Alone. That was often she felt as she wandered the realms, seeking something but never finding what she sought. Often she had asked for companionship. Every time it was denied her through someone's death, all for a cursed blade that enjoyed taking a life. Would she ever find comfort in friendship?

She shook her head, causing the cascade of raven curls to move like a living curtain. Her crimson eyes pierced through the horizon, her hand upon the black blade’s hilt. Why had she been stuck with this merciless killer? This demon? She was stuck with the rune sword as it was the last of her home, her lands…yet it was all a reminder of where she came from, the fate that was sealed.

All of Melnibone had been destroyed... Destroyed by Chaos’ enemy Law. Just recalling the awful memories of bloodshed and death caused tears to her eyes. Even if she wasn’t wholly accepted by the people, she still considered them family…because they were her blood. She had been pure Melnibonean before the vampire incident. Her grandfather’s slaying before her eyes, her form hidden…She kept seeing the act before her eyes no matter what she did. No matter what she did to appease it, the memory would forever haunt her.

Tears blinded her view. The light armor she wore made whipping them away a little difficult so she settled for removing them with her hands. She was young… no more then 18 years of age. She continued whipping away tears, settling for kneeling down to just cry. She didn’t care if she had found herself in the middle of a beach, kneeling so close to the waves that one or two had actually washed up to surround her. The tears left warm trails down her cheeks letting the paleness of her skin glisten.

When she could finally get to a sniffling point, something rolled to knock into her booted foot. With a sniff, she looked down near her foot, discovering what appeared to be an orb mildly drifting with the tide. There was something with it though…a message. Delicately, she lifted the orb into her fingertips, oblivious of still being in the water.

Upon hearing your troubles in the real world I have sent one of my own to watch over you, but you must take care of it in return. Enclosed in that box is a orb shaped crystal that will show you your dreams and solidify them into a guardian. I will be paying you a visit when I can, to make sure you are properly suited.

The Goblin King

Raven couldn’t believe her luck. Someone had sent this….little glistening sphere to her just to show her, her dreams? “Impossible…” The word slipped from her lips. Did she have dreams? Desire was more like it…. She had dreamed and wished for a friend…A crystal who could solidify into a guardian?

One might as well find out right? She stayed where she was, examining the little crystal, watching the swirling colors of reds and golds. There was something about it that felt alive…similar to the sword she carried. However, it wasn’t the same. This didn’t feel evil compared to the sword. Perhaps she would give it a chance and thank this goblin king personally should she ever meet him.

After discovering the crystal, Raven had taken her shirt and dried it off, removing traces of the sea from it. It was beautiful, she thought. She certainly was grateful for the orb. Grateful someone was trusting one of their own into her care.

She had moved away from the sea, climbing higher into the main lands. It should have been interesting, seeing the elf-like female walking about the land, clothed in black, a long sword on her back and a crystal in her hand. Whatever her purpose was in life obviously had to do with this crystal…or so she thought.

She sighed a little bit. Something about the crystal was a little comforting. She thought she had a happy life… Yeah. It was as happy as it could be when the majority shunned her and the only one to care for her was her grandfather. She missed him. She missed seeing his smile, feeling his arms around her.

As though it knew what she felt, the fog in the crystal shifted a little, revealing a memory of the albino king walking along the shores of the kingdom. Beside him was a little raven haired girl who was all smiles and chattering up a storm with him. It was a sunny day it revealed. The waters were crystal clear and sparkling under the morning sun.

A small smile touched Raven’s lips before she bent to kiss the crystal. “Thank you.” She said, not entirely sure it could understand what she was saying. How did it find her? How did this King know of her? Did she stumble upon some portal and was in his realm? All these questions raced through her mind.

She would cherish this little orb. She would love it and care for it. “Usstan bel'la tau whol nindol farjali belbol dos inbal belbaunin uns'aa...” (Translation: I thank thee for this precious gift you have given me...)

She couldn’t carry the crystal in her hand forever…She looked about her person, sighing as she had nothing. It dawned on her that her cape could be used as a makeshift pouch. So she tore a strip of the fabric to fasten around her waist before she slipped her precious cargo into it…

Raven had wandered the vast land until she came into view of a tavern inn. She had little money to offer, however, she needed to rest. She was wary from the harsh traveling she had done.

Her feet ached and she was sure there were blisters on the ball of her feet. Her legs hurt so much she had wanted to cry from the pain. She was in need of a hot bath and a good night’s rest. She felt grimy and slimy and just not wanting to be touched. Maybe the crystal would like a hot bath too? she wondered.

She walked towards the tavern door, stopping just before it so she could search her pockets for anything that might be valuable enough to be accepted. She had the few pieces of gold from past travels, a jewel or two and then her grandfather’s ring. That she wouldn’t give up. Neither would she give up the hell-blade for anything, as much as she’d like to.

“I suppose I will have to settle for a gold coin to spare,” she murmured as she pushed the tavern door open. Her strange appearance caused a light stirring amongst the customers already inside and seated. She supposed it was a bit odd to find someone with long pointy ears, pale skin, black hair, crimson eyes, clad in black, carrying a hidden crystal and a long runesword.

“Oh dear,” she whispered to herself, trying not to seem too strange. The tender was nice enough to motion her forward, too which her feet moved. “I would like a room with a hot bath and a hot meal, please?” She requested slipping the gold piece forward. The tender picked the piece up and bit it to see if it was real. Satisfied, he nodded and said he’d get right on it, disappearing for a few minutes only to return with a key to her room.

She thanked him and headed towards the inn part of the tavern, unlocking the door and going in. She closed the door and looked around, glad she had gotten the place. Now she could get sleep in some comfort. The hard ground could only be good to someone for a limit time, before her hips barked in protest. She would wait for her bath to arrive…

Raven walked back to her car, a few bags in her hands. Dyvim had the key to the car as her hands were fall. What she bought was to be her little secret as the new mother to be got into her car with the help of Dyvim.

She whistled softly to herself as she drove back home, carrying things in with Dyvm's help. She sat them down on the counter and put some things away whilst others were put into her room, or the underas rooms or someplace.

Raven was in the kitchen making a sandwhich for herself and Dyvim Tvar. Dyvim was circling about her, growling softly as he got impatient.

Raven stuck her tongue out. "Be patient you otha maelthra." (little dragon) She laughed softly anyway at the youngster's aggitation.

"Raven! Dyvim hungry," complained the Dragon undera. "It's you are hungry. Not Dyvim hungry." She lightly scolded, finishing their sandwhichs and handing him his, taking hers and walking to the living room, finding a movie to watch and putting it in before retiring to the couch.

Dyvim followed, happily nibbling at his sandwhich and curling up at her feet. Raven had made herself a club sandwhich, the same for Dyvim. It was one of the first cravings she had and she'd be terrified if she started craving blood.

Other then morning sickness she had experienced in the early times of being pregnant, and the semi strange cravings, she was having an easy time carrying the baby. She was just starting to show, the little mound that was her tummy carrying the child she, Jay and Asher conceived with a little help from modern technology.

The two wanted a baby and Raven had been tired of being alone. The baby would give them all something to tie them to each other, aside from the underas. Plus the underas could help out and learn all the same.

Raven was enjoying herself as she relaxed on the bed, her tummy having grown more. It was more visible and showy of how pregnant she was with the baby.

Dyvim gurgled as he curled up with her, resting his head on her tummy gently. Inside he could hear the baby's heartbeat. "Baby." He said.

Raven smiled and pet him. "Yes, sweety. That's the baby."

Dyvim looked up. "Baby's getting bigger." He stated.

"Yes it is." So far the baby had lighten up on pushing on her bladder, giving her some peace from having to go pee alot. However she massaged her tummy, enjoying the fact she was pregnant with the baby.

Raven grumbled softly as she laid there on the bed. She didn't want to be awake but the babies' kicking and squirming wouldn't allow her to be comfortable enough to sleep. It was starting to affect her mood.

She massaged her stomach, yawning softly. "Can't you settle down for a moment so mommy can sleep?" She begged.

Dyvim murred softly. "Why can't you sleep?"

"Because your little sister and brother won't let me," she grumbled softly. She really wanted to sleep.

Dyvim laid his head on her stomach, rubbing it a little. He kissed it gently. "Let momma sleep."

One morning, Raven decided to take Dyvim to the park to go play. For once she'd ignore people's stares about her appearance and about Dyvim's appearance. She loved the little guy and that was all that mattered.

Dyvim crawled and climbed about the jungle gym, sliding down and moving all over the place. Raven had seated on the bench, watching while running her hands over her tummy.

Twins are finally here, she thought. I'm exahusted after giving brith, and already they want my attention again. It's 2 am dearies! Oh Asher.. Jay where are you two with those bottles?

She wrote these thoughts in her journal she'd been keeping on the sleepless nights when Jay and Asher weren't around. A yawn escaped her pale lips. Raven's eyes drooped a little as she moved a little lift one of the twins up from the crib so she could feed them.

Dyvim was watching with mild curiousty.

Raven sighed as she thought of the stuff Jay confessed to her. She too had felt a little powerless from not being able to help when Jay was beaten. Where she lacked her physical strength, she had her emotional which she gave whole heartedly. How could she help the two men she loved now? The underas were sweethearts and helping out wonderfully with their new siblings.

Dyvim had become protective of them when it came to walks, along with Julianna and the others.

Alexis started to fuss in her crib, little feet moving about beneath the small blanket. She cried and fussed, her little face turning red. Dyvim gurgled as he woke up, blinked and floated from the room to the kitchen to prepare a baby bottle just like Raven showed him how. He floated back inside and offered it to his little sister who fussed a few more times before she suckled on the bottle, her little fists clenching and unclenching.

Dyvim watched his little sister, admiring her coloring and how she and Josh were a nice blend between their parents. His current red hand adjusted on the bottle a little, lifting it a bit higher. Alexis gave a dimpled grin to her big brother.

---------

Raven was sleeping in the room, lying on her side. She was given a break to catch up on her sleep and was greatful for the help from the underas, Jay and Asher, even Nishi and Neo. Nishi was a great uncle for the twins and a good godfather.

However, her sleep was becomming disturb with nightmares of her past and future. Her past caught up. Everything was dark, pitch black and Raven, sitting on her knees in a royal kimono style robe, staring into near oblivion. Before her stood a male, standing tall and proud, bone white hair flowing and moving...with no breeze. Bone white skin seemed ghostly in the pitch black world, crimson eyes staring at demonically.

Her own brilliant rubies stared back. "Grandpa," came her echoy words. To her ears she barely heard her own words.

The ghostly figure of Elric pointed behind her, her gaze following to where she saw Jay and Asher, Nishi and Neo and the twins, even the underas, having a family time together. Except it didn't last long as the image was torn, replaced with images of everyone slain. Jay, Asher, and Nishi lay sprawled out, a look of horror and disbelief in their eyes and expression. The twins too laid motionless, blood everywhere.

Raven's eyes widdened as she leapt to her feet and ran, screaming with tears starting in her eyes. However she stopped as soon as she got to the scene. What stood in the midst of the bloody area, with bodies around her was another figure that was a replica of Raven herself. Everything down except for a demonic, twisted look. Her doppleganger smiled in a twisted way, scaring Raven. In the doppleganger's hand was a black runesword, a near perfect replica of Stormbringer and Mournblade.

Raven whimpered, unable to believe her new family was dead, their souls sucked into the demon sword. Suddenly, Stormbringer was in her hands, and she was launching an all out attack on her ghostly twin, the swords meeting each other everytime, her blood powered by her fury and greif. Out of no where came a stronger set of pale hands, holding onto hers and she saw it was Elric who restrained her, ever so silent.

Elric forced Raven to drop the sword, scooping her up and walking away with her where she clung to him, feeling weakened, drained and unable to function, her body shuddering with withheld tears and sobs. She whimpered softly, terrified, her obsidian hair brushed against Elric's shoulder. She didn't even notice her grandfather giving her a warm bath to help with the sudden chill that had entered her. She was always having such nightmares...She missed her grandpa, she was terrified for the future.

Outside the dream, Raven woke with a start, her body in a cold sweat as her breathing regulated itself. She was at home, in the comforts of home, her hand moving to brush at her hair and the sweat. She hated her nightmares. She was left with the feeling of dread that wouldn't let go of her soul. Seeing a Doppleganger was bad news....

Dyvim paced about in the library. He tried reading and it didn't work. He sat and tried to do anything to take his mind off Julianna's pain. It affected him oddly. He growled more and was more reluctant to submit to anyone, even to Raven.

Raven was concerned for everyone, and she needed to rest. However the first feeding at home was about to happen when Alexis wailed, wanting to be fed.

Dyvim threw a book, which was not him as he respected books very much. The book flew and clashed with a bookcase, missing a few various pieces as it did. He curled up, wishing he could take his friend's pain away or know what it was that hurt her.

Raven hugged her little dragon. "lotha maelthra, what's wrong?" She stroked his hair. He growled something and she tipped his chin up. "What's going on with you?"

Dyvim Tvar mrowled and squirmed, wiggling free. He scampered to a spot and curled up. Raven sat there, looking forlorn, sadness in her eyes. She was afraid for what was happening. Julianna was in pain, Merethist was hissing, Dyvim was becomming distructive...

"Dyvim...please, tell me what's wrong."

"Julianna hurts...." He curled up, playing with his ribbons.

"I know sweety..." She crawled foreward, tugging him by his ribbons so he had little choice but to get pulled into mom's embrace. "Julianna hurts, and Dyvim can't help her!" He fussed, reluctantly clamping onto her arm. Raven's lips shaped an o as she continued to hug him. "We'll figure out what's wrong with her."
