A bright laugh slipped from the golden cub as his new friend went bounding ahead, scattering the birds before him. Fortuneate for the cubs, the birds didn't take the charge too seriously and didn't fly far. The place was rich in food, countering the rucus the cub made. Ushu couldn't help his giggling as he darted to his paws and pounded after Shin.
"Hey!" He called out as he slipped infront of the blackand white cub, trying to halt his mad rush. He tried to put a serious look on his face, but it was hard when laughter kept bubbling up. "No, no! That's not how you do it!" Shaking his head, he bounced on his paws. "You have to be quiet and sneek up on them! Then you pounce. Otherwise, you'll never get close enough."
Some nearby birds over heard the conversation and just shook their heads, indulgent smiles on their beaked faces. The cubs were harmless, really. As long as they kept a wary eye out, there was nothing to worry about.

The little cub skidded to a stop, stirring up a cloud of dust and grass as he narrowly avoided crashing into the tan cub. Blinking, he tilted his head curiously, confused.
"Huh? Why? That doesn't sound as fun."
Sneaking? For a young cub full of energy, away from his sister for the first time ever, sneaking and being quiet wasn't nearly as appealing as running, jumping, and being noisey. Why did they need to be sneaky then?
His ears flicked, eyes suddenly captivated by a large, colorful bird that stood out amoung the others. That one looked like fun to chase, he wondered if it would make a different sound than the others.

Ushu's head tilted at the other cub's words, confused himself. "I... guess it doesn't sound tha fun. Its just... the way you're supposed to do it." After a moment of though, he grinned and shrugged it off. "Ah, well. Hunt however you want, I guess. If it works, great!" He saw the look in Shin's eyes as the cub looked at the birds and it drew his own gaze around.
"Whatcha looking at, Shin?" The cub asked curiously. "See something?" He didn't see the same bird, soft ears perked forward as he searched.

The young cub remained silent, falling into a crouch, instinct taking over as he crept forward a few steps, though the rustling of the grass clearly betrayed his movements. His eyes captivated, it took him a moment to hear the other cub's words. Quietly as he could, he lifted one paw, pointing in the direction of the colorful bird that had captured his attention.
"That bird over there is differnt."
Without realizing it, he had spoken in a whisper, his paw lowered to the ground again as he crep another step forward. He wondered how close he could get before he flew away. He hoped it wouldn't fly away, he wanted to get a better look.

"What? Where?" Ushu sat back on his haunches as lifted his paws up in the air, unconciously mimicing the pose of a meercat as he searched for the bird. Finally his red eyes found it and his head tilted. It didn't look that different to him... Hey!
Shin had started with out him and the tan cub dropped quickly to all fours and scrambled after him, tufted tail swinging. "Hey! Wait for me!" He hissed, something about Shin's movements keeping him from more than a whisper. Besides, you were supposed to be quiet when you hunted... at least, he was pretty sure. This was actually turning out to be fun, now that the black and white cub was getting into it. Ushu was really enjoying himself, probably more because he'd found a new friend than because of any real liking for hunting prey.

Orange eyes shining brightly with curiosity, the little cub crept forward paw step by paw step toward the seemingly unsuspecting bird. There was a determination in his stride, paw falls suprisingly silent for one so inexperienced, perhaps he wasn't so bad at this stalking afterall.
However despite his actions, the cub was not intentionally stalking, nor was his goal to hunt the bird that had so captured his attention. The young cub was simply filled with curiousity and an unshakeable urge to get a better look at the feathered creature.
Closer and closer he crept, certain that he would reach the bird before it flew off, maybe he could even get close enough to touch it. But alas it was not to be, for just when it seemed he was within paw's reach, there was a noise that started the bird and it took flight.
"No, wait!"
He charged forward, trying to reach the bird before it took off, but it was too late. The creature was gone, leaving only a single white and red feather behind. Eyes staring down at the feather, ears drooping a bit, the cub looked very dejected for a moment. Until he realized he had recognized that sound, or rather that voice, that had frightened off the bird. Uh-oh...
"I think that was my pappa"
The cub lifted his head over the grass, catching a glimpse of the tan coat and red mane, yep, it was his father.
"I gotta go, but we can play again right?" He grinned at his new friend, tail flicking happily. "I'll see you later, Ushu!"
Turning back toward his family's den, the little cub ran to meet his father, a muffled 'but pappa..." and a "...disobeying your mother" trailing after him in the wake of ruffled grass behind him.

Ushu laughed brightly as the bird exploded into the air, his little tan form bouncing and dashing in circles around the other cub. "Wow, Shin! Look at that bird go!" His little tail lashed back and form, his paws slapping the dirt of the savannah.
As the black and white cub came to a stop, so did the tan cub, his red eyes wide. "Oh... okay." Soft ears fell back in disappointment at having their play cut short, but he summoned up a smile for his new friend. "Sure, Shin, we can play anytime you want to. Yeah, I should be getting back to, actually. See you later!"
He watched the other as he bounced away, a small sigh escaping him. Turning, Ushukuru headed back the way he'd come, heading back to the warmth and safety of his parents.
