I'd love to be an abortionist. I'd deny those women abortions based on my "Moral belief that people should hold strong to their morals." then kick them out the door and shout at their little friends "THIS SLUT JUST ASKED FOR AN ABORTION!" -even if she was married or in a long term relationship. It's insane how that logic works. "My abortion is okay, but NO ONE ELSE DESERVES ONE."

Articles like that make me sad. Imagine the shame those women felt. I hope they were ashamed, hiding behind their signs, acting like they never exercised their own reproductive right.

Wow - that was angry.

Yeah. I felt the need to vent that one out to you guys. It really gets me going when women like that exercise their right to an abortion reguardless of the situation and then try to deny other women that same right. That'd be like me being able to recieve welfare but denying everyone else the same and calling them "Lazy a** unemployed jerks."

Venting is healthy. It is far better that you vent in here about something that bugs you (and the "My Abortion is the ONLY Moral Abortion" Syndrom really bothers me also) than that you don't and eventually explode and kill some Pro-Lifer who gets an abortion then goes back to picketing the clinic that gave it to her, or run her down and take her sign even.

It sucks that there are some people who aren't willing to live up to the standards they hold everyone else up to. On a better note, I have a Pro-Life aquantence who got unexpectedly pregnant and is living by her morals (which actually rather suprised me, I never figured that she would in that situation - frankly I'm proud of her for doing so).

Give her a pair of baby booties from me. I'm proud of her too.

LOL @ the run down/sign steal thing. Are you talking about the youtube chick? Man was she angry. I felt bad, but not really that bad. I just wish she had something along the lines of "THIS IS NOT SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE! HOW DARE THEY SHOW MUTILATED FETUSES TO PWESHUS LITTLE CHILDREN!!!"

I would like to think most pro-lifers are not out there getting abortions. The once-in-a-while nutcase who thinks she is superior to everybody else and is entitled to, while simultaneously thinks it should be illegalized is insane and should be locked up. She is a menace to society, because where does that logic end? She'll be allowing herself to kill actual born people next because its only ok when she does it. (I'm not kidding either, I strongly feel that these people should be locked up for commiting an act that they themselves think of as murder)

Frankly keeping a child shouldn't be something to congratulate somebody about. Especially when that person is vehemently pro-life to begin with. They are just keeping a child...

Would you like to congratulate me for not blowing anybody up? Well, thank you then. *bows*

I remember that, mostly because it was in my area. In fact, every time I pass through Commercial Drive Station on my way to a football game, I check for protestors. That is an extremely busy intersection because Commercial has all these shops, the 9 and 99 buses from UBC stop there, the Skytrain from Burnaby/Surrey/Metrotown stops there, it's a transfer point between the Millennium Line and the Expo Line, etc. The only intersection that I could say is busier is either Robson and Burrard streets or Robson and Granville. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if protestors have tried going down Robson Street, but they'd probably get split into smaller groups due to all the people on the damn street.

My sentiments exactly. I am only proud because the girl has stuck with her morals. She doesn't support abortion so she will not get one. She could give it up for adoption for all I care, but she isn't running around claiming her abortion is the only moral one. That gets under my skin SO bad. Did you read some of those stories? Who the eff walks out of an abortion clinic after getting an abortion and denies other women the right that she just exercised?

And no. I would not like to congratulate you. Get back to dynamite slave!!! scream

This kind of thing is horrible. "Since I had an abortion it was okay. But no one else can have one because mine was a special case even though I wasn't raped,. could die from it, etc. So no one else should be allowed to have one. And just in case I get pregnant again i'll have another abortion because i'm special!"

If you really think about it the girls that get abortions because they think they aren't slutty trash like those other girls would be far more capable of raising a child than the slutty trash girls. I mean if they think those other girls are sluts then why would they ever assume that they would be capable of raising a child? Is there like some crazy study out there that shows that sluts are more capable of taking care of children than the 'my abortion is the only moral abortion' type girls? xd

Those pro-life hypocrites make me emo. emo

Seriously, though, did anybody else expect stuff like this to exist?
Lifer: "Nooo! Don't kill your baby, you slut!"
~One week later~
Same Lifer: "I need an abortion, but it's not my fault I got pregnant. I can't have a baby now because of my financial situation, and I just can't handle caring for a baby, either. Now get on with it."

I tried using a situation that would also be used by a choicer, but for some reason, it just doesn't feel the same.. Maybe it's the "get on with it" part..

I'm proud of her because I really expected her abandon her moral views on abortion if she ever had to deal with an unexpected pregnancy. I don't know how much having a Pro-Life boyfriend influenced her choice to keep the pregnancy, but I am proud of her for sticking by her morals.

I don't think she's for abortion being illegal, she just doesn't see how anyone could stand to get an abortion, and she didn't. I'm allowed to be proud of anyone for any reason I like, even if others don't see it as being worthy of praise (I'm proud of a certain person every time he doesn't insult someone in a certain thread, I'm proud of my cat every time she allows me to pet her tail without biting me, I'm proud of my fiance for working at a horrible job that he hates, I'm proud of my father for cutting down from three packs a day to one and a half packs a day).

There's also this article by a woman who was actively pro-life until she got pregnant, and she talks about herself and the other women like her.

I hadn't read that one. Thank you for sharing it! That's a very powerful story.

And regarding Seventeen Magazine, they DID have that story. It really pissed me off that the girl was forced into it, had NO idea what was going on during the procedure (and was terrified), and that immediately after, she began to go back to being anti-choice. And she was obviously given nothing but abstinence-only "education". Gah.

So for this, and because of their disturbingly underinformative articles about real issues, like sex*, I'm very disappointed in Seventeen. They're good for the shallow stuff, and I suppose they do TRY to introduce important topics to girls, but they fail. It's probably because their audience is stupid teenaged girls, but still...

And their new Real Life Stories-type article this month is, I s**t you not:

"Lesbian Killers"

I'm serious. It's about a lesbian girl who killed her grandparents because they forbade her to see her girlfriend.

Great image you're spreading, Seventeen. Way to go. rolleyes

*Their sex articles are all "Don't do it, don't do it, you will die if you do, STDs are everywhere, it ruins your life, it's evil, every religion ever says not to, it's stupid, it's gross, (birthcontrol/stdprevention) it destroys your self esteem, it makes you depressed, don't do it, you're not ready yet, DON'T DO IT!"

Your teenage magazines are all so different to ours! Ours are all "STDs: the facts!" "What type of protection should you use?" "How to be better in bed!" And so on. There's actually some pretty useful stuff over here. (England.)

Then there's the guy stuff. "How to attract any man." "Is he the One?"

...um, actually, most of our's are like that. It's just Seventeen is mostly a fashion rag, I think, so it's articles are crappy. Cosmo and Glamour, two very popular ones, have STD information and stuff.

Still s**t for articles, though. A woman who says she reads women's magazines for the articles is no different than a man who says the same about Playboy. If it's not about sex, men, or fashion... yeah, they basically suck.

I feel like such a loser. The only magazine I've read in a very long time was Household Words... and the issues were about 150 years old....

Just yesterday I was talking with my mother about abortion. She said that other people can do what they want because she doesn't care about them, however if I ever had an abortion she would pretty much hate me and pass the word around to my family (and they are all pretty much pro-life, except my aunt who has had 2 abortions.)

We got into the discussion of how my dad was trying to get her pregnant near the end of their marriage. It would have been his way of tying her down to him and keeping her from leaving because it was pretty clear that she was leaving soon. She said to me, "I probably would have had an abortion if he had gotten me pregnant then. But that's the only time."

ARG!! >< I just wanted to scream and shout! " scream SO YOUR ABORTION WOULD HAVE BEEN THE ONLY MORAL ABORTION? If I ever get pregnant and choose not to go through with it for financial and schooling reasons you'd condemn me?!! My reasons aren't good enough but yours are!!!?" But I held back... xp

Sometimes my mother just pisses me off to no end... stare
