alone out here. I think I got hit in the head with this bone..anyway, everything's really fuzzy. I haven't talked to another lion, especially one in the graveyard, for... ages." Wow, saying it out loud was really making her feel worse.
She shrugged. "If you're Prince, I guess you can do whatever you want." At least she tried. If he was so adverse to even exchange words with her, she wouldn't waste her time with him much longer, no matter how much she desired companionship. Nobody wanted to be with somebody who didn't want to be with you.

Rune snerked inwardly at the idea that perhaps her happy go lucky personality around him had dwindled a bit. Too happy was always annoying and irritating, especially when you weren't in the mood for it.
"You let a bone beat you up, how touching," He commented with a quiet laugh. He'd judged her to be smarter than she actually was, maybe. "So. Obviously," Rune began to add, seating himself in the shallow area of the water where he currently stood," if you remember being here as a child and are now an adult? Then you've been here for quite some time on your own. I haven't seen you, and I was born here. That was quite a while ago. Clearly you've been here for ages," He nodded, implying that of course Safiya was -old-, despite that she really hardly was. He was poking fun, despite that this girl may not particularly pick up on it. Although, considering that Runai had spent the majority of his life out of the prides boundaries and more along the hyena territory to keep watch on them, who's to say that Safiya hadn't come here during -that- time? Hmn. He didn't like thinking things through this much.
"..Although," He began again, tilting his head while his mind continued to whirl. "I haven't seen anyone else around much, either. Isha left, Toshi's.. somewhere, dad's.. hell who knows.. Chi's.. damn. I don't know where any of them are. Ausha's bound to be skulking around somewhere like always. Who knows where those stupid kids of his are.. and.. there really isn't anyone else here. So. Not like you've missed much," He stated, perhaps this being the most he's spoken for quite a while. His voice, however, still remained dull and flat, almost seemingly disinterested.

Safiya found it interesting that when she showed less interest in getting him to talk, he actually talked more. She would file that personality quirk away for future reference - maybe that tactic would come in handy with some other lions later on.
Wait - what was that? A laugh? She almost teased him, but thought better of it. Besides, she had to admit defeat on that one. It was pretty funny, in an embarrasing sort of way.
Safiya was somehow glad he could poke fun at her. She felt like maybe, they were getting somewhere, becoming a little less strangers and gaining a bit of progress towards friendship.
"I've been here for as long as I can remember, almost. Though it doesn't seem all that long. I remember a couple others, like Ausha, and there was one lioness I met who's name I can't remember..I think it started with an I." There was a touch of motherly affection and melancholy around that memory, though Safiya couldn't understand why.
She searched her memory, finding it hard to think through the fog. "I remember crawling into a den and seeing..little cubs...Maybe?" Things that she thought were memories could very well have been dreams. It was frustrating to not remember. "Of course, I was barely more than a cub myself. Maybe that's why I can't remember." She was almost speaking to herself.
She took herself out of her frustrating memory search and looked at him. "If no one's here, and you don't seem to have that much affection for this place, why don't you leave?"

Of course she remembered Ausha- who didn't? The guy was so.. messed up that it was difficult /not/ to recall him if you'd have met him. Hmn. He couldn't, however, neglect to showing a visible frown at the mention of his mother, however.
"There's only been one name around here that started with an I, and that'd be Ishara." He grumped, his mood suddenly shifting to another sour mode. He often didn't regard this female as his mother, considering the circumstances. Unfortunately, the black on his coat had happened to have origins from her, and that he could harldy allow him to forget Isha. Although he couldn't help but wonder which set of cubs she had walked in on, since there had only ever been two litters born in the actual graveyard. Perhaps it had been Ausha's? Then again, perhaps it was his own. It was highly likely, although he spoke nothing on the subject. Besides, what did he care?
His thoughts meandered to the next question. Damn she sure did have loads of those.
"I stay here because it's the only place I won't run into anyone," He commented without much hesitance. When he mentioned 'anyone', Rune mainly meant his family. Besides, he had a rematch with Mafa waiting for him, and maybe this time he could manage to give her the same limp she'd given him. What a gift that had been. Revenge was the perfect motivation for everything, in Rune's mind, as wrong as it might have appeared.

"Ishara, that was it!" It helped little to put a name to the blurry face in her memory. She was curious to know what had become of her. But the mention of this name brought a frown to the prince's face, so she decided to drop that topic - even though she really wanted to hear the whole story.
She wanted to ask him all kinds of questions. Where he lived, whether he had found some kind of old animal skeleton to live in like she had, what he did for fun (if he even had any fun) where his favorite places to hunt where, why he was so bitter. But she could sense that her curiosity was wearing thin on his patience. She looked at the ground, unsure of what else to do.
With a sigh, she collapsed onto the ground, rolled onto her back, and stared into the sky. She lay there a few moments, watching the first darkenings of the late afternoon clouds, contemplating.
"I.. apologize. I did sort of latch onto you like a thorn that gets caught in your fur, and I'm about as welcome as one. I'll be quiet now, and don't worry, I won't follow you anymore."
She was unusually silent for while. Then, speaking to herelf in a voice barely above a murmer, she said, "What am I still doing here?"

She'd sounded so excited at having heard the name that had been formally lost in a mass of fading memories, even if Rune seemed seemingly unhappy about bringing the name into the conversation. Fortunately he managed to brush the subject off his shoulder with a mild shrug and grumble.
"Y'shouldn' get so excited over little things," He added mildly, eyes slowly glancing downward at his reflection in the water. Psh. Why did he have to resemble his damn parents so much? He silently took a paw and splashed at the water in order to destroy the reflected image.
"Whatever," Runai commented blandly, rising rather quickly before beginning ot meander back in the direction of the graveyard. He had some business to see to, or rather spy on. Whether or not Safiya decided she'd trail along was up to her. Afterall, it was her own risk at stake, even if it would be technically more of his responsibility to make sure she kept in one piece.
"Follow if you want. Might be entertaining on your behalf. Might not be. Depends on if y'feel like maybe getting into trouble at all." He mumbled as he passed her figure. "It'll be your own problem if we're seen, though. Every lion for himself. Or herself," He corrected lightly, without a glance to the girl.
EDIT: Alrighty, XD Should all be.. fixed up sorta, XD;

Lying there helped her think, even in the depressed mood that was coming over her. She knew there was some reason that this "prince" was familiar to her. It was on the tip of her brain..she just about got it..
Suddenly rolling back upright, she said, "Wait, so you don't mind if I come with you?" Not that she was one who EVER felt like getting into trouble - in fact, she tried to avoid that at all costs. On the other hand, what else was she going to do that day? Sit and stare at bones? She was so tired of doing that.
Well, he was already up and moving, so she needed to decide.
She got to her feet. "I might as well," she said, trying to hide the little bit of excitement that was creeping up, "I don't have anything better to do." She only stopped for a quick drink at the water's edge and was back to trailing him, this time from a shorter distance.
"Hey, um...does this trouble involve hyenas, maybe?"

What was she babbling about back there? Runes ears quirked as they strained to listen, but alas, no good. All he could do was slow down a bit to keep the distance between the two shorter.
"Hurry up," He mumbled, not even bothering to check how far behind Safi was. The idea of taking a nother 'trip' into the center of the graveyard always released a bit of excitement, despite that this particular time of the day wasn't exactly a time when hyena's tended to thrive throughout their territory.
"Hyenas..?" He questioned, having caught another question from the girl. Hmn. Suppose she were afraid.. "Of course not," He lied simply, hoping to prevent her from chickening out. Toshi always did that, and Runai hated him for it. Although his brother was always better at recognizing danger a bit more than Rune.. but then again Rune had never cared much about being in trouble and getting hurt as the punishment. It made life interesting, in the very least.
So, Rune strolled along, taking a steady pace to accomodate his limp. Besides, what was the rush? Despite this speed, it still didn't take that long to reach the outer boundaries of the hyena territory. Safiya would probably smell the rats and recognize the area, but this male didn't much care.

Safiya caught up fairly easily, but was still a bit wary of getting too close to him. In fact, she should've been wary about this whole trip, but she couldn't pass up an opportunity for a little adventure. So she followed him without asking where they were going, or what he planned to do once they got there.
Presently, Safiya detected a strange scent in the air and for some reason became uneasy. She had the feeling she shouldn't be there. Safiya wasn't exactly bravehearted.
"So why are we here again?" she cautioned to ask. Was it her imagination, or was the breeze a bit more chill here? She shivered nonetheless.

Rune couldn't help but wonder to himself about if whether or not Safiya had figured out yet that he had made a small white lie, and had of course led her to the centermost territory of the graveyard. Any lion who knew anything about this place knew it was hyena territory and that it was, for the majority, off limits to their species. This particular male had always ignored that fact, however. He had things to check up on.
He stole a glance over his shoulder at the girl walking close behind, meanwhile flashing a mild smirk. "Checking up on things. Why?" The prince commented lightly, cocking a brow. "You scared?"
Either which way, Runai would've ended up here. Safiya could leave, he didn't care. She might even prove to be more of a burden than anything, especially around here. However she continued to tag along, why Rune didn't quite know. Meanwhile he remained alert, wary. Being on your guard was important around here. Even at the slightest noise or crack in the distance made the adults head snap to see the origin of the sound.
Perhaps he'd run into the thing he was checking into. Maybe.
(( Hmmn. x3; It'd be kinda.. entertaining to shove a hyena in right about now. x3; If I can get Dagi to post with Mafa, would you mind at all, Lisi? =3 ))

((TAAADAAA! *Cackles and punts Mafa in* You guys asked for it xDDD))
Oh, little Runai just had to jinx it, hadn't he? Had to push the boundries, just like he always did, lions were too stupid to learn anyways. Mafa had been patrolling the Graveyard, not looking for anything in particular when a familiar, and completely unwelcome scent caught her attention. Lions. Two of them to be exact, and one of them was one of her past chew toys. Mafa chuckled to herself grimly, hunching her head down and trotting toward the two lions.
As she neared them, the alpha female rose her head high, letting out an ear piercing cackle. The sound bounced off of the bones and skulls, making it echo and sound like there was an army of hyenas, not just Mafa. Even though Mafa was quite comparable to an army all on her own. Cresting a hill, Mafa spotted the two. Ah yes, Runai, the little pest that never let her have her peace. Torturing always gave her a very special sense of pleasure, seeing as he was prince to the worthless lion pride that was invading her territory. He was rather blase towards her, but she had inflicted damage on him before, and would not be hesitant to do so again; his new size did not bother her, Mafa was comparable in strength to a lion, definitely not an easy target to take down. But what was this, a little female companion with the filthy lion? Mafa snarled, were they trying to procreate in her Graveyard? The thought of it made her want to wretch. Disgusting. Bottling her fury for when she would need it, Mafa trotted forward, cutting the two off from where they were headed,
"What's this? Two nasty little love birds? On my lands? What, Ausha not able to stand the sight of you two? Kicked you out for me to deal with? No matter, you're here and you'll pay, you should know better, Runai"
Mafa snarled, her yellowed fangs bared in plain sight. Definitely intimidating, especially for one who hadn't dealt with her before. Mafa had a lot of bark, with more than enough bite to back it up.
