Tristan wasn't sure exactly what was going on. He couldn't get a hold of his agent to double check the information he had received. The email with details on where he was to go seemed legit. It was from his agent's address at any rate but he never handled things so poorly before. Normally he gave Tristan all the details he would need to know.

Tristan was told he would be filming on a remote island. He was to meet someone that would take him there. That everything would be explained in due time and that this would get him out of the porn industry like he wanted.

Naturally Tristan assumed his agent had found him the role of a lifetime, that he would finally get his big break into real film. Perhaps the secrecy of the situation was just to heighten the surprise upon arrival? Perhaps his agent was already there awaiting him. With a smile, Tristan turned onto the road that would lead him to this 'assigned destination'. Here he would catch a flight to the island.

A few miles down the road he came to an open area and saw the helicopter. They sure were going all out for him, weren't they? Was this how it would be from here on out? Tristan parked his truck and grabbed his bag. He could get used to this. He had never been to another location to film anything before.

With a grin, he tossed the bag over his shoulder and turned around. Goodbye, old life, he thought to himself. He couldn't wait for his new one to begin. Red Carpet, here I come! He turned and walked towards the helicopter, barely able to control his urge to run. He was so excited.

A letter in a white envelope is posted on the door of Duplex #71. On the envelope is WELCOME is big friendly letter. Inside it is a neatly hand written letter:

Welcome to the Island!

This document is intended to serve as a "welcome tour" to life on the island. Please read
it entirely before venturing beyond your front door it contains information that is
critical to the island´s day to day operations and to your own survival.

First is your duplex. This is your home, you will find the access code on your dresser,
please note your duplex number. Take care of it, there is no regular cleaning service
here. Note the intercom, dialing zero will get you an operator at the labs, you may
request personal items for your comfort. Nearly any reasonable request will be honored
except communication gear. Dial # + (a duplex number) to call another duplex.

Beyond your duplex is the village proper, the village center contains the cafeteria, it
serves hot food three times a day but is always open for snacks. There is also an
entertainment room with a vast library.

However the most important aspect of the island are the residents of the village. Pleased do not be alarmed by their strange appearances, these people are human beings and do not appreciate being gawked at. They are all the (mostly unwilling) subjects of Dr. Moreau’s experiments that fuse normal humans with animal DNA, producing an animal human hybrid. The changes are caused by a series of five injections administered by lab personnel. The first shot causes no changes. It prepares the body, probably at the molecular and cellular level. The proceeding injections induce physical changes in the body with hours of the injection. The process is incredibly painful.

The villagers are prevented from escaping by the natural remoteness of the island and chips that are implanted under the skin at the base of the neck. They enable the labs to render anyone unconscious at the touch of a button. The chip can also paralyze the subjects.

There are camera’s every where, both in the open and hidden. The villagers are observed 24 hours a day, nothing is unrecorded.

No one to date has escaped. There have been attempts.

This is the reality of the island. Anything else the staff has told you, the reason you are here, is a lie. No one has left the island in over a year and everyone who stays within a duplex is a subject. I’m am sorry but this includes you.

Sincerely,

Richard Harrison, Resident of Duplex #70

If you have any more questions please seek me out. I will answer them to the best of my ability.

The helicopter was so much bigger than he had expected. Perhaps everything always appeared smaller on television. The pilot jumped down as Tristan neared. He shuffled around and opened the door for Tristan to climb in. He already felt like a star. If everything he was sure would happen DID happen, then he would never have to resort to porn again. No more Tyler Wilcott! He'd be known by his birthname. Oh, how he looked forward to signing autographs with his real name for a change.

He pulled himself up into the helicopter and buckled himself in. "How long will this flight be?," he asked the pilot as the man climbed in. No reply came his way and Tristan shrugged it off harmlessly. The helicopter was loud and the man had a pair of headphones on his head as well. At least Tristan came prepared for such things. Within seconds, out came his Nintendo DS and he started to play.

The game helped the time pass but so did the thoughts that kept running through his head. What would he find on this island? What kind of movie would be filming there? He would have to buy Jacobson a drink when he arrived. Finally his agent pulled through.

Tristan also wondered what his parents would think. His mother would be proud but his father? Would he finally see reason and realize that his goal in life might pay off? That it didn't mean he was a homosexual or any less of a man? a*****e, Tristan stated in his mind. He'll never understand anything I do, never be happy with anything I do. ******** him. He wouldn't let thoughts of his father ruin his good mood. Ruin the positive change that was about to take place in his life.

----

A bump woke Tristan up. Had he fallen asleep? Instinctively, he glanced at his watch. Several hours had passed by. The DS was sprawled on his lap, battery dead. He'd have to charge that sometime. The door opened up to his side and the pilot took a few steps back, as if making room for Tristan to climb out.

He stuffed the DS back in his bag and tossed it over his shoulder before jumping out of the helicopter. The first thing he noticed was how wild the island looked. It had an exotic beauty to it and a variety of scents teased his nostrils. The air smelled.. wonderful. Fresh. He hadn't enjoyed the simplicity of breathing since he had left his home in West Virginia. This island reminded him a little bit of his home state. It seemed so green!

He nodded his gratitude to the pilot and took a few steps forward, looking for anyone that might have been assigned to greet him.

Moreau held his long red hair back as the helicopter descended his other arm covering his eyes to avoid the wind whipping around his head. As the helicopter landed and Tristan got out Moreau moved forward. "Welcome to the island Mr. Wylde. It's good to finally meet you."

Moreau flashed a devious smile. He extended his hands and directed Tristan towards the jeep he'd brought with him. The one that would take Tristan into his new life...

Tristan grinned as he spotted the red headed man. He looked like he had stepped out of filming earlier that day and was dressed up as a doctor. He hoped the other actors and actresses were as friendly as this chap.

"Greetings, Doctor", he teased, emphasizing the costume the man was wearing. "It's good to be here." He didn't want to jump ahead of the situation but couldn't help it, so many ideas flooded his head. Any number of awesome movies could be filmed on an island such as this, and something that required doctors in the film only made it more intriguing.

Tristan tossed his duffle bag into the back of the jeep and climbed in the passenger side. He was psyched but he tried his best to maintain a professional air about him. The last thing he wanted was to be seen as desperate.

"So, can you tell me what kind of movie is being filmed here?" Tristan asked. "I've not been able to contact my agent since the email and I find I'm quite short on the details. He's probably around here somewhere. Short fellow by the name of Jacobson, with dark hair and glasses that have got to be an inch thick. Damn. Makes his eyes look all buggy."

"Oh, it's a Science-Fiction Horror movie. About a mad scientist who modifies animals to walk and talk and think as humans. Interesting hmmm?" Moreau smiled as he cranked the jeep and drove towards the labs.

"You don't say?" That sounded interesting. It sounded like something that would do damn well in the box office. Tristan could only hope that his role in the film would be a popular one. The better the role, the better his chance of being noticed. Either way, it would be a positive stepping stone on his resume. Something other than the occasional commercial. Something concrete.

"I wonder who's directing it," he commented, more to himself than to the driver. "The movie sounds awesome though. Who would ever think about such things as animals walking, talking and thinking like humans. Whoever wrote up the story has one active imagination." Tristan wondered if anyone he'd recognize would be in this movie. He was also curious to find out how much he would be getting paid for his part but now was not the time for such things. He'd save those questions for the person in charge.

"Do you think of your father much Mr. Wylde?" Moreau looked over even as the jeep continued to drive. He was posing it as a fairly random question, something to pass the drive time.

Of course Moreau always had an ulterior motive. He wanted to find out how closely connected Tristan was to his family. "I'm sorry, just your name, it makes me think of my family, it was my father's name."

Well, that certainly came from nowhere and hit like a punch to the balls. Of course, there's no way the guy could know of his history with his father, so it was a harmless question.

"No apologies needed. My father and I.. don't see eye to eye. Though I have his name, that's about all I care to have from him. I guess I should feel honored to have it. See, my family has this whacked tradition where all the first born sons are named Tristan. In fact, that's about all I know from my family history. My dad and I don't exactly talk. My mom.. now I'm close to her. But who isn't close to their own mother?" Tristan chuckled, though the laugh was a bit dry. Speaking of his father always left a bitter taste in his mouth. "I hope you had a better relationship with your father than I had with mine."

"My mother... and I were distant. Of course, not so much as my father, but atleast he gave me something to look up to." Moreau pulled towards the labs as the gate opened for him.

Moreau smiled, he'd gotten from the inflection in Tristan's voice that he didn't realize he was a real doctor. "There is just a few inocculations you are in need of to make sure you don't go catching anything that might throw your filming schedule off. The caribbean is full of many nasty tropical diseases... most won't kill you but they can leave you regretting you're alive."

Moreau lead Tristan towards the door and into the laboratories.

"I hear ya, buddy," Tristan agreed. It seemed like everyone was always getting sick from something or other, lately. Who knew what kind of insects and animals were on this island. "It's good to know the director has our back."

Tristan was amazed at how detailed and realistic everything looked. They didn't spare a dime when it came to this getup. It didn't look like a set at all. He took his sunglasses off and stuck them in his back pocket to get a better look around. "Not too shabby," he commented.

"Thank you," Moreau smiled and said. "We spared no expense, you should see the budget." this brought a grin to Moreau's face as he walked into the elevator.

"Floor 8 please." he said into the speaker as the elevator began to rise. "Part of this is an actual medical facility, if anything were to occur to one of you during the filming we can handle it here."

The door dinged open to an actual lab room... where many of Moreau's former injections had been handled.

Tristan was starting to figure out that this was not an actor. How foolish he must have appeared. It was perfectly logical for a little clinic to exist in such a place and this was obviously a real doctor. He wouldn't be surprised if this island had been the location for many films.

The speaker elevator caught him off-guard. This place was becoming more interesting by the minute. He couldn't wait to get into things and learn what his part will be in all this.

Tristan stepped out of the elevator and looked around the lab. "So, exactly how many shots do I need?" Though he wasn't afraid of shots, he didn't enjoy them. The idea of multiple shots made him grimace.

"Well, just one right now. It should take care of you." Moreau motioned over to the table "Just got sit over there."

Moreau prepped his needle and waited for Tristan to sit down. "So... interesting facts... concerning family. You aren't your first family member to step foot on this island. Of course, neither was I from my family."

Tristan took a seat at the nearby table to await his shot, thankful that it was only one for now. His mouth dropped open at what the doctor had said. Surely he was joking, or mistaken? He doesn't know of any relatives on his mom side that had traveled out of the country. Most pretty much stayed in West Virginia. And he knew nothing of his father's side, but neither did anyone else, right?

"I think you are mistaken. I don't have any relatives that have been out of the states. I'm the first, I'm pretty sure of that." Of course it didn't hit Tristan that the relative could have been generations past.
