Thanks for the critique! I do have some thoughts on this subject. My first thought, however, is that many people concerned with this point today use it mainly as a justification for absolute gender differentiation, in retaliation against homosexuality....so it's not a point I'm overly concerned about to begin with!
Also, I understand that while our current visual representation of Jesus is more tradition than truth (I also do not believe Jesus had such pale skin!) Jesus was a special case. There are provisions for the Nazarenes (forgive typos, this isn't my field XD) and others of holy orders in associated cultures, allowing for long hair...however, his hair is not to be considered 'long' by many definitions! In fact, just below the shoulders is considered trimmed, and was an acceptable length.
Many orthidox and clergy from the various associated religious were indeed allowed to wear long hair, as it was considered a connection with god. Also, The Tzohar is said to originate with the first steps of the first man...and I doubt he is susceptible to fads or rule changes.
So, in short, I believe his residual self image and socio-theological placement earn him whatever interpretation the artist wishes to give...and the compromise with traditional values will dictate that his hair is not to be drawn much longer than below the shoulders, as pictured in my art post! Down to the mid back, commonly viewed as the length for women's hair, is too long for his character concept.

Thanks very much for the insightful comment Rogue, and thanks for your comparison comment Kochi!
[Also, please note, due to the nature of the myth base of this quest, no extended discussions will be taking place. All comments are welcome, but in depth exploration need not occur for everyone's comfort!]
