In regards to the new rule, I am wondering about using Brigid. Kinda like a cross between the celtic goddess and catholic saint, but my take on her acts like both are at least a little wrong. That is, she isn't a diety, and she doesn't do most of the things considered catholic. Instead going in a biblical christian direction for faith.

I think so, but you may want to wait until I can confirm for sure. Anya and I will be having a detailed discussion on what's required and things like that. You all are too creative for us. Hm. Well, I can't really say yes or no at this point. The straight-up Celtic goddess would be fine, but we still need to discuss if historical figures (which would include St. Brigid) would be okay or not. So... ask again later? ^^; I'll have an answer after Saturday for the historical question.

Till then I'll work on different ways to twist the concept.
[Edit]I forgot about a piece of myth regarding the goddess that makes it all make sense. xd It was believed by some, if not many, of her followers that the saint was in fact an incarnation of the goddess. That would explain how the diety died and how come I use the saints life with such inate powers![/Edit]

Exactly how full does your mythbase have to be? I found a concept that interests me, but sadly, there isn't a lot of information on it.
Most of what I find is in Portuguese, as it's a Brazilian myth, and I don't speak much Portuguese, if any at all. I've tried Babelfish as a translator, and it fails horribly, and translates only one word out of maybe five.
So all I have is a general outline as given by Encyclopedia Mythica that says it's a river-dwelling fire serpent that attacks others and uses their life and light to keep its fire alive under the surface of the river.
I'm not going to beat my head against my desk trying to decipher Portuguese with a dictionary unless I have to.
^w^

^w^ Get as much as you can. I would try and somehow find more than just something so basic, personally... but it depends on what's out there. Sometimes there isn't a lot, I know.

^w^ That sounds like a really interesting myth! Does Wikipedia have an entry on it? Otherwise, maybe ask if any other questers or Gaians are Brazilian or Portugeuse and have heard the myth and give you more info?

I'd asked in the thread, but I know it moves fast liek whoa.
With regards to the new rule(s), is Sophia (of Gnosticism fame) still eligible? Or does the Gnostic body of theology constitute close enough to a major religion that she would be ineligible?

The only Wiki that has information on the myth, is, of course, the Portuguese version of Wiki.
^w^
Thanks for the help Sosi and Kalindara!

All righty, here goes - I've been cautious about this idea from the get-go, mostly because a lot of time has been spent trying to make it make sense and especially in regards to the new rule I find myself at something of a tottering standstill.
I'm interested in questing for Pestilence of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse found in the Christian Bible.
Now, the concept beyond the simplified statement is what I hope makes this an okay idea.
In Revelations the Bible refers to Four Horsemen, riding a white, red, black and pale horse. These have been interpreted to be Pestilence, War, Famine and Death respectively. However, a common opinion amongst Biblical scholars is that the rider of the white horse is not Pestilence at all but the Anti-Christ. So... the death of Pestilence in terms of the reincarnation of the Fa'e would be the fact that he's a misinterpretation. So he's still part of religious myth and so forth, but only so far as he's a figment of mistranslation. That would be the idea at least ^_^
So right - just looking to see if this is safe within bounds of the new rule and also whether it's a valid myth in its own right. Thank you~

^^;;; Hello there. I have a question about a myth type thinger....
Would basing a Fa'e off a zodiac sign be too vague? What I have in mind is the Sheep from the Chinese Zodiac. I already know a ton about the Sheep and the general personality, (I am a Sheep. X3) and I know several different legends to how the Zodiac came to be.
As for how the Sheep would be dead, people stopped truly believing in the magic of the Zodiac, or perhaps the Sheep was one of the unfortunate ones to get sacrificed or killed for meat during winter. (It's said that Sheep People born in winter will have harder lives because Sheep were killed during winter for food. o.o And it's a sacrificial animal.)
Just wondering, sankyuu,
Asu.
