They are men and women who have nearly immortal lifespans whose race is slowly becoming extinct. After a great deal of hardship and losing many of the naturally born women, the men were left to age without their lifemated partners. With psychic abilities, they are tied to the land, having to go to ground during the daylight hours to heal and live. They drink blood but are not vampires. As the males reach 200 years old, they lose the ability to see in color and feel emotion, leaving them only with honor to keep them from becoming twisted and evil. Vampires are male Carpathians that have not met their lifemate, have given up their souls to darkness, and kill their victims. Now that full blooded women are rare, the men are finding their lifemates among psychic human women and must bind and turn them. These women, once found, return the feelings and colors of the men, signalling they are the other half of the male's soul. There is only ever one other half for both of them and the bond can not be forced between two who aren't meant to be. However, the male is imprinted from birth with an ancient ritual to bind the woman to him forever and giving three tastes of his blood turns her into one of them. Another problem is the lack of living and surviving children born to Carpathian women, including those turned from human. They still haven't unraveled the trouble and very few babies survive their first year. Rin had just gotten completely dressed in a whole new outfit when she felt hands on her waist and a very sexy tongue against her skin. A purr instantly came from her throat and she leaned backwards to press her body against his. Breathing in his scent deeply, she let out a small, happy sigh.
It took effort to pull her mind from going back into the lusty thoughts. She had to eat, and she was pretty sure that he would be hungry too, after all the energy they used with only sleep to try to replenish it. Turning around, she kissed her serpent lover passionatly before pulling back, looking into his eyes and smiling, "Lets go eat, I am afraid if we don't go now, I may not want to in a few minutes." She doubted she'd ever be able to completely get her mind out of the gutter when it was just them.

Rin thought about what she wanted to eat, certainly she knew she wanted protein and cream. Giggling very lightly as he teased her hair, she then playfully put her hand on her hair to 'fix' it. She laced her fingers with his as he grabbed her hand. "Delectable sounds nice. I know I want something meaty." She didn't even think to explain why she was big on getting protein and iron in her system or about the run-in that made her feel like that. "And milk, but I am not sure exactly what yet. What about you?" She tilted her head slightly to the side looking at him waiting on his answer.

She fully enjoyed the feeling of his hand on her lower back. Her eyes came from looking forward, to looking at him when he said coppery tasting and her stomach did a little flip. The only thing she could think of that tasted like that was...blood. If she was right, then this was very ironic because just a few months before she was bitten by a vampire wannabee but could she have been sleeping with a real one? It, oddly enough, did not scare her and she didn't even show that it had confused her.
She couldn't help it but ask, "Coppery? Do you mean blood?" Her curiosity was showing, but nothing of fear; he hadn't hurt her and knew in her heart that he wouldn't so why should she be afraid? To the wine comment she says, "A bit of wine does sound very nice." Strawberry wine was her personal favorite.

Asher had been very careful to hold back on his bite. He simply he knew his bite could be very pleasureable and many had become addicted to what it brought them. Many in past life have given up their entire estates to him just for another dose of what he could offer.
He gave a brief nod. "Yes, I meant blood." Asher never bit without permission. He gave a small flash of fang. He was a real vampire yet he held the naga appearance of the black mamba.

Rin brought her hand up to her neck, the side different of her neck from the side towards him. "I wouldn't have guess," Was her soft tone, "There is someone else here that claims to be a vampire, and ironically he bit me a few months ago." The memory of it was almost completely pain. Everything about Asher was completely different from the violent man she had allowed to bite her.
As she looked at Asher, she could see the fangs now, hers were just feline fangs, but she didn't doubt what his were, “Don’t know anything about vampires, but I knew he wasn't. Do you need blood as a supplement or actual necessity for life?" She already knew that she cared for him and with as well as she had been caring for herself, she was sure this was something she could do for him if he needed it.
