Ever pass out at a special event with the band?
Yes, I have, as a matter of fact...
No, but I do know someone else in our band that did.
Never happened to me or anyone else in our band.

Well, a cymbal player passed out during band camp in summer, we all heard it because there was a CRASH and we all thought he just dropped them.

At a contest recently, this one girl was walking off and she had to sit down and be carried to the bus.

oh, and last year, a guard girl rolled her ankle wrong halfway through the show, but she stayed and finished, and she had to be taken to the hospital really far away from where we live.

and our band president pulled his arm right before all state tryouts.

oh, and I was a freshman last year, and during band camp, I was standong at attention and everything went purple and sparkly, but I didn't want people to think I was weak, so I didn't go inside or anything. I just waited for a water break.

my friend is somewhat hardheaded imo, she doesn't eat sometimes, maybe she has an eating disorder but I know she's not like OMG PRO ANOREXIA! and she keeps on passing out. She likes to eat, but she's kind of sickly and has a really narrow kind of TV dinner / white bread diet. xD And she loves that shitty zero calorie coke s**t, not because it can keep her thin or whatever but really, she likes the taste of the artificial sweetener. xDDD
Today she was blacking out during warm up and she did this last year too during morning practices. A clarinetist behind me during photos last night blacked out but she woke up before she collapsed or anything- one of the camera people were like WE HAVE A FAINTER and ran to hold onto her before she falls and she was like shoving into me and I turned back to see and she had like this strange wide open eyes blank look about her. xDDD From what I've seen, the only people who black out are people who are scrawny / sickly or those who lock their knees, it's because marching band is hardwork.

That's not entirely true. I passed out during Band Camp last year, and I'm a big girl. It was like a 110 degrees outside and I was standing on blacktop, no one but the drum major noticed I was passing out until I fell out of attendance block and landed on the pavement. The low brass instructor had to practicly carry me to some shade, I couldn't walk. I'm just saying, that it's not all scrawny people who pass out.

I almost did once...
We had to stand in the sun for about... two hours?
Then I started to get dizzy, and everything got all blurry and got brownish-whitish dots...
It was a creepy feeling. I don't think I could hear anything.
I had to sit down, and afterwards everyone came up, and they were all, "Are you okay? What happened?"
And... yeah.

One of our trumpet players has passed out twice during practice in the past couple of years. The second time was actually in the morning, during school.

Every Memorial Day our band has to march in three different parades in full uniform (navy blue). And after each parade, we have to stand in the sun (still holding our instruments) for quite a while while imortant people stand around and give speeches. It is absolutely KILLER! One year, well over 10 people had passed out before the end of the third parade. I think that that year still holds our band's record for number of people passing out on Memorial Day.

At a competition towards the beginning of marching season, it was well into the 90s and we'd just gotten off a bus that had no air and was probably hotter than 95 degrees. We went right into full uniform and lined up to go into warmup. Since we hadnt been given any water or anything, alot of people werent at thier best. I started hyperventilating, but since it had never happened to me before, I thought I was just a little overheated, so I just continued on and no one really noticed. Towards the end of warm up, someone just yelled "Casey! Get some water!" and dragged me off over to the stand where they had those little cups of water.
When it was obvious the water wasnt really helping, the band captain told me to take my jacket off, and she pretty much ripped it off me so fast that my body went into shock right there. Then a section leader who had been standing there just grabbed me and held me because they thought I was gonna pass out.
They gave me to the band moms, and then they had to leave to go out onto the feild. So the band moms dumped a few packets of sugar into the water and poured it down my throat. What happened next was priceless, because they had thrown away the wrappers, and they thought that one of them might have been toxic silica gel. So they had to go dig through the trash can to make sure they didnt poison me in the heat of the moment.
After that, it was pretty uneventful, as they stripped me down to my shorts and band shirt and made me go sit in the medic RV for a while and then made me eat hot dog buns, almonds, and gatorade.

Memorial Day Parade. Blazing hot, one of the picc's couldn't stand the heat and our wool uniforms. "Dropped like a fly" in the middle of the parade. Luckily she was in back!
