"I wasn't playing a game..." -The words were gritted through his young teeth, his eyes still narrowed nastily at the soft cub. But already the anger was filtering. Some tiny twinge of pride and guilt as he watched how quickly his siblings mood had fallen.
Twins voice echoing in his ears, his raised paw slowly lowered and he turned from Mastema, the softest hints of a grin touching his lips at Matsai's words.
But that too quickly faded, ears and eyes falling downward at Tanaka's reprimand. Mastema had hit him first! And he'd just been trying to come to dad's rescue. This wasn't fair! Not one tiny part of it.
Eyes downstrode he sat silently, tight frown on his maw, the irritated flick of his golden tail tuft the only visible motion. Even the yelp from his sister as she got her own punishment was enough to pull the blue cub from his sulk.-

Kiuma meerly shook her head at her daughter's words, pushing her closer to her father and turning her attention away. She didn't reward misbehavior with attention, her black tipped tail flicking from side to side. The swat from her father's paw was well deserved, and the red lioness felt it was time to move onto other things. Round ears perked at the command to halt their play, drawing around those red eyes. Seems her daughter wasn't the only one getting into mischeif.
A soft sigh slid from Kiuma as she rose and padded over, picking Mastema up in her great jaws. Her little brown son... he took after her side of the family more than she could have wished. He was too soft and friendly... something he would need to be trained out of. The world was too harsh a place for such behavior. Lifting the cub out of harm's way, she padded back to sit beside her mate, leaning into him as she dropped their youngest between her paws. "Hmm... I wonder which of the nanny lionesses are around today. We could use another catch to feed our growing family." She smiled and purred as she nuzzled his shoulder, her eyes glittering.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The blue cub snort gently as his twin padded towards him, another flicker of a smile showing. He glanced up as their mother removed the object of the scuffle, his only response a quick flick of his tail. "I'm suprised you let him get to you, Ahai... He's just a stupid little cub, even if he is our brother. He doesn't know any better."
Wanting to distract his brother, he batted at him with a soft paw, letting a soft chuckle escape his jaws. Maybe a little play scuffle would take Ahai's mind off their Father's reprimand. Giving a growl, the cub bounced and weaved around the other, batting on his head, flank, and shoulder.

Taking in everything at once, Mastema's eyes flickered around wildly at all the actions of the family. It was chaos in his mind, just trying to follow the punisment of his sister and the reaction of his twin brothers as well as the commands of his father. Frowning still to himself, his eyes grew bleary as tears filled their depths. He knew that it was partially his fault, and with his mind all confused he saw it as all of his fault, Ahai having done no wrong with how he responded to the playful scuffle.
Opening his maw to apoligize, he was suddenly cut off with a yelp as his mother picked him up and away from the others, leaving him only to stare fleetingly at the twins as their words brushed his ears. Now, he merly was settled in his mother's paws, closer towards Kali than the others, and his young mind had no idea just what to think save for the fact that the red lioness was very warm indeed.
With his head curled against his mother's paw, he just blinked and watched the others from the safety of the paws, ignoring the exchange of words from his parents as he became lost in a world of dreams and fantasies.

Tanaka's words had been less of a reprimand as it had been a command to say that it had been enough. He had not been angered by his son's actions, if anything he would have been surprised had Ahai not reacted has he did. But he simply couldn't allow his children to harm one another, especially not when one had such an advantage over the other.
Lowering his head, his lone green eye focused on his youngest son, looking over the small form for any injuries. Satisfied that the small cub was unharmed, he turned his attention toward his eldest son searching the blue pelt to assure himself that he was unharmed as well.
With a slight frown, the lion picked up the sulking cub in his maw, setting him down beside one massive white paw, seperated from the youngest cub. While he had not been angered at the fight, he was disappointed in the sulk, a single flick of his tail showing his displeasure.
"Don't sulk, it doesn't suit you."
His tone held no anger, no towering command or reprimand. It was a statement spoken from a father to his son. Sulking was a bad habbit to get into, especially when there was no reason for it.
A deep breath later, Tanaka laid his head against Kiuma's shoulder, purring quietly to his mate. Some time alone with just the two of them sounded like a wonderful idea.
"You think any of them will be willing to watch the cubs?"--------------------------- Small crimson eyes narrowed as the white cub slunk into the shadow of a rock away from her family. Hmph! A bunch of jerks, all of them. What had she done that was so bad to deserve that strike, and why should she have had to apologize?
Her talons flexed in her anger, a happless insect meeting it's end on sharp claws, it made her feel only slightly better.

-Ears flicked gently at Matsai's words, his glower only growing. He wasn't as great communicating himself as the others seemed to be, and perhaps that was part of the reason why lashing out came so naturally to the cub. While Matsai might be able to come up with some great retort for the dim cub, Ahai had come up with nothing more then a juvinile proclaimation. Hitting was simply easier. It got the point across without need for the eloquance that some of is siblings were already beginning to show in their words.
So for the moment he let his brother bat at him, offering nothing more then a mild snap of his teeth when his twin's paw lightly thwamped his head.
Displacement, and words lifted first Ahai's ears, and then eyes, before finally he nodded. He doubted it would be the last time he found himself sulking.. but if father said it didn't suit him.. well then perhaps he could find another way to express his dissapointments. Or better yet.. he'd just have to try harder not to be dissapointed.
Lifting himself, he cast one last glance to his father as eyes drifted to mother, before finally padding back over to Matsai, returning the playful paws from before with a mild thwap of his own.-

Kiuma purred deeply as she slid her tongue along her son's spine, giving her mate a toothy smile as he leaned against her. "If I tell them to, they'd better do it. After all, aren't I a princess?" She chuckled as her grin turned sadistic. "Gotta get some perks for this nearly useless title... Babysitting my cubs should be an honor for them." Lifting her sleek red head, the lioness rose, leaving Mastema where he curled. "I'll go find Koho... she was nanny before I left. Otherwise... there are lots of lioness, any could do it for a few hours."
Her tail swung behind her as she padded towards the main den. Hell... even her mother could do it, as long as the cubs were given firm directions to behave. Father would help... they'd probably enjoy that, even.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Matsai meeped softly when Tanaka pulled his brother away, supressing the flash of annoyance. How come Ahai got all the attention? He was important too! A hint of a scowl moved on the young cub's face, but it was fleeting. Well...Atleast it was Ahai and not one of the others. He could stand it, since his twin was... well, his twin.
A surpised squeak escaped his jaws as Ahai came back to swat at him. Letting a small smile touch him, he bounced forward to return the playful thwaps. Hmm... what was that Mother and Father were talking about? A babysitter...?

The white lion nodded to his mate, his shoulder brushed against hers as he stood to his paws, tail flicking behind him. Gaze narrowed he looked over his cubs, picking out each form to assure himself that none of them had run off.
Leaving the task of finding a nanny to his mate, Tanaka remained outside the den to prepare the cubs, to sternly remind them that they were to behave and disobedience would not be tolerated. Ever the protective father, Tanaka wasn't certain he liked the idea of leaving his children with another, though truth be told he was more concerned about the babysitter than he was the cubs, little monsters that they were, especially his daughter.
But it was something he'd have to get used to, moreso than perhaps he realized at the time. And now he longed for some time alone with his mate, the lioness he had fallen in love with, something they had not shared for some time it seemed. A hunt was indeed a wonderful idea and he relished the thought of shedding blood with the red lioness again. Such a wonderful, glorious day this was.
